My name is Claudia and I have ALWAYS wanted to write my OWN Bieber experience and I can’t believe I am saying this but, I did have MY BIEBER EXPERIENCE. It all began the day before the concert. Justin’s back up dancers Marvin and Nick were teaching a hip hop workshop that I went to. I had completely forgotten that the meet and greet e-mails would be sent, so in the middle of our break, luckily someone reminded me. As my e-mails were loading on my phone, I was talking to my friend saying “I don’t even know why im checking. I never win anything”. I then looked down and I saw “CONGRATULATIONS BIEBER FAN”. I didn’t know what to do, so I stormed out of the class with my phone and started to cry. I couldn’t believe this was happening to ME. After a night of no sleep, it was finally the day of the May 2nd Melbourne concert, the day I would meet my hero and inspiration. When we arrived to the arena a lady gave us special wristbands and we lined up back stage. Myself, my cousin and 2 other girls were the first group in line. A guy came out and said we could go in now. THIS WAS IT! The day that I have been waiting for three years had finally come. We walked into the room and at first I saw Nick. He was like “Hey I remember you from yesterday. Have fun”. Then next to Nick was ALFREDO! Alfredo tried to prank me but I just ended up being confused , it was sooo funny. Anyway the 2 girls who were with us had already walked over to Justin past the curtain so we quickly said goodbye to Alfredo and Nick and walked towards the curtain. My heart was beating so fast and I kept my promise that I wouldn’t scream or cry. I turned the corner and there I saw JUSTIN BIEBER! I swear he is the most amazing thing God has ever created. He looked and smiled at us and said ” Hey Ladies”. His voice gave me chills. We then joined onto the ends ready for the photo. After the photo was done I said thank you so many times. I expected Justin to be all out there but really he was completely different. When I walked past that curtain, I saw a boy just from Canada, it was as if he wasn’t famous at all. In actual fact he looked slightly shy and nervous, it was so cute. People expect Justin to be un-normal but really thats falsely evaluated, he is in fact normal like you and me. I witnessed it with my own eyes. Before we left, my cousin asked Justin if he could sing Happy Birthday to me but sadly he couldn’t because there was so many girls he had to greet. This is what he said “I would but I have so many girls to see so I can say it”. He then looked into my eyes and said HAPPY BIRTHDAY to me! It was amazing. I then asked Justin for a hug and he said of course. Every time I think about that hug, it makes me cry. I wrapped my arms around his neck and then he put his arms around my waist. He smelt so nice so i just leaned my head on his shoulder. After a bit he pulled away because if it was up to me we would be standing there all day . I AM NEVER WASHING THAT SHIRT AGAIN. I said thank you one last time and then left. BUT, I saw KENNY and I hugged him. He is so cute. I remember I kept on saying OMG OMG OMG and then I said to myself. Why am I saying ‘Oh My God”. I shouldn’t be cursing because God is the reason why a door opened for me to meet Justin. The concert was absolutely amazing. Justin is such a talented person and i wish him all the luck in the world for the future. Justin is truly an inspiration to all, through everything he has done he has shown that dreams do come true. I lived out that motto that day because my dream did come true. I Never said Never and because of that, I met my hero. Monday May 2nd of 2011 was by far the best day of my life and I will NEVER (yes I just used never there) EVER forget it. Justin if you’re reading this, I promise to be there till the very end and support you 100% in every decision you make. Please never change , I wanted to tell you this so much when I met you but I just couldn’t get anything out. So please stay you. I love you. -@itsclaudiaahere Read more: My name is Claudia and I have ALWAYS wanted to write my OWN…
Nick Cannon, being his playful and goofy self, was joking around on his WXRK 92.3 NOW New York based radio show last week when he “accidentally” ended up blurting out his home phone number ON AIR to listeners. After the incident it seemed like Nick immediately realized that it was a bad idea and tweeted: ”My wife is going to kill me over this. Sometimes I get a little too carried away on the radio … ” And then, “Just gave out my home phone # on air and my pregnant wife picked up the line OOPS!” C’mon Nick, what were you thinking?! Of course, Nick and Mariah’s humble abode was flooded with phone calls by fans who listened to Nick give out the phone number on his radio show. One fan even got the chance to speak with Mariah when she picked up the phone. Nick then took to Twitter to acknowledge Mariah for being such a good sport about the whole ordeal, tweeting: “Thanks to my amazing wife for being a good sport and allowing me to make good radio. @MariahCarey you are the best!” How cute! Nick and Mariah, who have been married since 2008, are in their last trimester of pregnancy and are expecting twins (a boy and girl) any day now. Nick is known for being public about his relationship and feelings for his wife, especially on his radio show, and as we told you before, recently expressed to listeners that he regretted taking nude photos with his wife for the OK! magazine spread. Last week Bossip was invited to a special lunch with Kylie Bunbury and De’Vaughn Nixon — stars of the new Disney movie Prom . In the film Kylie and De’Vaughn play the school’s most popular couple, Jordan and Tyler. De’Vaughn (who is the son of retired NBA baller Norm Nixon and stepson of Debbie Allen) has made an appearance on Bossip before but we’re glad to see his career continue to flourish and we figured this was the perfect opportunity to introduce our readers to these young stars – especially since Hollyweird isn’t always easy on actors of color. Check out some of the media lunch chitchatter and more pictures of De’Vaughn and Kylie below: Q: Being new to the game (De’Vaughn did The Bodyguard as a child) what has this film meant to you two? DN: This is sort of a rebirth to my career. So I know that they’re going to launch us.. you know? Shine us in the right light. KB: Definitely a whirlwind given the fact that that this is my first film and to be associated with a driving force like this movie is like insane. And also the people that we worked with are so amazing which…. well so basically, like I’m waiting for something bad to happen. DN: Everything’s been a fairy tale! KB: Yeah it’s truly amazing. We are very blessed. Q: De’Vaughn you come from a family of women who are talented. Your stepmother Debbie Allen and your aunt Phylicia Rashad. When you started out to be an actor did you go to them and say I wanna be an actor? And what kinds of encouragement words did they give you? DN: You know they actually just told me to follow whatever I wanted to do. Just follow my dreams. Just be passionate. One of the biggest things that I took from both of them is their drive. Debbie’s just a jack of all trades. I mean, you know the saying ”You throw something on the wall and whatever sticks?” She threw everything on the wall and everything stuck. She’s a choreographer, director, actress…To see how passionate she is about what she does is unbelievable because you know she could very well retire. But it’s what fuels her; it’s what drives her. Phylicia, she’s one of the sweetest people that you’ll ever meet. She is Mrs. Huxtable in real life. It seems like its fake because she’s so nice. It’s so strange for me to see that. How sweet of a woman she is. Her roots are in theatre. She’s just a powerful actress. Her advice is just do this. Just study the greats. Sidney Poitier. Watch old Denzel Washington films and just know your history and where you’ve come from as a black actor because it’s constantly a struggle for us. There’s not a lot of roles out there for male black actors. You just have to stay positive, and just be educated is one of the most important things they could’ve taught me. Q: Debbie Allen has also had a history of interjecting school into her projects from “Fame” to “A Different World” and now you’re doing prom. What types of conversations did you guys have with regards to you having the school with the film? DN: Well I initially told her I was doing the film and she was very excited for me. Being an African American actor in a Disney film and… “You guys have all seen the movie right?” OK. And being glorified like we were which was prom King and Queen!…. They could have easily flipped it and made it another couple but she was like “Just go out there and be strong. You want me to pull some “Different World“ footage so you can see Dwayne Wayne? You know so she was just like take it as it comes and she just told me to be humble. She was just like go out there and be yourself. Just be humble. We never really compared “A Different World” and Prom . She’s just very supportive of me. KB: That was one of the things I loved most about the script was that, for teenagers high school is a very vulnerable time and I love the fact that my character was confident and showed independence and didn’t conform to the norm of sort of just, ya know, doing the stereotypical thing. That spoke to me. Q: I wanted to know did you have any control of what you were going to wear to the prom in the movie? KD: I’m older than 17, so my style is a little older so we had to sort of take that back. I definitely had some say though. There were some things that were pretty young. Other than that I did let Disney sort of… They knew what they wanted. I tried on some other dresses that I preferred, but I’m a little curvier so they didn’t want anything tight. DN: They didn’t want to show that booty! Q: De’Vaughn you are so funny. You really are hilarious and I can see you in a different comedy role. Is there somewhere down the line your possible thinking of getting into some other roles? DN: Definitely. I’m a bit older so I’m using this as a launching pad for my career. I wanna do every thing. I definitely don’t want to be hold into certain type of genre in film. I wanna be how Will Smith does, like how Tyler Perry does, like how Brad Pitt does. So any role that I do.. I just wanna be familiar and I think that’s one of the most important things to being an actor. So yeah, I would love to do some comedy! Write a movie for me. Q: Do either of you guys sing? KB: I sing. DN: She hasn’t sung in any of the interviews we’ve had. See we did “The Monique Show” and she made me dance. You know so I dropped it like it was hot… KB: Right now I’m just trying to focus on acting for sure. As far as singing, I don’t want to do anything too poppy. I would rather just do a guitar and be singing something low key. Q: De’Vaughn, we know Debbie Allen is your stepmom. What king of influence did your father (retired Lakers player Norm Nixon) have? What did he tell you by way of advice that you could take and put into your acting career? DN: It’s funny I actually talked to my dad the other day and I was actually telling him about all of the wonderful things and all the opportunities that have been brought my way because of the film. He always stresses to stay humble. Now my dad wasn’t in the spotlight. He usually took the backseat, but he was always a bulldog on the court. Yeah he told me to stay humble. He always tells me this and I have it tattooed across my arm. It says ‘God bless the child who has his own.’ And never ask for hand outs. Always work hard. Always be about your business. That’s one of the biggest things that I definitely took away from my dad. Q: A really big deal was made this year about the Oscars being kind of a “white out” and I also noticed with a lot of the trailers, we never saw either of you in them. Do you feel the pressure of racism in Hollywood and do you even let it get to you or do you think about it at all? KB: I mean it’s obviously there. It’s prevalent, but I don’t really think about it. That was another good thing that when the scripts were handed out for our characters, they were never really looking for “Black People” for it. And that Joe our director discussed with as well. This wasn’t a planned thing. He said “You guys just fit the characters” and that’s our mentality and that’s how it should stay. Once we make it an issue, that’s when it is an issue. And I mean yeah you think about that kind of stuff but that’s only because….. DN: And also since you guys have seen the film, I’m actually glad that they hadn’t revealed too much of our story line because… when you see this, you’ll be surprised at how much weight we have in this film. I definitely was aware of that but I didn’t let it bother me because I never wanna just be the angry black man. So I’m just gonna ride this. I’m gonna tear it up regardless so this isn’t the last you’ve seen of me from Prom so…..I’m ready to beast this industry ya understand? Q: So you guys are obviously a little bit older than the characters you guys play, so do you guys have any prom stories from your prom days? KB: I went to two proms my junior and senior year, and junior year my dress was…it was a conglomeration of colors that should have never been. But my prom was great, I just looked stupid… DN: I don’t have a crazy prom story but I have a….There was a house party a couple weeks before prom and um I was with all my buddies from high school and my brother was there. And this was when Ginuwine had “So Anxious” out and … so basically the DJ throws on a song and I’m pop locking getting my groove on and I actually pop my knee out of its socket while I’m dancing. True Story. So I fall on the floor and I’m like “Oh, I’ve never felt anything like this before.” And I rolled up my pant leg and my kneecap is actually on the other side my leg, and uh…But the funniest thing is I was at the hospital and my dad comes and he’s like “So man, you popped your knee out dancing huh? You were dancing huh? I can’t even tell my buddies you got hurt playing sports!“ I thought it was hilarious. Q: Did you ever think because your father being the icon that he is, did you ever think about playing sports? DN: I did actually. I was nice in high school. I played basketball in high school. I played pretty much every sport except football because I didn’t like the fact I could get hit. I actually really wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps. And then I just kinda realized the passion wasn’t there and I just wanna show how silly I could be ya know. SO I took to film and acting. Q: Did you guys love working together? KB & DN: We did. We had a lot of fun. DN: I thought I was gonna have a white girl playing my girlfriend. I was like there’s no way two black people are in this movie! So I called her when I found out she got it and she didn’t pick up any of my phone calls. KB: I don’t recall this. DN: Yeah of course. Selective memory. And then finally she did and we ate at Cheesecake Factory and we talked and we got along. We became friends. It’s not an act. Q: So both of yall single? DN: I’ve been dating someone for quite some time. She’s Italian actually. KB: Right now I’m just focusing on acting. And I’m pretty private and even if I did I wouldn’t probably say. Sorry. Q: You guys were saying you’re older than the characters you play. Do you mind saying how old you are? KB: We’re old enough to drink. KB & DN: We’re both over 21. Q: If you guys could play any role, if you didn’t have to worry about anything what would it be? What’s your dream role? KB: Oh my goodness. I mean everyone wants to play a drug addict right? I also wanted to do a period piece of something older, but I know that ethnically I’d probably have to play a slave. DN: There is no particular role that I can put my finger on but I would love to star in a movie alongside Will Smith, or Denzel Washington or Brad Pitt. Q: What advice would you give to pre-theatre arts majors in acting to try and burst onto the scene? KB: I’m a newbie myself so I have no advice. DN: Plan B. You can’t have a plan B. Because if you do, you’ve already failed, because you’re thinking about failure. Just have your mind set on it and just do it. I was very privileged to meet Tom Hanks back in the day. My stepmother is good friends with Stephen Spielberg… so we went over there. It was Tom Hanks and Martin Short just sitting at a table and I was like “Man what can I do to be like you? What advice do you have for me?” It was as simple as this. He said “Never give up.” That’s all he said to me. I was like “That’s it?” KB: “Sometimes the most cliché statements are the most correct.” Q: What upcoming projects do you have in the works? Where can we see you next? KB: I just finished up a comedy playing Jonah Hill’s love interest. DN: I’m on the “The Hard Times of RJ Berger.”
‘Water for Elephants’ actress reveals, ‘He did have a very runny nose.’ By Aly Semigran, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Reese Witherspoon Photo: MTV News On camera, the love scenes between Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson in their period drama “Water for Elephants” — which opens in theaters Friday (April 22) — look glamorous and romantic. Behind the scenes, however, it was anything but. Never mind that both stars were involved in relationships during the filming of the big-screen adaptation ( Witherspoon with her now-husband, Jim Toth , and Pattinson with speculated girlfriend Kristen Stewart ) but the 24-year-old actor also happened to be fighting a nasty cold. As the “Twilight” hunk revealed during his “MTV First: Robert Pattinson” special, “The love scene in [‘Water for Elephants’]: I was doing it when I had a really bad cold.” He went on to divulge, “My nose is running all over the place, and it was in one of the additional photography scenes, and Reese had this wig on, and literally, I was wiping my nose on her wig.” And when his Oscar-winning co-star sat down with us , she confirmed it was just as unsavory as he described. “He did have a very runny nose, yeah,” she recalled, adding, “It wasn’t appealing; it wasn’t pleasant.” Still, the 35-year-old actress knows that even a runny nose wouldn’t deter Pattinson’s most fervent fans. Her advice for anyone planning on getting close to RPattz on or off camera: “Bring a Sudafed!” However, when Witherspoon isn’t dispensing advice on how to get through a love scene with RPattz, she’s enjoying domestic bliss with her husband. In fact, the newlyweds have been finding themselves in the same situation as many couples: compromising what shows to watch on television. The actress said that while she’s had to watch the biker drama series against her will, she’s now turned into “a big fan.” But, there was no need to convince the star to watch “Eastbound and Down,” the soon-to-be-retired HBO comedy starring Danny McBride. ” ‘Eastbound and Down’ makes me laugh,” Witherspoon told MTV News. “You gotta love Kenny Powers.” Would you want to make out with Robert Pattinson even if he had a cold? ‘Those songs don’t come all the time,’ will.i.am remembers the Purple One telling him. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Sway Calloway will.i.am performs with the Black Eyed Peas at Terminal 5 in New York City Photo: MTV News In 2009, the Black Eyed Peas found incredible success with their feel-good party track “I Gotta Feeling.” It was a multicultural club banger that was all about being with your pals and embracing those moments of pure party joy. Now, it’s become a staple of their live show , and frontman will.i.am was surprised to learn about one of the song’s biggest fans. “I remember we played the song in Minnesota, and Prince was at the show, and he called me on the phone afterwards. He said, ‘Congratulations,’ ” will.i.am recalled. “He says, ‘You know, those songs don’t come all the time. You’re blessed to have one of those songs. You know, they’re gifts.’ I was like, ‘Wow.’ For someone like Prince to tell you that, that’s bigger than a Grammy for me.” Night after night, the song gets an incredible response from fans. “When we perform it, in my mind, like, ‘Where did that song come from?’ I can’t believe this is us and look at all these people singing it like it’s theirs,” he told MTV News when we caught up with the group at Terminal 5 in New York, where they were taping a show set to air Friday night (April 22) at midnight ET on MTV. “Wow, that’s a beautiful thing.” That song came just at the right time, since the band was looking for a way to update their concerts. “We used to do ‘Let’s Get It Started’ at the end, because that was our big finale, which didn’t really make sense. And for a while, [we did] ‘My Humps’ and then it got to the point where we didn’t want to play ‘My Humps’ no more. You know, ’cause ‘I met a girl down at the disco,’ I just didn’t want to say that no more, lyrically. “It wasn’t like my best lyrically, but it was fun,” he continued. “It wasn’t lyrical miracles, but the beat was rocking, so we throw the beat in there and just let the beat linger, but now ‘I Gotta Feeling’ is like ‘What?’ ” Don’t miss the Black Eyed Peas’ performance Friday at midnight ET on MTV.
‘I haven’t really had that moment of remorse or blues,’ he tells MTV News of still shooting final film. By Kara Warner Peter Facinelli Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images Earlier this week, MTV News learned of an exciting “Twilight” and “American Idol” mash-up between Peter Facinelli and “Idol” castoff Paul McDonald on the “Loosies” soundtrack. Naturally, we couldn’t let Facinelli hang up the phone until we addressed another important subject matter: “Breaking Dawn.” Unlike co-star Robert Pattinson , Facinelli has yet to wrap his work on the “Twilight” saga. “I still have another two weeks of second-unit stunt work, so for me, it doesn’t feel quite done yet,” he said. “I haven’t really had that moment of remorse or blues, you know, the blues of finishing. I’m in the midst of still finishing myself.” Regarding a few key scenes that his co-stars have mentioned — specifically the Taylor Lautner vs. Kristen Stewart fight scene — Facinelli agreed that seeing the much smaller Stewart take on Lautner was entertaining. “Oh yes, I was there for that,” he said. “[It was] very funny. … But you have to kick his butt a little bit,” Facinelli added about the idea of Lautner’s character Jacob imprinting on Bella and Edward’s daughter Renesmee . Although he couldn’t go into too much detail, we asked Facinelli to describe the heavily hyped wedding scene for us. “Beautiful and spectacular,” he said. “It’s funny, because whenever we have a big important scene on ‘Twilight’ [movies], it rains. I was doing the baseball sequence [from ‘Twilight’], and it was raining. But you never see it on film,” he said of the filmmaking crew’s movie magic. “With this wedding, it rained the whole time we shot the two scenes. But you’ll never see it on film, they block out the rain. They put tarps up and you’ll never see it. But for us, it was very wet and muddy and cold.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . ‘I was a little skeptical, because I only knew him from ‘Twilight,’ ‘ Francis Lawrence admits to MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Francis Lawrence Photo: MTV News Robert Pattinson has certainly been branching out from “Twilight.” His latest venture outside the world of vampires who sparkle in the sun is the vintage romantic drama “Water for Elephants.” He plays Jacob, a 20-something who quits veterinarian school after his parents die in a car accident. He accidentally joins a circus and, from there, discovers more about life and falling in love with the boss’ lady, played by Reese Witherspoon , than he could have imagined. ‘American Idol’ castoff tells MTV News he ‘can’t really get used to’ media interest in his relationship with Nikki Reed. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Rya Backer Paul McDonald Photo: MTV News Last week, Paul McDonald was sent packing from “American Idol.” This week, he’s opening up about his life on the show — saying he wasn’t “comfortable” doing covers — and, somewhat reluctantly, discussing his life off of it. Specifically, his relationship with “Twilight” star Nikki Reed, which has become the subject of endless media attention in recent weeks, and has only reached its peak now that McDonald’s off “Idol.” And while he’s not opposed to talking about Reed, McDonald told MTV News that he’ll probably never get used to doing so; the same goes for all of the attention the couple have been garnering, for that matter. “I mean, you can’t really get used to that, you know? It’s funny how, like, your personal life becomes such a crazy new thing,” he said. “I guess I kind of realized it when I talked to my grandma on the phone, she was like, ‘Who’s this new girl you’re dating?’ And I’m like, ‘How do you know about this, Grandma?’ And she’s like, ‘I got a magazine at the grocery store!’ I was like ‘Oh gosh, it’s started.’ I haven’t really gotten used to that … you can’t really get used to that stuff.” Still, he realizes that dealing with media attention is just part of his newfound fame; so, no, McDonald isn’t planning on shutting down any particularly salacious interviewers any time soon, but he’s also not going to pay attention to what they say if he does. “I don’t really get involved in the whole thing, you know? I don’t read too much stuff online. I get nervous because I don’t want to see what people are saying about me. So, I’m just doing my thing,” he smiled. “We’re good, we’re really good. She’s a sweet, nice lady, and she’s been supportive through all this stuff.” Don’t miss “Idol Party Live” every Thursday at noon on MTV.com for analysis, celebrity guests and even some karaoke — get in the conversation by tweeting with the hashtag #idolparty!
