US swimmer Ryan Lochte may have just found himself in some hot water. In what’s certainly the strangest story to emerge from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Lochte claimed he and three of his teammates were robbed at gunpoint by thieves who initially posed as police officers. Yesterday, several media outlets reported that Lochte may be lying about the incident in an effort to cover up violent and destructive behavior by himself and his teammates. The reports surfaced in response to Brazilian authorities’ efforts to prevent Lochte and the other three swimmers – Jimmy Feigen, Jack Conger and Gunnar Bentz – from returning to the States while the investigation into the matter was ongoing. Believing they had sufficient reason to suspect that Lochte and company had lied about the robbery, police arrived at Rio’s Olympic Village with the intention of seizing the swimmers’ passports. Lochte, however, had already returned to the States. Now, his three teammates – two of him were removed from their flight home moments before the plane was scheduled to take off – are being detained by Brazilian officials. And it looks as though they’ve offered testimony that could spell big trouble for all four athletes. The Associated Press is reporting that Conger and Bentz have confirmed that the story Lochte told reporters on Sunday was fabricated. The swimmer reportedly made up the robbery lie in order to cover up a fight with a gas station security guard that took place after the guard attempted to prevent the men from urinating on a building and destroying property. Needless to say, the story doesn’t do much for the reputation of the US men’s swim team. As for what sort of legal consequences it may carry for Lochte and company, that remains to be seen. It seems not a day goes by that we don't hear stories of escalating casualty counts in some overseas conflict. Often they take place in cities that most Americans couldn't locate on a world map. Just as frequently, these stories come toward the end of a nightly news broadcast, buried by more trending topics such as the Rio Olympics or a presidential candidate's latest gaffe. We're not saying that a caring, compassionate person can't also take an interest in the less consequential or more entertaining news items of the day. But we are saying that when a powerful image that makes the distantly political intensely personal, it's important to take notice. Omran Daqneesh is a five-year-old boy living in war-torn Syria. A photo of his stunned, bloodied face following an air strike in his native Aleppo has gone viral today. Like Alan Kurdi, the toddler who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea while fleeing Syria with his family last year, Omran has become a potent reminder of the immense human toll of modern warfare. For some, the photo is a vivid illustration of the urgency of resolving the Syrian refugee crisis in a fashion that will save as many civilian lives as possible. For others, it's simply confirmation that unimaginable horrors befall the world's most innocent humans on a daily basis. Regardless of one's personal politics, it's impossible to not be affected by the photo of Omran. The images and video of Omran show him moments after he was pulled from the rubble of a building that was decimated in an attack orchestrated by either Russia or the government of Syria. It's unclear if the boy has any surviving family members. Many of the images of Omran were shared with the international media via the Syrian American Medical Society. Star Magazine’s cover this week claims to know all about secrets of Stefani and Shelton ceremony. “The vows, the gowns, the guests,” the cover screams. “They bought their rings online!” “Why Miranda [Lambert] stormed out in tears,” another caption read next to a photo of Shelton’s ex-wife wiping away a tear. Inside the magazine, according to Gossip Cop , things get even weirder . “Preparations are already well under way. They’re planning the wedding for late October, when they’ll both have a break in their busy work schedules,” Star claims, going into detail on Stefani’s gown, the guest list and their honeymoon. Speaking of guest list, Lambert “stormed out” of somewhere when she found out she was invited. Where she stormed out of is really not important given how fake this story seems. “The nuptials will be held at Blake’s $2.3 million estate in Nashville, right after Gwen wraps up her ‘This Is What The Truth Feels Like’ tour and Blake finishes shooting the current season of ‘The Voice.’” Gossip Cop pointed out that The Voice doesn’t wrap its live episodes until the middle of December. Teen Mom 3 may not have developed into the ratings juggernaut that its predecessors turned out to be, but Mackenzie McKee is still fondly remembered by many fans of reality TV and … teenage pregnancy, we guess. Anyway, last month, we heard reports of McKee choosing a rather unique name for her third child, and now it seems the former TM3 favorite has stuck to her guns by saddlin’ the lil fella with a handle straight out of the Wild West. Mackenzie and her husband, rodeo champion Josh McKee, revealed to Us Weekly today that on August 14, they welcomed their third child, a boy named Broncs Weston. Now there’s a moniker you can hang your ten-gallon hat on. Mackenzie and Josh are already parents to 2-year-old Jaxie and 4-year-old Gannon, but it seems there were some shakeups in their relationship in the months leading up to the birth of baby Broncs. In April, Mackenzie told TMZ that she and Josh had separated and she would be raising their children by herself. It seems the pair has patched things up as McKenzie’s recent social media activity indicates that she is still very much a married woman. It also indicates that she was very, very eager to welcome her newest bundle of joy into the world. She recently posted the above photo, with a caption reading: “Momma is getting impatient. I’m so ready to hold baby boy and so blessed with friends and family, at my 35 week appointment he was measuring over 10 pounds.” Mackenzie, who suffers from type 1 diabetes, also stated that she considers her third child to be a miracle, as there was a time when she believed she would not be able to get pregnant at all: “Although baby number 3 was a huge risk and my body could never carry another, we made it to the end with lots of fear and prayers,” she recently wrote on Instagram. Kylie Jenner has entered the world of real estate investment at the tender age of 19. TMZ reports that Jenner has officially closed on a 4 bedroom, 4 bath home in Hidden Hills, CA for $4.5 million. The 5,000 square foot property boasts a pool and hot tub is conveniently located next door to the $6 million home she bought in May. In addition to this, Jenner is listing her first home (purchased in February 2015 for $2.7 million) for $3.9 million home, situated gated Calabasas community where many of her family members live. Sources tell TMZ that Jenner plans to use the new home as an office of sorts for her cosmetics line. Since she also has a ton of friends and a boyfriend who owes former landlords a bajillion dollars, so they're reportedly all welcome to use the home as their “crash pad.” Jenner shared a brief Snapchat video of the new keys to her home, as well as a blink-and-you'll-miss-it tour, a strange move given that she moved out of her first home after a stalker was arrested there because he wanted “to meet her” in December 2015. Noticing that she was unfazed by and a little too relaxed about the incident, her older sisters decided to teach her a lesson on a July episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians . “There's this guy who has been following Kylie…I am definitely worried,” Kourtney said. So, Kourtney and Khloe had someone decorate their baby sister's car in balloons bearing her photo. When Jenner saw the car, it didn't scare her. Rather, it embarrassed her and drew the attention of the paparazzi. Whatever measures Jenner is taking now to protect herself is anyone's guess.
