Joy Behar Blackface Photo Emerges, View Host Comes Under Major Fire

It’s official: Joy Behar will not be the next Governor of Virginia. She may not be a host of The View for much longer, either. On Thursday morning, Behar and her co-panelists talked openly about a photo that has surfaced on social media, even including footage of the photo itself on air. It depicts Behar at a Halloween party in 2016, her face darkened in a controversial manner known as “Blackface.” This name was coined back in the 19th century after white performers used theatrical make-up to represent caricature of black people. Ever since, it’s been considered very insensitive and offensive for a non-black person to dress up or pretend to be a black person because it dredges up memories of slavery and civil rights violations. And yet… celebrities continue to get in trouble for the act .  “I went as a beautiful African woman,” Behar said as an explanation for this look, which we’ve included below: “I had makeup that was a little bit darker than my skin – that’s my actual hair, though,” she added. Raven-Symoné seemed concerned upon seeing the picture, putting her co-host on the spot by asking: “Joy, are you black? Are you my auntie, Joy? Do you have tanning lotion on?” But while Behar seemed to brush off the incident as no big deal, essentially brushing it off as a normal Halloween costume, viewers and Twitter users are taking the comedian to task. Big time. “Megyn Kelly was fired from her show for asking a hypothetical question about blackface. Joy Behar actually wore blackface, and admitted it, and showed a picture of it on TV, yet she still has her job,” wrote one astute individual. This is a reference to how Kelly got canned by NBC after she questioned why blackface was a big deal . “Just a reminder that Megyn Kelly was fired for saying that blackface was acceptable when she was a kid (and not actually *participating* in blackface like all of these people.)” another person noted. Said Kelly during one of her final Today Show segments: ”What is racist? Because you do get in trouble if you are a white person who puts on blackface on Halloween, or a black person who puts on whiteface for Halloween. “Back when I was a kid that was OK, as long as you were dressing like a character.” Kelly eventually made a public mea cupla – but then-colleague Al Roker said “she owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country,” adding: “This is a history going back to the 1830s — minstrel shows, to demean and denigrate a race wasn’t right. “I’m old enough to have lived through Amos ’n’ Andy, where you had white people in blackface playing two black characters and just magnifying the worst stereotypes about black people. “And that’s what the big problem is.” DO YOU THINK JOY BEHAR SHOULD BE FIRED FOR HER OUTFIT?

Kim Kardashian And Kanye West Banned From ‘The Voice’ Set!

John Legend joins The Voice for the sixteenth season as a coach AND he’s already off to somewhat of a rocky start. While Legend has been a guest and a mentor on the show multiple times, it’s now his turn to decide who will be the perfect mentor for #TeamJL. And his pick… Kanye West!  I mean, it’s not shocking that Legend would think of West. They are pretty good pals, despite their political differences, and have been friends for years. His friendship with West even helped land him a record deal with Columbia Records back in 2004. So, yeah, the two have some history. But, we all know their wives, Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen’s friendship might be even closer…  The foursome is often spotted hanging out together and even went on a couple’s vacation to San Francisco recently. Also, the fact that West and Legend have recorded together in the past makes him an eligible candidate.  However, according to Radar Online, when the three other returning coaches, which include Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine heard about this they quickly shared their concerns with the “higher-ups” of the show.  An insider shared, “Kanye has just caused too many problems in his personal life and endeavors lately and they just feel that it would be best if him and Kim stayed away from the show for John’s first season.”  Guess that means Kim can’t hang with bestie Chrissy backstage.  “John has been bringing Chrissy to set and everyone gets along with the both of them just fine. He has a big head and he is definitely trying to win, but they are all in it to win it,” a source tells Radar. “Everyone thinks he just needs to calm down and relax because he is getting himself all psyched out over this. It is really just the luck of the draw as to who hits the buzzer first for the person that is meant to win.” Hmm, tell that to Adam and Blake who are constantly in a ‘friendly’ competition with one another throughout the whole show.  The singer told Hollywood Reporter that he is “thrilled to join the coaches of The Voice ” and that he is excited to “discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift.” And with or without the Wests, John will get to do just that.  The Voice premieres Monday, February 25, on NBC.  View Slideshow: Chrissy Teigen Perfectly Live-Tweets Jesus Christ Superstar

David Eason Threatens Woman With Gun: New Details of Alleged Incident Emerge

As you may have heard, David Eason has been accused of threatening a woman with a gun after she committed the unforgivable sin of pulling over on a public road near his property. There have been so many Eason scandals in recent weeks that it can be hard to keep track of them all. So here's a brief recap: David allegedly threatened to shoot a 57-year-old woman named Sandra Britt earlier this week. Like most bullies, he hoped Britt would just quietly slink away after he asserted his false dominance, but unfortunately for David, both Sandra and her daughter are calling him out every chance they get . Take a look:   1. Crazy Dave Yes, David allegedly threatened to shoot a 57-year-old grandmother. Now, she and her daughter are fighting back. 2. Menace to Society Britt pressed charges against David, telling police that he threatened to shoot her. 3. Get Him! She also plans to file a civil suit alleging that he lied to the public with the intent of denigrating her character. 4. Speaking Out Sandra’s daughter, Kelli Faulk, was the first to address the matter publicly, calling David and Jenelle out on Facebook. 5. Jenelle Claps Back Not surprisingly, Jenelle was quick to respond in the insane, combative fashion that she’s known for. 6. Family Feud But try as they might, the Easons have been unable to silence Sandra and her daughter. View Slideshow

Jonathan Rivera and Fernanda Flores Exchange Veiled Barbs After Split

The 90 Day Fiance couple everyone thought had made it … did not. Jonathan and Fernanda have addressed their split in separate posts . But not everything is amicable. Now, the two are making vague posts about which of them is the better person.  Fernanda had taken a “break” from social media. This week, she returned. “Some of the kindest souls I know have lived in a world that was not so kind to them,” she wrote in a vague post. “Some of the best human beings I know,” Fernanda continued. “Have been through so much at the hands of others.” “And,” Fernanda said, those people “still love deeply, they still care.” “Sometimes,” she noted. “It’s people who have been hurt the most, who refuse to be hardened in this world.” Fernanda says that this is “because they would never want to make another person feel the same way they themselves have felt.” It is difficult to read that and not interpret it as meaning that she will remain hopeful despite her broken marriage. In another post, still without naming Jonathan, Fernanda views her current situation through a religious lens. “I declare that God has a great plan for my life,” Fernanda begins. “He is directing my steps,” she writes. “And even though I may not always understand how,” Fernanda admits. “I know that my situation is not a surprise to God.” “He will work out every detail to my advantage,” she trusts. “In his perfect timing,” Fernanda concludes. “Everything will turn right.” Jonathan has also been active on social media. For the most part, as we have mentioned, he has been continuing as if it is business as usual. As we reported on Thursday, Jonathan shared a program that he started for underprivileged children in his community. But he has also shared a very succinct text post. “Be kind to people for no good reason,” the image reads. “#nocaptionneeded,” he wrote as his caption. Those posts are vague but generally pleasant. We wish that we could say the same for Jonathan and Fernanda’s marriage. “I haven’t spoken to Fernanda since December 22,” Jonathan clarified last week . “I have a lot going on,” he explained. “And so in the midst of all the craziness, I try to focus on what’s important.” Even so, he wanted to make it extremely clear that Fernanda isn’t any more of a villain than he is. “Fernanda’s not a gold digger,” he affirmed. “Fernanda didn’t come here for a green card.” “What happened was things change,” he admitted. “Things change and people change and I can’t help that.” “Every marriage has its problems. Every relationship has its issues,” Jonathan said on Instagram Live. “It’s all about your attitude,” he noted. “As long as you’re positive… [I] gotta take it day by day.” “I promise you, I didn’t give up,” he assured fans. I gave 110 percent to my marriage.” In the end, he says: “I reached a point where I said, ‘I have to love myself just as much.'” We hope that, at some point, Jon or Fernanda or both of them will explain what happened. Until then, they’re clearly both in a lot of pain. That said, there are far less healthy couples on 90 Day Fiance . Leida Margaretha: 90 Day Fiance Villain Accused of Violent Attack

Leida Margaretha may have been the most hated cast member of her 90 Day Fiance season, which is quite the accomplishment. During the Tell All Part 2 , Leida’s conflict with Eric Rosenbrook’s daughter took center stage. But now her former sister-in-law has come forward to accuse Leida of a brutal violent attack. Leida Margaretha has a young son, Alessandro, from a previous relationship. Alessandro’s father is a man named Daniel, and Daniel’s sister is a woman named Amelia. (Amelia is still Alessandro’s aunt) She says that Leida’s toxic behavior began long, long before she ever became a reality star. Amelia went on social media and claimed that Leida attacked her when they were still sisters-in-law. And Leida was apparently being investigated by the police for this particular attack. To no one’s surprise, this apparently began with an argument between Leida and Daniel. After the bickering, Leida wanted Amelia to return with her to her parents’ house — but Amelia did not want to. “The next morning she was mad at me and destroy all me belongings,” Amelia says. She explains that Leida felt entitled to do so “because she thinks all my belongings is belong to her.” Amelia accuses Leida of stealing money from her and of threatening to ruin Daniel’s business, financed by her wealthy family, if they broke up. Beware, folks, because this is where the details turn violent. Amelia says that Leida has “anger issues” that drove her to track Amelia down when she was staying at her aunt’s house. She says that Leida arrived uninvited and was “screaming because I talk back to her.” Leida was allegedly “really mad” and “hit me and punch me in my face and my head at the same time.” Amelia also says that Leida kicked her during this encounter. She notes that, during the assault, Leida allegedly shouted “you should die!!” Obviously, a physical attack is the sort of thing where police get involved. Amelia says that she did press charges — initially. But Leida allegedly went to great lengths to “manipulate me to drop the case,” Amelia says. And, eventually, it worked. Amelia blames herself for dropping the charges, lamenting that she was “stupid and innocent.” There are a lot of violent, manipulative people in this world. It is never the victim’s fault. Amelia had much more to say about Leida, including accusing her of using expensive gifts to “blackmail” her own friends. At times, she would allegedly give someone a gift and then threaten to take it back if they displeased her. Amelia also says that Leida would surprise people with gifts, like a concert ticket to see Katy Perry, and later claim that the person begged for it. That also sounds nasty and toxic … and there’s more. Amelia says that Leida had very specifically banged on her door, screamed at her, and invaded her privacy over having a “messy room.” Does this sound familiar to anyone else? It should. Messiness was Leida’s exact issue with Eric’s teenage daughter, Tasha, whom she forced out of her own home. Leida’s own castmates were horrified and shocked by Leida’s treatment of Tasha. The only thing worse to them, some of whom are parents themselves, was the way that Eric seemed to accept Leida’s behavior. He admitted that he knew that Leida had called his own daughter a “bitch.” He didn’t seem to care. He also caved to Leida’s emotional blackmail and banned his own daughter from her apartment. As of the Tell All’s filming, he and Tasha have no relationship, and he sounds perfectly happy with that. Maybe he and Leida deserve each other. Eric has seen these accusations against Leida — taking aim at Soap Dirt for covering these same social media posts. He then tells them their business, insisting that they should hear both sides if they wish to be taken seriously. Our take is that Eric is the last person to lecture people on taking people seriously. Also, Soap Dirt and other outlets are just reporting Amelia’s accusations, the same as we are. If Eric wants to share Leida’s side of the alleged violent attack, he is free to do that. View Slideshow: 90 Day Fiance: Twitter Reacts to the Tell All

Mainstream Media Needs To Figure Out How To Call Racists Racist

Read more here:

T here are certain rules that journalists have to follow that oftentimes fall at odds with the general public. For instance, I see a lot of frustration when headlines use the word “alleged” for crimes that most people feel are obvious. However, journalists must use the word until a crime is proven in a court of law. The rules of journalism are strict and it largely revolves around the possibility of being sued and facing monetary repercussions. That’s one reason there’s so much attention placed to a news outlet’s stylebook that dictates rules for how it addresses certain topics (as well as what phrases or words they capitalize, etc.). But in this age of normalized nationalism where the president refers to Black and brown nations as “ shithole countries ” and congressmen openly support white supremacy, it’s time that mainstream publications definitively add another word to their stylebooks: racist. Comb through any popular publication and you’ll see something between reluctance to a downright refusal to call someone racist. Even actions fall under this passivity. Just this morning, NBC reportedly sent out a memo discouraging it staff from calling Iowa Rep. Steve King’s remarks – asking why the term “white supremacist” was offensive – racist: “Be careful to avoid characterizing [King’s] remarks as racist. It is ok to attribute to others as in ‘what many are calling racist’ or something like that.” READ MORE: Steve King Is So Racist He Didn’t Even Like Shucking And Jiving Ben Carson While NBC quickly walked back its tone-deaf directive following an immediate backlash on social media, it was, of course, part of a larger trend of media mincing words to prevent appearing controversial or coming off as opinionated in straight news stories. It’s why so many news outlets are also reluctant to use the word “lie” to describe the many times Donald Trump, well, lies, throughout the course of a day. Instead, we get words like “falsehoods” or statements that he’s said something that’s “been disproved.” When it comes to racism, the New York Times and the like would rather say “racially tinged” or “racially charged” instead of outright calling an action racist. Even when the racist action is undeniable, like with Steve King’s comments, every publication seems to fall short of calling the person behind said racist action a racist. 'racially tinged' is when a Klan member washes their robes with other red clothes and everything comes out pink — Swole Porter. (@GeeDee215) January 15, 2019 The problem with the word “racist” is that there’s always deniability on the part of the accused. Nobody calls him or herself a racist so there’s always the possibility of legal action coming towards an outlet that labels a person a such. But that’s a convenient argument. Part – if not most – of the problem comes from so many in the media wanting to appease white bases, fearing a backlash from a fraction of the populace who would be offended by even hinting at using the word “racist.” The fact is, Donald Trump and his political ilk have pushed mainstream discussions of race so far right that the media trying to find a middle ground have consequently caused publications to likewise move in the same direction language-wise. It might have seemed unheard of years ago that the mainstream media would find itself in a position to have to call a sitting president an outright racist. Such an act would have been beyond the bounds of objective journalism. But that’s not the case anymore. Donald Trump has called Mexicans rapists and thieves. He’s sided with white supremacists who murdered a woman in Charlottesville. He’s called for the death penalty for innocent Black people. He’s used the word “shithole” to describe African and Caribbean countries. He continues to disrespect every Black woman reporter who asks him a question. Donald Trump is a racist. And if we can’t call him one then what’s the point of having a journalistic institution that claims to report facts? For some, the idea of a racist is subjective. However, it’s time for publications to empower their reporters with an apparatus to determine what constitutes fair ability to call someone or an act racist. The word “racist” needs to be in every stylebook across the country with clearly defined parameters and if someone meets those parameters then the word should be used. Donald Trump is a racist. Steve King is a racist. The men who marched in Charlottesville are racists. I’m glad that I write for a place that allows me to say that. It’s a disservice to the country that more journalists can’t do the same. David Dennis, Jr. is a writer and adjunct professor of Journalism at Morehouse College. David’s writing has appeared in The Guardian, The Smoking Section, Uproxx, Playboy, The Atlantic, Complex.com and wherever people argue about things on the internet. Sarah Hyland: I Came Very, Very Close to Committing Suicide

Late last year, Modern Family star Sarah Hyland revealed her second kidney transplant and shared that she had been experiencing suicidal ideation. Now, speaking to Ellen DeGeneres, she is elaborating on that experience. Sarah even explains how she fought back against the overpowering desire to end her own life. As we have reported, Sarah Hyland's health battle is more like a health war, made up of many individual battles. As she notes to Ellen, she has undergone 16 surgeries. Sarah adds that she has received two kidney transplants. She also has endometriosis, an extremely painful condition. A couple of years ago, her body went into rejection of her transplanted kidney, forcing her to go on dialysis. Sarah has also been plagued by gout, a condition in which agonizing crystals form, often on the joints of the hips. All of this was while she was filming Modern Family . Sarah opened up to Ellen about her constant agony and medical trauma nearly drove her to take her own life. “At the time I was 26, but after 26, 27 years of just always being sick and being in chronic pain every single day,” Sarah says. “And,” she continues. “You don’t know when you’re going to have the next good day, it’s really, really hard.” “I would write letters in my head to loved ones of why I did it,” she says, referring to contemplating suicide. “And,” she continues. “My reasoning behind it, how it was nobody’s fault.” “I didn’t want to write it down on paper,” Sarah adds. “Because I didn’t want anybody to find it.” “That’s how serious I was,” Sarah Hyland says. She admits that she came “very, very, very close” to ending her life. Sometimes, a person experiences a life change that helps them avoid acting upon suicidal ideation. But Sarah had to be her own hero. “It ended up being myself that got me out of that,” Sarah reveals. “I had to do it on my own,” Sarah explains. “I told myself I had to do it on my own.” She shares a tip that could help others save their own lives. “Just saying it out loud helped immensely,” Sarah reveals. “Because,” she continues. “I kept it to myself for months and months at a time,” “I didn’t want anybody to know that I was that close,” she explains. “Because if they knew,” Sarah adds. “They would try to persuade me.” “Every person with their anxiety or depression or if you have suicidal thoughts, every individual is different,” Sarah is quick to note. What worked for one person might not work for another. “So,” she continues. “I wouldn’t just rely on everything that I say.” “I’m just sharing my story,” Sarah emphasizes. “But,” she concludes. “I think talking to someone and saying it out loud really, really makes it sound almost ridiculous and it puts it into perspective.” Sarah's reasoning makes a lot of sense. Sometimes a problem, whether it's a relationship issue or a programming bug or a case of writer's block, has a solution. There are times when all that the person needs to do is explain the problem to another person in order for the solution to occur to them. In Sarah's case, she is saying that speaking about her suicidal ideation helped her to dismiss the idea of actually ending her life. She has so much to live for. There are millions of Americans with chronic pain who, thanks to reactionary laws and policies, are struggling to get effective painkillers. We hope that Sarah's brave words can help them and others.

Cops Called On R. Kelly As He Celebrates Birthday In Chicago

Source: Scott Legato / Getty Cops Show Up To R. Kelly’s Birthday Party It seems R. Kelly isn’t safe in his hometown anymore—and rightfully so. After Surviving R. Kelly  further enlightened the nation as to just how disgusting and disturbed the singer is , he decided to throw himself a birthday party this week anyway. Cops showed up after someone called 9-1-1 to reveal his whereabouts, with the caller also mentioning there was a warrant out for R. Kelly’s arrest. Click here to listen to the dispatcher put a call in for Chicago PD units. From TMZ : Kelly was partying his ass off at V75 Chicago early Thursday morning when cops say someone dropped a dime … calling them to say Kelly was there, and had a warrant for his arrest. Check out the police dispatcher putting the call out to Chicago PD units. Unfortunately, the cops had to leave without making an arrest: Law enforcement confirmed to TMZ they did indeed go to the club and made contact with Kelly — however, once they determined there was NO actual arrest warrant … Kelly was free to go about his business. It’s unclear if the caller was just pranking Kelly, or if the person really thought there was an arrest warrant … but cops tell us they routinely respond to such calls … just to make sure. Clearly, folks want him behind bars. As for his birthday party, he was heard possibly referencing Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly doc , saying “I don’t give a fu** what’s going on tonight” while singing “Bump N’ Grind” to the crowd. See that disturbing clip here . Hopefully, the super creep is locked up SOON.

Derick Dillard Calls His Children a Curse, Is Still Just Terrible

Does anyone actually like Derick Dillard? They don’t, right? Please say they don’t. For some reason, lots of people sure do seem to enjoy the Duggars, and in a genuine way, even, and that’s one thing. But even those people don’t care for Derick, do they? It’s just that he’s so annoying and offensive , and he’s really serious about it, too. When it comes to the rest of their family, they have their beliefs that rub a lot of us the wrong way, but Derick seems to truly delight in saying ignorant things. Remember back when he got super obsessed with running his mouth about Jazz Jennings , the transgender girl ( and literal child ) who has her own show on TLC? It was weird, it made everyone uncomfortable, and that’s just sort of what this guy is all about. He says awful things almost exclusively, and so it’s really no surprise that he went and talked trash about his own kids on Twitter. Derick, along with the rest of the family, is big on sharing Bible verses on social media, and this one he posted from Proverbs reads “Whoever blesses his neighbor with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, will be counted as cursing.” Along with the verse, he added a question: “Does this apply to the tiny people living in one’s house?” Just in case you didn’t go to bible school and have a tough time figuring out the meaning of these kind of weirdly worded excerpts, the phrase “counted as cursing” here is more commonly worded as “counted as a curse.” So essentially the message is “Whoever wakes his neighbor up by being loud is a curse.” And he’s interested in seeing if he can tweak that to include his own children. What a peach! Derick and Jill have two sons , three-year-old Israel and one-year-old Samuel. They are precious boys, and we’re sure that they are pretty loud, even in the mornings when their parents might prefer to get a little more sleep. That’s just sort of how toddlers are. But to good ol’ Derick here? They’re a curse. And don’t think for one second that his followers didn’t call him out on his bizarre tweet. “How blessed you are to have children,” one woman replied. “I had infertility for 13 years and would give anything for a child to be in my house raising their voice. You are blessed!” Another person asked “Are you equating your loving joyful children taking you up as them cursing? Lots of people would love to have children to do that and vice versa, consider yourself blessed.” One of his followers went the sarcastic route, asking him “Isn’t the blanket training working yet?” Someone else said that “Derick doesn’t hide the fact that his own children bother the sh-t out of him and he finds them extremely annoying. Father of the year!” Look, we’ve got no love for Derick, but of course a lot of parents make comments about how they’d enjoy it if their kids slept in a little more, right? The difference is that Derick constantly comes across as an absolute douchebag with every single thing he says. View Slideshow: Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard Net Worth: Are They REALLY Broke?!
