SNL Rep Claims Kenan Thompson Is Not Leaving The Show Via HuffingtonPost A “Saturday Night Live” spokesperson has called a TMZ report that claims Kenan Thompson will leave “SNL” following the show’s 40th season “inaccurate.” According to the rep, “the season hasn’t even started and cast decisions aren’t made until the end of the season.” Earlier on Monday, TMZ wrote that Thompson was set to leave the show before next season, Season 41, to focus on other projects. (Per TMZ, Thompson was going to leave after Season 39, but Lorne Michaels, the show’s executive producer, convinced him to stay for Season 40.) Thompson has been a cast member on “SNL” since 2003, and broke the record for longest serving black cast member. Of the current cast, he’s been on the show the longest. When asked during an interview with EW last year if he would ever leave the show, Thompson joked, “I’m never leaving.” “Saturday Night Live” returns this weekend with host Chris Pratt and musical guest Ariana Grande. Daniele Watts took to Facebook late last week in outrage after she was detailed on suspicion of prostitution for showing affection to her boyfriend after police caught the two in an intimate embrace. Watts is African-American and her boyfriend, celebrity chef Brian James Lucas, is white. “Today I was handcuffed and detained by 2 police officers from the Studio City Police Department after refusing to agree that I had done something wrong by showing affection, fully clothed, in a public place,” the actress, who stars as Martin Lawrence’s daughter on FX’s Partners, wrote on Facebook Thursday. According to the official police statement, “patrol officers from North Hollywood Division responded to a radio call of indecent exposure” at the time and happened upon “two individuals that matched the description of the suspects.” Authorities say the suspects “were briefly detained” and “upon further investigation it was determined that no crime had been committed. Ms. Watts and her companion were subsequently released.” Lucas also sounded off on the incident in his own Facebook post Friday. He believes race played a key factor. “From the questions that he asked me as D was already on her phone with her dad, I could tell that whoever called on us (including the officers), saw a tatted RAWKer white boy and a hot bootie shorted black girl and thought we were a HO (prostitute) & a TRICK (client),” Lucas wrote. “So they handcuffed her and threw her roughly into the back of the cop car until they could figure out who she was. In the process of handcuffing her, they cut her wrist, which was truly NOT COOL!!! Of course, they had to let her go eventually cuz we weren’t a threat to anyone.” Watts, who also played a role in Django Unchained, did not give the officers her ID when asked because “they had no right” to ask, Lucas said. An internal complaint investigation has been initiated regarding this matter, according to The Los Angeles Police Department.

Nick had been very vocal about wanting to play Pryor, who died in 2005 following a heart attack, and even convinced the late stand-up comic’s son that he was right for the part. Nick was in talks to play Richard in the upcoming film, but Richard Jr. also voiced his concern over the America’s Got Talent host’s ability to do the role justice. However, the late comedian’s son had a change of heart after he spoke to Nick on the phone, as PageSix.com reported. ‘I am actually very excited about it now. He changed my mind by how he is delving into it,’ Richard Jr. said. ‘He did the small thing of using his left hand instead of his right hand, he picked up smoking to try and emulate my dad, he’s let his hair grow out. ‘He’s looking into who my dad really was, looking into his childhood, who he was raised by and around, and he is interested in talking to me about who my dad was.’ Wow…we never heard anything about Mike Epps preparing this hard for the role.
