Chris Brown Performs at Billboard Music Awards; Fans Divided Over Obvious Lip-Syncing

Chris Brown brought his BMX skills to the Billboard Music Awards Sunday. His vocal skills? Mmmnot so much, from the looks of the performance. The singer rode onstage in Las Vegas to perform his high-energy hit “Turn Up the Music” against a colorful, bike ramp backdrop dubbed the “Fun Zone.” Breezy’s leopard fur-lined jacket (open to show off his muscular, tattooed chest, obvi) and impressive dance moves wowed the crowd, but his singing? Chris Brown – “Turn Up The Music” (Billboard Music Awards 2012) Fans on Twitter were disappointed, at least in part, for Chris’ lip-syncing. Some viewers tweeted sentiments like, “What’s the point of performing live if you’re gonna lip sync? You should just become a back up dancer.” “I don’t mind Chris Brown lip synching… at least he PERFORMS !!!” wrote one fan in defense of Chris. “CB performance never disappoints.” The event, which also featured Justin Bieber’s performance and Jordin Sparks’ tribute to Whitney Houston, certainly featured the big names. What do you think of Chris’ performance? Thumbs up or down?

Kristen Wiig Dances Off ‘Saturday Night Live’ Stage In Graduation Sketch

‘Bridesmaid’ star sheds tears as she waltzes with TV pals one last time. By Gil Kaufman Kristen Wiig on SNL’s Season Finale Photo: NBC There are many different ways to leave “Saturday Night Live.” Some cast members get dumped after a few episodes and are never heard from again and others have long, productive runs and graduate to movies. But most just kind of disappear and are replaced by someone younger, prettier, more versatile or just newer when the next season rolls around. Kristen Wiig was never a typical “SNL”er. The stand-out star of the show that has minted a galaxy of them has always had a little something extra and when it came time for her final curtain call you could tell. During Saturday night’s season finale, Wiig was given a rare chance to say goodbye to the show that helped make her a TV and movie star when she, literally, danced her last dance with the people who helped her achieve her dreams. In the episode hosted by Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger, the “Bridesmaids” star appeared in a mock graduation sketch in which she got to toss aside her cap and gown and make the transition to her new life. With Jagger playing a school principal praising one of his favorite students in the night’s final sketch, the rock icon smarmily said, “I’d like to take a moment to say goodbye to one particular student who is leaving this summer to become a nun. Kristen?” Wiig, trying to hold back the waterworks, stood by Jagger as he joked, “You meant quite a lot to us over the past seven years. She got held back. So our music department got together and prepared a song to say goodbye. This one’s for you.” Wiig then tore off her cap and gown to reveal a miniskirt and top combo and did a series of Victorian slow dances and hand jives with her cast mates as Arcade Fire performed the Stones’ “She’s a Rainbow” and “Ruby Tuesday.” Andy Samberg almost caused a wardrobe malfunction when he picked Wiig up and spun her around after the actress had taken turns with pals Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, Kenan Thompson, Fred Armisen, Bobby Moynihan, Jenny Slate, and Jason Sudeikis. The biggest ovation came when she went cheek-to-cheek with show founder Lorne Michaels. On the line, “still I’m gonna miss you” from the Stones’ “Ruby Tuesday,” Wiig pointed to the crowd as old pals Amy Poehler and Rachel Dratch boogied one more time on the show with their friend. NBC has not confirmed that Wiig is leaving the show, but the last waltz seemed like a fitting end to a memorable run in which she created a host of iconic characters. From mischievous Gilly, to crude baby-armed crooner Dooneese Maharelle, enthusiastic Target Lady, and improvisational singer Kat, as well as great impression of Kris Jenner, Bj

Justin Bieber Unveils Believe Track List

Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, Ludacris and Drake will all make cameos on the June 19 release. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: MTV News Justin Bieber is four weeks away from dropping Believe, and from the looks of it, there’s going to be some major collaborations on there. The teen star released the album’s track list over the weekend, and he’s managed to get some of the biggest names in hip-hop to guest on it. While he had hit the studio with Kanye West, Yeezy didn’t make the final cut, but Ludacris, Big Sean, Nicki Minaj and Drake did. His mentor, Usher, will serve as the executive producer on the album, according to Capital FM . All those duets are intriguing, but fans might be most excited to hear what Bieber and Drizzy are up to on the track “Right Here.” “He’s a great guy and super-talented, and his melodies are crazy,” Bieber told MTV News about working with the Canadian MC. “When we go into the studio, he’ll go in the booth and he’ll do some melodies and we’ll write.” Bieber also reportedly worked with Taylor Swift on the album , but it is unclear whether it was for a duet that didn’t make the cut or a writing session. To get fans hyped for the release, Bieber performed at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night, where he showed off his growing abilities as a dancer. “This performance is going to be fun. I practiced a lot in the dance studio,” Bieber told MTV News on the red carpet . “I’ve been working hard, and I can’t wait to show the fans what I’ve been working so hard on.” The full track list for Bieber’s Believe, out June 19:

Johnny Depp on Vampires and Dark Shadows: The Anti-Twilight?

Given the kind of vampire that’s dominated pop culture in recent years – hunky, as down in Bon Temps, or sparkly, like the eternal teens of Twilight — it’s no surprise that some folks may long for the bloodsucker of olde. Well, count Johnny Depp among the ranks of the traditionalists. His latest collaboration with director Tim Burton, an adaptation of the 1970s supernatural soap Dark Shadows , sees Depp in ghostly make-up and fangs as undead hero Barnabas Collins in what he describes as a counterpoint to movies about “vampires that look like underwear models.” And underwear models are the last things Depp brings to mind as Collins: Freed after centuries of imprisonment, the 18th century New England vampire returns to his ancestral home only to find himself — pasty white (via theatrical make-up), with long pointy vampire fingers, chompers, and a wardrobe like a Goth Liberace’s – a fish out of water in the groovy ’70s. So why the reactionary vampirism? Depp and Burton were both fans of the original Dark Shadows series as kids, as they told press last week in Los Angeles. (Co-star Michelle Pfeiffer, who plays Collins family descendant and matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, was the only other cast member who was also a previous fan of the show — so much so that she called her Batman Returns director Burton to lobby for a part.) But the idea to make a film adaptation from the cult series didn’t strike until the two were on the set of another film. “I think it was during Sweeney Todd where I just blurted out in mid conversation, ‘God, we should do a vampire movie together,’” Depp recalled, “’where you actually have a vampire that looks like a vampire.’” Depp says he’s always been fascinated by monsters, and the erotic nature of bloodsuckers adds “a darkness, this mystery, this intrigue.” But of course, Dark Shadows is a family-friendly comedy-actioner to boot. “It was a real challenge, more for Tim than me, to make that guy, that vampire, fit back into this odd society and this dysfunctional family,” he said. “I think he did it seamlessly.” In addition to wearing finger-extending vampire nails that required delicate treatment between scenes, Depp donned other vampire accoutrements. “When I had the fangs, you had to be careful that you didn’t actually pierce the jugular,” he explained. “Kind of like my experience shaving Alan Rickman — which, by the way, neither of us wants to do again.” As for Barnabas Collins’s stilted, out-of-the-past mannerisms, Depp and Burton agreed: They had to include some measure of original series actor Jonathan Frid in the performance. “It just had to be this sort of classic monster, like Fangoria Magazine or that kind of thing,” Depp said. “In terms of that Jonathan did have a rigidity to him, this elegance. It was always there.” “Tim and I talked early on,” he continued. “I did believe that a vampire should look like a vampire.” He paused. “It was a kind of rebellion against vampires that look like underwear models.” Follow Jen Yamato on Twitter .
