When you consider all the drama that’s surrounded the Duggar family in recent years, it’s more than a little surprising that something as seemingly prosaic as Jinger Duggar’s wardrobe would be favorite topic of discussion for so many fans. But for many who have watched her grow from a young tomboy to a happily married woman, Jinger’s clothing conveys so much more than simply her taste in fashion. Many were surprised when a photo of Jinger wearing pants surfaced on social media, as like her sisters, Jinger was forced to abide by a strict dress code while she was living under her parents’ roof. In the Duggar household, women are forbidden to wear pants, and instead must sport floor-length skirts at all times, even when engaged in sports or other physical activities. “We do not dress modestly because we are ashamed of the body God has given us; quite the contrary,” the Duggar girls wrote in their 2014 memoir, Growing Up Duggar . “We realize that our body is a special gift from God and that He intends for it to be shared only with our future husband… We avoid low-cut, cleavage-showing, gaping, or bare-shouldered tops; and when needed, we wear an undershirt.” They added: “We try to make it a habit to always cover the top of our shirt with our hand when we bend over. We don’t want to play the peekaboo game with our neckline.” When pressed on the matter, the family would always explain that the girls consented to the dress code, having adopted their parents’ views on the importance of modest attire. Despite that explanation, Jinger defiantly bucked that trend when she married Jeremy Vuolo . Once Duggar women are married, it’s their husbands, not their fathers who make most of the decisions about their lifestyle. (Yes, people still live this way in 2017.) Jeremy doesn’t share Jim Bob’s conservative views on women’s fashion, and as a result, Jinger can wear pretty much whatever she wants. We’ve already seen Jinger wear shorts , heels, tight pants … and now, she’s moving on to exposed arms. Yes, she might be conservatively dressed by most people’s standards, but for a Duggar, this look is downright risque. For the most part, fans have been supportive of Jinger’s bold decision to wear a freakin’ t-shirt, but there are those who find the situation to ridiculous to applaud. “Now she started to wear pants and dresses that leave arms uncovered,” one follower wrote on Instagram. “At 23 years old. Because her husband’s told her she can do it. In 2017. Ok.” We share the sentiment, but it’s important to remember that Jinger didn’t create her family’s bizarre code of conduct–and tossing it aside constitutes a laudable act of bravery. You know how Farrah Abraham is shamelessly plugging vaginal rejuvenation on Instagram? In addition to questions over why the 26-year-old would possibly need the procedure (leading some to wonder if she might be having incontinence issues), the fact that Farrah was posting about it at all stirred up controversy. Well, now Farrah’s responded to the backlash, so … brace yourselves. Okay, so as we mentioned, Farrah posted a little video of herself consulting with a conspicuously made up doctor who talked to her about the procedure. The procedure involves moving a wand of sorts in and out of Farrah’s vagina for several minutes. This isn’t the first time that Farrah Abraham’s gotten her vagina rejuvenated , folks. “What this does is distributes little wounds through radio frequency which kind of breaks up the collagen and forces it to restore during that healing process, so everything becomes tighter and you actually experience …” And then Farrah Abraham, to our cringing horror, says “Like I’m 16 again!” (Let’s not hold up 16-year-old girls as some sort of sexual ideal, because that is incredibly gross, folks) Folks on the interwebs did not hold back their thoughts about Farrah, either, even criticizing her in the context of being a mother. Though the procedure described was not surgical, one follower thought that it set a bad example for Farrah’s 8-year-old. “My god … poor little Sophia. A mother who ‘loves’ her body so much she altered every bit of it. Great example. I hope Sophia will grow into a strong and independent woman who does not need her ‘mother’ to be around.” Again, this is not the same as a boob job or a nose job, though there are surgical forms of vaginal rejuvenation. “Farrah why? I understand you’re a mom and need the procedure for personal reasons but why make it public? Have respect as a mother for your child and for others.” As we mentioned, though vaginas almost always revert to their previous size after childbirth, the treatment that Farrah received could be used to attempt to treat postpartum incontinence. Another was perplexed why a woman Farrah’s age would need any sort of “rejuvenation.” “Aren’t you like 25? Why do you need this?” Farrah is 26, but that is “like 25” and the question remains reasonable. But Farrah spoke out against the controversy that she herself created with her posts. “My lady parts are happy.” How nice for them? “I don’t know. I just like to share things, especially if it’s good and health related and I don’t know. Today though it’s just about fashion, Sophia and I’m just proud of this little baby boss.” Before she deflects to her daughter (yeah, we saw that), Farrah explains what looks like a clear advertisement as part of her fondness for sharing things. One, it was probably an ad. Two, it seems like she loves negative attention. “I think it’s just best to ignore negativity and only welcome positivity in your life and I think that shows for Sophia and hopefully myself over the years and I’m just really happy about that.” That sounds like a positive message. If you’re thinking that Farrah sounds like a great mom, though, remember that she admitted to forgetting Sophia in a store . Which is difficult to imagine. “I would say I do that by complimenting her and making sure she feels secure — whether it’s with her eyebrows or whatever it may be.” Didn’t Farrah pluck and wax her daughter’s unibrow when Sophia was still preschool aged? If Sophia has insecurities about her eyebrows, we think that we can identify their source. Now, there’s a lot to criticize about Farrah that’s totally fair game. But, though nobody wants to hear about it, she can alter her flesh prison as much as she likes. If we want to have choice words about Farrah Abraham, we can talk about how obnoxious she can be. Or about how she sets feminism back by another year every time that she tries to mask her Lena Dunham-like quest for negative attention by wrapping it in the flag of female empowerment. Every time a new round of explicit photos stolen from a celebrity’s private collection goes public, there’s a renewed outcry to tighten security and ramp up enforcement of existing laws. Unfortunately, most of the time, the perpetrators go unpunished, and it’s typically not long before a new round of celebrity nudes goes public. The latest victim is Justin Bieber, and in a bizarre twist, the singer’s ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez was also victimized by the hackers. According to TMZ, several nude photos of Bieber appeared on Gomez’s Instagram page Monday afternoon. The site reports that the hackers captioned the photo with lewd comments about Bieber and boasts about their hacking abilities. “LOOK AT THIS N-GGA LIL SHRIMPY,” they wrote, before encouraging users to follow three Instagram accounts, each of which only has a handful of posts, but several thousand followers. “We run da scene,” they concluded. The hackers Instagram accounts have been suspended, and their handles are being kept from public view pending an investigation. Gomez quickly deactivated her account after the hack. She is now back on Instagram, and has not yet publicly commented on the incident. Bieber has also not yet commented on the situation, and it’s possible that both singers will simply refuse to acknowledge the hackers, as they seem to be seeking notoriety. This is not the first time that Bieber has been hacked , and sadly, it looks as though it may not be the last. There are those who have argued that like obnoxious paparazzi and over-zealous fans, a lack of digital privacy is just a reality of life as a celebrity in the 21st century. The problem with that argument, of course, is that sharing someone’s nude photos without their consent constitutes a sex crime, and a world where famous people are forced to accept being victimized by sexual predators, is surely one that none of us wants to live in. We don’t pretend to have the answer to the growing problem, but we’re certain that a complacent shrug is not the solution. This time, the photos were removed quickly, but both Justin and Selena have no doubt been left with lingering feelings of vulnerability. Past victims of photo hacking have described feelings of anxiety so intense they were unable to leave their homes. Both celebrities and non-famous folks who have been victims of hacks are acutely aware of a reality that most of us do are best to ignore at 2017: Each of us is more exposed than ever before, and few among of us have any real sense of what it takes to keep out personal data safe. On Friday afternoon, Swift unveiled a music video teaser for “Look at What You Made Me Do,” two days ahead of when the full video will premiere at the MTV Video Music Awards. But it has revealed enough to severely anger the Beyhive, the loyal group of Beyonce fans who worship at the feet of the world’s most popular solo singer… … and who have now set their sights on Swift. Taylor Swift – “Look at What You Made Me Do” In one frame from her video teaser, Swift is dressed in a black leotard and fishnet tights while leading a group of male dancers who are all rocking similar looks. The footage appears to be set in an ornate ballroom. Critics, meanwhile, are pointing to Beyonce’s Lemonade visual album as a comparison. In the video for the Beyonce track “Sorry,” the superstar and Serena Williams dance in the halls of a lavish Louisiana plantation… while wearing – you guessed it! – black leotards. Queen Bey also donned the look with a contingent of similarly dressed backup dancers during her performance of “Formation” at Super Bowl 50. One fan tweeted side-by-side screen shots of Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” teaser and video from Lemonade, captioning it “Lemonade and Minute Maid.” Ouch. That’s harsh. But is it fair? Added Beyonce fan added: “Taylor Swift wanna be Beyoncé so bad.” Taylor has received A LOT backlash for this new single, which many Internet users believe to be petty and simply not very catchy. It also has a very dark tone. Talk about a total shocker! Just kidding — literally anyone with the tiniest bit of sense could have seen this coming. Ryan Edwards and Mackenzie Standifer, those Chattanooga lovebirds who just got married back in May in that romantic parking lot wedding , may be headed for a split. We know, we know, it’s tough to hear. But honestly, if Ryan is on Tinder asking women for vagina pics , maybe this is for the best. According to a report from The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, things are so bad between them that Ryan has left their home and blocked Mackenzie’s humber. “This was going on for a while, even before the Tinder stuff broke,” a source explains. “But he has not stayed at home for the past few days.” Not only that, but he’s been telling multiple Teen Mom OG crew members that he plans on filing for divorce. And before you roll your eyes at those dramatics, the source insists that “he did not just say it in passing.” “It was mentioned multiple times to multiple people on the crew.” Since he was obviously super, super high at the time of the wedding, couldn’t he just get the thing annulled? That definitely seems possible, right? While he’s having these issues with his brand new wife, he’s been living back at his parents’ house. “They told Ryan he could stay at their house while he and Mackenzie were having issues,” the source says, “but they said if he was coming for other reasons, they aren’t having it.” … Other reasons like drugs? But while it might be easy to blame all of their issues on Ryan, it sounds like Mackenzie isn’t exactly a walk in the park, either. The Ashley’s sources claim that she’s been getting pretty greedy with MTV lately. “Mackenzie requested that MTV pay for her and her friends to go on vacation to ‘get away from it all’ and film, of course.” Apparently “MTV considered it, but yesterday they decided against it and said they will not pay for it.” Looks like we may finally know why this 20-year-old divorced mother agreed to marry Ryan after he endangered their lives by driving high , huh? It’s absolutely ridiculous that she’d think MTV would pay for a vacation for her and her friends — seriously, who cares about watching a Teen Mom’s baby daddy’s wife filming by themselves? And Mackenzie’s greed isn’t only about the vacation. As a source says, “The crew has been filming Mackenzie over the last week or so, give or take.” “She has not made it easy and at times she’s refused to talk about the Ryan drama on-camera, but has stated that she will talk if they pay her more.” These Teen Mom insiders say that they’re not sure if they did pay her more, or even how much of all this delicious drama will make it to the show.
