Gone Too Soon: UPenn Track Star Jumps To Her Death From Downtown Parking Deck

This is so incredibly sad . A promising young athlete took her life over the weekend, leaving her friends and family with unanswered questions about what had her so troubled. Via NY Post reports : A beautiful 19-year-old University of Pennsylvania track star from New Jersey killed herself Friday by jumping to her death from a parking garage in Philadelphia, The Record reported . Madison Holleran posted a photograph of the sunset over Rittenhouse Square to her Instagram account about an hour before she jumped from a parking garage in Downtown Philadelphia at 7 p.m. The stunning Holleran competed for the UPenn cross-country and track teams and as an Allendale high schooler she won the 800-meter New Jersey state championship. The freshman’s friends and fans posted their condolences and grief to the heartbreaking photo she posted before her death. “Rest in peace Madison, whether you knew it or not you were and are an irreplaceable part of the Highlands family,” wrote Erin Lee. “I keep trying to imagine the pain you must’ve been going through and how lost you must’ve felt. My heart breaks along with the rest of the community after the loss of someone so genuine and kind,” wrote another friend. Two UPenn events – sorority recruitment and a track and field meet – were both postponed after Holleran’s death, the Daily Pennsylvanian reported. Stop The Violence: Student Opens Fire At North Philly High School

These multiple school shootings can NOT be a part of 2014… Student Opens Fire At Philadelphia High School Two students were left injured after a gunman, who was reportedly a fellow student, opened fired at a Philadelphia high school on Friday afternoon. via ABC News Two students were shot at a high school in northern Philadelphia today, police said. The suspected shooter, a fellow student, has been taken into custody, police said, while authorities search for at least one additional suspect. A boy and a girl, both 15, were shot by at least one fellow student shortly after 3 p.m. in the gymnasium at Delaware Valley Charter School, police said. The unidentified male victim was shot in the arm, while the female victim was grazed in the arm, authorities said, noting that both are in stable condition and expected to recover after being rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, a block away from the school. A friend of the girl who was shot told ABC News Philadelphia station WPVI that she spoke to her moments after the shooting. “We were just in the bathroom and our friend, she just came in the bathroom saying her arm, her arm,” the friend said. “There was just a lot of blood gushing out. She was saying she heard a loud boom in the gym room and she looked up, her and her boyfriend’s arm had been hit.” Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey confirmed there were seven students inside the gymnasium at the time of the incident, which was caught on the school’s surveillance video. Miley Cyrus is taking heat once again for an outfit she wore on stage. Only this time, oddly enough, it’s for wearing too much clothing. The 21-year old took to the stage in Miami Friday night at the BB&T center, strutting her stuff and belting out a few hits in what appeared to be a real fur coat. And not long after photos from the performance went viral, the Twitterverse went nuts. “Miley Cyrus wears real fur! She may as well just go back to being half naked,” wrote one user, while another got extra personal: “Only thing more repulsive than @MileyCyrus is Miley Cyrus in fur. Her poor dogs, bet she’ll skin them next to make a pair of booty shorts.” Miley, of course, is famous for how much she loves her dogs . She’s also best known for scarcely wearing any clothes at all, making this scandal especially ironic. Consider this nipple slip from her latest music video tease, for example. Jenelle Evans Posts Baby Bump Pics, Was Probably Drinking While Pregnant

Jenelle Evans has posted a pair of pictures of her baby bump that suggest, indirectly, that she was probably drinking while pregnant a few months ago. In addition to a snapshot of herself working out with her unborn child at the gym, she also posted a photo of herself, naked in the tub, on Instagram. “Me and the baby just relaxing,” Evans captioned the pic, in which her tattoo reading ”Cela Passera Aussi” (or “This Too Shall Pass”) is clearly visible. Naturally, her nude baby bump can be seen protruding from the bubbles in the bath. Just magical. There’s just one thing about the bump, though … When she confirmed she was pregnant with her second child this month, she received a lot of backlash from fans regarding whether or not she’s sober. Naturally, this being Jenelle Evans , speculation ran rampant that she had been drinking and doing drugs during her pregnancy. Not out of the question. In fact, the Teen Mom 2 star drank publicly during a trip to Philadelphia in late October, but according to Jenelle she wasn’t pregnant at that point. Which would mean she is less than two months pregnant, of course, which likely isn’t the case, as she is rocking a fully-formed baby bump by now. If she’s less than two months pregnant? She’s not looking like that. So in all likelihood, Jenelle was in fact drinking and smoking weed while pregnant . Good times. Only not at all. Not entirely surprising times, for sure. To be fair, the pic from the gym, taken last week, shows the bump on the MTV personality looking a lot smaller. Maybe she just “popped” over the weekend. That would still put her at 3-4 months along now, however. She could’ve been pregnant and not known it, in her defense … but it makes you think. Of course she was promptly slammed by her followers, but Nathan Griffith’s future baby mama insists she has turned over a new leaf these days. Do you believe her? Meek might rap like someone poured hot grits on his feet but he has a heart of gold! Meek Mill Kicks Off First Annual “A Dreamchaser’s Thanksgiving” Meek Mill always carries his hometown on his back. The Philadelphia native is using his influence as an artist to give back to those less fortunate during the holidays. Via Karen Civil reports: “Philly raised me and made me into the man I am today, so to do the first annual ‘A Dreamchaser’s Thanksgiving,’ was an obvious thing to do. I’m blessed to be in a position where I can make sure that as many people as possible have a meal on Thanksgiving, so that they can be with their loved ones to enjoy the holiday.” Meek said. The MMG artist aims to feed nearly 600 families within the Philadelphia community taking place Tuesday (November 26) and Wednesday (November 27). The turkey give-a-way will benefit local Philly organizations including Youth Working Together, Town Watch and Unity in the Community. Meek, Mayor Nutter and other special guests will be in attendance during the two-day events. “I applaud Meek Mill for taking the initiative to give back to his home town,” Mayor Nutter said. “Gathering together with family and friends around a shared meal is one of the most important aspects of the holiday season. The rumors are true! After less than a year of dating, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody are engaged to be married, multiple sources have now confirmed! Appropriately, the Gossip Girl actress, 27, and The O.C. actor, 33, are best known for those two breakout television shows created by Josh Schwartz. It’s a match made in teen dramedy heaven! Leighton Meester, Adam Brody Engaged! The resolutely private couple, who were “always close and friendly,” have rarely commented on their relationship since it turned romantic in February. With the exception of a handful of affectionate, low-key appearances together in and around Hollywood, they’ve kept things to themselves. A good move. Clearly, it’s working out for them! Adam previously dated Lorene Scafaria and his former OC co-star Rachel Bilson for three years. Leighton had a two-year romance with Sebastian Stan. “Right now their plan is to get married next summer ,” an insider says. As for Leighton Meester and Adam Brody’s wedding venue, “they’re still deciding [between] a destination wedding or [marrying] in Southern California.” Come on. There’s nothing like Newport, right Seth? Er, Adam? Congratulations to the happy couple!

Knockout Game: Teens Try to Drop Strangers With One Punch, Apocalypse Nigh

A rash of new “knockout game” incidents, in which teens assault strangers with the goal of knocking them out in one punch, have surfaced in recent weeks. Community leaders are calling for an end to the violence after teenagers in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia have been caught on camera. Their violent actions have led to hospitalizations, and even deaths. Knockout Game Approaching strangers and knocking them to the ground with one punch to the face or head, the brutal violence is all in the name of a game called “Knockout.” The “game” has also spread to Massachusetts, Illinois and Missouri. A woman was approached eight males on bikes last week when one reached out, punched her in the head and rode away, NBC’s News4 reported. A 78-year-old woman fell victim to the pavement 10 days ago in Brooklyn, making her ninth purported “Knockout” victim in New York this year. Authorities are investigating the senseless attacks as hate crimes, as some of the attacks appear to have targeted members of the Jewish community. The alarming trend gained national attention back in May after a 51-year-old man actually died in Syracuse, N.Y., thanks to a group of teenagers. In the same month, a 20-year-old man was sentenced to 55 years in prison after he similarly struck and killed a man in St. Louis back in 2011. NBC10 in Philadelphia also reports that the online trend #SmackCam uses the Vine app to capture people being unexpectedly slapped in the face. What started out as a (mostly) playful game spawned by boredom turned awry as more violent depictions of the game began popping up on social media. Compilation videos on YouTube, such as this one below, are very popular: SmackCam Compilation Clearly, a pie to the face and skull-crushing blow to the back of the head from a stranger are different things. But is #SmackCam a gateway of sorts? Regardless, what does it say about society if “knockout” is even a game?

Dr. J Admits To Swinging On His Wife, But Says Sleeping With 8 Women In 8 Days Left Him Feeling Like A Failure

It was bad enough he told the whole world his “outside kid” daughter should have been a throat baby — but now more excerpts from Dr. J’s autobiography have hit the web and they reveal an abusive first marriage and lots of scandalous bedroom behavior. Check them out via NY Daily News reports : On his ho tendencies: With the Squires, Erving learned about the sexual perks of being a pro baller. At 21, he was more than ready to “experiment,” challenging himself to sleep with eight different women on eight different nights. But it got to his conscience. “There is something wrong about how I treat women,” he writes. “When I went on that run of eight women in eight days, it left me feeling like I had failed at something, was in some ways a disappointment to my mother.” On his volatile marriage: “I’ve hit her (Turquoise), but only in self-defense,” Erving confesses, writing throughout in the present tense. “. . . I don’t ever touch her unless I’m being attacked.” He married Turquoise in the flush of early stardom just after a messy contract dispute had been resolved, bringing him to the Nets in 1973. The boy who had been raised in the Parkside Gardens projects in Hempstead, L.I., until he was 13 was now in his full 6-foot-7 glory. He was “young, fine and rich” and had found his woman. “We are the Bonnie and Clyde of black and sexy, the JFK and Jackie of African-American and cool. “Dr. J and Turq.” Erving writes that while he was faithful at the outset of his marriage, by 1978, when he met sportswriter Samantha Stevenson in the Philadelphia 76ers’ locker room, he had long been straying. He and Turq were still celebrating the birth of their son, Cory, in 1981, when a letter arrived informing him that Stevenson had a baby girl, named Alexandra, and Erving was the father. A paternity test proved her out. Turq didn’t take it well. “‘You f—ing pig,’ and she is pounding me, hurling punches that I’m trying to parry with my arms crossed over my chest, I’m backing up, until finally I’m against the cabinet. . . . “Turquoise and I have some violent fights. A man can’t win these fights. If I hit back, then that only enrages Turq more and she’s going to start swinging harder.” Turq’s terms were that Erving would support the child according to a lawyer’s agreement. Alexandra was not to be told who her father was, and Erving was never to contact mother or child. Samantha received $4,000 a month until Alexandra turned 18, with a promise of private school tuition. In the book Dr. J also reveals he gave away between $6-10 million to friends. He’s now in need of cash which explains why he’s letting all the skeletons out the closet. Sounds like a mess, right?
