DMX Sentenced To One Year In Jail

Rapper pleaded guilty in Phoenix to probation violation. By Paul Cantor DMX Photo: Larry Busacca/ Getty Images DMX is heading back to jail for a year. On Thursday morning (December 16), the rapper (born Earl Simmons) pleaded guilty in a Phoenix courtroom to a felony probation violation. He was arrested on November 18 for not checking in with his probation officer, failing to submit to drug testing and refusing to undergo treatment. “I did make the effort that I could, and I appreciate any help you can give me,” Simmons told Judge Christine Mulleneaux, according to the Phoenix New Times. Judge Mulleneaux was not wholly sympathetic to X’s pleas for leniency, saying he tested positive for cocaine five times during his probation. She said he likely had an undiagnosed mental condition that he needs to take care of, and until he does so, he’d continue on his path of substance abuse. “Your criminal history goes back to 1988,” she said. “It’s going to continue if you don’t take care of your mental health.” According to The Associated Press, DMX told Phoenix station KSAZ-TV that he had been kicked out of a drug treatment program because he had a drink at a Scottsdale club during a performance. X had been on probation since July, having served four months of a six-month sentence handed down in March for failing a court-mandated drug test and testing positive for cocaine. Following his release in July, he began serving a 90-day sentence for a reckless driving charge in Los Angeles dating all the way back to 2002. In May of 2009, he was released from 90 days in a Phoenix jail on charges of drug possession, fraud and animal cruelty from 2008. Related Artists DMX

Flo Rida Talks Sampling Tupac On Only One Flo

‘I’m a big fan of his,’ Flo says of flipping ‘Pac’s ‘Hail Mary’ for his ladies’ jam ‘Come With Me.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Flo Rida Photo: MTV News On the surface Flo Rida and Tupac may not appear to have much in common, but the chart-topping rappers both had an affinity for Las Vegas. The late ‘Pac spent considerable time there as part of Suge Knight’s entourage and Flo relocated to Sin City before making it as an artist. Now, the pair are bound by music as Flo sampled Shakur’s hit “Hail Mary” for his track “Come With Me.” “That’s a record that’s on the romantic side, for the ladies,” Flo Rida told MTV News of the track, which appears on his most recent release, Only One Flo, Part 1. “It’s crazy to look at the credits and everything and have Tupac as one of the writers [on the album]. I’m a big fan of his and I was trying to take it up to the next level with this album.” Shakur’s “Hail Mary” was a taunting, slow-burning effort from his first posthumous offering, The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, which was released under the alias Makaveli. For “Come With Me,” Flo flips the haunting chorus into an upbeat chant about pursuing a young lady. “She wanna come with me,” the hook begins. “Lil mama wanna run quick, see/ What do we have here now/ Now do you wanna ride or die tonight, la da da da, la da da da.” “I never got to meet him or see him perform,” Flo said of the homage. “I just been a big fan of him doing his thing and me purchasing his albums or going online and watching the crazy shows.” What do you think of Flo sampling Tupac? Did Policemen Order Hit On Fellow Cop As Major Police Scandal Unfolds in Phoenix, AZ ?

http://oneminutelawyer.com/?p=20606 Phoenix, AZ—Is Phoenix police Sergeant Sean T. Drenth’s October 18. 2010 murder connected to this shocking scandal? Sgt. Drenth was murdered in an alley adjacent to a desolate State Capitol parking lot in an ongoing mystery. He was shot-gunned to death. Sgt Drenth was a suspect in this major Fraudulent Schemes and Theft case when he was killed. The Arizona Attorney General’s office today unsealed and announced the indictments of three current and one former Phoenix police officers. As many as 25 additional officers may get caught up in this career ending disaster that may bring lengthy prison terms. For those that don’t know Arizona sentences for crimes are usually triple and quadruple what the same offenses would bring in Illinois or California. This is a very sad day in the law enforcement community. From the Press Release issued today: (Phoenix, Ariz. – Nov. 18, 2010) Attorney General Terry Goddard today announced the indictment of three Phoenix Police Officers and a former member of the Phoenix Police Department on felony charges related to money they received for off-duty security work they allegedly did not perform. Former Phoenix Officer George Emil Contreras, 45, was indicted on four felony counts that include fraud, illegal control of an enterprise and theft, for actions he took during his employment with the department performing off-duty security services for multiple clients. Also indicted on theft charges related to off-duty work they were hired to perform were three current members of the Phoenix Police Department: Sgt. Benjamin Hugh Sywarungsymun, 35, Officer Steven Paul Peck, 40, and Officer Aaron J. Lentz, 30. Contreras was a Phoenix Police Officer for 18 years before he resigned in 2008. While employed by the department, he also served as an off-duty work coordinator, out of the South Mountain Precinct, for off-duty jobs for the alleged business victims: the Cotton Center Townhomes at 48th Street and Broadway, Laron Incorporated, Arizona Materials, and Eisenberg Properties, all in Phoenix. The indictment alleges that from December 2005 through December 2007, Contreras committed fraud and theft on the businesses by submitting false documents to them in the form of invoices in advance of the work to be performed and accepting pay for the full hours of work indicated in the invoices, even though he did not work the full hours for which he was paid. Contreras is alleged to also have formed and used a business called Raptor Services to invoice and collect payment from the victim businesses. Sgt. Sywarungsymun, Officer Peck, and Officer Lentz are also alleged to have committed theft by accepting pay for hours of off-duty security which they did not perform, as coordinated by Contreras. The alleged business victim that suffered the largest loss was the Cotton Center Townhomes, which involved a security job contracted with the Phoenix Police Department by three homeowners associations to help reduce crime in an area with a high volume of calls for police service, requiring two officers and a marked patrol car. Contreras, as the coordinator, assigned a large majority of shifts to himself, as well as the other officers listed in the indictment. Contreras is alleged to have committed thefts in excess of $9,000, Lentz in excess of $2,000, Sywarungsymun in excess of $1,800, and Peck in excess of $1,700, all felony level thefts. Total losses alleged in the indictment are in excess of $16,000. added by: keithponder

J. Cole Says Drake Initiated ‘In The Morning’ With Text

MC talks to Mixtape Daily about Friday Night Lights collaboration: ‘It’s the perfect song for us to get on first.’ By Jayson Rodriguez J. Cole Photo: MTV News Celebrity Favorites: J. Cole The old adage is that great minds think alike, and regarding the J. Cole and Drake collabo “In the Morning,” the saying couldn’t be more true. The two young MCs finally linked up on the track from Cole’s recently released mixtape, Friday Night Lights . It happened as a result of a budding friendship between the two, despite blog fodder that the rhyme slingers don’t get along. “I got a text from Drake,” Cole told Mixtape Daily . “Now, I kind of just let people say what they say on the Internet or when they have discussions, but the real truth is me and Drake are cool, and have been cool and have been building a relationship. But he hit me when I was in Paris [on a tour], like, ‘Yo, I just heard this “In the Morning.” ‘ He had just heard it for the first time. He said it was so good that he told me some wild story, you know those exaggerated stories, like ‘I need better beats,’ just one of those type of things, giving me props.” Cole originally recorded “In the Morning” in 2007 in his bedroom, featuring three of his own verses. The track almost made one of the North Carolina rapper’s previous mixtape efforts, but he held onto it before it eventually leaked to the Web. When Drake sent him a message, however, he told the Toronto lyricist he had actually been thinking about reworking “In the Morning.” Cole said Drake responded: “Save me 16.” When Cole hit Stateside, he reached out to the song’s producers, L&X Music, and requested the file. He said he tweaked it with a breakdown and some other additions to “take it to the next level.” Drake sent Cole his verse earlier this month, Cole released the record Thursday, and was aflutter over the Roc Nation signee and the Young Money solider finally doing a song together. “The rumors of tension [between us] were so high, I thought it was cool to break the ice with that type of record,” Cole said of the slow burner. “And like [Drake] said, it’s the perfect song for us to get on first,” he added. “Because everyone is expecting ‘Brooklyn’s Finest,’ and I don’t know if it’s like that. [Drake] said it himself : We got a long time to do those records.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . Related Videos Mixtape Daily: J.
