The latest is none other than the world’s hottest boy band: One Direction . Direction member Niall Horan broke the news on his Twitter feed Wednesday, writing , “In the studio with our boy @justinbieber last night, it’s gona sound great!” Band mate Liam Payne confirmed the Internet-shattering collabo, adding , “Got a first listen to Justin Bieber’s new album yesterday wowww big songs!!! It’s gunna be a smash … Expect the unexpected :O” Bieber seemed to enjoy the hang with his new pals as well, responding to Payne with the Tweet, “@Real_Liam_Payne Thanks buddy. Good chillin with u guys.” As the Huffington Post reported, Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, seeded the promise of the shriek-inducing duet, tweeting about the potential One Direction studio action, “[A collaboration is] very possible. He likes them and thinks they are good dudes. All people of that generation should be there to help each other.” The singer is also making some beautiful music with his mentor and guiding light: Usher. On Wednesday, the Biebs tweeted that he was in the studio with, “@iawill and @usherraymondiv going in!” He didn’t reveal the name of the song Black Eyed Peas mastermind will.i.am was working on for the pair, but followed with the (grammatically challenged) amped-up thought, “Me and @usherraymondiv gotta have a duet on every album.” They’re just a few of the superstars he’s recruited for the project. Mike Posner was the co-producer on “Boyfriend,” and other bold-faced names in the mix include Timbaland, Drake and Pharrell, as well as possible assists from Lil Wayne, Ke$ha and Kanye West . Bieber has already landed a hit with the first single, “Boyfriend” which sold 520,000 downloads in its first week. He has plenty of other things to celebrate as well. Loose pills and a small spoon with a ‘white crystal like substance’ were found in late singer’s hotel room. By Kara Warner Whitney Houston Photo: Lester Cohen/ WireImage Although the official cause of Whitney Houston’s death was recently announced as accidental drowning , the L.A. County coroner released its final report Wednesday (April 4) that provides new details about Houston’s condition when authorities arrived on the scene at the Beverly Hilton on February 11. According to the report obtained by People and E! Online , Houston complained of a sore throat so she decided to take a bath before getting ready for Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party. When Houston’s assistant returned to the hotel room after running an errand, the singer was face down in the bathtub in 13 inches of “extremely hot” water, which caused a burn on Houston’s back. When police arrived on the scene, they found an open bottle of champagne, bottles of prescription drugs and loose pills scattered about the room. In the bathroom, they found an ashtray with several cigarette butts and a small spoon with a “white crystal like substance in it and a rolled up piece of white paper.” The report also states that the white substance was found on a small mirror. Kristy McCracken of the Beverly Hills Police Department wrote in her final report that she reasoned Houston “possibly overdosed on a narcotic substance, prescription medications, over the counter medications and alcohol” and noted a “bloody purge” coming out of Houston’s nose, as well as minor abrasions on her face, arms and legs. Aside from the traces of cocaine, Benadril, the muscle relaxer Flexeril, marijuana and Xanax found in the toxicology screening, the report cited Houston’s body as being “well built, muscular and fairly well nourished.” The man who performed the autopsy, Dr. Christopher Rogers, chief of the coroner’s Forensic Medicine Division, and chief medical examiner-coroner Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran wrote that Houston’s drowning was due to the effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use. They also detected mild emphysema, pulmonary edema and leiomyomas (benign tumors) in her uterus. Houston was laid to rest in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey , on February 19. Paramount Pictures debuted Katy Perry’s “Part of Me” trailer for her 3-D concert movie Tuesday night. The trailer offers a glimpse of what audiences can expect from the film, in theaters July 5. The movie gives fans a peek into the “Firework” singer’s personal life . When Perry sat down with MTV News, she said, “Literally, this film is basically like you’re seeing it from my best friend-buddy perspective.” Perry’s always been open with her fans, interacting with them on Twitter and holding meet-and-greets at every show. But the trailer reveals a side of Perry that’s sure to be new to fans. To show you what we mean, here are five key scenes from the trailer. Be Prepared As a commentator says, “She outworks everyone.” There are shots of Perry at the gym, trying on a costume at a fitting, rehearsing her dance moves and testing the wires and ropes for stage stunts. When fans arrive at the arena for a concert, they see the final production, but not all the hard work that went into putting the show together. From the looks of the trailer, audiences will gain a new respect for Perry as they see just how hard she works to give a stellar performance. “Marriage Over” After the words “Marriage Over” flash into view via a newspaper headline, there’s a heartbreaking scene of Perry looking defeated as she’s hunched over her dressing-room table. It shows that while she may work hard at international superstardom, at the end of the day, she’s human and emotional hardships affect her just like the rest of us. We commend Perry for sharing such a personal time in her life with her fans. She’s a Firework The next scene of Perry shows her getting out of a car for a red-carpet event. She has overcome her failed marriage and moved on with her career. The moment is inspirational as Perry continues to take the stage and perform regardless of what’s going on in her personal life. Her strength is sure to leave an impression on viewers. The Long Journey In between scenes of old music videos from the beginning of her career, we learn that Perry wasn’t always the California princess we know and love today. She grew up in a strict Christian home and her performances were limited to church, but she continued following her dreams. After they finally seemed to be within reach, the label she signed with dropped her. We see a younger Perry pouring her heart into her music as she records a song, only to look defeated afterwards as she says in a voiceover, “I was going through some depressing dark times, but it’s a journey.” Embracing Perry’s “Weirdness” We were hoping to see some behind-the-scenes footage of Perry and her spontaneity, and it looks like our wish came true! “Thank you so much for believing in my weirdness,” Perry yells to the audience. She says her goal when she’s performing is “just to make people smile.” What follows is a montage of Perry posing with fans (one of whom is dressed up as her nerdy alter ego, Kathy Beth Terry), sticking her tongue out at the camera and busting out some awkward dance moves. ‘There’s probably no more single important skill that you can ask for in an actress,’ ‘Battleship’ director Peter Berg tells MTV News. But even in the beginning stages of the movie, director Peter Berg never doubted the pop singer’s talent. “I’m a big believer in musicians-turned-actor,” Berg told MTV News, proceeding to list many of the musicians who went on to make it on the big screen. “You could do a great MTV special about all the musicians that have acted,” he continued. “It starts for me with Frank Sinatra, who won an Oscar for a movie called ‘From Here to Eternity.’ Mick Jagger was in a film called ‘Performance.’ David Bowie was in ‘The Man Who Fell to Earth.’ Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand. Did you see a film called ‘Precious’? Mariah Carey — remember how awesome she was in that film? Terrific. Lenny Kravitz. The late Whitney Houston was in a film called ‘The Bodyguard.’ ” Houston, however, played a musician in “The Bodyguard,” which was a role very familiar to her. If the “Talk That Talk” singer were to depict the beloved singer and actress in a Whitney Houston biopic — as she told the U.K. Press Association she “would give her entire life to do” — she would no doubt have more experience to draw on than someone who was just an actress. But Rihanna’s role of FBI agent Raikes in “Battleship” is unfamiliar territory. The thought never worried Berg. “Well, look at Mariah Carey in ‘Precious.’ I mean, my God, you would never have thought that was Mariah Carey,” he said. Berg says that what helps musicians as they cross over into acting is that they already have many of the same skills actors possess. “They’re very artistic. They’re expressive. They’re honest. They’re willing to take chances,” the director explained. “And I knew from the second I saw Rihanna in her videos that that girl had real charisma. She came in and had a long meeting with me. We just played around, and she really didn’t even know what was going on, but what was apparent is that she really has the guts to take chances.
