What’s more…the premiere episode of season 8 didn’t disappoint. Where do we begin? Daenerys and Jon Snow are all coupled up and unaware that they’re blood relatives… that is until they make their way back to the North, where Jon reunites with his sisters Sansa and Arya, brother Bran, and best friend Sam Tarly. While there, Jon is criticized for bending the knee to Daenerys and Hand to the Queen, Tyrion, is warned the people of the North won’t accept her as queen unless she earns it. If you’ve been tracking the royal gossip these past few days, you know that Kensington Palace has been working hard to bury a story that simply refuses to go away. It all started with reports of a feud between Kate Middleton and her former friend, Rose Hanbury , the Marchioness of Cholmondeley. This developed into reports that William was having an affair with Hanbury . And there’s no greater indication that a piece of royal gossip has at least some basis in fact than a royal campaign to make sure it never sees the light of day. In that sense, William shot himself in the foot when he appealed to his journalist friend Richard Kay to print a story denouncing the rumors. In the week since, he may have made the situation worse by taking legal action against British media outlets who have continued to cover the affair. The Daily Beast is reporting today that at least one UK publication has received a sternly-worded letter from William’s preferred law firm of Harbottle and Lewis. “In addition to being false and highly damaging, the publication of false speculation in respect of our clients’ private life also constitutes a breach of his privacy pursuant to Article 8 of the European Convention to Human Rights,” the letter reads, in part. “The use of a legal letter by William as a future king is very much a move of last resort,” says Duncan Larcombe, former royal editor of the Sun . “If the stories of Kate freezing Rose out are true then whatever caused the falling out must have been very serious.” In his comments to The Daily Beast , Larcombe adds: “While traditionally, the British royal family would not take specific legal action — he old saying was ‘never complain and never explain’ — William and Harry are willing to do it in their own way.” Further complicating the situation is the fact that the British tabloid press is apparently in the habit of using coded language so as to convey privileged information to those in the know, while at the same time protecting themselves from a legal standpoint. “If you’ve been following the latest Kate Middleton hoo-hah but have been at a loss to understand what a ‘rural rivalry’ is, it’s Fleet Street’s way of hinting at the long-standing society rumor that Prince William has been caught [having an affair],” says a writer for Popbitch, which the Beast describes as “a showbiz industry newsletter.” Meanwhile, a report from Grazia claims that Kate is deeply upset to find her personal life the subject of continued gossip. “Kate doesn’t do arguments. If you upset her she freezes you out,” one insider claims. “There are very few leaks about what really goes on in the Cambridge household or their marriage, other than to say it’s a solid and happy one,” the source adds. “All of the speculation about this alleged falling out between Rose and Kate will have been upsetting for Kate. She won’t like being the subject of gossip, and neither will William, who is a very private person.” The insider adds that Kate and Will were initially able to laugh at the rumors, but are now finding it difficult to do so. “For the most part, Kate pays no attention to gossip and rumours and while I think they laughed it off at first, the fact this is still being talked about will, I imagine, unsettle them,” says the source. Another tipster adds that Will and Kate selected Norfolk — home to Rose Hanbury and her much older husband — as the center of their social circle specifically because it’s “a very ungossipy place.” We think it’s safe to say that’s no longer the case. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Herbert is facing a federal tax lien for failing to pay millions of dollars he owed the IRS . Rumor after rumor has claimed that Caitlyn Jenner and Sophia Hutchins are planning to marry . The reality is that neither of these gal pals have actually come forward to confirm that they’re officially dating. But now, Sophia is speaking openly of her “amazing, loving partner.” Take a look: Sophia Hutchins celebrated her birthday with Caitlyn and a horde of other guests. (She is 23 years old) She has the photos to prove it, which she uploaded to social media. “I have chosen to be very intentional about the people I surround myself with,” Sophia’s caption begins. She then advises her fans and followers to “surround yourself with those that inspire.” Sophia then rattles off a laundry list of desirable acquaintances. She suggests that people surround themselves with “those that are beautiful.” “Those that are genuine,” she adds. “Those that empower you.” “And,” Sophia notes. “Those that choose love.” She then expresses: “I am so lucky to have the friends, team, and amazing loving partner I have.” After making what many have read as a confirmation, she continues. “I cannot wait to share this year with all of these people,” Sophia writes. She adds: “and so many more that wouldn’t fit in this collage!” “Thanks for making my bday so special!” Sophia concludes. Caitlyn had a photo of her own to share on social media: “Happy Birthday to my little Sophia!” Cait captions the picture. She writes: “It was a great night last night.” “So few candles,” Cait observes. Is that more of a brag on Sophia for her youth, or on herself for snagging such a young … gal pal? Sophia replies: “Thank you babe.” As you can see for yourself, Sophia’s response includes a double-heart emoji often (but not exclusively) used by couples. So, is Caitlyn the “amazing, loving partner” to whom Sophia refers? Many people read her message as saying exactly that. The two have lived and traveled together for years. Lots of people have rooming situations that are purely platonic, but Cait is a millionaire. She doesn’t need help with rent or hotel prices. Why is this no-name declaration of love the closest that the two have come to confirming that they are in a relationship? That is anyone’s guess. Obviously, even though Cait is a public figure, she is not obligated to share any more of her personal life than she chooses. Some believe that she and Sophia want to live out in the open without the seriousness of confirming anything. But … others suggest another explanation. Caitlyn Jenner is a political conservative, even though she finally admitted that Trump sucks . Sophia is also noted for her conservative views, and said that she felt that Cait coming out as transgender helped her feel comfortable transitioning. When Sophia spoke about that, it was clear that she had been concerned about the image of trans folks and the LGBTQ+ community as being liberal. Caitlyn has received a great deal of backlash for espousing conservative views that are at odds with most within the trans community. Are Cait and Sophia hoping to avoid moving further into the spotlight as an alleged LGBTQ+ couple? Or maybe they are just taking things slowly and valuing a small degree of privacy. Every now and then, on a random Tuesday when most people are minding their own business and have too much going on in their lives to worry about anyone else, some man will take it upon himself to offer his unsolicited opinion on women’s attire. It could be anything from the weave in her hair to the color on her lip to the length of her dress, somewhere, some man is going to find an issue with one of those things and feel compelled to let the world know. And while the resounding response from women will be to ignore said man and not give a damn. Lifetime plans on making a miniseries about the iconic rap group, which will be executive produced by none other than fellow femcee Queen Latifah . According to Entertainment Weekly , Salt-N-Pepa will follow the story of nursing students Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton as they navigate the hip-hop landscape following their first recording experience with a friend’s school project. It’s also being reported that the miniseries will incorporate some of the group’s biggest hits such as “Let’s Talk About Sex,” “What a Man” and our personal favorite“Shoop.” Not many details have been released about the film and no one has been cast quite yet, Variety noted . Not only was it the best-selling book of 2018 in the U.S , but it’s very close to becoming the most successful memoir of all-time. It’s being reported that she’s sold nearly 10 million copies around the world since its November debut. “We believe this could be the most successful memoir in history,” Thomas Rabe, head of one of Penguin Random House’s parent companies, said Tuesday according to the Wall Street Journal. Penguin’s chief executive, Markus Dohle co-signed on Rabe’s sentiments. “I’m not aware, in my personal experience with Penguin Random House, that we ever sold 10 million units of a memoir,” he said. The Hill reported that a Penguin Random House spokeswoman confirmed the numbers, saying on Tuesday that, in the United States and Canada alone, “Becoming” has “sold more than 6.2 million units across print, digital, and audio formats since its publication.”(Book sales aren’t routinely tracked in other countries.) As we previously reported , Becoming is an immensely personal book where Obama opened up for the first time publicly about a range of issues including experiencing a miscarriage, conceiving both of her children with IVF and having to seek couples therapy with former President Barack Obama . In addition, the 55-year-old described falling in love with Mr Obama one summer night in Chicago. “As soon as I allowed myself to feel anything for Barack,” she writes, “the feelings came rushing – a toppling blast of lust, gratitude, fulfillment, wonder.” Since Becoming dropped last November, it’s been an instant sensation, selling out stadiums across the country for her 2018 book tour. Mine happened at the predominately white elementary school I attended in the late 80s. All of us students were working on an art project with colored pencils we had to swap out for news ones at our teacher’s desk. I was really feeling myself that day because I had gotten my hair pressed over the weekend. It was laid, luxurious and smelling like fresh Pink Oil Lotion. I remember sitting at my desk, tapping those smooth pencils on the side my head as I pondered how to create my masterpiece. When I was done, I returned my pencils, feeling confident that my design was amazing. But a few minutes later that all changed when I heard someone loudly ask, “Why are these pencils so greasy?” My nemesis, who I will call Melissa, quickly told the class, “That’s because Kellee put them in her hair.” The room erupted in laughter. I was devastated. Having that straight hair made me feel like I had finally fit in with the Colleens and Beckies of the fourth grade. And yet in that instant, their cruelty had my facade crashing all the way down. It’s funny, because it’s been over a decade since the last time I’d even thought about that horrible day. But when I first heard Kelly Rowland’s recent song “Crown,” I was instantly brought back to that time. See, this collaboration with Dove is an empowering anthem aimed at young girls, reminding them that their hair is wonderful, glorious and amazing as is. And the video includes young girls from around the country who have been punished and even suspended for how they chose to rock their tresses. Seeing “Crown’s” images and hearing its lyrics made me wish I had something like this when I was younger, a singer to tell that ashamed little Black girl that her hair was “beautiful in every color. Long, short, straight or curly.” Now if I, a grown woman at 40-years-old, can be inspired by this, I can only imagine the impact it’s having on girls and young women who are coming into their own living in a world of the pressures of Instagram and Snapchat. This is why what Kelly is doing is so important. She is using her God-given gift to do her part to help shape the way girls see themselves and the world around them. And for little Black girls (and women), these messages are especially needed, given the complicated relationship we have with our hair and how often our bodies and hair are overpoliced at school, the workplace and beyond . In addition to the song, Kelly’s taking the message to the streets with community events aimed at bolstering girls’s self-esteem. Last month in downtown Los Angeles, Kelly co-hosted a Dove Self-Esteem Workshop with more than 30 girls from the Boys and Girls Club in attendance. The special workshop, which took place on Feb. 19, offered numerous confidence tips, an interactive conversation and ended with a runway show with the girls showing off the paper crowns they decorated. HelloBeautiful recently caught up with Kelly to discuss her personal story behind “Crown,” why representation matters and tips on overcoming our own hair issues.
