David Guetta, deadmau5 Get EDM Some Grammy Shine

Skrillex, Avicii, Duck Sauce, Swedish House Mafia and Robyn also contenders for Best Dance Recording at Sunday’s show. By Adam Stewart David Guetta Photo: Larry Marano/ Getty Images Kudos to the Academy. They’ve pretty much nailed it when it comes to the Grammy nominees in what’s arguably the most-important dance-related category Sunday night: Best Dance Recording. In 2011, the U.S. EDM market saw an explosion the likes of which hadn’t seen since the punk rock revolution back in the ’90s, and those given the nod are a testament to its abounding success. A category once graced by Madonna, Britney and Gaga is now overrun by the Prince of Dubstep, a monstrous mouse, a turntable whiz and his NYC cohort, three rock stars of house, a Frenchman with a Swedish prodigy and a girl who originally showed us love in the ’90s. Each one of the nominees was not only at the helm for producing a killer track, but was at the forefront of a movement that is changing the tastes of the American mainstream and truly defining cool culture. In further recognition of EDM’s explosion, the Grammys have lined up an all-star crew for a dance-music performance Sunday night in a tent outside Staples Center. Chris Brown, the Foo Fighters and Lil Wayne will join EDM superstars deadmau5 and David Guetta for a genre-busting performance that will highlight dance/electronica music. This marks the first Grammy performance to shed light on the increasingly popular genre, which has recently seeped into every form of music. For anyone still getting their feet wet in the scene, fear not: We’ve broken down the Best Dance Recording noms, put together a little prediction of who will probably win, based on how these things have gone in the past, and who should win — as in, what might best be accepted and respected by the EDM masses. It could very well be a pivotal year for the Grammys — if they get it right. Best Dance Recording Nominees deadmau5 and Greta Svabo Bech, “Raise Your Weapon” : deadmau5 went dubstep with this little experiment, and it earned him high marks. The angelic vocals of Bech, juxtaposed with signature ruff and rugged dubstep riffs, this track catapulted itself into a monster. deamau5 again showcased his versatility while (for the most part) maintaining that signature deadmau5 sound, but was it original enough for what we usually expect from this seemingly unconquerable musical madman? Duck Sauce , “Barbra Streisand” : In 2009, iconic NYC house-music icon Armand Van Helden paired up with Canadian spin master A-Trak in a collaborative effort named after the most popular of all condiments in pan-Asian cuisine. Since then, they’ve become one of the most popular dance acts around, in large part due to this crossover smash that pays homage to one of America’s most beloved entertainers. The tune is decked out with a spirited house groove and a vocal hook that everyone knows the words to. You’d have to have lived on the moon to not have heard this one, and have no soul to do anything but love it. David Guetta and Avicii , “Sunshine” : True EDM fans can’t complain on this one. It’s progressive house at its finest. EDM loyalists all the world over were ecstatic to see Guetta distancing himself from the Peas and picking up on Avicii, who is simply one of the most insanely talented producers out there. Try listening to this tune and not smiling ear to ear. It combines Avicii’s signature piano riffs and progressive charm with Guetta’s thunderous big room house and ability to produce bangers at a moment’s notice. The production value of “Sunshine” is precise, clean and harmonious. If the Academy is properly tuned in, this thumper has a good chance of coming out the victor. Robyn , “Call Your Girlfriend” : Taking nothing away, this is a killer tune by one of the key players in the dance-music crossover. However, it was Kaskade’s remix (un-nominated) that truly resonated with the EDM masses. Regardless, the original was a monster in the mainstream, and the killer cut off the third installment of Body Talk has absolutely taken Robyn to new heights and solidified her place as one of the all-time dance-music greats. Skrillex , “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” : This track was Dubstep 101 to anyone who’d never heard the genre. Call it “brostep” if you will, but you can’t deny that it expanded the sonic pallet of anyone who dared to listen to it. Some would say EDM noobs as a whole probably think the track defines the movement as a whole, which is less than accurate. Never the less, Skrillex and “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” is a very fitting example of what helped push dance music into the spotlight in 2011. Don’t be surprised to see Skrillex walking away with the golden gramophone. Swedish House Mafia , “Save the World” : The year 2011 was perhaps an incubation period for the rock stars of house. Having released just a pair of tracks in the calendar year, the Swedes went a little more pop on this than they had in the past, but nevertheless, still gave their loyal following what they wanted with a killer hook and an impossible-not-to-sing-along vocal provided by fellow Swede John Martin. If videos were involved in the selection, this would certainly take the prize. Heroic puppies and house music? A match made in heaven. Who Should Win David Guetta and Avicii, “Sunshine” Who Probably Will Win Skrillex, “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Madonna’s ‘Luvin’ Not Meant To Be A Super Bowl Video

‘We were never asked to make something in relation to the Super Bowl,’ directors Megaforce exclusively tell MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Rob Markman Madonna in her “Give Me All Your Luvin’ ” music video Photo: Interscope Two days before Madonna took the stage for the Super Bowl halftime show, she dropped a video for her lead MDNA single “Give Me All Your Luvin’ ” that was chock-full of cheerleaders and football players. While it may seem awfully suspicious that Madge would tout football in a video released mere days before her halftime spectacle Sunday night, the clip’s duo of directors, the Megaforce , insist the similarly themed moments are purely coincidental. “I think the track has something to do with cheerleading. It’s pretty clear that the beginning is a kind of cheering [anthem],” the Megaforce’s Clement Gallet told MTV News about the song, which also features Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. “With this one, it felt like there was no point to bring it somewhere else [in terms of visuals] other than where it was. I don’t think our cheerleaders are really obvious.” In fact, the cheerleaders in the video look way different than the ones cheering at the Big Game. Led by Minaj and M.I.A., the cheer squad sports anime-like masks and even gets a bit cheekily violent when one bats the head off a football player near the end of the clip. While the Super Bowl plans had been in the air when Madge and the crew hit the New York set back in December, the video’s look was influenced more by the Martin Solveig track than anything else, the director say. “We were aware that this video, this track was supposed to be aired during the Super Bowl, but we never felt or we were never even asked to make something in relation to the Super Bowl,” Gallet explained. “And I think it’s just — it’s not a coincidence, we had the Super Bowl in mind — but we are not doing a video about Super Bowl.” Did Madonna’s new video put you in the mood for Sunday’s Super Bowl performance? Madonna’s "Give Me All Your Luvin’" Music Video Released: Watch, React Now!

How appropriate. After a sneak peek on American Idol last night, Super Bowl halftime act Madonna’s music video for “Give Me All Your Luvin'” has debuted, and it’s football-themed! The 53-year-old superstar is lifted up by football players, who even take bullets for the Material Girl, while M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj serve as her cheerleaders. The trio even pays homage to Marilyn Monroe, with curly blonde bobs, diamonds and white lacey dresses. Is the end result any good, though? You tell us. Madonna is expected to perform “Give Me All Your Luvin'” as part of her Super Bowl halftime performance Sunday in Indianapolis. Watch the video below! Madonna – Give Me All Your Luvin’ (Feat. M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj) What do you think of Madonna’s new video?

Madonna Goes Old-School In ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ ‘ Video

Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. don cheerleader uniforms in clip, which revisits Madge’s classics like ‘Material Girl’ and ‘Like a Virgin.’ By Jocelyn Vena Madonna in her “Give Me All Your Luvin” music video Photo: Interscope “Fans can make you famous, a contract can make you rich, the press can make you a superstar, but only luv can make you a player.” And with that message, Madonna ‘s funky, fun and surreal (and almost cartoony) “Give Me All Your Luvin’ ” video kicks off. Full of appearances from Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., masked cheerleaders, beefy football players and old-school Madonna references a-plenty, the Megaforce-directed clip is fun and light-hearted, much like the bouncy pop anthem itself. The clip opens with Nicki and M.I.A. done up in cheerleader costumes chanting Madge’s name. It then cuts to Madonna, clad in a trench coat and sunglasses, kicking down the door of her suburban home, pushing along a baby stroller. From there, the video takes many unusual turns: football players tackling street signs, Madonna abandoning her baby carriage to hang out with her cheerleader crew, shots of her done up in black lingerie and a giant cross (the first of many looks that reference the many looks Madonna has worn over the years) dancing in front of a brick wall. Sparks falls from the sky as she runs around the streets near her house, her football players protecting her with some giant umbrellas — creating an eye-catching visual. As she makes her way through town (which does little to not look like a movie set), they continue to be by her side and the video begins to play tricks on the viewers’ eyes. They help her walk across a world turned sideways. It appears that they may have taken cues from her “Material Girl” video. Madonna looks like she’s having an incredibly fun time throughout the visual — smiling and shimmying her way through this fictional, hyper-fantasy world. Watching the clip, one may wonder what doesn’t happen in the video. Madonna gets shot at with old-school guns (perhaps an homage to her “Dick Tracy” days)! She climbs up a giant pile of football players! She plays with a baby doll! (Yes, that happens!) As the song approaches its breakdown, Madonna fans everywhere will certainly begin to stand out hard. Carried by her football players into a new setup (some kind of club-like setting), Madonna becomes the “Like a Virgin” version of herself. Dressed in white lace, a curly bob and lots of diamonds, she clearly is paying homage to that infamous era. Her two rapper pals are also dressed in similar looks as they spit their rhymes over the Martin Solveig-produced track. There’s also a few other Madonna refs in there: In addition to rolling around on her little stage (you know like she did at the VMAs back in 1984 , there’s also two girls kissing (she’s also done that at the VMAs) and a bunch of Smirnoff vodka bottles (she recently partnered up with the alcohol brand). From there, Madonna stage-dives into layers upon layers of football players’ hands and, at the end of it, gets caught by two of the players. The always-fierce Queen of Pop wraps up the video with a dance routine with all the characters along the way. When one of her masked cheerleader bats the head off one of her football players, she catches the helmet and proudly displays it, surrounded by sparklers. The video ends with Madonna tossing her baby doll to the side as one final message flashes across the screen: “Touchdown!” “Give Me” is the lead single off her March album release, MDNA . 8 Foods To Put You In The Mood

Visit link:

If you want to put some sizzle back into your sex life, food can help you set the mood this Valentine’s Day. There’s nothing better than a romantic, home-cooked dinner, featuring some R-rated foods to help turn up the heat. “There’s a growing body of evidence that some of the vitamins and components in foods can enhance sexual function and sexual experience,” says Jennifer R. Berman, MD, director of the Berman Women’s Wellness Center in Beverly Hills, Calif. And if you’re sporting a little extra pudge, incorporating these in-the-mood-foods into a healthy, plant-based diet is one of the best ways to help you get back to your sexy self. If you’re overweight, research shows losing just 10% of your body weight can improve the quality of your sex life, explains Martin Binks, PhD, of the Duke University Diet and Fitness Center. “We find that among overweight women, they bring their negative self-talk and body image issues to the bedroom, and it negatively impacts their sexual well-being.” Here are some of the food ingredients (and my own favorite recipes) that have been major players in aphrodisiac history and lore– and also have modern-day science to help back up their claims. [From CNN Health ] Almonds Topping my of feisty foods, almonds have long been purported to increase passion, act as a sexual stimulant, and aid with fertility. Like asparagus (another one of my favorite sexy foods), almonds are nutrient-dense and rich in several trace minerals that are important for sexual health and reproduction, such as zinc, selenium, and vitamin E. “Zinc helps enhance libido and sexual desire,” says Dr. Berman. “We don’t really understand the mechanisms behind it, but we know it works.” Avocados The Aztecs referred to avocados as, ahem, testicles, because of their physical shape. But the scientific reason why avocados make sense as an aphrodisiac is that they are rich in unsaturated fats and low in saturated fat, making them good for your heart and your arteries. Anything that keeps the heart beating strong helps keep blood flowing to all the right places; in fact, men with underlying heart disease are twice as likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED). Strawberries The color red is known to help stoke the fire: A 2008 study found that men find women sexier if they’re wearing red, as opposed to “cool” colors such as blue or green. Strawberries are also an excellent source of folic acid, a B vitamin that helps ward off birth defects in women and, according to a University of California, Berkley study, may be tied to high sperm counts in men. This Valentine’s Day, try making dark chocolate-dipped strawberries. And while we’re on the subject, there’s a reason we give chocolate on Valentine’s Day: It’s full of libido-boosting methylzanthines. Seafood Despite their slippery and slimy texture, oysters may be the most well-known aphrodisiac. They’re also one of the best sources of libido-boosting zinc. But other types of seafood can also act as aphrodisiacs. Oily fish– like wild salmon and herring– contain omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for a healthy heart. Super Bowl Predictions From Cobra Starship

Since they’re playing a pre-Super Bowl bash, we had the Cobras give us their picks for the big game. For better or worse. By James Montgomery MTV News’ James Montgomery and Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta and Ryland Blackinton Photo: MTV News On the surface — or, really, any level — Cobra Starship don’t appear to be “sports guys” (and girl). Which is why it’s sort of strange to hear them discuss this Sunday’s Super Bowl XLVI … and even stranger to hear them say they’re heading to the host city (Indianapolis) to play the big game. “Yeah, I will be on the New England Patriots. It’s super-scary; I lost a bet and now I have to put on the gear and I’m going to get the sh– kicked out of me, and it’s not cool,” guitarist Ryland Blackinton deadpanned. “No, we’re playing a Super Bowl party the night before with LMFAO, Lupe Fiasco and Gym Class Heroes. It’s a real-deal party in the least partyful place in the world, next to Kenosha, Wisconsin.” No offense to the good people of Kenosha, of course. But, yes, Cobra Starship will join Lupe, LMFAO and Gym Class at Saturday night’s extravaganza. And since they’re officially taking part in the Super Bowl festivities, we had to ask them about their (apparent) love of football, which, not surprisingly, seems to be largely nonexistent. “We love the uniforms,” Blackinton explained. “And I like all the masculinity and high-production gloss of the Super Bowl stuff; the logos crashing together and lightning striking a helmet, and the one with the robot football players … it’s like that sh—y Hugh Jackman movie, ‘Real Steel.’ ” And, much like we did a few years back with die-hard Steelers fan/transplanted Arizona resident Bret Michaels in the lead-up to Super Bowl XLIII (which pitted the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals), we asked Blackinton and Cobra frontman Gabe Saporta to give us their predictions for Sunday’s game. And based on what they told us, let’s just say they’re probably not going to be as prescient as Michaels ended up being. “The Giants are going to win, 72-60,” Saporta said. “Seventy-two is a real good number.” “The Patriots will win 34-28,” Blackinton added. “But maybe that’s in overtime or whatever.” Leave your predictions for Super Bowl XLVI in the comments below! New ‘Hunger Games’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

MTV News takes a closer look at the latest sneak peek. By Kara Warner Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate Anytime we see anything new from “The Hunger Games,” it’s like Christmas came early around here. On Thursday (February 2), we were gifted with a brand-new teaser trailer for the film, which is set to air on Super Bowl Sunday. The one-minute spot features some familiar elements shown in the first full-length trailer , but there are also several juicy new items to look out for. Here are the five key scenes in the new “Hunger Games” teaser: Silver-Tongued Caesar Flickerman Finally, we’re starting to get sneak peeks at more key “Hunger Games” players. In this case, we get a good long look at (and listen to) Stanley Tucci as sweet-talking official “Games” interviewer Caesar Flickerman. Think of an over-caffeinated, duplicitous Matt Lauer, if you will. Flickerman’s job is to get the tributes to open up to him and “perform” for the Capitol audience. There is a perfect example in the teaser, as Tucci-as-Flickerman asks Katniss a loaded, personal question: “What did you say to your sister when you volunteered at the reaping?” “I told her I would try to win for her,” Katniss answers sincerely. “And try you will,” Flickerman adds with dramatic intonation in his voice, before bending down and kissing Katniss’ hand. Katniss Gives Prim The Mockingjay Pin For the book lovers out there, yes, this scene is different from how Suzanne Collins wrote it in the book, but it makes sense in the emotional context of the film. We see Katniss give her little sister a mockingjay pin and say, “As long as you have it, nothing bad will happen to you, I promise.” This is significant because the mockingjay is seen as a rebellious symbol to the Capitol. It should also be familiar to fans who’ve read the books, as the symbol graces the cover of “The Hunger Games.” Cinna’s Secret Gift This one relates to the opening scene of the teaser. Just before Katniss is sent up to the arena for the start of the Games, her intuitive stylist Cinna (Lenny Kravitz) pulls out the mockingjay pin that she gave her sister back in District 12 and pins it underneath Katniss’ jacket. It’s a powerful moment, in that it shows how in tune Cinna is with his tribute and that he believes in her strength, along with the fact that Prim somehow sent it along, because Katniss promised her that “nothing bad will happen” to her if she wears it. Katniss in Her Yellow Dress Again, this one is for our fellow readers of the book, but holy cow, they show Katniss in her yellow dress! It’s a very brief moment, but a loaded one. Without going into spoilers, because there are more than a few surrounding this particular look, the yellow dress Katniss wears is her most innocent-looking. Cinna designed it to showcase the softer side of the “girl on fire,” and the color was to be more like candlelight than flames. More President Snow And Effie Trinket We’ll take as many teases of the supporting players as possible, like the brief glimpse we get of Donald Sutherland’s likely first scene in the movie as President Snow. “Welcome! And Happy Hunger Games!” he says via a big-screen monitor transmitting the opening of the games from the Capitol. His voice has the perfect amount of gravitas and disturbing excitement for the upcoming bloodbath. And the puffiness of his white hair only adds to his menacing-but-stately look. Plus, we get a little more from uppity type-A escort Effie Trinkett, who eats up anything and everything official from the Capitol. “I just love that!” she says breathily after President Snow kicks off the reapings. Head to MTV’s NextMovie for a chance to win a “Hunger Games” prize pack, including two tickets to the premiere!
