‘The exes were the common denominator but not the show; they wanted to focus on us,’ Will Smith’s first wife, Sheree Fletcher, tells MTV News. By Kara Warner “Hollywood Exes” stars Mayte Garcia and Sheree Fletcher Photo: The stars of VH1’s “Hollywood Exes,” premiering tonight (June 27), knew they’d have to stand out from the pack of reality shows — and stand out they do. The show revolves around Nicole Murphy, Sheree Fletcher, Jessica Canseco, Andrea Kelly and Mayte Garcia. Their initial ground for group bonding is the fact that they all have famous ex-husbands. When MTV News caught up with three of the five lovely ladies, we asked what made them agree to let cameras into their personal lives. “The reason I decided to do the show was, first of all, the castmembers, the women,” said Garcia, who was married to Prince. “The idea that was pitched to me was it being about us. Yes, we were married to them, but we’re all individuals. I’m an artist, she’s an artist, she has a business. It’s about showing who we are, so I decided to do it. Especially after meeting [the show’s creators], I knew it was going to be good. I’m old enough now to trust my gut.” “I loved the vision of the creators,” added Fletcher, who was Will Smith’s first wife. “I loved their concept, like a sorority of sorts, women coming together with similar experiences, and that was kind of the common denominator. The exes were the common denominator but not the show; they wanted to focus on us. They wanted to see us in our many facets of life, be it moms or businesswomen or artists, what have you, and life after divorce. It’s got a lot of different dynamics, and I think it’s a very relatable show.” The ladies promised that the audience will get to see them go through good times and challenging times, and no matter what impression you may have had about them beforehand, they’ll win you over with their independent spirits, business savvy and strength. Watch “Hollywood Exes” Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on VH1.

Stars share the strangest pregnancy facts they learned during filming. By Kara Warner Anna Kendrick and Chace Crawford in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” Photo: Melissa Moseley/ Lionsgate As if the film’s title weren’t explanation enough, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” is all about what couples experience during pregnancy, based on the best-selling nonfiction book of the same name. Because the subject is a complex, loaded and almost universal one, when MTV News sat down with the castmembers from the film, we asked them to enlighten us with the most unique facts they learned about pregnancy during production. “I think the weirdest thing I’ve seen — I’ve actually seen it — is a woman getting on her hands and knees giving birth,” Matthew Morrison said. “It’s interesting, because you think about a woman [lying on her back] and pushing, but honestly, if you let gravity do the work, it makes it a little easier.” “The squat position, there is a purpose for it — not just to lift the butt and tone the quads,” added Diaz, who plays Morrison’s girlfriend and baby mama in the movie. “But to open the hips and pelvis and let gravity do the work. The only reason a woman is on her back in our culture is so the doctor can see what’s going on. I say get a platform, squat over it, let the doctor be underneath it.” “If you want the baby to come right now, eat spicy food,” Ben Falcone (“Bridesmaids”) said of one tip he’d heard mentioned that might speed up delivery. “Have sex,” said his onscreen wife, Elizabeth Banks. “Sprint,” Falcone joked. “Sprint uphill.” “A lot of running is encouraged,” Banks continued with a smile. “Slam doors. Get surprised. Surprise her, scare her.” Chace Crawford and Anna Kendrick provided the most to-the-point advice, but because their characters have to deal with an unplanned pregnancy, their words of wisdom were how not to get pregnant in the first place. “Wrap it up. That’s what we learned on this shoot,” Crawford said of practicing safe sex with the use of condoms. “Right?” he asked Kendrick, who collapsed into a brief fit of giggles. “Never mind.” “Sorry. You completely lost me,” Kendrick laughed, before regaining composure. “Yeah, wrap it up to avoid pregnancy. And stay away from Chace Crawford; he’s irresistible.” Check out everything we’ve got on “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
Lily Collins tells MTV News her Snow is a ‘young woman who found out that she can save a prince as much as a prince can save her.’ By Kara Warner Lily Collins Photo: MTV News If you’re looking for a fun, fantastical, family-friendly movie to see this weekend, Tarsem’s “Mirror Mirror” has you covered. The visually appealing and star-studded film is a new spin on an old classic, featuring an exuberant “man child” of a prince played by Armie Hammer , Oscar winner Julia Roberts as an unhealthily vain Evil Queen and Lily Collins as a more independent and self-assured Snow White. When MTV News caught up with Roberts and Collins recently, we asked them to explain how their characters differ from the familiar fairy-tale mold. “I think she’s deeply misunderstood,” Roberts said of her Evil Queen. “And I think she is correct in her ambition and drive and desire and focus to annihilate Snow White. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. She’s clear,” she joked. “She’s exacting.” Collins explained that her Snow White is not your typical damsel in distress. “She really becomes a fighter, emotionally and physically, and turns into this young woman who found out that she can save a prince as much as a prince can save her,” she said. “She really becomes this fighter, and I got to swordfight and fence and wrestle and do all these cool things that you don’t normally associate with a princess.” Speaking of fighters and swordfights, we couldn’t help but ask for the castmembers’ opinions on the fact that another Snow White-centric film, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” will be hot on the heels of “Mirror Mirror” when it opens June 1 and how it might fare against their film. “I’m interested to see what they did,” Hammer admitted. “I think what we did is make a movie that’s family-friendly. The parents are going to go to it and enjoy it almost as much as the kids are. Plus our movie kicks that movie’s ass, let’s be honest,” he added with a grin. ” Yeah. And we’re out first. And we’re gonna kick their ass!” he joked, clearly not concerned with competing against “Huntsman.” “We’re gonna make so much more money than they are! Our Rotten Tomatoes score is gonna be so much higher.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Mirror Mirror.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘It’s weird when people say it’s an accident, ’cause I kinda meant to do it,’ Blake Anderson says of stunt gone wrong in MTV’s ‘First Date.’ By Rya Backer Cast of “Workaholics” Photo: MTV News As one of the co-stars of Comedy Central’s “Workaholics,” Blake Anderson has made his way into the hearts and televisions of many an American as Blake Henderson, the goofy member of the show’s trio who’s not above spending his week’s paycheck on a coat that looks like a bear, or talking his friends into foregoing their Thanksgiving plans to spend a weekend at a Hedonism resort in Jamaica. So when we sat down with Anderson following the castmembers’ “First Date” shoot, which premieres Tuesday on MTV.com, it was refreshing to know that his quirks and sense of humor — and those of his fellow Workaholics — are not just a stage persona. We asked for details on how he recently made headlines jumping off a roof and landing (not especially gracefully) onto a Comedy Central-branded beer pong table, reportedly fracturing his spine in the process. Oh, and Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator was there too — having a good laugh at Anderson’s expense. “It’s weird when people say it’s an accident, ’cause I kinda meant to do it,” he explained about the fall. “I was drunk and it was stupid. Don’t jump off roofs into hard surface areas.” His castmates (they are all good friends in real life), however, had a different perspective on the situation: “It was all CGI, it was a ploy to get more viewers. Thank you for viewing,” explained Adam DeVine, whose “Workaholics” character, Adam Demamp, was named one of MTV News’ Top 50 TV Characters of 2011 . The carnage, however, appears to be very real, with Anderson sporting a fresh scar from the incident on the left side of his back. Though DeVine once again refutes its veracity, asking, “… or is it CGI’d?” So exactly what was recent VMA winner Tyler, the Creator doing at his place? “We have those little rugrats runnin’ around at our parties sometimes,” Anderson said of his friendship with Odd Future. Fellow member Taco appeared in the show’s second-season premiere. Despite their ups and downs, so to speak, the groups remain friendly — despite some fighting words from the cast. “You’re not invited anymore, Tyler. And that’s on you, bro,” DeVine exclaimed. “Yeah, go ‘create’ some sh–,” added Anders Holm. You can see more with the cast of “Workaholics” on Tuesday when their episode of “First Date” goes live on MTV.com!
