Rami Malek Talks Bohemian Rhapsody & Why Freddie Mercury Is A Revolutionary | Extra Butter

Read the original post:

Bohemian Rhapsody is more than a Freddie Mercury biopic it’s an exploration and celebration of one of the most popular rock bands of a generation, Queen. The movie is in theaters now and one this episode of Extra Butter with Xilla Valentine , we break down the film with Rami Malek as Mercury, Gwilym Lee as Brian May , Ben Hardy as Roger Tayler and Joseph Mazzello as John Deacon . Also joining us on this episode is Lucy Boynton who plays Mary Austin , the muse and lifelong friend of Freddie Mercury. Rhapsody delivers grade a acting from everyone involved with Rami Malek being the bright spot. His performance as the legendary rock icon was spot on, from the movements to the lip syncing and the performances. I asked the guys about recreating Queen’s iconic Live Aid performance , Rami revealed that doing one song and stopping was a lot harder than the guys doing the entire Queen set. He told us, “Sometimes it would be more exhausting just to do one of the songs then take a break and do the entire concert because you’re running on so much adrenaline that is carrying you from song to song.” The film nailed the energy of the show. I watched Queen’s performance at the benefit concert and it was almost identical. It’s scary how they were able to pull it off. Rami explained he felt the similarities too, “I remember working on the entire piece when we shot it and seeing how it was similar to their performance you could feel when the adrenaline was kicking in for them as well.” One of the other highlights of the film was watching Rami and Lucy Boynton work together on screen to craft Freddie and Mary’s relationship turned friendship. To me, I felt as if, at least for the movie, Freddie felt like he owned Mary because she was his girl. Lucy explained a pivotal scene when Mary starts living for herself. Lucy really perked up when she heard my opinion of the film saying, “It’s interesting that you say, you see that in the film, I guess that is that thing of the kind of expectation you have of people. Of what they give you and do for you, so I think Freddie really relied on Mary as a staple and center point of his life. You think that such a beautiful and romantic thing until you reverse that and think about how that must of have felt on the receiving end to be seen as someone’s center point as they go off and around.” Overall Bohemian Rhapsody is a good film that celebrates Queen and delivers an award-winning performance from Rami Malek that’s worth going to the movies to see, but if you want a deep dive into the life of Freddie Mercury, as I felt like the movie could have went deeper into the life of Freddie Mercury. Bohemian Rhapsody is in theaters now.

‘HTGAWM’ Recap: Annalise Gets Played By The Death We Didn’t See Coming

See more here:

Source: Mitch Haaseth / Getty Tonight’s episode of How to Get Away With Murder is heavy. HEAVY . But the heaviness doesn’t hit until the end, and out of nowhere. Buckle up. We start the episode with Bonnie at her sister Julie’s place. Julie isn’t too thrilled to see her. It’s clear that they trigger each other. However, Julie invites Bonnie in and Bonnie meets her niece (who is a little girl). At the same time this is going on we hear Annalise explaining to Frank that Bonnie reverts back to that abused little girl when she’s around her sister so this isn’t good for her. Speaking of Annalise, she meets with the governor who seems to be trying to make a truce. The gov explains that she has been adversarial toward Annalise because she hates losing, but she took a step back, did some soul searching and prayer, and wants to work with Annalise now. The deal is, Annalise can spearhead the Fair Defense Project where she allocates state funds to cases, and draft a bill to work toward getting people out of jail and reducing Pennsylvania’s prison population by 50%. This sounds great but we all know Annalise trusts no one, especially the governor, and this means she’d have to leave Caplan and Gold, so she really has to think about this. Annalise’s boss, Emmett, is obviously pissed when he learns the news and does what he can to convince her not to take the deal. He even finds a clause that says the state funds would be contingent upon whatever quota Annalise can meet, meaning, the more people that get off means the more money she’ll get. Gotta read the fine print! We all know Annalise was going to, but Emmett is a desperate man so he beats her to it. Annalise calls the governor and asks for a set budget instead of this quota situation and an immediate pardon for Nate Sr.who’s still in jail despite his charges being dropped because the mental health facility he’s supposed to move to has a long waiting list. Messed up much? The governor says she can check with her people about the budget but the Nate Sr situation is something she has to think about. Back to Bonnie. Bonnie wants answers, so Julie explains that their father told the nurse that Julie was the baby’s mother so they let her take the baby from the hospital. Then, once they got home their father took the baby somewhere unknown. Their mom believes the baby was sold. Dad told Julie that he’d kill her if she ever told anyone. Bonnie calls Annalise who tells her not to believe that story and not to get sucked back in. Annalise wants Bonnie to come back to Philly, Bonnie wants to stay and torture herself (and snoop around), so Annalise dispatches Frank to do what he does best–stalking. It turns out that Julie goes to drug counseling meetings (like AA) so Frank has infiltrated and he managed to record. At one meeting, we hear Julie explain that she’s protecting Bonnie by hiding things from her because if she knew the truth it would kill her. Emmett takes another crack at convincing Annalise to stay at Caplan and Gold and she decides to stay, but then she gets a call from the governor. The gov claims she’s an ally and that she’ll free Nate Sr if she takes the job. We all know Annalise won’t be turning that down. So, Emmett takes his L quietly because he understands that this is where Annalise’s heart is, and it’s a major job, but he’s obviously hurt and angry. Frank finds out that Bonnie’s son’s name is Jake and her dad probably did sell him to someone who lived 20 minutes away from them. Julie knew about this and even checked on him at one point but they called the cops on her. He shares all of this with Bonnie, of course. Bonnie confronts her sister and demands the truth. Julie claims that their dad was going to keep the baby home with them (and we all know how crappy that situation was), but jumped out of the car with the baby, on the way home from the hospital, ran into the woods and buried him. She promised Bonnie she’d protect him so that’s what she felt she did. THE NEXT GRAPH CONTAINS A SPOILER        Annalise heads to Nate Jr’s house and gives him the good news. Then Nate gets a call from the prison saying there has been an incident and that’s when we cut to a dead Nate Sr on the ground. SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. And feels. SO. MANY. FEELS. In next week’s episode, we hear Annalise saying she got played. Was it Emmett? Was it the governor? WHO DID IT!!! OMG! Remy Nah Is Getting Dragged For Defending R. Kelly: “Most Rapists Don’t Eat Your A**”

Remy Ma Continues Being Problematic Revolt TV’s State Of The Culture Show isn’t quite what we expected. The debates are powerful, enthusiastic and as intense as we imagine. However, we didn’t quite expect so much problematic material to come out of Remy Ma’s mouth of all people. Joe Budden? Sure. But Remy? Not Remy. The MC has made it a point to defend trash men as often as possible, from Bill Cosby, now to R. Kelly. On the latest episode, Remy tried to defend Kelly by stating that there are plenty of teenagers who want to sleep with older men, that the women in Kelly’s compound aren’t complaining and, finally, that rapists don’t eat the groceries. Are you f**** serious? Isn’t this the same Remy who used pedophilia as a main attack point in her feud with Nicki Minaj? Sigh. My face every time Remy opens her mouth out here caping for Bill Cosby and R.Kelly…please STFU already. Papoose…RUN!!! pic.twitter.com/RVEfYT2C4Y — SIR (@consciousBrOtHa) November 2, 2018 Naturally, Remy’s trash thoughts are getting her dragged to hell and back and she deserves it. Lord, just give Scottie Beam her own show and keep her away from these trash thoughts.

Trump’s Racist Ad Aims For The Willie Horton Effect, Explained

H istory was repeating itself with the release of President Donald Trump ’s new dog-whistling political ad days before the crucial Midterm elections. It was reminiscent of the Republicans’ infamous Willie Horton spot that exploited white fear of Black men ahead of the 1988 presidential election. See Also: Republicans Are Using Every Racist Stereotype Imaginable For The Midterm Elections Most of the nation learned about Horton from a 53-second ad intended to send white voters flocking to the polls to vote for then-Vice President George H.W. Bush  in theoretical exchange for protection from the alleged hoards of Black criminals. Horton was a convicted murderer who raped a white woman while out of prison under a weekend furlough program. With the debut of his new ad, the president was clearly taking a page from that racist playbook. He tweeted a video on Wednesday that blamed Democrats for allowing an undocumented Mexican immigrant for killing two California deputies and warns that liberals would allow hoards of Hispanic migrants into the country. The video showed deputies removing Luis Bracamontes from a courtroom in February because of his outbursts about killing more cops, during his sentencing. “Illegal immigrant, Luis Bracamontes , killed our people!” reads the opening text of the ad. “Democrats let him stay.” It is outrageous what the Democrats are doing to our Country. Vote Republican now! https://t.co/0pWiwCHGbh pic.twitter.com/2crea9HF7G — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 31, 2018 The parallels between each commercial were unavoidable. They are tied together by their blatant use of racism to exploit white fear of Black and brown people. Trump blamed the Democrats for Bracamontes’ crime, and the Horton ad pinned the blame to Bush’s Democratic opponent, former Massachusetts Gov. Michael Dukakis . Both ads also tell big lies. Massachusetts was not the only state with a furlough program. More than 40 states had similar programs, the Washington Post pointed out in 1988 article. The federal government also had a furlough program in the 1980s. Then-governor Michael Dukakis had supported the prison furlough program, and when he ran for President in 1988, his opponent, George H. W. Bush, used that to his advantage. Bush used America’s racism and fear of Black men to fuel his presidential campaign. pic.twitter.com/wZYfoiERLS — Frederick Joseph (@FredTJoseph) November 1, 2018 Trump was trying to build a case on his false claim that migrants at the nation’s southern border are more likely to enter the country illegally under Democratic rule. The fact is that Trump has deported  fewer undocumented immigrants than President Barack Obama did. The difference is that the Obama administration focused on deporting violent criminals and those who posed a national security threat , while Trump has seemed more interested in sending a message by breaking up families regardless of whether a violent crime was committed. Chelsea Houska Shows Off Two-Month Old Baby Layne!

There are a few Teen Mom stars we could name who keep us up at night. They just should not be trusted with children. Chelsea Houska is not one of those moms. She’s actually pretty great with her kids, including her new baby girl . And now, Chelsea is showing off a brand new photo of baby Layne at 2 months old. She’s so cute! Precious baby Layne DeBoer was born on August 29. That day was also Chelsea’s 27th birthday, so the family is going to have to deal with the inconvenience of double-birthdays forever. This week, baby Layne turned two months old — already! Chelsea shared a photo of her third child to mark the occasion.  See how much this cutie has grown in just the last month! “Pretty girl is TWO months,” Chelsea captioned the pic. Don’t worry — we have the one-month version of this photo below for comparison. Layne is still a very little baby, but she’s definitely and visibly begun to grow. She has that not-so-expressive look on her face not uncommon to babies. Everything is new, everything is exciting, and everything is a little terrifying — even mommy and datting taking a photo. Before we know it, though, Layne will be smiling, crawling, walking, and even talking. For comparison, here is Layne just one month earlier. Hair bows on babies seem to be super popular these days, if Instagram is any indication. (Maybe as a substitute for hair by parents concerned that their babies might be mistaken for boys? People are weird about that stuff) As you can see, Layne was noticeably smaller in the older photo. And no, we don’t just mean because the camera was farther away. At this time in a baby’s life, they should be growing faster than at any other. Fans cooed over how cute Layne is and how quickly she is growing. A number of commenters also pointed out that she looks a bit like her big brother, Watson. Layne and Watson are both Chelsea’s children with Cole DeBoer. Cole has also really stepped up to be a parent for Chelsea’s daughter, Aubree. (We thank our lucky stars every night that Chelsea is no longer with Adam Lind) Together, the five of them are such a beautiful family. Chelsea’s Instagram is absolutely filled to the brim with photos of family fun. Layne is too little to really appreciate a lot of that yet, but she’ll be grown before any of us can believe it. In the mean time, fans just hope that Chelsea continues to pepper her social media with more snaps of her precious new baby. (And the rest of her adorable, charming family) We can’t wait for the three month update for Layne — which will come a full week after Thanksgiving. So when your leftover turkey runs out, folks, start keeping an eye out for pics of this little cutie. In the mean time, however, you can look at more photos of Chelsea’s youngest right here: View Slideshow: Chelsea Houska Baby Pics: Little Layne Comes to Life!

KUWTK Clip: Khloe is in Labor! Khloe is in Labor!

Khloe Kardashian is in labor, people! This is not a drill: Khloe Kardashian is in labor! Wait, what's that? Khloe Kardashian went into labor many months ago? Back in April? And she now has a six-month baby girl at home? Oh. Despite this fact being very well known among all celebrity gossip followers, Keeping Up with the Kardashians will go back in time this Sunday night. The E! reality series will air an episode centered around Khloe being in the very final stages of her pregnancy. In the sneak peek featured here, we see a very panicked Kris Jenner telling daughters Kourtney and Kim to wrap up a video conference call because Khloe is about to give birth. And they really need to hurry the eff up! “I can’t wait one second!” Kris screamed at Kim, as she and Kourtney try to discreetly end the call. Kim then offers to join her mom on the private jet, but Kris can only kicking herself and say: “I knew we should have gone last night. I knew it!”  Khloe, of course, is in Cleveland at this time. And the family is flying in to be by her side for the birth because she has just learned that Tristan Thompson cheated on her (A LOT!) and she isn't sure if she wants him in the delivery room or not. We also see Kim calling Khloe to ask if she's okay, and Khloe asking in return; “Should the contractions feel like period cramps?” Yes, Kim responds. Following last week's episode, a fan tweeted the following at Khloe: “I feel so bad Khloe had to go through what Tristan did while filming KUWTK. “If I'm not wrong, next episode will be insane. You're so strong to put that personal issue as part of the show, knowing millions of [people] will watch it. I wouldn't be able to do it.” And Khloe actually wrote back; “Sadly, it will. I signed up to show the the good and the bad, right? The bad is very hard to relive, but it's life.” Check out the intense clip here and then tune in to watch the full episode Sunday night on E!. Ariana Grande: SLAMMED For Skipping Mac Miller Tribute Concert!

Back in September, rapper Mac Miller passed away from an overdose after years of battling addiction. Last night in Los Angeles, fans, loved ones, and colleagues from the music world gathered together to pay tribute to the late emcee. John Mayer, Travis Scott and Chance the Rapper were among the A-listers who performed, but one star was noticeably absent. Miller’s former girlfriend, Ariana Grande, opted out of participating in the evening’s festivities. On social media, some Miller fans were critical of Grande’s decision not to participate, with many pointing out that the concert was both an opportunity to pay tribute to the late musician and a fundraiser for arts education. Others took note of the fact that Grande paid tribute to Miller on Instagram, where she posed with his beloved dog while wearing a hoodie he designed himself: “She is still deeply grieving and chose to pay respect in her own way,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online. “Ariana is now focusing her time and energy on her music and upcoming tour, which she is very excited about,” the insider adds. “It’s what Mac would want.” Miller and Grande broke up in May after more than two years of dating. There was no mention of either that relationship  or Miller’s fatal substance abuse issues during the concert. On stage, artists paid tribute to Miller through music. Mayer performed a cover of Miller’s “Small Worlds” while Vince Staples and Anderson Paak both performed songs on which they collaborated with Miller. Between songs, friends spoke of their fondest memories of Miller, with Chance the Rapper offering one of the night’s most memorable moments: “Mac, thank you for so many different things,” the emcee said of his late friend. “Thank you for the music you made; thank you for the music that you provided other people with, for the opportunities that you provided me with, but overall, for the friendships that you built through your music and through your artistry.” Along with several other performers, Chance credited Miller with inspiring him as an artist and a performer, but most importantly as a human being. Plastic Sold Separately: Kylie Jenner’s Halloween Costume Has The Barbz AND Beyhive Dragging Her To Hell And Back

Happy Halloween #BARBIE pic.twitter.com/AqbFLpBUM6 — Kylie Jenner (@KylieJenner) October 31, 2018 Kylie Jenner’s Costume Controversy Kylie Jenner’s last name should tell you that she is all about controversy, even when it’s not totally obvious. Her Halloween costume this year was Barbie. Pretty innocent, right? WRONG, KYLIE! VERY WRONG! Here are the problems with all of this: 1. Kylie Jenner and Nicki Minaj have been in a passive and sometimes not so passive aggressive feud since Nicki blamed Stormi for Travis Scott’s album being #1 while Nicki’s was runner-up. Nicki tweeted about the baby and everything. So naturally, Kylie dressing as a Barbie, which is Nicki’s moniker, can be seen as a dig at Ms. Minaj. See how that works? 2. Beyonce dressed as Barbie a couple of years ago (even making Jay-Z join in and dress as Ken). The Jennerdashians have a long history of appropriating Beyonce’s swagger…so how does this fit in? Kylie showing nicki a real Barbie https://t.co/Ty7pIJHrnz — Erica (@CrownMeQueenE_) October 31, 2018 Twitter has all the jokes, speculation and anger. What could unite the Beyhive and the Barbs? Kylie Jenner doing something in public. Boom.
