Sarah Gadon Is New Class’ ‘Most Likely To Wear A Corset’

Roles in ‘Dream House’ and the upcoming ‘Cosmopolis’ set her up for a long career, especially in period periods. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Sarah Gadon Photo: Toby Canham/ Getty Images Sarah Gadon has been acting for more than a decade, but now is really her time to shine. This year alone, she appeared in David Cronenberg’s Freudian flick “A Dangerous Method” and Mary Harron’s “The Moth Diaries,” and this week, she gets her scare on in “Dream House,” alongside Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz. Up next, Gadon, 24, re-teams with Cronenberg on the Robert Pattinson-starring “Cosmopolis.” Her work in period pieces and her ethereal, striking looks certainly make her the perfect candidate to stay trapped in a time when women wore more restrictive clothing. That’s why she’s MTV Movies New Class ‘ “Most Likely to Wear a Corset … A Lot.” MTV : We’re always looking for the next exciting talent, and it’s not like you just started acting, so does it feel like a particularly exciting time where all that hard work is paying off? Gadon : You go through different arcs in your career. I think when I was younger, I was definitely into the performance side of the industry. I came to acting through that way, and then having gone to university and studied cinema studies and watching tons of films and understanding film theory and making a conscious choice of working with auteur director marks a new chapter in my development as an artist. MTV : You mentioned some of the directors, Mary and David, two geniuses, talented individuals; how do you build on that? Because that sets the bar high going forward. Gadon : I think when you work with really wonderful directors who have a really strong vision, it lets you as an artist set the tone for your own career. So for me, it’s not necessarily having that kind of notoriety. I’m interested in great work and working with people that have a singular vision, and I think the work dictates that. MTV : Can you give me a sense of Elise [in “Cosmopolis”] and how she interacts with Rob’s character? Gadon : I think it’s a really interesting film, and I don’t want to give away too much, but I think in a really kind of pared-down version of the film, it’s about a young millionaire who loses everything in the course of a day. And I play his new wife, so I’m one of the only characters that really kind of comes in and out of the story throughout the film. We have breakfast, lunch and dinner together, and those are going to be some interesting meals. MTV : Is there someone to emulate? Gadon :Yeah, of course there is. I think there are so many great actresses out there. I think Tilda Swinton is terribly interesting. I think she’s fascinating. I love her work. Kristin Cavallari Sizes Up ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Rivals

‘No one’s bad!’ reality star tells MTV News at ‘DWTS’ rehearsal. By Kelley L. Carter, with reporting by Matt Elias Mark Ballas and Kristin Cavallari Photo: MTV News Kristin Cavallari knows she has her work cut out for her on “Dancing With the Stars,” but it sounds like she’s up for the challenge. On Monday’s show, Cavallari vamped it up in her Hollywood-glam interpretation of the quickstep. Dressed in a sexy, long and flowy white gown — reminiscent of siren Marilyn Monroe — the reality star made a tremendous improvement from her first week’s performance, the judges enthused. In her rehearsal for this week’s dance, MTV News caught up with Cavallari and her partner, Mark Ballas, who sized up their competition. They both said everyone brought their own talents to the table and they are on the lookout for them all. “No one’s bad!” Cavallari said. “That’s the thing. I think it’s going to be a tough season.” Last week, the 24-year-old former “Hills” and “Laguna Beach” star wowed the judges when she shook her way through the cha-cha. This week, she earned 22 out of 30 points — the second-highest score behind Ricki Lake — in addition to some pretty meaty praise from the trio of judges. “I’ve been bedazzled by the blond bombshell! I love old, Hollywood glamour! This performance was twinkling with pleasure,” Bruno Tonioli gushed. Carrie Ann Inaba added: “Last week, nervous; this week, stunning! You kept your hold, you kept your frame. I thought it was gorgeous!” Who do you think is Kristin’s toughest competition on “Dancing With the Stars”? Let us know in the comments!

‘Twilight’ Fan Christina Perri Pens ‘A Love Song To Edward And Bella’

Admitted ‘Twi-Hard’ is ‘unbelievably honored’ that ‘A Thousand Years’ made the ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ soundtrack. By James Montgomery Christina Perri Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images For any artist, getting a song on a “Twilight” soundtrack is a pretty big deal. But for Christina Perri , whose “A Thousand Years” made the cut for the upcoming “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” album , well, “pretty big deal” is an understatement. Perri is — to put it mildly — rather obsessed with the series, as she told MTV News on Tuesday (September 27). “Yes, I am 1,000 percent a ‘Twilight’ fan. I can’t even deny that I am actually, in fact, a Twi-Hard and have a ‘Twilight’ tattoo,” she laughed, also revealing that she’s Team Edward. “I got a tattoo on my wrist that says ‘bitten,’ and it’s written in the font of all the book titles. So, yes, I am of one the big, geeky fans.” For Perri, who already found success with her hit “Jar of Hearts,” landing “Breaking Dawn” was a career-defining moment, not to mention a dream come true. Especially since, until the final track list was revealed Monday, she had no idea if her song made the cut. “I’ll never forget going to the screening of the movie. But, for me, having this opportunity is also such a wild card, because it’s Hollywood, and you never really know. … I wasn’t even sure I was going to be on it until yesterday, when I saw it in print,” she laughed. “So I tried not to get hyped out, because it’s one of my favorite movies, one of my favorite books, one of my favorite soundtracks, and that could potentially freak out the little songwriter in me. “So I tried to put that aside and take it one step at a time, went to see the movie and cried like a baby, because it’s so good, and I felt so lucky to be there,” she continued. “And then went home and wrote a love song to Edward and Bella … and to have it be chosen, I’m unbelievably honored.” She wrote that love song based less on the screening she attended (“It wasn’t finished,” Perri said. “But I still cried. Seriously, that’s how good it is”) and more on the emotions she felt reading Stephenie Meyer’s series … in particular, the star-crossed love affair between Edward and Bella. “When we went to watch the screening, they told us to see where there was temporary music added and just jump into those scenes a little harder,” she explained. “But I’m fortunately a fan of the movie and the characters, and I feel like, by reading these books, I can step into that feeling that Edward and Bella have for each other. So [songwriter] David Hodges and I sat down, and it just came out in one afternoon. I feel like it was all meant to happen; I feel like it was all waiting inside me, waiting to come out.” While she doesn’t know where “A Thousand Years” will be used in “Breaking Dawn,” Perri said it’s not all that important to her. She’s just counting down the days until the film’s premiere, when, finally, she’ll get to hear her song on the big screen. And after that, all bets are off. “For me, personally, this is one of my dreams coming true. And the fact that it’s on the soundtrack, I’m seeing it, but I’m not sure I’m quite believing it,” she said. “I have a feeling when I’m sitting in the theater with the cast, and the movie comes on and my song happens, that I’m probably at that moment either going to combust with excitement or finally believe it and probably cry a little.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Jonah Hill ‘Not Mad’ At ‘Lion King’ Triumph Over ‘Moneyball’

‘If everyone goes to see a movie that’s 20 years old … they’re just going to re-release 20-year-old movies,’ Hill jokes about his box-office competition. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Vanessa White Wolf Jonah Hill Photo: MTV News Even though Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill ‘s well-received “Moneyball” wasn’t able to conquer Disney’s re-release of “The Lion King” at the box office over its opening weekend, Hill isn’t worried about the potential for continued success of the underdog- and baseball-themed flick. He’s worried about what message that might send to studio executives. “I’m not mad at ‘The Lion King,’ ” Hill said with sincerity and a smile. “I just think if everyone goes to see a movie that’s 20 years old getting re-released, they’re just going to re-release 20-year-old movies instead of making new original movies, and that would be a shame.” But even more newsworthy than the film’s box-office haul is all the early awards buzz it is getting, specifically the positive attention Hill’s performance has received. When we asked the 27-year-old what it might mean to be recognized for his work with an Oscar or Golden Globe nomination, he wasn’t sure how to react just yet. “I don’t know, I don’t know. I’m just really proud of the movie. Stuff like that is crazy when you hear someone ask you that question legitimately,” he said. “It’s really flattering and cool, but for me the whole experience has been wonderful and I’m already as proud as I would be would I get to be up for an award. I’ve never been up for any award in my life … actually an MTV award [Best Comedic Performance and Best Newcomer noms for “Superbad”], so that was already exciting enough for me. “I don’t know,” he continued. “Basically it’s just a crazy, insane question to be asked and you don’t really know what to say when someone asks you that kind of question.” No matter what happens over the course of the next few months, Hill is proud of his performance and excited that “Moneyball” is exposing him to new audiences outside of those who know him from his work in comedies. “What’s interesting to me is that it’s been completely different audiences [going to see “Moneyball”]. The audiences who would see “Superbad” or “Get Him to the Greek” or “The Sitter” hasn’t been the audience that’s seen “Moneyball” so far. The fortunate thing for me is that I’m getting a much older audience to understand me as an actor.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Moneyball.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Chris Brown Cleared of 95 Handicapped Parking Offenses

Chris Brown just scored a win in the case against his neighbors. The controversial singer had a whopping 95 (out of 117) parking tickets he accrued in recent months dismissed, saving him at least $15,000 in fines. Brown was ticketed time and again for parking in what appeared to be handicapped spaces at his condo. But he wasn’t being that guy – face it, we’ve all thought about it … they get all the best spots! – the spots were deeded to Chris. Sources at the City of West Hollywood confirm that the spaces were in fact assigned to Chris’ apartment from the beginning, which Brown had maintained. Chris may or may not be the neighbor from hell , but he wasn’t doing anything wrong by parking there, and 95 infractions for doing so were tossed out. He still has some work ahead of him, however. Sources say “22 citations remain open” for other parking offenses, and his neighbors are still trying to get his probation revoked for his conduct. [Photo: WENN.com]
