Spice scammed all of us when she posted a questionable photo on Instagram that left fans speculating she bleached her skin. It turns out, the image was a super effective marketing ploy to grab our attention. Spice released her mixtape Captured , which debuted at #1 on the reggae charts. Spice’s controversial promotion raised eyebrows, but for good reason. Her first single is about the affects of colorism and how it could push someone to bleach their skin. “I get hate from my own race yes that’s a fact,” she raps. “Cause the same black people dem say I’m too black and if you bleach out you skin dem same one come a chat.” Celebrities and artists like Michael Jackson, Vybez Kartel and Sammy Sosa infamously bleached their skin to appear lighter. Spice’s stance, banish colorism, was met with polarizing comments. While some fans understood her message, others couldn’t understand her tactics. I want to congratulate Spice’s PR stunt and people because they successfully nailed these goals. Here, light-skinned means ‘exotic’ to many, and exotic, in turn, is considered to be more interesting,” Michael from Trinidad and Tobago said. “Light-skinned people tend to have the advantage/upper hand when it comes to the way they are treated by the general public. I’m not just saying that. I’ve seen it with my own eyes, and, being dark-skinned, have been on the receiving end of negativity because of my shade of black. In the video the “Sweetner” singer posted recently we see Mac Miller getting dipped for The Oscars the couple attended with the help his mother Joan and grandmother, Nonna. Unfortunately, that was the last time the couple had a public outing as they broke up a few months later in May of 2017. Obviously, Mac still holds a special place in Ariana Grande’s heart. Last week BOSSIP caught up with one of the stars of the show, Jocko Sims who plays heart surgeon Dr. Floyd Reynolds. Reynolds has a lot of chemistry with Dr. Lauren Bloom, played by actress Janet Montgomery, and while it’s clear the pair have a good thing going, Reynolds is reluctant to let their relationship move beyond the friends with benefits zone because he wants a black wife and a black family. BOSSIP: What did you think when you read about the swirl situation in the script? Jocko Sims: This was our goal, just to get people talking. That’s what was refreshing to me, that it sparked a conversation. When I first saw it I was a little nervous, because first of all what he said was racist. Flip it. Think about it if the roles were reversed. A white guy and Black girl and they’re having sexual relations and she asks if they can take things further and he says “Well, I can’t because you’re not white.” BOSSIP: But that happens all the time, especially if one party or the other is a certain religion. Like you will find that if you’re dating a Jewish person or another religion. JS: But is that racist? Speaking of Jewish, We showed this that a hospital and one guy was really concerned because he felt like if the tables were turned it would be wrong. My concern, I really try to look at things from multiple perspectives, whether it concerns race or not when I’m looking at characters. I was thinking he is going to offend people on both sides. Like I got hit up by Black women and they’re like “Whoo, that’s right!”, then I got hit up today at the airport like ‘What are you doing? Don’t be using us as an excuse… Da da da da da, you not really down.’ Bottom line again, we’re talking about it again in this country, we’re talking and that’s what we wanted. You’ve got your Turkish families, who are like “I want you to marry a nice Turkish… ” It’s interesting because I’ve been in that position. I’ve dated different races. I’ve had my mom’s voice in the back of my head. The only issue I had was maybe I wasn’t able to come to terms with why I didn’t wanna take “Susie” — I just made up a name — home, but I would be afraid of it. I sympathize with Reynolds because, yeah, he’s been there. HE’s going where I have been I’ve never been compelled to tell someone ‘Hey you’re good enough for — but yeah you can’t come home and meet Mom.’ That was a little bit unrealistic for me but everybody generally is loving it. Someone asked me what I would want for the future generations and all I would ask that we just be able to sit down and listen to one another and have a conversation. For folks, before they talk to listen. The dialogue is worth having. BOSSIP: So is this going to be something that we’ll continue to see because he did offer her a drink after that conversation. Does she go back to his apartment? JS: A few people have been confused by that. I think that was kind of unclear, because he asked her if she wanted a drink literally right after she almost died, so she was like ‘Right now?’ because you know ‘get a drink’ usually meant… But in this case he was literally asking her if she wanted a glass of scotch to relax, he wasn’t asking her for more sex. Will there be more? You know I can’t tell you that. Everybody on Twitter is like “You know they’re going to … ” That’s what I would expect too. For a very long time — too long, some may say, but there was a reality show to film, after all — she was dealing with husband Hank Baskett’s cheating scandal. And now, she’s dealing with the fact that Hank is no longer her husband . Yep, the divorce was finally made official this month, and as heartbreaking as that is, you know Kendra has to move on … … To new drama! See, for some reason, years and years after becoming famous for her body, Kendra is speaking out about body-shaming. She has a point, for sure, but why now? Here, let’s just see what she had to say (spoiler: it’s a lot), then we can discuss. So Kendra shared that photo of her chest, and in her caption, she wrote that “I get a lot of sh-t for my boobs.” And then she proceeded to tell us “the true story.” “I don’t get dressed or have any intentions on using the boobs to get a man or attention,” she began. “I throw on clothes, get ready for the day like everyone.” She said that she got breast implants when she was 18 because “I was and am an athelete n Tom boy n i felt that i wanted to do something to make MYSELF feel more like a chick BEFORE playboy was even an option.” “Ended up being the best investment of my life but at the end of the day I’m still that Tom boy who can care less what a man thinks.” She explained that she doesn’t try to flaunt her boobs, “they are just on me n apart of me.” “To shame or make a woman feel bad for having boobs n wearing a tank top is not ok n haters should be the ones asking themselves ‘why am i hating on a woman for having boobs.'” Indignant Kendra also said that she breastfed her kids, and yes, she wears slightly revealing clothes from time to time, and when she does, “they jiggle and bounce.” However, “I don’t have time to sit here n keep blaming myself for looking a certain way n where i come from n what I’ve done in my life.” On a happier note, she wrote that she does enjoy her life, “so everything else that people seem think is their problem not mine.” (Yeah, it’s a little hard to understand her sometimes, but it’s Kendra, come on.) “I literally can have a day where I’m only focused on my kids and school and sports, one pic is taken n people say to ‘grow up,'” she complained. “Ummmm I’m sorry that my boobs are making you so mad but I’m doing my job as a mother and a woman every minute of every day.” “Sooooo,” she concluded, “in the end i speak not only for myself but for other women who have boobs too.” The women, as well as the boobs, surely thank you, Kendra. Look, like we said, she’s a little simple, OK? And the repeated use of “n” instead of “and” is sort of oddly maddening. But she definitely makes sense here. Even though she’s built a career on her body, and even though she’s made significant changes to that body, it doesn’t define her. Of course she shouldn’t get any hate for living her life while also having large fake breasts. No one should. Is it interesting that she’s going off on this kind of rant and sharing a photo of her chest immediately after finalizing her divorce ? It really, really is.
