Whether they’re handed down by God or Jim Bob, rules are what make the Duggar family tick. Even if you’re a casual fan, you’re probably familiar with the Duggar courtship rules , the dress code, and the bizarrely regimented lifestyle that governs life on the compound. For example, many episodes of Counting On have featured various members of the massive Duggar clan explaining the many things they’re not allowed to do prior to marriage. (The list of what’s not permitted is much, much longer than the list of what’s allowed.) But there are other rules that are shrouded in mystery. Take, for example, the Duggar policy regarding social media accounts. It’s long been rumored that Duggars who are not either married, engaged or courting are not allowed to post on social media. It was widely assumed that it was for that reason that the still-single Jana Duggar doesn’t have a social media account. This became a matter of public discussion when Jessa Duggar posted the above photo of her sister earlier this week. “I think their family has their own rule that they can’t have their own social media until they are in a relationship,” one fan commented. Jessa was having none of that talk, and she was quick to cement her place as the most outspoken Duggar daughter by immediately clearing the air: “It’s not a rule, it’s just coincidence,” Jessa responded, adding a laughing emoji to make it clear she’s not taking the situation too seriously. Of course, that emoji also served to confuse the issue a bit. In August, Southern Charm star J.D. Madison was accused of sexual assault . The details of the allegations are … heinous. Another man was implicated, and it is that man’s actions that are bringing this case back into the spotlight. He is now accused of having shown up at the victim’s house and threatening her. J.D. Madison is accused of having drugged a woman and of having raped her once she lost consciousness. According to FITSNews , another man implicated in the assault, chiropractor Jay Schwartz, showed up at the unnamed victim’s home. “I’ve been trying to contact you,” he reported told her while standing at her doorway. He then apparently said: “I want to talk to you about what happened that night.” Instead of leaving when he realized that he was unwelcome, he apparently told her that he “has the messages from that night.” To make matters worse, when the woman tried to close her door, Jay allegedly placed his hand between the door and frame, propping the door open. It is at this point that he allegedly repeated what he had told her. Once he had finally departed, the woman contacted police — which is absolutely the right thing to do under those circumstances. Police then went to Schwartz’s home and asked him about the encounter. He reportedly agreed with the woman’s “assessment of their conversation.” Police then returned to her home where they gave her a copy of the No Trespassing order that had been issued to Schwartz. Truth be told, an instruction to not trespass on someone’s property is a very mild response, considering the circumstances. A man implicated in the drugging and sexual assault of a woman then showing up at that woman’s home and preventing her from closing her door? That sounds like a terrifying ordeal. It also sounds like a court could interpret it as witness tampering or witness intimidation. Southern Charm fans cannot help of being reminded that J.D. Madison’s good buddy Thomas Ravenel was recently arrested . Ravenel was arrested for assault and battery, and those who have connected the dots believe that the charges stem from the allegations by Nanny Dawn. She is one of two women who have accused Ravenel of sexual assault. Others have accused him of alarming behavior, saying that he seems like a perfect gentleman … right up until he becomes someone else altogether. Thomas Ravenel will not be returning to Southern Charm for Season 6. J.D. Madison was never a star of Southern Charm in the way that Ravenel was. Instead, Madison had a recurring role — but that role was ongoing for the first five seasons of the series. Some are asking if reality television in particular has a problem — if there is something about the genre that makes bad men gravitate towards it. We understand the arguments, but we are not so sure. In court, Angelina Jolie has slammed Brad Pitt for being a deadbeat dad, and clarified publicly that a loan is not child support . The fighting during their messy divorce has reached a turning point. Insiders say that Brad is no longer interested in reconciliation with Angelina. T he white Chicago ex-police officer who killed LaQuan McDonald , a Black teen, in a hail of 16 bullets is not a racist, according to the former cop’s African-American in-law. He’s speaking out for the first time on behalf of Jason Van Dyke , who’s standing trial in a Cook County courtroom for the first-degree murder of McDonald. It appears to many observers that his statement is a sign of desperation. Although I’m an only child, this guy has become my brother, the only one I’ve ever had,” said 35-year-old Thompson, who also called Van Dyke his “best friend.” Still, it’s hard for many to understand some other explanation for Van Dyke’s indifference to shooting the Black teenager 16 times—continuing to fire even while he was on the ground dying. No how. No way. I never believed this was about color. I never believed what happened was motivated by racism because Jay is not that kind of guy,” Thompson said.
