Robert De Niro Goes Full Jimmy Conway On CNN, Says “F**K Em” While Firing Back At Critics

Read the original:

Source: Paul Bruinooge / Getty Robert De Niro didn’t bite his tongue during a live interview on CNN Sunday (Sept 29.). The Goodfellas actor drew inspiration from his character Jimmy Conway by dropping the f-bomb twice when clapping back at his critics. During his interview on the CNN show Reliable Sources with Brian Shelter, De Niro was asked how he felt about critics who don’t like his bashing of Trump . Not mincing words at all, the iconic actor let the world know how he really feels by replying  “F–k ‘em. F–k ‘em,” with no hesitation. A voice off-camera could be heard yelling “woahhhh,” De Niro quickly apologized, saying “Sorry, Sorry.” Stelter pointed out that they won’t be in any trouble because “This is cable, so it’s not an FCC violation, but it still is a Sunday morning.” De Niro also expressed that he felt the president is not capable of resigning even if he is wrong and described the orange menace as “crazy” and a “gangster.” When asked by Stelter if he meant in the medical sense, De Niro responded: “Possibly medically too. I didn’t think that before, but now I actually – when I saw him out in front of the helicopter waiting to go somewhere, talking endlessly and sweating and sweating … this guy, he’s not even aware of what he’s – he should at least ask somebody for a handkerchief or something and dry himself off.” “There’s just something very strange.”  When Stelter asked the Casino star if he felt Trump was acting, he responded: “In some ways, I think he is. As I think some of these pundits on Fox are too,” he volunteered. “Because I can’t believe they would actually buy into this craziness. This guy should not be president, period.” You can watch the amazing memeable moment below. ‘LHHHS6’ Recap: Let’s Talk About K. Michelle And The Inventors Of Country Music

Excerpt from:

Source: Prince Williams / Getty Tonight’s episode of Love and Hip-Hop Hollywood is rife with the typical drama. A1 discovers that Lyrica left him again, but denies hooking up with a girl he met on a plane. He also claims he doesn’t know where his son is because she won’t respond to his phone calls…as if he doesn’t have Lyrica’s mother’s info. Anyway, that is how the episode begins and Lyrica and A1’s drama will be what it  is until they decide to be adults and have a real productive conversation, but that doesn’t happen in this episode.  However, K. Michelle was the impetus for an interesting conversation about country music. It’s a conversation that has been reignited by Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road.” As we know, the Yee Haw Mafia were mad at the fact that “Old Town Road” was considered a country song and as a result, it was removed from Billboard’s country music charts. Then he got an assist from Billy Ray Cyrus, who is undeniably a country artist and who also happily joined Lil Nas X for the “Old Town Road Remix” so, bloop.  You can read about that saga here. Before “Old Town Road,” Beyonce faced backlash because she was scheduled to perform “Daddy Lessons” at the Country Music Awards. She still performed the song despite the Yee Haw Mafia being big mad, and she had help from the Dixie Chicks. The haters still hated, but let’s be real, this hate and this push back is because country music is stereotypically known as a White genre. The Yee Haw Mafia thinks it belongs to them but they’re sadly mistaken. Enter K. Michelle.  She was recently a guest on Jason Lee’s Hollywood Unlocked , and that incident where she was on stage somewhere in Nashville telling the audience that she can out-sing any White country singer came up again. She mentioned that she was triggered because that particular night was country music night at the venue, and when she tried to get up on stage and sing someone told her that it wasn’t her night. That was code for, “A Black girl couldn’t possibly be singing country music.” Now, K. Michelle is messy and loves attention, but hearing her explanation for why she said what she said actually makes sense. It was presumptuous for that person to say what they said. But guess what? K. Michelle is among the many Black people who are fans of  country music, even with the Whitewashing that has taken place. And I bet a lot of you didn’t know that there’s a huge country music scene in the Caribbean . I have been to a few karaoke nights in Barbados where country songs, sung by Black locals, reign supreme. All of my Bajan homies (I’m not Bajan but have visited the country enough to have friends there) mentioned that country music is big in the Caribbean, periodt. I have also seen this in St. Lucia, where my mother-in-law is from.   So, yes, Black people like country music. We created it. Yes. We created it. I don’t have much time to go into all of the details because it really is a long complex story, so I’m going to keep this as short as I can. Growing up, I grew up mostly listening to hip-hop, funk, jazz, and rock. When I got to college I began working as a broadcaster for my school’s radio station. They started all the newbies off with the blues because it was the least demanding shift. Part of my job was to announce songs and drop knowledge about the blues. That’s where I learned about how country music came to be. It stems from the blues, which stems from work songs sung by slaves.  Black people are some of the most creative people on the planet. For Black Americans, a lot of that creativity was born out of necessity. They had many coded ways to communicate with each other through the use of song and dance. They sang what were known as work songs as a way to pass the time and ease the pain of their awful predicament. They also used work songs to sneak diss the master. Seriously. They would be on the field singing about getting revenge on a lover but really, that “lover” was code for master. Blues is often about pain and what goes around comes around. Get it? What you do to me will come back around to you. It’s brilliant. You can learn more about this concept via the Netflix documentary, Devil at the Crossroads .  Anyway, work songs birthed the blues and the blues also spawned hip-hop, folk, jazz, and wait for it…country music. The banjo is a commonly used instrument in country music. It has been a commonly used instrument amongst slaves because it’s straight out of West Africa. The problem is, appropriation is wicked. In the early days, talented Black country music artists were shut out from getting major opportunities while White artists with more access began to discover the genre, copy Black pioneers, and blow up based on stolen work and privilege. Black artists also often didn’t really own their music because many of them signed with corrupt financiers and record labels who would sometimes give their music to White artists or wouldn’t even put them on their own covers. There are a lot of layers to what caused the shift in country music fandom, but it happened, and Black people moved on to other genres. Again, this isn’t to say that Black people stopped liking country music, but Black artists have been abused, blatantly copied, and shamelessly erased.  So, if we’re going to talk about the Yeehaw Mafia trying to tell Black artists what country music is and who country music belongs to then we need to tell it all because clearly, people don’t know their history…or pretend to not know it as a way to disassociate from the messed up things their ancestors may have done. Frankly, America can thank the slaves, who built this joint for free, for country music, if not most of its pop culture, including cowboy culture (because one in four cowboys were Black according to the Smithsonian ), especially when it comes to music and dance, and that’s that on that!  There were other moments throughout tonight’s Love and Hip-Hop where Apple Watts, K. Michelle and even Misterray touched out the fact that Black people invented country music. They weren’t that eloquent about it but we got the point. However, there’s only so much they could say in such a short amount of time. Missterray even stated that, “If we accept Micky Munday doing hip-hop then they should accept K. Michelle doing country.”  Eh…kind of, but again, it’s a lot more complicated than that. Plus, country music does belong to K. Michelle and any Black person who wants to claim it. It’s literally in our DNA. There’s one thing K. Michelle said in the episode that isn’t exactly true. She said that no Black woman has charted in country music. Valerie June is a contemporary country music artist who has charted and has a massive following. I tweeted about Valerie June and then got put on to Mickey Guyton , who I hadn’t previously heard of before. And then of course, there are  men, like Darius Rucker of Hootie and the Blowfish, and Ben Harper, who have been putting it down for several years. So, we are present and accounted for. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for enjoying country music and definitely don’t let anyone tell you that “Country music is for White people.” Cuz it ain’t. Tuh!  If you are interested in learning more about the history of country music and the shift that took it from Black to super White then check out this interesting NPR article . You can also learn more about work songs via this article by the library of congress.    And if you have beef with anything I wrote then take it up with history and yo’ mama. ‘The Color Purple’ Actress Sues Show After Being Fired For Old Homophobic Post

View post:

Source: Mondadori Portfolio / Getty Actress Oluwaseyi “Seyi” Omooba was cut from the U.K. production of The Color Purple because of past homophobic comments and now she’s clapping back with a lawsuit. According to Pink News , Omooba was supposed to play the lead role of Celie who, ironically, has a queer relationship in the story. Yet, Omooba still chose to be homophobic, building off a 2014 Facebook post where she cited religion for her beliefs. Hamilton star Aaron Lee Lambert pulled up the old post, which partly read: “I do not believe you can be born gay, and I do not believe homosexuality is right, though the laws of this land has made it legal doesn’t mean its [sic] right. I do believe that everyone sins and falls into temptation but its [sic] by the asking of forgiveness, repentance and the grace of God that we overcome and live how God ordained us too [sic].” In his tweet of the post, Lambert asked Omooba, “Do you still stand by this post? Or are you happy to remain a hypocrite? Seeing as you’ve now been announced to be playing an LGBTQ character, I think you owe your LGBTQ peers an explanation. Immediately.” Omooba was advised by Leicester’s Curve Theatre and her agency, Michael Garrett Associates, to retract her post and to apologize. However, she refused to do this, citing her Christian faith as an excuse. “ I really wanted the role but what they wanted me to do was completely against my faith. I did not want to lie just to keep a job,”  she told  The Daily Mail. “I just quoted what the Bible says about homosexuality, the need for repentance, but ultimately God’s love for all humanity.” Omooba insisted that she’s not homophobic. “I stand by what I wrote, but had I known that it would have come to this, I would have set my account to the privacy mode.” Riiiight. Like that would’ve helped. Since her statements were brought to light, she was let go from The Color Purple production, and she was dropped by her agents. Omooba says when she tried to reach out to agents who were once eager to sign her, only one responded, acknowledging that she was ‘talented but misguided’ and brainwashed by her religion. “I’m heartbroken,” Omooba said. “If I’m unable to get back to the stage, then I feel there is no point. It’s the only thing I have ever wanted since I was a young girl.” Omooba has now filed a lawsuit against Michael Garrett Associates for religious discrimination. The group hasn’t commented on Omooba’s lawsuit, but the Curve Theatre told The Daily Mail , “The comments made by Seyi have caused significant and widely expressed concerns both on social media and in the wider press. Following careful reflection, it has been decided Seyi will no longer be involved with the production.” Guess we’ll have to wait and find out if Omooba will have any weight in court. Until then, she might want to just get started on that church production of A Color Purple . Surely, it’ll be an entirely different musical with some of the most important themes lost.

Chicago Fire Creator Explains Stunning Season Premiere Death

WARNING! CHICAGO FIRE SPOILERS AHEAD! Stop reading right now if you have not yet watched Chicago Fire Season 8 Episode 1 — and if you have plans to do so.  Over the past 7 seasons, Chicago Fire has certainly included its fair share of heartbreaking storylines and near-death experiences. However, this intense and shocking season premiere took things to an entirely new level, basically eliminating the whole near -death part of the experience. The episode picked up mere seconds after season 7 cut to black, with the basement fire threatening everyone’s lives. While everyone seemed to be accounted for, Joe Cruz heard the distress signal alarm going off, which informed the group that a firefighter was not breathing. GULP .  It was at this point that he found Otis… badly burnt and unconscious. But no way would the series kill him off, right? Sorry, folks: Wrong. Once everyone arrived to the hospital, while Otis was still breathing, the group was informed he wouldn’t make it. Otis is dead, you guys. Before taking his final breath, Otis turned to Cruz in the hospital and said a Russian phrase. It translated to: “Brother, I will be with you, always.” Cue ALL the tears. Watch Chicago Fire Season 8 Episode 1 Online Following the episode, co-creator Derek Haas spoke to Us Weekly and answered spoke about the details and the basis behind this stunning passing. WHY DID THE SHOW DECIDE TO KILL OFF OTIS? We’ve had characters injured and characters leave the show, but if you keep pulling that football then the audience just stops believing that the dangerous situations are actually dangerous. So we decided we should do it. We should make this one really have consequences that set up the new season and have characters having to now deal with the death of a colleague in their own ways. HOW WILL CRUZ MOVE FORWARD FROM HERE? It’s gonna be a rough road. He’s gonna deal with it, honestly, in a cycle of emotions, in a cycle of different ways and it’s gonna last a while. I do think there are good days and there are bad days for everyone. I know when my father-in-law died, who I was really close with, I called it “Catching a wave.” Every now and then you just get this wave that would hit you in the least expected moment. So I think we’re gonna see those kind of things and not just with Cruz, with other characters too. ON A SEPARATE NOTE, WHERE ARE THINGS GOING BETWEEN SEVERIDE AND KIDD? I think he’s gonna try to live up to the words that he said to her in the finale, just to be the boyfriend, the man that she deserves. There’s gonna be pressures on them, but it’s not pressures on their relationship as much as external pressures on them as people. What’s interesting about it is the way that they support each other. Chicago Fire airs NBC Wednesdays at 9/8c. What did YOU think of this death? Did you see it coming?!?

Blake Horstmann: I Got DEATH THREATS for Posting Caelynn’s Texts!

Blake Horstmann went from Paradise to hot water this summer when he published Caelynn Miller-Keyes’ lewd texts for all to see. The Bachelor Nation was understandably disturbed this this breach of privacy, but some took it too far. Blake’s family was bombarded with furious messages from strangers. And Blake himself received death threats. Blake Horstmann was a guest on Bachelor Happy Hour with Rachel & Ali to discuss the fallout form his choices. Speaking on the podcast, he related how intense the backlash got after he exposed Caelynn’s private text messages. “My family started getting DMs … and when your family comes in [the picture], it changed everything for me,” Blake expresses. “I was just like, ‘Yes, this is hard,'” he admits. “Lots of death threats,” Blake recalls. “My grandma started getting DM’s at one point.” Caelynn Miller-Keyes revealed on Bachelor in Paradise that Blake had hooked up with her — but not only her. She was not the only member of the Bachelor Fam whom he boffed. When he seemed to almost ignore her in Paradise, she did not take it well and explained exactly why. Blake retaliated as the episodes aired by exposing their private text messages on social media. He felt that they told his side of the story — that yes, he boned Kristina Schulman and Caelynn on back-to-back nights at the same festival. But he says that he didn’t just smash and run, and he felt that Caelynn had implied that he’d ghosted her after poundtown. “That night,” Blake relates. “When I released those text messages I was breathing into a paper bag.” “It was incredibly difficult for me,” he admits. “A decision like that,” he says. “You do reach out for advice and especially advice from people who have been in situations like me in Bachelor Nation.” “A lot of people,” Blake shares. “They didn’t even really say, ‘No, don’t do it.’ They were like ‘If you do it, know what the consequences are.'” “I did reach out and there were a few that were like ‘The things she’s saying, you have to do it. I don’t see any other choice,'” he claims. “When people say it was premeditated or whatever,” Blake says. “it was such a hard decision for me.” “I felt like that was the only thing I could do to get my truth out there,” Blake insists. He adds: “because I didn’t know a lot of things she was saying when I was down there.” “Had I known that she said I was silencing her and all of these things,” Blake says. “I would have addressed it on the beach with her.” “But I had no idea she was saying those things,” he repeats. Blake concludes: “And, so when I watched it, I was shook.” Shooketh though he may have been, releasing somebody else’s texts was the wrong call. Caelynn was discussing how she felt after their hookup and then non-reunion in Paradise.  His texts didn’t prove anything except that he’s the kind of guy who releases text messages to the public from his sexual partner. However, the death threats? That is never okay. Texting his family? Majorly creepy and horrific. View Slideshow: The Bachelor Season 24: Meet the Women! Already!

Screenwriter Files Lawsuit Over Taraji P. Henson’s ‘What Men Want’ Film Idea

Source: WENN.com / WENN A screenwriter has filed a lawsuit against a number of entities over claims that the idea for What Men Want starring Taraji P. Henson was stolen from him. The screenwriter named Paramount Pictures, film producer Will Packer and BET in the suit. The Blast reports : He accuses the defendants of infringing on his copyright with their film “What Men Want”, which starred Henson. Carlini claims, “In 2014, Plaintiff began writing an original screenplay for a feature- length film along with David Collins (“Collins”), which had as its central plot point a woman obtaining the ability to hear men’s thoughts. By 2015, Plaintiff and Collins had written a complete draft of the screenplay, titled What The F Is He Thinking?” He continues, “Starting in 2015, Plaintiff and Collins began shopping What The F Is He Thinking? to various production companies, studios, financers and actors. Broadly construed, “shopping” involves the process of circulating and/or pitching a project to various production companies, studios and film financers for the purpose of securing production, financing, and/or distribution of the project. Efforts are also undertaken during the shopping process to attach key talent and/or a director to the project.” He adds, “During the shopping process, Plaintiff and Collins met with representatives of the following production companies and/or studios: Weinstein Company (now Lantern Entertainment), Montage Films, and Bloom. Plaintiff also spoke with potential talent, such as James Franco, Chris Pratt, King Bach, and Nick Swardson. The last meeting Plaintiff had with a studio representative was in July 2017, when he met with a representative from Bloom. At this meeting, Plaintiff provided the screenplay and business plan for What The F Is He Thinking? to the representatives. This was done in furtherance of facilitating a potential business relationship.” Joe Carlini says that although his pitch wasn’t picked up, the defendants named in the suit took his idea and presented to Henson and the producers. He is seeking unspecified damages. — Photo: WENN

‘Empire’ Recap: Bob Marley Did Not Die For Lucious’ Dreadlock Wig

Read the original post:

Source: Fox / Fox Empire returned last night for its sixth and final season. We left off last season with Lucious on the run from the law and apparently because Lee Daniels is dramatic, Lucious didn’t have access to clippers despite the fact that he was shacked up with Damon Cross’ daughter. Oh yes! It’s a lot. Let’s break this down because as usual, there’s a lot going on. Cookie left Lucious, and she has been living her life. She’s on a View -style talk show and living out her dreams beyond Empire. Andre is at the helm of Empire and he is also expecting a baby with his new girlfriend. But it’s not all roses, remember he still has to keep his heart healthy and make sure that his cancer doesn’t come back. That brings us to the moment Cookie and Lucious came face to face for the first time in several months. Lucious managed to sneak into the hospital while Cookie and Andre were waiting for Andre’s doctor. Basically, Lucious and Cookie are back to not getting along but Lucious is on a mission to get some dirt on Damon Cross or Empire and the entire family could be going down again. The feds have been harassing Dre all episode and this will probably be a theme all season. Becky and Giselle are still at Empire working and looking for the next up and coming talent. That hasn’t been going so well for them but they’ve declared that that are #BlackGirlMagic so they’ll get it together eventually. Source: Fox / Fox Finally, the big teaser of the season thus far will be who shot Lucious. The episode began nine months in the future. We see a clean shaven Lucious, the version of Lucious who looks like he’s back in the mix at Empire, getting shot and seemingly dying. But you never know with this show. Anyway, again, whose idea was it to give him that obvious and unnecessarily dramatic dreadlock wig? P.S. In case you’re wondering, they wrote Jamal ( Jussie Smollett ) off the way we knew they would. They said he ran off to London to be with his husband, and that’s that. Taraji P. Henson Doesn’t Want Bridesmaids For Her Upcoming Spring Wedding

Read more from the original source:

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty With her spring wedding less than a year away, Taraji P. Henson has her mind set on how she wants her nuptials with fiance Kelvin Hayden to go down. The actress appeared on  The Late Show with Stephen Colbert  to promote the final season of  Empire and share some deets on her big day, which include not having any bridesmaids. When Colbert asked if she’s been enjoying wedding planning activities like sampling cakes, she responded, “I don’t do samples. Don’t send me swatches. I told my wedding planner make it pretty, fun, make sure the food is good and a bomb deejay. No bridal party. I’m not a bridezilla. Please, I just want to say my vows in front of people I love, eat good food and have fun. That’s it!” Sounds like a perfect plan to us. The Golden Globe winner also talked about how she never imagined Empire would have had the impact it has.   Now…when it comes to the Oscar-nominee’s wedding dress, she’s got that part almost ready.  She’s going with Vera Wang. “Vera Wang is definitely making my dress. The wedding is 4/4/20, I leaked it,” Taraji excitedly told Access Hollywood , adding “We haven’t pinpointed the silhouette yet.” Here’s what we know: Whatever she chooses, she will look fantastic walking down the aisle.
