See more here:

In her first interview since having her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Beyonce is every bit the gushing new mom you’d expect. But she also defended the precautions she and husband Jay-Z took to protect their privacy during the birth. In the wake of the birth there were several reports that other parents were kept from seeing their children due to security restrictions at Lenox Hill hospital placed by the Carters. Beyonce defended the hospital lockdown in an exclusive interview with Star magazine: “Security was very tight, not for the sake of it. It was for the security of our daughter.” When asked about being a new mother, Bey said: “Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can’t be found.” Beyonce announced to the world that she was with child at the 2011 VMA’s during her performance of “Love On Top.” READ THE FULL INTERVIEW HERE. Justin Bieber Debuts Darker Locks

Teen superstar was spotted with new hairstyle in Los Angeles over the weekend. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber (file) Photo: Getty Images About a year ago, Justin Bieber made headlines when he lopped off his famous locks in favor of a shorter do. Now, almost 12 months later, he’s once again making some hair-related headlines. So, what has Bieber done now that has everyone buzz ing? Well, over the weekend, the Biebs was spotted in Los Angeles donning much darker hair than his trademark sandy blond. When Bieber cut off his hair last year, MTV News spoke to his hairstylist, Vanessa Price , who told us about his new look, noting that it had a lot to do with Bieber’s growing pains. “We knew it was going to be a big deal,” Price explained. “We knew it was going to shock fans, but we also knew it was going to be a change in terms of growing up. I think that’s something that people adjust to. “We’d been talking about it for a while and shared some ideas, but literally the day of he was adamant about the haircut. He amped himself up for it,” Price continued, before describing his momentary hesitation. “The minute we started cutting, he was like, ‘Wait, wait, wait.’ He loves it. He’s enjoying it.” The new hair color coincides with his girlfriend Selena Gomez’s hairstyle changes. She recently tweeted a photo of herself sporting multi-colored highlights in her hair. Bieber’s new look may be part of a makeover for his upcoming album, Believe, slated for release later this year. He confirmed last week that Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am will appear on the album. Not only does Bieber want to grow up when it comes to his look but also when it comes to his music. “The only conversation we’ve had about Justin’s album that we’re about to do is it’s really important that it’s the proper transition, because we’ve seen him [with] ‘Baby,’ now we’re watching him grow up,” Bieber’s longtime vocal producer Kuk Harrell told MTV News in November. “And we can’t just throw him into the adult game right away. It has to be the proper transition.” Related Photos Justin Bieber’s Famous Former Hair Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez: A Look Back In Photos Related Artists Justin Bieber

‘Smash’ Vs. ‘Glee’: Katharine McPhee Breaks It Down

‘We’re just actually really grateful that ‘Glee’ has opened the door,’ former American Idol says of her upcoming musical series. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Katharine McPhee at the Golden Globes on Sunday Photo: Jeff Vespa/ WireImage During the Golden Globes on Sunday night (January 15), there was one promo that played nearly on a loop. The commercial for NBC’s new music-themed prime-time drama, “Smash,” seemed to play almost as much as the show itself, which featured funny barbs from host Ricky Gervais , an equally funny response from Golden Globe-winner Madonna and a big win for “The Descendants,” which took home Best Motion Picture – Drama . Before the Golden Globes kicked off, MTV News caught up with “Smash” leading lady and former American Idol Katharine McPhee on the red carpet. She happily explained how there’s really no competition between her forthcoming show and that other singing show on Fox, “Glee.” “You know, we’re so secluded from L.A., where they’re shooting ‘Glee,’ and we haven’t had any interaction. No one’s had any sort of conversations. We’re just actually really grateful that ‘Glee’ has opened the door,” she said. “And has made music work on television.” In teases for the show, McPhee is seen covering Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful,” and when we caught up with her, she told us that later on in the season there will be a Rihanna cover. McPhee even went on to share what famed actors and singers will also appear on the highly anticipated show. “Well, we have Uma Thurman, who’s not a pop star but a movie star. She’s actually shooting with us already,” she said. “[One Republic frontman] Ryan Tedder is a guest star. So he’s a pop star and an amazing writer. Oh god, and Nick Jonas . We’re doing pretty good for the first season.” “Smash,” also starring Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston and produced by Steven Spielberg, premieres February 6. The show follows the behind-the-scenes staging of a Broadway show about Marilyn Monroe, who is certainly in the zeitgeist nowadays as Michelle Williams just nabbed a Golden Globe for her portrayal of the Hollywood icon in “My Week With Marilyn.” Stick with MTV News all night for the 2012 Golden Globes winners, and don’t miss all the fashion from the Golden Globes red carpet ! Golden Globes 2012: Winners And Losers

Christopher Plummer charmed, while Ricky Gervais managed to both succeed and fail as host. By Eric Ditzian Ricky Gervais hosts the 2012 Golden Globes Photo: Getty Images The winners of the 2012 Golden Globes have already been tabulated by the briefcase-toting folks at Ernst & Young and announced to the world. But wins by the likes of “The Artist” and “The Descendants” only tell us part of the story. Who truly came out on top Sunday evening? Who didn’t get a chance to take the stage and thank every single person they’ve ever known and many who they’ve never met? Let’s take a look at true winners and losers at the ceremony. Winner : Ricky Gervais Ricky Gervais made a triumphant return to the Globes’ stage after last year’s controversy, winning over Hollywood frenemies and delivering a very funny opening monologue. Loser : Ricky Gervais The comedian might have talked a big game heading into the show, but Gervais’ performance was a restrained one after last year’s hullabaloo. What’s great about the comedian is how he coats a witty mean-spiritedness with kindly, winking, you-know-I-still-love-you sugar. When your biggest dig is a fish-in-the-barrel attack on “The Tourist,” you know you’ve caved to the worrywarts in the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Loser : “The Tourist” Two years running, the show’s laughingstock. Not even its star, Johnny Depp, felt compelled to rescue this dud from Gervais’ verbal assault. Winner : The dog from “The Artist” Not only did his tricks onstage make for the night’s most-adorable acceptance-speech moment, but he was the only winner whose backstage urination was socially acceptable, rather than drunken and embarrassing. Winner : Christopher Plummer At the age of 82, the “Beginners” star is finally getting his moment. The only way Plummer could be more graceful and loveable would be if he’d broken into a tune from “The Sound of Music” after thanking his wife of 40 years. Winner : Seth Rogen’s penis The actor stood next to Kate Beckinsale. His member stood at attention. And the audience laughed and laughed and laughed. Winner : Martin Henderson Peter Dinklage’s suggestion during his speech to Google Henderson’s name brought much attention to the plight of the little-known man, who was seriously injured in a dwarf-tossing incident. Loser : Viola Davis It’s hard to consider the “Help” star a loser this awards season, considering how many wins she’s already collected, but her loss to Meryl Streep stands out as the biggest snub of the Globes. We hope we can add Davis to the winners’ circle come Oscar night. Loser : Meryl Streep’s glasses Though Streep won Best Actress in a Drama, her spectacles abandoned her in her time of need, leaving the “Iron Lady” star unable to read her speech and consequently cursing up a storm. On second thought, perhaps we should shift this one over to “Winner.” Winner : Bryan Cranston He might have inexplicably lost to Kelsey Grammer for best actor in a TV drama, but anyone watching the boob tube in 2011 knows that Cranston’s turn in “Breaking Bad” was the finest performance of the year. Winner : Reese Witherspoon’s stylist The dress was perfect. The hair was perfect-er. Winner : Madonna Madonna won an award. She delivered the night’s biggest slam on Gervais’ shoulders. She looked great. Loser : Anyone in a category with Kate Winslet This is pretty much a perennial fact: Kate Winslet does not lose at awards shows. Sorry, other very-talented ladies. Kate Winslet does not lose at awards shows. Check out the 2012 Golden Globes winners , and don’t miss all the fashion from the Golden Globes red carpet ! Idris Elba Feeling ‘Love’ After Golden Globe Win

‘Luther’ star talks to MTV News about upcoming ‘Pacific Rim,’ ‘Thor 2’ and ‘Avengers.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Idris Elba Photo: MTV News Idris Elba might have been celebrating at the 2012 Golden Globes for his “Luther” win, but he has a number of high-profile projects coming up also worth cheering over. MTV News’ Josh Horowitz caught up with the British actor to get an update on Elba’s role in several of 2013’s biggest movies. Next year, Elba will star in Guillermo del Toro’s big, ambitious, monster versus robot movie “Pacific Rim.” The actor has been in Toronto filming del Toro’s first film since 2008’s “Hellboy II: The Golden Army,” and he said he can’t wait to get back. “I’m going back tomorrow morning. I’ve been there for five months,” Elba said. “I love it. Guillermo’s a genius, and the film we’re making is a huge film, bad monster movie and robots and me.” If starring in del Toro’s next film wasn’t enough, Elba also has his own spot in the Marvel universe to worry about. The actor confirmed that his character, Heimdall, would be making another appearance soon. ” ‘Thor 2’ for sure,” Elba said. ” ‘Avengers,’ we’re not sure about, but ‘Thor 2’ we’re going at it again.” Elba won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television for “Luther,” a BBC series about a troubled detective. He shared his excitement about winning for a smaller show. “This is great. We made our little show in London, and now we’re getting this worldwide recognition of it,” Elba said. “Love it.” Check out the 2012 Golden Globes winners , and don’t miss all the fashion from the Golden Globes red carpet ! Ricky Gervais’ Five Best Golden Globes Jokes

He might have been a bit tamer than last year’s hosting gig, but he still had quite a few zingers. By Ryan J. Downey Ricky Gervais at the 2012 Golden Globes Photo: Getty Images In several interviews, Ricky Gervais made it clear that he felt a responsibility to skewer the rich and famous assembled at the Golden Globes this year. It’s not about the people in the room; it’s about the people watching at home. We are in a deep economic crisis, after all. Let’s get this in perspective: They’re the wealthiest, most privileged people in the world,” he told Esquire in a recent interview. Many of the promotional spots leading up to his return as host took this angle, as well. This year, the co-creator and co-star of the often fame-and-fortune skewering “Life’s Too Short,” “The Ricky Gervais Show,” “An Idiot Abroad,” “Extras” and both the U.K. and U.S. version of “The Office” saved most of his acerbic venom for several folks who weren’t in attendance: Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Adam Sandler and Eddie Murphy. And a few of the jokes directed at larger targets seemed to have compliments thinly hidden in their premises: Clooney is handsome, Firth is well-loved, Portman puts family first. Hardly biting. But in fairness, Gervais promising to up the ante from his stellar performance last year is a bit like Paul McCartney promising to outdo The White Album. Some things in art and life come down to time, place, circumstance and the right convergence of events (Ricky would probably be upset if we suggested divine intervention). And while another comedic actor may have had the edgiest joke of the night (“Hello, I’m Seth Rogen, and I am currently trying to conceal a massive erection,” said while standing about a foot away from Kate Beckinsale), Gervais certainly still generated several laughs. “It’s so good having a job where you can get drunk and say what you want. And they pay you,” he said at one point during the telecast. In case you missed ’em, here are the five funniest things the massively talented Englishman had to say: 5. “Tonight you get Britain’s biggest comedian, hosting the world’s second biggest awards show on America’s third biggest network. Sorry, is it? Fourth. It’s fourth. For any of you who don’t know, the Golden Globes are just like the Oscars, but without all that esteem. The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton. A bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker and more easily bought. Allegedly. Nothing’s been proved.” 4. “What’s with all the divorces? What’s going on? Arnold and Maria, J.Lo and Marc Anthony, Ashton and Demi. Kim Kardashian and some guy no one will remember. He wasn’t around long. Seventy-two days. A marriage that lasted 72 days. I’ve sat through longer James Cameron acceptance speeches.” 3. “Who needs the Oscars? Not me. And not Eddie Murphy. He walked out on them, and good for him. But when the man who said yes to ‘Norbit’ says no to you, you know you’re in trouble. I love Eddie Murphy. He loves dressing up, doesn’t he? Versatile. He’s versatile. No, he is. Bit of trivia for you: Eddie Murphy and Adam Sandler between them played all the parts in the movie ‘The Help.’ Isn’t that brilliant. They were brilliant. I can’t believe they’re not here. Or maybe they are. They’re masters of disguise.” 2. “Justin Bieber nearly had to take a paternity test. What a waste of a test that would have been. No, he’s not the father. The only way that he could impregnate a girl was if he borrowed one of Martha Stewart’s old turkey basters.” 1. To Johnny Depp: “I want to ask you a question. And be honest. Are you on recreational drugs? I’m joking, that’s not the question. And we all know the answer. Have you seen ‘The Tourist’ yet?” Stick with MTV News for the 2012 Golden Globes winners , and don’t miss all the fashion from the Golden Globes red carpet ! Ricky Gervais’ Five Best Golden Globes Jokes

Golden Globes 2012: Best And Worst Moments

Peter Dinklage’s acceptance speech and Seth Rogen’s shocking one-liner rank among best Globes moments — but there were FAILs too. By Josh Wigler Peter Dinklage at the 2012 Golden Globes Photo: Getty Images In spite of some predictable results (“The Artist” wins everything! Again!) and a far tamer-than-expected performance from returning host Ricky Gervais , there were some moments at the 2012 Golden Globes worth standing up and saluting — from victories for a handful of small-screen underdogs to appearances from real-life dogs. Of course, there were other moments we would just as soon forget. Read on for our list of the best and worst of Sunday’s (January 15) Globes! Best Penis Joke: Seth Rogen On a night peppered with lewd, “members only” humor that included Madonna trying to steal a smooch from Gervais and George Clooney offering “Shame” star Michael Fassbender a few golf tips, it was “50/50” comedian Seth Rogen who came out swinging with the most shocking one-liner of the night. Rogen called attention to his “concealed erection” while standing next to Kate Beckinsale, and it’s a good thing she wasn’t in character as “Underworld” badass Selene, or else that joke may have ended very, very differently. Best Google Alert: Peter Dinklage This year’s Globes gave Dinklage yet another deserved win for playing Tyrion Lannister on “Game of Thrones.” But the actor didn’t simply accept his award, he sent every viewer with access to the Internet straight to the Web with instructions to Google Martin Henderson. No, he did not mean the “Torque” actor. Instead, Dinklage successfully called attention to a dwarf-tossing victim in England, using the Globes as a platform to highlight a greater issue. Least Prepared Winner: Meryl Streep When you hold the record for receiving the most Golden Globe nominations of any actor in history, one would think you’d be a bit more prepared when an award actually came your way. During Sunday night’s broadcast, however, Streep was genuinely stunned by her Best Actress victory for “The Iron Lady.” In a discombobulated acceptance speech, she thanked actors who weren’t even nominated for awards and dragged on for way too frakkin’ long. Meryl, we love you, but please: a little preparation goes a long way. At this point in your storied career, there’s really no excuse for getting played off the stage. Biggest Mistake: The “Boss” Wins Over Walter White No disrespect intended to the former Frasier Crane, who has ruled the small screen in many incarnations over the years. Grammar’s work on Starz’s freshman drama “Boss” is worth acclaim, no doubt, but is it worth more than “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston’s continued excellence as chemistry teacher-turned-meth cook? Not a chance. Four years into the AMC thriller and Cranston continues to top himself with every episode in his role as Walter White. He is the danger, and there’s no question that he should have won the Globe this year. Spot-On Award: “Homeland” On the flip side, voters got it right by awarding Showtime’s “Homeland” with two major awards: one for Best Drama and one to Claire Danes for Best Actress in a TV Drama. Danes’ mentally unstable counterterrorism agent Carrie Mathison is one of the most original and moving lead characters to hit the small screen in recent years, and the actress’ victory in this category is more than deserved. Likewise, the series itself was one of the brightest TV offerings of 2011, absolutely required viewing for anyone fascinated by the world of espionage and the War on Terror. Best Dog: Uggie, “The Artist” In a year dominated by awesome movie dogs, Jack from “The Artist” — played by Uggie the Jack Russell terrier — was the only one respectful enough to actually show up to the Golden Globes. By default, Uggie wins our inaugural Best Dog award. To the other canines: shame on you for staying home. ‘Descendants’ Wins Golden Globe For Best Drama

George Clooney also won a statuette for his performance in the Alexander Payne film. By Amy Wilkinson George Clooney in “The Descendants” Photo: 20th Century Fox No tissues were necessary for the cast and crew of weepy drama “The Descendants.” The Alexander Payne-written and -directed film took home the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama, beating out star George Clooney’s other film “The Ides of March,” along with “The Help,” “Hugo,” “Moneyball” and “War Horse.” “We had an extraordinary ensemble cast of young and older actors, veterans and newcomers, but our quarterback was George Clooney,” said producer Jim Burke during his acceptance speech. “Besides giving a career-best performance, in my mind, he was a generous actor who helped everyone do his best. So thank you very much, George. And if this movie becomes a timeless movie, which I feel like it will be to me, I feel like it’s because of our filmmaker and friend, Alexander Payne.” “The Descendants” received five noms from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, including Best Performance by an Actress (Shailene Woodley), Best Director (Alexander Payne), Best Screenplay (Nat Faxon, Alexander Payne and Jim Rash) and Best Performance by an Actor, which Clooney won . Clooney also paid tribute to Payne in his acceptance speech, saying, “Thank you very much to Alexander Payne, who makes wonderful films and is a great friend.” The flick, about a widowed land baron (Clooney) who’s forced to reconnect with his young daughters, has racked up plenty of awards-season buzz (and was among MTV’s top 10 films of 2011 ). The film earned seven nominations and won Best Actor for Clooney at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards on January 12. The nods at tonight’s Golden Globes could be a harbinger for things to come, as the Academy Award nominations will be announced January 24.
