WATCH: Snoop Dogg Is Snoop Lion in Reggae Doc Reincarnated

“I didn’t just want to come here and say I made a record in Jamaica and grew some dreadlocks,” insists rapper Snoop Dogg in the trailer for Reincarnated , announced today as an official selection of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. “Rastafari called me.” Watch the trailer for Reincarnated for your first glimpse of Snoop Dogg — or rather, Snoop Lion, his newly minted reggae identity — leaving hip-hop behind to sing and smoke up a storm in his new rasta life. The doc, a co-production of Vice Films and Snoop’s own Snoopadelic Films, probably isn’t a terribly incisive or objective look at the musician’s musical shift, and it’s unclear how fleeting an alter ego “Snoop Lion” will be in the long run. But as the trailer speeds through a montage of Snoop’s past, it makes a case for why the erstwhile Calvin Broadus might have sought spiritual rebirth after a decades-long career in the rap game that has seen friends and collaborators pass on, sometimes violently. Beyond the personal loss of figures like Tupac and Nate Dogg, Snoop’s musical career has seemed to plateau in the last decade; how did the slim (with the tilted brim) rapper behind 1993’s “Doggystyle” wind up phoning in verses on Katy Perry Top 40 hits, writing rap songs about True Blood and roasting Donald Trump? Seizing the opportunity for Ali-esque cross-cultural/getting-in-touch-with-his-roots drama, Reincarnated came about when Snoop traveled to Jamaica to record with the producer Diplo. “While there,” explains the synopsis, “Snoop finds himself embraced by the Jamaican people, is positively impacted by Rastafarian culture, and becomes reincarnated as Snoop Lion.” Verdict: It all sounds so perfectly calculated. And yet, compared to Snoop’s post-fame exploits, it might also be his most sincere artistic expression in years. Reincarnated will screen at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival. "Female Sandusky" Sarah Jones Denies Sexual Abuse Allegations

Former Cincinnati Bengals cheerleader Sarah Jones , a.k.a. the female Sandusky, is firing back at her at critics and the rumors about her personal life despite a request by prosecutors for a gag order in her sexual assault case. Once the captain of the Cincinnati Ben-Gals (get it?!) and a former high school teacher, Sarah Jones is accused of sexually abusing a student and unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual activity. “I read on a blog that I was the female Jerry Sandusky . To read those things and not be able to comment, not be able to stick up for myself is not fair,” said the Kenton County, Ky., resident in an interview with ABC News. “There’s blogs and postings out there that I have slept with numerous people. I married my high school sweetheart,” said Jones. “People don’t know the real me. I just asked the general public to maybe hold their judgment a little bit longer until the truth comes out.” Prosecutors asked a judge for a gag order on Monday to stop Jones from talking after she went on her lawyer’s radio show earlier this month. She went on the show to refute the charges against her . Jones’ lawyer, Eric Deters, filed a motion to dismiss all charges due to lack of evidence. “They have no evidence that sexual relations of any type took place in any of the 50 United States of America,” Deters told ABC station WCPO. The judge said she would review the motions. Prosecutors, for their part, say they will be proceeding with their case against Jones as planned. “We won’t be sending out motions, we won’t be going on radio shows. You will be hearing our arguments about evidence in court,” said a spokesman. Last fall, the then-26-year-old Sarah was teaching at Dixie Heights High School and accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student. Jones’ mother, Cheryl Jones – a middle school principal in the same school district – is accused of tampering with evidence in the case. Sarah Jones resigned from her position in November 2011. Both mother and daughter pleaded not guilty in April at their arraignment. Both Sarah and Cheryl Jones were joined by dozens of supporters. Including the family of the alleged victim, no less. The victim’s name has not been released due to his age. “The hardest thing has been having not only me go through it, but to have my mom go through it with me,” said Sarah Jones. “It’s almost kind of a guilty feeling that she is even involved in this because what has happened to her is not fair. My goal is for her charges to be dismissed.” Jones’ lawyer is also demanding the prosecution be sanctioned for saying in court that Jones allegedly sent a text to the victim saying “deny everything.” The prosecution described other texts with the victim as “steamy.” “I think people are taking this whole student-teacher thing… Yes, he was a student but he was not my student,” said Jones. “He was a family friend and I am very close to his parents. Had it not been for their support it would be very difficult to get through this without them.”

Justin Bieber Hangs Up on Interviewer Over Justin Timberlake Comparisons, Harry Styles Questions

Justin Bieber did not take too kindly to questions on the “Mojo in the Morning” radio show recently, quickly becoming agitated and ultimately hanging up. Comparisons to Justin Timberlake were the main catalyst, with references to Bieber’s mom and One Direction’s Harry Styles the apparent final straw. “I hope you take this as a compliment,” stated Mojo. “When I heard ‘Boyfriend’ for the very first time. I thought it was Justin Timberlake’s single.” Justin Bieber Hangs Up on Mojo in the Morning Justin Bieber was far from flattered. “Man, that’s crazy because our voices sound nothing alike,” he said. “I mean, I’m not trying to sound like anyone.” “Saying I sound like someone else is not really a compliment. … if you were to say ‘I heard some Justin Timberlake-esque things,’ I would take that as a compliment.” That minor stiff was nothing compared to the reaction he had when Mojo decided to bring up Bieber’s mother and One Direction singer Harry Styles. After the radio host joked that Styles might end up seducing his mother, given his penchant for older women, Bieber went on the offensive. “I don’t think you should worry about me [and my mom with Harry Styles],” the 18-year-old sensation said. “Worry about your mom, bro.” Mojo then noted that his mom had passed away, right before Bieber peaced out. Awkward. What do you think of Bieber’s reaction in hanging up?

Celebrities Tweet Congratulations to Anderson Cooper

In a thoughtful, well-reasoned statement, Anderson Cooper came out as a proud gay man today, saying: “Recently I’ve begun to consider whether the unintended outcomes of maintaining my privacy outweigh personal and professional principle. It’s become clear to me that by remaining silent on certain aspects of my personal life for so long, I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something – something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid. “This is distressing because it is simply not true.” In response to the (not surprising) reveal, many celebrities have taken to Twitter and sent the CNN anchor their best wishes. A sampling is below: Neil Patrick Harris : “Good for you, @AndersonCooper. You’re awesome.” Jesse Tyler Ferguson : “One of the reasons I look up to my friend @andersoncooper is his amazing eloquence. Very proud of him!” Ellen DeGeneres : “I’m proud of you, @AndersonCooper.” LeAnn Rimes : “Rock on @AndersonCooper for being a brave, classy man. Much respect!” Kelly Ripa : “So proud of you @andersoncooper . Always have been, always will be.” Sara Bareilles : “I applaud @andersoncooper for being authentic and honest with the public. It helps others feel brave too.” Joan Rivers : “Thrilled @AndersonCooper came out! So, THAT’S why he never wanted to date me! I would’ve loved having Gloria Vanderbilt as my mother-in-law.”

SMH: Shady One-Time Officers Who Leaked Pics Of Rihanna After Breezy Beat Her Down Will Not Face Any Charges…

LAPD Officers Suspected Of Domestic Violence Photos Of Rihanna Won’t Face Charges The police officers who many believe were behind the leak of Rihanna’s domestic violence incident report photos won’t be charged. SMH. Two Los Angeles police officers won’t face criminal charges alleging they leaked a photo of pop star/actress Rihanna’s bruised and beaten face after she was assaulted by singer Chris Brown, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said. An internal report by prosecutors says that after a three-year investigation, they didn’t have enough evidence to show celebrity news website TMZ paid the accused officers for the photo, and that became an obstacle in charging them. The Associated Press report obtained a copy of the March 28 report Thursday after its contents were first reported by the Los Angeles Times. Officers Blanca Lopez and Rebecca Reyes may still get fired. They are slated to appear before disciplinary panels in August. Brown, who was Rihanna’s boyfriend at the time, was arrested on suspicion of beating the Grammy winner on Feb. 8, 2009, leaving her bloody and bruised. The “Umbrella” and “Only Girl (in the World)” songstress, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, canceled her Grammy performance that year after the incident. Brown pleaded guilty to attacking Rihanna and was ordered to serve five years on supervised probation and to complete six months of community service including roadside cleanup, graffiti removal and manual labor. Prosecutors allege the photo was leaked after a stack of photographs of Rihanna’s injuries was left lying on a desk at the Wilshire police station and Reyes took a picture of the top photo with her phone. Prosecutors say Reyes later emailed the image from her LAPD email address to her personal email address. Reyes and Lopez were roommates at the time, and phone records showed that they made multiple phone calls to Fox and TMZ in February. The photo shocked fans and prompted a national conversation about domestic violence after it spread through the media. But despite a search of Reyes’ and Lopez’s bank accounts, a money trail was not discovered tying the leak to them, prosecutors said. In order to prove the officers broke the law, prosecutors said in the report they “must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Reyes and Lopez disclosed the image of Robyn F. (Rihanna) to TMZ and obtained money in exchange for this disclosure.” The prosecutors’ report noted that other LAPD personnel had access to the photos. “As such, although both Reyes and Lopez’s actions are suspicious, they are insufficient to support a criminal prosecution,” the report says. Rihanna’s attorney Donald Etra said Thursday he does not know at this time whether the singer wants to pursue any further legal action. “Apparently this was an internal decision by the district attorney. A victim’s privacy should be protected,” Etra said. It’s a damn shame people disrespect victim’s rights like that. The really crazy part is if you search these broads names online you have a better chance at finding photos of Chris Brown and Rihanna than them! That’s cray… These broads need to at least be stripped of their badges since no charges will come of this. SMH. Source Retna

‘Hollywood Exes’ Is A ‘Relatable Show,’ Stars Say

‘The exes were the common denominator but not the show; they wanted to focus on us,’ Will Smith’s first wife, Sheree Fletcher, tells MTV News. By Kara Warner “Hollywood Exes” stars Mayte Garcia and Sheree Fletcher Photo: The stars of VH1’s “Hollywood Exes,” premiering tonight (June 27), knew they’d have to stand out from the pack of reality shows — and stand out they do. The show revolves around Nicole Murphy, Sheree Fletcher, Jessica Canseco, Andrea Kelly and Mayte Garcia. Their initial ground for group bonding is the fact that they all have famous ex-husbands. When MTV News caught up with three of the five lovely ladies, we asked what made them agree to let cameras into their personal lives. “The reason I decided to do the show was, first of all, the castmembers, the women,” said Garcia, who was married to Prince. “The idea that was pitched to me was it being about us. Yes, we were married to them, but we’re all individuals. I’m an artist, she’s an artist, she has a business. It’s about showing who we are, so I decided to do it. Especially after meeting [the show’s creators], I knew it was going to be good. I’m old enough now to trust my gut.” “I loved the vision of the creators,” added Fletcher, who was Will Smith’s first wife. “I loved their concept, like a sorority of sorts, women coming together with similar experiences, and that was kind of the common denominator. The exes were the common denominator but not the show; they wanted to focus on us. They wanted to see us in our many facets of life, be it moms or businesswomen or artists, what have you, and life after divorce. It’s got a lot of different dynamics, and I think it’s a very relatable show.” The ladies promised that the audience will get to see them go through good times and challenging times, and no matter what impression you may have had about them beforehand, they’ll win you over with their independent spirits, business savvy and strength. Watch “Hollywood Exes” Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.

Linkin Park’s LIVING THINGS: The Personal Album For The Masses

‘[Our songs] can be felt on so many different levels,’ Chester Bennington says of LP’s latest, in stores Tuesday. By James Montgomery Linkin Park Photo: When Linkin Park began the process of making LIVING THINGS, they weren’t sure where the journey would take them … after all, the last time they headed down this path — on 2010’s A Thousand Suns — their voyage ended up in decidedly dystopian territory: It was, for all intents and purposes, an album that sounded like a sonic apocalypse, and dealt with similarly dark themes. But to be honest, that didn’t dissuade them. Because, as they’ve discovered over their 15-year career, creative uncertainty is practically par for the course. It truly seems that Linkin Park don’t know what kind of album they’re making until it’s done. And even then, sometimes they’re still not sure. “When we’re writing a record, there’s a misconception [that] maybe [we’re] thinking of something, and planning a goal, trying to imagine a song and then making a song,” Mike Shinoda told MTV News during “MTV First: Linkin Park.” “That’s not how we work. We basically sit down with instruments and try to pull it down out of the air. You go into it without thinking, and then you see what comes out. And in the process of making the last record, a lot of what was popping out was about nuclear war, stuff like that. I think, having gotten that out of our system, this record, when we sat down to write songs, it was always personal, and it kept happening.” And while most of the advance press about LIVING THINGS (in stores Tuesday) seemed to focus on LP ditching the political for the personal, that may not actually be the case. Because Linkin Park keep coming back to the idea of uncertainty … to them, the songs on their new album are meant to be taken however their fans choose to take them. Sure, they may be drawing from the personal, but they’re meant for the masses. Pure and simple. And though they’ve changed plenty over the years, that aspect of their music remains steadfastly, immutably unaltered. “You can look at a song like ‘CASTLE OF GLASS,’ which for me, has one of the most interesting opposing points of view,” Chester Bennington said. “When Mike was talking about the lyrics, at one point he had said, ‘You know, it’s kind of like finding yourself as this broken part of this big machine, and feeling like you’re not part of that, or trying to find your place in the bigger scheme of things.’ And that can mean a solider coming home from war, and trying to fit back into society, or a person getting out of prison, or whatever. “And here I am, envisioning this big, beautiful glass castle on a hill, and, like, unicorns. I’m thinking like ‘Yeah, if you zoom in, I’m this little broken part of this castle that no one knows about, and I may seem like flawed and not important, but when you back up and look at the big picture, you’re part of this really beautiful thing that keeps you together,” he continued. “And it was a really interesting twist; I think a lot of our lyrics can be taken from multiple perspectives, depending on what you want the song to be about … they can be felt on so many different levels.” What do you think of Linkin Park’s new album?
