Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s Son: Why Won’t He Receive a Royal Title?

It’s been less than a week since Meghan Markle welcomed her first child , but already, little Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor has stirred up a controversy as big as his nine-syllable name. First, there’s the name itself, which many are interpreting as Meghan and Harry’s way of giving the middle finger to their British haters . And then there’s the fact that a crucial honorific seems to be missing from the little bloke’s lengthy moniker. Yes, as you may have noticed, there’s no “prince” in front of little Archie’s name. If, like us, you’re some sort of ignorant American rube, you may have assumed that such titles are simply a matter of heredity — Harry was a prince, so it stands to reason that his son would be as well. But it turns out there are no hard-and-fast rules for this sort of thing. There are several reasons why Lil Arch might be forced to go through life with a regular-ass peasant name, and even though we may never know the truth, pundits peddling their wares in the age of hot takes are very pissed off about two of the possibilities. For starters, it’s possible that the Queen denied Archie a title due to his American parentage. Of course, even the people who proposed that possibility have mostly acknowledged that it would be wildly out of character for QE2. Which is perhaps how we wound up with the theory that it’s all Prince William’s doing. As you’re probably aware, Will has become the resident villain of Kensington Palace in recent weeks, thanks largely to rumors of his affair with Rose Hanbury . As a result, some folks are under the impression that Will appealed to his grandmother to deny Archie a title on the grounds that he’s seventh in line for the throne, and will, therefore, spend his life as a “minor royal,” on par with Prince Andrew’s kids. It would be the latest volley in the supposedly ongoing feud between William and Harry — but it would also be pretty damn implausible. But those theorists are on to something in one sense: Archie will be a minor royal, which is why the most likely theory holds that Meghan and Harry decided their child should not have a royal title. “The fact that they have chosen not to use a title suggests they want this baby to have a relatively ordinary life,” royal historian Professor Kate Williams tells Vanity Fair.  “When Archie is older he will likely have to go out and get a job. “He will be a minor royal and will have to be prepared for a life of work. If the Commonwealth becomes a smaller entity, there will be less work for the royals overseas.” But that’s not to say that Archie will be anything less than an essential and widely beloved member of the royal family in his adult years: “He is the Queen’s first biracial grandchild,” says Professor Williams. “This is a historically important baby. He affects a multicultural bridge.” This may not be exactly how a famed royal historian would put it, but that trumps the hell out of any lame-ass title. Royal Baby Name: A Giant EFF YOU to Great Britain?

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The stunning Royal Baby name announced this week by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has led to a number of enjoyable memes and quips. To wit:  Will the second kid be named Jughead?!? But this unexpected selection has also led to a few serious questions about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their intentions with the moniker, most notably among them: Was this just an enormous F-CK YOU to all of Great Britain? For whatever it’s worth, Archie was not among the bookmakers’ favorites, as Alexander, Arthur and Albert were the first names on which most gamblers placed their money over the final few days. Archie, which translates to “genuine”, “bold” or “brave” has no real known Royal Connotations. Harrison, meanwhile, is clearly based on the Prince’s first name — but it’s a brand new one for the Royal Family, which has spanned multiple centuries. Might Markle and Prince Harry just have been feeling a tad adventurous? Might they have wanted to harmessly buck tradition and start their child off on somewhat of a fresh foot, given all the pressure he’ll be facing over the next several decades? Sure, absolutely. But there’s also a reason to believe that Markle and Harry went out of their way to stick it to the latter’s home country a bit here. Why? Just consider the non-stop wave of criticism that has been leveled at Meghan ever since she got into Harry’s britches. There has been an endless array of articles written about Markle and her supposedly demanding ways, with each Royal Employee Resignation treated as if the former actress is more selfish and entitled than Teresa Giudice. There was even speculation that Kate Middleton doesn’t like her fellow Duchess because Markle is too American , whatever the heck that means. So would it really come as a surprise if Harry and his polarizing wife purposely chose a name that is more closely associated with American than England for their firstborn? It would be a nice and subtle jab at all those British critics, none of whom can really come out and attack an innocent, defenseless child over his first name… … yet all of whom were receive the message loud and clear. Markle and Harry may be so fed up with life in Great Britain that they’re considering a move to Africa . They’ve already moved to someplace called Frogmore Cottage in order to distance themselves from the chaos of life in London, yet they may soon relocate to an entirely different continent. Such is their apparent contempt for the reception they’ve received as a couple at home. Heck, even the debut of little Archie was met with vitriol by some in the media . Do these journalists know no shame?!? View Slideshow: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: Royal Baby Photos are HERE! Prince Harry Admits to Missing Late Mother While Celebrating Royal Birth

Fans of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are still getting over the joyful announcement of the royal baby name . But Harry is back to work, and holding earnest conversations with people even as he beams with pride as a new father. The prince has also spoken of how he misses his mother, the late great Princess Diana. A veteran by the name of Dennis van der Stroon spoke to Prince Harry on Thursday during the new father’s trip to the Netherlands. Van der Stroon then spoke to Hello! about the exchange, in which they reflected upon both fatherhood and loss. “Harry talked about how having a small child was his new focus and new goal,” van der Stroon reveals. He recalls: “and I told him how a couple of months ago, I was struggling with my mental health.” “But,” van der Stroon told the prince. “My wife’s pregnancy has given me a goal.” Like Prince Harry, van der Stroon lost his mother when he was young and is also about to become a father. “Above all,” he comments. “He said he was just amazed by the miracles in the world.” It sounds like he’s very pumped up by being a new father. And he knows that he’s not the only one. van der Stroon adds: “and how his child has made a lot of people happy.” That is certainly true. “He also told me he’s really happy that his son is so far very quiet,” van der Stroon shares. Hey, that’s something that we didn’t know about baby Archie. “But,” he continues. “He also told me not to make too many plans.” Ban der Stroon explains: “and that there’s no way you can plan for when the baby arrives.” That is absolutely true. “I told Harry about my mother,” van der Stroon shares, noting that they could relate to each other. It has been more than 20 years since Princess Diana’s tragic death. “And,” he reveals. “We talked about our shared experience of missing a mum.” That is heartbreaking for both of them. “He said missing a mother is like missing some kind of security,” van der Stroon expresses. Van der Stroon says that Harry spoke of “how you need that [security] as a son and it falls away when you lose your mother.” He and his brother were then under a spotlight as never before while they mourned, which only compounded the trauma. “He said he meets a lot of people in his work who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother, or relatives,” van der Stroon shares. Prince Harry is known for his charity work, following in his late mother’s footsteps. “And when he hears their story, as he heard my story,” van der Stroon concludes. “He said he doesn’t feel so alone.” Harry and Meghan shared their happy news earlier this week. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor,” they shared on Instagram. “This afternoon,” the statement read. “Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle.” “The Duke of Edinburgh and the duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion,” the post added. As Harry told van der Stroon, the birth of baby Archie has brought joy to a lot of people who feel invested in Harry and Meghan. Samantha Markle Responds to Royal Baby… By Saying More Mean Things

So much for a baby bringing people together. Even a very famous baby with a very cute name and a couple of loving parents. Just a few days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced the birth of their first child, the latter’s cruel half-sister has broken her silence about the blessed development. And if you think Samantha Markle used the occasion to say kind words about Meghan and/or to mend the rift that Samantha is entirely responsible for, well… … you must also think Prince William has remained loyal to Kate Middleton throughout their marriage. “I love it,” Samantha told DailyMailTV late Wednesday when asked about Meghan having a son, adding: “Family is family. What I think is incredible is that it’s a great moment historically and although the adults have a lot of water under the bridge, I would really like to see everyone reach out. “We’ve extended the olive branch and now it is Meghan’s turn.” Yup, there it is again. There is Samantha once more placing blame for her failed relationship with Meghan directly on the lovely shoulders of the Duchess. For those unaware, Samantha and Meghan share the same father — and almost literally nothing else. Samantha is 17 years old than Meghan and the two did NOT grow up in the same household. They’ve scarcely been in touch over the years, yet Samantha has taken every opportunity possible ever since Meghan started dating Harry to trash the former actress, claiming she’s phony and fake and unappreciative of her family. Meghan has somehow managed to take the high ground and never respond in public. “We’re all welcoming the baby – Markles, Raglands, Sussexes, Windsors,” continued Samantha in this interview. “In terms of the gene pool, we’ve all made a contribution to this wonderful little boy who will probably grow up to be an exceptional man and we’d like to treat this as if we’re all a big family. “It would be nice not to react to what we’ve heard in the news but to personally meet him and let him judge us for himself.” Samantha is likely speaking here for her dad as well, who chose not to attend the Royal Wedding last May and who issued his own weird statement in light of the Royal Baby’s birth this week. Markle and Harry posed with their precious newborn yesterday, announcing his name a few hours later. It is  Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor and we actually think it’s rather adorable. “It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I’m really happy,” Meghan told the media on Wednesday, saying of her little one: “He has the sweetest temperament. He’s really calm.” And Samantha did conclude her statement with a few nice words at least. While also claiming that she was speaking for an entire nation. “I want [Archie] to know he’s got a big family and he’s part of an amazing historical time and we’re excited for him,” she said. “We’re excited for Meg and Harry – I am really excited for her. I love her, she’s my baby sister and it doesn’t matter what we’ve all said back and forth but she’s got to do the right thing. “I just want to say Meg, you’ve got a world here and family here [in the U.S.] that’s excited for you.” In the end, however, the woman who is exploiting this entire situation to write a memoir and gain publicity simply could not help but continue to hammer Markle for allegedly turning her back on her loved ones. That’s just how Samantha Markle rolls. View Slideshow: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry: Royal Baby Photos are HERE! This was how she wrapped up the interview, referencing Thomas Markle and making a very selfish, narrow-minded and biased plea: “I want Meg to be part of his life, I want Meg to be able to share this beautiful time with him in whatever way she can. “I think it’s important for her too. I hope something sticks with her – that she decided to do the right thing for my dad. Life is short and we’re family. “I hope she decides to do the right thing this time.”

Grown Man Emotions: Anthony Mackie Reveals He Cried With Chris Evans After Learning About THAT ‘Endgame’ Scene [Video]

Source: Rich Polk / Getty Anthony Mackie Says He And Chris Evans Cried Over Avengers Ending *SPOILER ALERT for anyone who hasn’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet–stop reading immediately* One of the biggest moments of Avengers: Endgame  happened at the very end, when we learn about Steve Rogers’ fate–which concludes with him handing off his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. Even though Wilson eventually becomes Captain America in the comic books, Mackie says that he still didn’t expect the transition to happen on-screen–he wasn’t even aware of his own future until his co-star Chris Evans informed him. “We were at his house and he goes, ‘You excited?’ And I go, ‘What you talking about? And he goes, ‘You don’t know?’ He jumps up, runs out of the room and comes back in with the script. He’s like, ‘Read it!’” Mackie continued, “And I read the scene, and I’m like, ‘Whoa,’…We cried. We drank. We laughed. I am very happy I got that moment with Chris, for him to not only pass me the shield, but to tell me it was happening.” Hear the full story and more from Anthony Mackie below:

All-White: Virgil Abloh Responds To Accusations That His Off-White Staff Lacks Diversity

Source: Bertrand Rindoff Petroff / Getty Virgil Abloh Blasted Online For Lack Of Diversity On Staff Virgil Abloh’s brand Off-White staff has been criticized for having a staff that’s way too white. Not gonna lie I thought @virgilabloh would have some black people working with him but I’m not surprised pic.twitter.com/TLqb0CEbLb — lil shorty bulgogi (@wsupden) April 30, 2019 He received a ton of backlash this week after he posted photos from a recent Off-White event he attended with his employees. The pictures posted included some shots of the brand’s graphic team and art director and Abloh’s followers were quick to point out the lack of diversity among the staff, which led to people accusing him of not supporting other black creatives. Upset about being called out, Virgil responded to the criticism on Friday afternoon, posting photos of all the POC creatives he has worked with. The list features Kid Cudi, Playboi Carti, Serena Williams, Heron Preston, Tremaine Emory, Andre Walker, and Fabien Montique. After posting some other responses to the criticism, Abloh concluded his series of Instagram stories with these words: “Follow my whole design team. Support their creative ideas. Buy their clothes. Attend their events. Like their photos. Be global. Travel. Eat different food. Listen to techno. Walk don’t Uber. Love your neighbor.” Soon after responding on his own social media pages, Virgil also provided a statement to Hypebeast about the rumors spreading online. He said: “My design team is diverse as the world is big. The video shown was an Off-White dinner at the headquarters in the city of Milan, Italy. This party was to celebrate the hard work of the local Italian team.” Off-White also sent out a statement on the matter, which you can read below: “When questioned about diversity, Virgil Abloh takes pride in being African and American. His design team is diverse, and his practice has been built on making the art and design industry an inclusive community. Fellow designers like Samuel Ross, Heron Preston, No Vacancy Inn – by Tremaine Emory and Acyde Odunlami, Everard Best, Photographer Fabien Montique, amongst many others have been given a platform via Off-White . These are just a few of the many global voices and people sitting at the table and helping evolve the brand. Off-White is a black founded and owned business.” “He wishes to use this moment of being questioned to be a moment of reflection within the industry to showcase the talents behind their design entities and push to have a design community that represents the outside world.”

Robert Kraft: Arrest Made In Connection With Prostitution Ring

A net worth of a billion dollars or more brings with it advantages that go well beyond yachts and private jets. For example, you can make just about anything that’s bothering you disappear — including an enemy or two if you’re smart about it! But as New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is currently learning the hard way, nothing hangs around quite like bad press. Even a 10-figure bank account can’t make a juicy scandal go away, particularly when it involves the head of a widely-despised sports franchise and a Florida massage parlor. As you’ve probably heard by now, Kraft was arrested  back in February for his connection to a Jupiter, FL prostitution ring. In the months since, Kraft has received some occasional good news. (He won’t be charged with human trafficking, for example.) But he’s received a whole lot more bad news. (Ever wanted to see video of Robert Kraft getting a hand job ? Because it looks like one is headed your way!) And this week is a particularly rough one for Kraft, as his “happy ending” kerfuffle is back in the headlines for two different reasons. For starters, the 77-year-old will be back in court on Friday, but this time, he’s the one who requested a hearing. Not surprisingly, Kraft wants to block the release of his handy home-movie. His lawyers argue that the footage would make it more difficult for Kraft to receive a fair trial — and honestly, they probably have a point. Plus, a 77-year-old getting cranked off while lying on a crusty massage table in South Florida? To quote the great philosopher Sweet Brown, ain’t nobody got time for that! And today, Kraft is back in the headlines unexpectedly, due to the arrest of Shen Mingbi one of his two, um … co-stars in the tape. According to TMZ, the video shows both Mingbi and a woman named Lei Wang and both are seen “using their hands on Kraft’s penis.” We’re a little disappointed TMZ passed up the opportunity for a solid Wang pun there, but maybe they figured the straight facts in this case are wild enough. Wang was arrested back in February but Mingbi was just taken into custody this week. She’s facing one count of deriving support from prostitution and eight counts of offer to commit prostitution. The phrase “deriving support” really reminds you that Wang and Mingbi probably had little choice in all this, and yet Kraft will certainly get a lighter sentence. What a country! What a Patriot! Is Perfectionism Toxic?

Here is the original post:

Source: DjelicS / Getty Growing up, we’re made to believe that perfectionism is something positive. We’re unconsciously taught that being first, never making a mistake, appearing flawless and constantly winning in every facet of life is what’ll get us the best job, the highest salary, a successful friend group, thousands of likes and followers on Instagram, the envy of our peers and the most perfect life ever. Sure, our teachers, parents and coaches probably told us “winning isn’t everything” to make us feel better after some devastating defeat we experienced in adolescence, but since then, literally everything in society seems to contradict their words, assuring us that there’s no way that statement can actually be true. Whether it’s in sports, politics or the work place; whoever the perfect team, candidate or employee is will be rewarded while the rest are left to sulk in their self-identified imperfections. It’s no surprise that seeing this happen repeatedly would lead us to believe that winning is everything, and being perfect is the only thing that opens the door to the success we so desperately seek. So, what exactly is perfectionism? Psychologists define this mindset as “an irrational desire to achieve along with being overly critical of oneself and others” and in our socially connected society, perfectionism has become more than just a mindset, it’s now a way of life. We’ve somehow allowed ourselves to believe that we are defined by what we are, or rather how “perfect” we are when in actuality, that dangerous thought process is holding us back more than it is propelling us forward. The problem with a mindset fixated on perfectionism is that… it simply doesn’t exist. Instead, perfectionism is the ultimate self-sabotage. It’s based on moving through life attempting to avoid mistakes, even when those mistakes are necessary to help us grow, learn, develop confidence and actually achieve the level of success we desire. If you struggle with perfectionism, you’re not alone. A 2017 study found that there has been a 33% rise in socially prescribed perfectionism since 1989, with this generation in particular struggling to keep up with a culture that makes us feel depressed if we’re not on track to becoming the next Kylie Jenner. However, with this rise of perfectionism comes a rise in productive ways to combat this mindset as the conversation around mental health has shifted from one that’s taboo to one that’s open, accepting and understanding. Yes, having ambition and determination to succeed is healthy. But the idea of perfectionism, the fear of making mistakes and listening to the inner voice that leads you to believe that you’re nothing unless you’re winning is what can lead to depression, anxiety and other mental health problems that take us down a path of constant self-criticism, fear and worry that we’re not measuring up to whatever society’s idea of perfect is. Psychologists suggest reversing this unhealthy idea of perfectionism with mental health exercises that’ll help you develop a more realistic view of yourself and your successes. Understand that being perfect isn’t what leads to social acceptance, but rather being your true, authentic and relatable self does. Mistakes are inevitable. They will happen. And the best thing you can do for yourself is to accept them, learn from them and move on to become the person you’re meant to be. To be clear, letting go of the idea of perfectionism doesn’t mean that you give up on your desire to do well. Instead, this means giving up on the inner voice that tells you that you cannot make a mistake, and if you do, you’ll lose everything. Learning to let go of the idea of perfectionism and replacing it with the mantra of “your best is good enough” might sound intimidating at first, but doing so will free your mind from bondage. Rather than letting social expectations tell you what perfection is, strive for a life defined by learning experiences, deep personal connections, and self-assurance that you are enough.
