By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Shia LeBouf Photo: MTV News With “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” set to hit theaters at the end of the month, and a new face in Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ready to battle the alien bots, it seemed the sometimes turbulent relationship between director Michael Bay and former star Megan Fox was a thing of the past. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, though, Shia LaBeouf seemingly added fuel to Fox and Bay’s fiery relationship when he suggested Fox felt “awkward” working with Bay. But when we caught up with LaBeouf at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, the 24-year-old actor said his comments had been misconstrued in the media and that he has nothing but affection for the director. “I love Mike; we’re like brothers,” he said. “And we have our bickering in public sometimes. But I love Michael. And he’s still the favorite director I’ve ever worked for, and I would work with him again, and I’d do anything for him. “But no way was anything I was trying to say in malice or trying to attack Michael,” he added. That didn’t stop news outlets and blogs from publishing screaming headlines about how Fox couldn’t handle Bay’s directorial style and how LaBeouf was coming to the defense of his ousted co-star. The truth, the actor told us, is that part of the creative potency in his partnership with Bay — an alliance that has driven the franchise to $1.5 billion in box-office receipts — is the way in which they can butt heads, take a breather and then move forward with the task at hand. “We scream at each other all the time,” he explained. “That’s been sort of our relationship. The superhero prequel outclasses sequels ‘The Hangover Part II’ and ‘Kung Fu Panda 2’ in the weekend’s box-office tally. By Ryan J. Downey, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Kristen Stewart and Nicki Minaj Everyone saw the way Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner bonded at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . But behind the scenes, their “Twilight Saga: Eclipse” co-star Kristen Stewart was doing some bonding of her very own — albeit of a very different sort. During one of the night’s many wins for “Twilight,” Stewart accepted the award for Best Female Performance from a bearded Ashton Kutcher and rapper Nicki Minaj. When MTV News caught up with Minaj backstage at the Gibson Amphitheatre immediately after she handed over Stewart’s Golden Popcorn, she filled us in on something about her and Kristen that viewers at home wouldn’t have otherwise known. “[Kristen] had shoes on that didn’t hurt her feet. And she didn’t care that they looked really kind of crusty,” Minaj pointed out. “But I did too! I had my Uggs on backstage. “So that made me bond with her,” she added. “She’s cute.” A fast friendship with another female celebrity in an awards-show setting isn’t unprecedented for Minaj. The Young Money rapper chatted with “Jersey Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi on the red carpet at the Grammy Awards earlier this year. In fact, Minaj declared herself “obsessed” with Snooki, and Snooki relayed the same sentiment right back. Her outgoing elbow-rubbing isn’t confined to fellow females, of course. “Ashton Kutcher is a lot of fun,” she said of the newly minted “Two and a Half Men” star and her co-presenter. “We’re cool.” The always-fashionable performer has gotten increasingly used to public speaking outside of her musical performances, as evidenced by her complete lack of pre-show jitters at Movie Awards. “I wasn’t nervous at all today — for one of the only times I can remember,” she said. “This was fun!” MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . In a special Movie Awards edition of ‘After Hours,’ Josh Horowitz learns the proper way to interview celebs. By Terri Schwartz Jennifer Lawrence Photo: MTV News With tonight’s MTV Movie Awards , MTV News’ crack interviewer Josh Horowitz needed to get his interviewing skills in tiptop shape, because, based on some of the recent chats he’s had with big-time celebrities, he was far from prepared. In the three MTV Movie Awards editions of “After Hours,” Horowitz is run through the wringer to get his interviewing skills up to par. Apparently, over the past few months of junket interviews, from the Tribeca Film Festival to chatting with the cast of “Bad Teacher,” Horowitz has performed a series of question faux pas that have made our friendly neighborhood celebrities a bit uncomfortable. Sorry, Horowitz, but Keanu Reeves isn’t a fan of suggestions that he should change his name, and Dwayne Johnson doesn’t like hearing that he’s packed on a few pounds and is now doughy. Cameron Diaz definitely doesn’t want your bottom in her face, and Olivia Wilde has heard that she is pretty often enough. Fortunately, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence have come in to put Horowitz in his place and teach him a thing or two about good reporting techniques — and how to be better than Mario Lopez. Step one: bronzer, bronzer and more bronzer. Once Horowitz was tan enough, Lawrence demanded he lose the glasses. After he raised some concerns about the whole not-being-able-to-see thing, Lawrence replied angrily, “Mario Lopez is legally blind and that’s never stopped him. Glasses off!” After running him through a host of temperamental A-lister behaviors — demanding he ask her about her love life and then sweetly declining to answer his questions — McAvoy took over. Step two: Hit the gym. Wearing an X-Men T-shirt and a tortured expression, Horowitz was put through McAvoy’s rigorous workout regimen, including push-ups while being antagonized about interviewing Angelina Jolie and being riled up about Mario Lopez while hitting a punching bag. The final step of McAvoy’s training plan? A big ol’ smooch on Horowitz’s lips. Hopefully, that will be enough to put Horowitz on the right page for the Movie Awards. Fans got a glimpse of one of the franchise’s most-anticipated scenes during MTV Movie Awards. By Terri Schwartz Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” The end of the “Harry Potter” franchise comes to one kind of end on July 15, but it all ended in a different way on Sunday night (June 5), when an exclusive clip from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” that aired during the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . Part of the seen should already be familiar since it appears in the first “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” full-length trailer that came out last year: Harry Potter walks through the Forbidden Forest to be killed by Voldemort. “The boy who lives,” He Who Must Not Be Named says, “come to die.” But that was merely a tease for the full clip that fans saw during the Movie Awards, where “Part 1” was up for six Golden Popcorns. Voldemort’s head turns as the scene reveals that Harry is walking toward him. Hagrid, in chains being held by Voldemort’s Death Eaters, yells out for Harry to stop, but it is too late. After He Who Must Not Be Names says that familiar line, “The boy who lives … come to die,” he casts the most unforgivable spell in the wizarding world, Avada Kedavra, at Harry. Arguably the coolest part of the clip comes at its end, when a long shot of the confrontation shows the killing curse coming out from Voldemort’s wand and hitting Harry square in the chest. The clip ends there, and then transitions into another one of the most-anticipated scenes in the film (don’t worry “Potter” newbies, we won’t spoil it). For fans, it was a welcome surprise to see Hagrid, who has been notably absent from the previously released “Potter” trailers and TV spots, as will as to see the first of the movie’s many showdowns between villain and hero. There’s plenty of excitement to look forward to once “Deathly Hallows: Part 2” hits theaters July 15, from Harry, Ron and Hermione’s break-in at Gringotts to the showdown in the Room of Requirement to the reveal of Snape’s big secret. But at the center of this story is the conflict between Voldemort and Harry. It’s fitting that the last exclusive “Potter” clip that will ever be aired at the MTV Movie Awards highlights that relationship and everything that comes along with it. ‘Twilight’ bloggers react to the teaser’s wedding and honeymoon scenes; now you go! By Jocelyn Vena Robert Pattinson in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” Photo: Summit Go bananas, “Twilight” fans. The trailer you have been waiting for has arrived! On Sunday night (June 5) at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards, the trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” finally premiered. Before the promo’s debut, it had been all about teaser photos and bits of information from interviews with cast members, but now we’ve gotten our first glimpse at footage from the Bill Condon-directed film, which will hit screens in November. The trailer certainly has everything Twi-Hards have been waiting for: a wedding, a honeymoon, a baby bump, as well as, yes, a shirtless Taylor Lautner. After getting a sneak peek, a number of “Twilight” experts and bloggers contributors already have taken to the Web to share their opinions about the trailer. “I am blown away. I can’t believe they showed as much as they did,” Kara Hassell of TwilightersAnonymous.com said enthusiastically. “I’m so excited. I didn’t think they would hit as many points as they did. I am very pleased with Bill Condon and how he treated it.” “Completely amazing, completely mind-blowing. Up until this my favorite trailer was the ‘New Moon’ trailer, and Bill Condon definitely got Chris Weitz; it’s got everything in it that you need,” gushed Laura Byrne-Cristiano, who owns TwilightLexicon.com . “Well, wow! That’s pretty steamy for a PG-13 movie,” she continued. “The thing that made me laugh in a good way right away was Rob Pattinson, gripping that headboard and hearing that crack noise is spectacular.” Kallie Matthews from TwilightSeriesTheories.com said, “The trailer was fantastic. It had way more than I thought it would but it still just wasn’t quite enough. … I was so excited that they had Bella pregnant. The fans are excited about that and we got to see it. Co-presenter RPattz gets carried away with an ‘ad lib’ at Movie Awards. By Aly Semigran Reese Witherspoon accepts her Generation Award at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Getty Images Reese Witherspoon was on hand at this year’s MTV Movie Awards to accept the Generation Award for her work in genre-spanning box-office hits like “Election,” “Legally Blonde,” “Cruel Intentions,” “Pleasantville” and “Walk the Line,” which earned her a Best Actress Oscar. But what Witherspoon — and the audience, for that matter — probably wasn’t expecting was some surprisingly salty banter from the co-stars who presented her with the award. Patrick Dempsey, Robert Pattinson and Chelsea Handler took the stage to praise Witherspoon’s illustrious career, with Dempsey, who co-starred with Reese in the 2002 romantic comedy “Sweet Home Alabama,” describing the actress as “beautiful and multitalented.” The actor ran down her long list of accomplishments, both onscreen and off, concluding his portion with a mention of Witherspoon’s charitable work with the Avon Foundation. Up next was a stunned Pattinson, who asked aloud, “I’m supposed to talk about the Avon thing?!” The “Twilight” hunk — he and Kristen Stewart had won Best Kiss just moments earlier — quickly tried to recover, calling Witherspoon a “great person” and pulling a piece of paper with some notes on it from his pocket. Still obviously nervous, RPattz told the crowd that he had been instructed by the teleprompter to “ad lib” his dedication. “This is the worst,” Handler quipped about Pattinson’s hilariously shaky start. Pattinson finally got his bearings and addressed Witherspoon, who was seated in the audience. The 24-year-old star reminded the actress that she played his mother in the 2004 drama “Vanity Fair” but his portion of the film was cut out, joking that it was at Witherspoon’s suggestion. However, in their most recent venture, “Water for Elephants,” Pattinson noted that Witherspoon “played my lover.” And then (in what’s bound to go down in MTV Movie Awards, missed-the-bleep-button history) Pattinson blurted, “But I did f— you.” His F-bomb went live and uncensored. But he wasn’t done yet. The actor went on to suggest that Witherspoon had trouble speaking while in a girdle, has a penchant for tequila and that she may or may not be “33 percent lesbian,” as an embarrassed Witherspoon hid her face and laughed from her seat. Pattinson concluded his remarks by saying, “It’s not always a bad thing to have sexual chemistry with your mother,” once again referencing his unseen part in “Vanity Fair.” “What a tough act to follow,” the host of E!’s “Chelsea Lately” deadpanned. The late-night funny lady opened by complimenting Witherspoon, a mother of two, saying she “still has a smaller ass than Justin Bieber. It’s OK, we’re friends,” Handler assured the vocal crowd. The comedian also shared that her pal actually has a naughty side — as seen in the infamous roller-coaster moment with Mark Wahlberg in the thriller “Fear” — before Witherspoon finally took the stage to accept her award. A beaming Witherspoon, who took the roast from “the three most ridiculous people in the world” like a champ, quickly fired back. She told her “Water for Elephants” flame that he actually botched his joke and should have declared himself the “best mother—-er in Hollywood.” Witherspoon’s zinger had Pattinson and the MTV audience cracking up. The Hollywood star’s acceptance speech included some great one-liners, but she also countered Handler’s suggestion that she’s a “dirty birdie” deep down. Rather, Witherspoon said she hopes aspiring actresses will look to her for inspiration instead of seeking fame by way of a reality show. The 35-year-old let loose about reality starlets and actresses who’ve exposed themselves for fame. “I just want to say to all the girls out there, I know it’s cool to be bad. I get it … but it’s also possible to make it in Hollywood without a reality show,” Witherspoon said to a cheering audience. She continued, “When I came up in this business, if you made a sex tape, you were embarrassed, you hid it under your bed … and, like, if you took naked pictures of yourself on your cell phone, you hide your face, people!” In closing, the actress thanked MTV for years of support and all of the fans who had made it possible for her to live out her life-long dream. There’s nothing like an entire sea of sartorial goodies from an awards show to get the MTV Style squad good and excited, and Sunday’s (June 5) 2011 MTV Movie Awards red carpet was nothing short of bananas! Sharing the podium with none other than our Christian Siriano — and his darling boyfriend, jewelry designer/photographer Brad Walsh (who, by the way, was wearing the same grey, black grosgrain-accented suit as a baby cub member of the “Twilight” wolf pack) — we witnessed an awesome style potpourri. White was a huge trend for the night, and “The Last Exorcism” actress Ashley Bell sidled up in a gorgeous embroidered, knee-length dress cut demurely at the knee with the loveliest sweetheart neckline. Selena Gomez also wore a two-piece Giambattista Valli with a printed ivory top and a beige ruched miniskirt. “Gossip Girl” and “Monte Carlo” co-star Katie Cassidy wore a gorgeous floor-length ivory crocheted dress. Pssst! Floor-length was a huge hit for the night. Generation Award winner Reese Witherspoon, “Transformers” star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Snow White-to-be Lily Collins were all visions of ferocious awesomeness in animal print (leopard, tiger and leopard again, respectively), but the breakout aesthetic that dominated the red carpet was massive sequins, angular shards of jewels and beading galore. , Lil Mama (in Sherri Hill) and “Gossip Girl” and “Monte Carlo” co-star Leighton Meester all wore the sparkly stuff, but the curveball of the night had to be “True Grit” breakout actress Hailee Steinfeld not wearing Miu Miu (the brand for which she’s a spokesperson), instead sporting a wholly refreshing Louis Vuitton black, sequined lapel tuxedo! We just about dropped dead from the rampant elegance. Elle Fanning also threw us for a loop in a summery, saturated-hue pink romper with matching floral-printed wedge heels, both Dolce & Gabbana and marvelously age-appropriate. And though Kristen Stewart would typically, tidily slot nicely into the segment about beading, , while it did feature the glitz factor in scads, needed to be pulled out for a round of 360 mega-props. All that glittered was not gold, but row upon row of safety pins that gleamed menacingly and gorgeously. Not unlike a certain vampire’s twinkling nude torso in sunlight, no? This is the skin of a killer! Speaking of hot dudes, motorcycle jackets reined supreme on the red carpet as did dark jeans. Peter Facinelli (a.k.a. Carlisle Cullen. Team Edward forever! Also, let’s face it, Team Jacob, too) wore a moto, as did Jason Bateman and Taylor Lautner in head-to-toe D&G. Spider-Man-to-be Andrew Garfield, Kellan Lutz and Robert Pattinson all wore dark denim. For the past two years, the “Twilight” stars have teased Movie Awards audiences with almost-kisses as they accepted their award. So on Sunday night (June 4), when presenters Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds announced that RPattz and KStew had won for their smooch in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” it seemed this year’s show would finally bring the big moment fans have been waiting for. Well, er, it wasn’t. “I feel bad because I don’t feel like kissing you,” Pattinson apologized to Stewart onstage. “You don’t want to kiss me, do you?” Stewart, though, seemed more willing. “Well, it’s been a long time and I think maybe we should finally go for it,” she said to cheers from the crowd. But Pattinson still wasn’t having it. “I just think there’s someone else in the audience who I think will appreciate it a little more,” he said. Cue the camera cutting to a stone-faced Taylor Lautner. “Go get him,” Stewart encouraged. Pattinson then took to the Gibson Amphitheatre floor running. As the audience screamed in excitement, he leaned over and gave Lautner a full-on smooch on the lips as his werewolf co-star wrapped an arm around him. Of course, Lautner also wiped his mouth immediately after (too much tongue?), but Pattinson wasn’t done. Soon he was right back onstage going after Stewart — for real. She squealed, “No!” and ran away laughing. “What? I want to take you back stage!” Pattinson said with a flirty grin. And the pair made their dramatic and hilarious exit … but still no kiss.
