Britney Spears’ Big 2011: From A Smash Album To A Ring On Her Finger

A decade into her career, the pop megastar reinvented herself this year as the ultimate Femme Fatale and made a big commitment to Jason Trawick. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Getty Images Maybe Britney Spears ‘ lucky number is 30. The singer turned 30 this year, marking the landmark birthday on December 2 with a fan-voted MTV News tournament that crowned the Best Britney Video of All Time . But her 30th year also proved to be an incredibly successful period in her career. For the first time in a while, she seemed comfortable being the pop megastar that she is. More than a decade into her career, Spears re-emerged as a Femme Fatale, giving fans a fist-pumping album, embarking on a flashy tour and dropping more memorable music videos. Britney Spears fandom was reenergized as the singer came out of her shell, opening up about this phase in her career as well her personal life in several high-profile interviews. So it’s probably not surprising that Spears will cap off the year at #4 on MTV News’ Top Newsmakers of 2011 list, just behind Lil Wayne. “When I was younger, I was busy, busy, and I was always singing and dancing all the time. I was just really creative,” she recalled in the MTV special “I Am the Femme Fatale.” “That’s when my mom realized I’m a really creative person.” She let that creativity shine over the past 12 months. From “Hold It Against Me” to “Till the World Ends” to her Chris Marrs Piliero-directed “I Wanna Go” and “Criminal,” Britney made headlines every time she dropped a music video. But no vid stirred up as much controversy as her “Criminal” clip , which featured real-life boyfriend (now fianc

Lindsey Vonn, Husband to Divorce

Olympic skiing gold medalist Lindsey Vonn is officially back on the market. The 27-year-old has filed for divorce from Thomas Vonn, Yahoo! reports . “This is an extremely difficult time in my personal life and I hope the media and my fans can respect my need for privacy on this matter,” she said in a statement. Thomas Vonn, a former Olympic skier himself, had been her chief adviser and scheduler. “[I will] continue to be coached by the U.S. ski team,” Lindsey added. Their relationship caused a rift between Lindsey and her father Alan Kildow, due in part to their nine-year age difference. Kildow, who was replaced by Thomas as her coach and mentor, was not invited to the couple’s 2007 wedding. Lindsey is one of five women to have won World Cup races in all five disciplines of alpine skiing: Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom, Slalom and Combined. The Minnesotan won the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Equally impressively, SI published these ludicrously hot Lindsey Vonn photos . [Photo: WENN.com]

Demi Lovato: A Role Model For Girls?

“There was nobody out there for me to look at and say maybe this is unhealthy. I want to be that for a 13-year old girl at home deciding whether or not to eat dinner, or an 18-year-old girl deciding whether or not to keep her breakfast down.” – Demi Lovato Her “emotional and physical issues” are well-documented, but rather than hide from them, Disney starlet Demi Lovato says she wants to be a role model. Lovato, 19, who used to cut herself and who has battled eating disorders, appears on an episode of the The Ellen DeGeneres Show scheduled to air Tuesday. She says she wants to be “outspoken” and freely talk about her “issues” because when she grew up, she “was dealing with the pressures to be thin.” “It was the time in the tabloids when very, very skinny girls were on the cover of every magazine, and that’s what I was looking up to,” she says. “That’s what I had to idolize. I don’t want that for young girls.” While she calls her old life a “mess,” right now, it is what it is. In fact, at this point, she’s actually grateful for her “meltdown.” “So many things were going great in my life, and then all of a sudden my personal life just went down at crazy speeds,” the “Skyscraper” singer says. “I had a negative breakdown and it changed my life forever.” “But if I hadn’t gone into treatment,” she continues, “I don’t know if, one, I’d even be sitting here today, [or] two, if I’d even be alive today.” We’re so grateful that she is, and hope that young people can take what she says seriously. It’s good that she’s up front about her past, don’t you think?

Kurt Angle on Warrior, His Longtime Acting Ambition and Following The Rock Out of the WWE

It’s a curious version of the real pro wrestler Kurt Angle that you get from the ring persona he’s projected over the years as a star of the WWE (née WWF ) and now TNA Wrestling, where he’s currently the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. The real-life former Olympic wrestler has played off his 1996 gold medal win as wrestling’s bona fide “American Hero” since his 1998 WWF debut, juggling multiple wrestling companies and countless ring titles while a version of his own personal life, warped through the wrestling world’s faux-realist backstage lens, is broadcast every week to millions of fans. But what Angle really wants to do — what he wanted to do even before pro wrestling came calling — is act. Seriously act.

Highlights From Last Night’s Episode Of “Lala’s Full Court Life” [RECAP]

See the original post:

Last night was the second episode of “Lala’s Full Court Life” on Vh1. On this episode, Lala helped celebrate her Bff Kelly Rowland’s 30th birthday. Lala, Kelly and Po released some stress at the gun range and then Kelly got her very first tattoo with her bff’s Lala and Serena Williams by her side. Lala then let us into her personal life and showed us that even for a super star like her, booking gigs and getting auditions is not easy and requires hard work! She took us behind the scenes as she was getting ready to host the red carpet at the “Critics Choice Awards” and even let us in on her “wardrobe malfunction”. Lala also touched on Carmelo’s NBA trade and the rumors that he wanted to leave Denver and head to New York only because of her. I absolutely love Lala’s show because it shows such positivity relationships with love, family and friendship. It’s great to see a positive black couple on reality television for a change with minimal drama! What did you think about this week’s episode? Will you tune into next week’s episode?
