Joy-Anna Duggar: All the Men in My Family SUCK!

Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth welcomed their first child , a baby boy named Gideon, back in February. But since reality television takes time, we’re just now seeing all the good baby stuff on Counting On. We’ve seen Joy-Anna talk about her plans for a home birth, and then when she went into labor, we saw her dramatic rush to the hospital once her midwife told her the baby was breach. She ended up having a c-section , a little Gideon turned out not to be so little — at birth, he weighed 10 pounds and 3 ounces. After watching all that on the show, we’re now at the point where we get to see Joy and Austin actually caring for their new baby. And as you can see in this new clip from this week’s episode, it’s turning out to be a little more difficult than they thought it would be! Joy-Anna Duggar: Look How Cute My Baby Is! As the video begins, the new parents are preparing to give their son a bath in the kitchen sink, and they say that he usually enjoys the process. Joy, who’s looking about as exhausted as you’d expect the mother of a newborn to look, also says that she’s been having to wake Gideon up during the night to feed him, because he doesn’t wake up to eat on his own. A producer tells Austin that when his own kid was born, he was “freaked out” for the first few nights, and Austin could relate to that. “The first week it was, ‘Is the baby breathing?'” he recalls. “I would just lay there and see if I could hear it, and multiple times I got out of bed, you know, making sure it was breathing.” “I think I’m finally coming to the realization that there’s always going to be something for the rest of my life, and the rest of his life.” Because, as he acknowledges, “that’s just part of my job as a dad.” When Joy has her turn to speak with producers, she admits that “Being a mom is, in a lot of ways, easier than I thought and then, in a lot of ways, harder than I thought.” She says that she knows her mom, good ol’ Michelle Duggar, “had gone through a lot with all of us kids,” but that she didn’t think having a kid of her own would be “that hard” because she’d always helped to take care of her siblings. “It’s given me a whole new appreciation for moms out there that have kids,” she adds. Next, Austin reveals that he’d never changed a diaper before his son came along, but that since Joy had a c-section and wasn’t as able to “get out of bed much,” he had to step up and take care of business. He actually says that Joy only changed about five diapers during the first two weeks, so it sounds like he really was taking over diaper duty. “Austin really stepped up,” Joy confirms, “especially since I had a c-section. I couldn’t really hardly get up at all by myself.” “He had to help me up and I mean, do all the dirty work, for me and for the baby, and just … I mean, he’s amazing.” And then, and this is the super interesting part, she adds that “I haven’t ever seen a guy give so much of himself for his wife.” It’s interesting because the Duggar family is very, very close, and Joy has seen a lot of interactions between married couples. There’s Jim Bob and Michelle, Josh and Anna, Jill and Derick, Jessa and Ben, Jinger and Jeremy, Joseph and Kendra, Josiah and Lauren … So in all of those marriages, she’s never seen a man take such good care of his wife? Also, Austin took care of his kid and his wife after his wife had a pretty major surgery, which is great, obviously, but it’s also just what a spouse should do, you know? Is she saying that the men in her family wouldn’t take care of their children if their wives weren’t able to do it? Because that kind of sounds like what she’s saying. Matthew Perry Reveals THREE-MONTH Hospital Stay; Is the Actor Alright Now?

About five weeks ago, we quoted a report that claimed Matthew Perry was on death’s door . It may have seemed like hyperbole to some, but the former Friends star has now come out and confirmed the following: He was REALLY sick for a long period of time. On Friday, the 49-year-old actor tweeted a few simple, albeit scary, words: Three months in a hospital bed. Check. Whoa there. Three months in a hospital bed?!? That makes it sound as if the “death’s door” report was not so far off base. Perry did not specify whether or not he’s finally been checked out of the hospital, but it’s safe to assume so based on that Tweet. The update comes a little over a month after a rep for the actor confirmed in a statement to that “Matthew Perry recently underwent surgery in a Los Angeles hospital to repair a gastrointestinal perforation. “He is grateful for the concern and asks for continued privacy as he heals.” The outcome of this specific surgery depends on how early the ailment was diagnosed, along with how severe the perforation is and whether the patient had another disease or illness at the time. We can’t really answer any of these questions when it comes to Perry. Often times, conditions such as appendicitis, stomach ulcers, gallstones and/or Crohn’s disease can cause gastrointestinal perforations, as can a stabbing to the abdomen and abdominal surgery. Moreover, smoking and excessive alcohol use can increase a person’s need for this procedure. And it’s a safe guess that this is why Perry has been suffering. The veteran star has open about his struggles with alcohol abuse and has even opened his own sober-living facility named Perry House. “I couldn’t stop,” Perry told People Magazine in 2013 of his substance abuse. “Eventually things got so bad that I couldn’t hide it, and then everybody knew.” A powerful voice in the battle against addiction, Perry also said the following at one point to The Hollywood Reporter” “You can’t have a drug problem for 30 years and then expect to have it be solved in 28 days.” This is a reference to the typical length of one’s stay at a treatment facility. In honor of his road to recovery, Perry was presented with the 2015 Phoenix Rising Award. “I’m an award-winning alcoholic,” Perry told The Hollywood Reporter. “I shouldn’t be getting an award; Phoenix House should be getting an award.” Along with his iconic role on Friends, Perry also anchored such programs as The Odd Couple. Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Mr. Sunshine. We wish him all the best. View Slideshow: 31 Celebrities Who Have Been to Rehab

SMH: Shots Fired In The Parking Lot Of Nipsey Hussle’s Crenshaw Clothing Store

Neilson Barnard/Getty Images for BET Shots Fire Outside Of Nipsey Hussle’s Clothing Store Nipsey Hussle is reportedly in New York City to attend the Diamond Ball. But while the rapper is on the East Coast, a serious situation went down at his Crenshaw clothing establishment. A fight reportedly almost turned deadly as shots were fired in the parking lot of Hussle’s The Marathon Clothing store in Los Angeles, California on Friday (September 14). Witnesses tell  TMZ  that a huge fight broke out in the parking lot of the store. During the alleged brawl, one of the people involved pulled out a gun and fired a couple shots into the air in an attempt to stop the melee. Those involved then proceeded to disperse from the scene before police finally arrived. Authorities showed up a short time later and discovered blood in the parking lot. According to the report, they questioned employees inside the store who did not offer any information that would assist in solving the crime. Police are hoping to review security footage in an effort to pinpoint a suspect. The rapper’s clothing store is only one of his attempts at making sure to bring business to his beloved hometown. Back in February, he partnered with Vector90 and the District 8 Los Angeles City Council to launch a coworking space in South Los Angeles. Only a month later, he was part of an investment team that put in a bid to purchase a historic Los Angeles hotel. As of now, no one has been arrested in the shooting at The Marathon Clothing.

DJ Quik Talks About Being Robbed Of The Chance To Open For Michael Jackson On His O2 Tour

John Stillwell – PA Images/PA Images via Getty Images DJ Quik Reflects On Michael Jackson’s Influence At His Diamond Celebration In Las Vegas It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a decade since Michael Jackson passed away, but his influence continues to reach far and wide. Bossip’s Senior Director of Content Janeé Bolden attended Michael Jackson’s Diamond Celebration in honor of what would have been Jackson’s 60th birthday a few weeks ago, where guests enjoyed a live performance of Michael Jackson’s “ONES” show at Mandalay Bay and an afterparty deejayed by Mark Ronson, where Usher performed. Besides taking in the performance, we also had a chance to chat with Michael’s brothers Tito and Jackie Jackson about Jackson’s legacy and hear DJ Quik reveal he nearly had the chance to open for Michael. Judy Eddy/WENN.com “He would be smiling down at this event,” Tito told BOSSIP. “We’re very excited to celebrate his birthday and his legacy with all the celebrities who’ve come out tonight.” Jackie modeled a pair of new Giuseppe Zanotti x Michael Jackson sneakers as the designer himself also walked the red carpet. “It’s a new shoe, it comes out in October,” Jackie told BOSSIP. “It’s just one style of it, but I dig it. I’m going to wear it onstage too.” When asked if the family had any plans for a private celebration of Michael’s 60th, Tito reminded us that much of his family doesn’t believe in such commemorations. “As you now, half of my family is Jehovah Witness,” Tito said. “And the ones that do celebrate, you’re looking at them right now.” Besides Tito and Jackie, Michael’s oldest children Prince and Paris were also in attendance. Other celebrity guests included Gabrielle Union, Vanessa Hudgens, Blake Griffin, Usher, Angela Bassett, Evan Ross and Ashlee Ross Simpson and rapper/producer DJ Quik. Quik told us he was especially happy to join MJ’s Diamond Celebration because he’d nearly been an opener for the pop superstar at one point in his career. “I never got a chance to see Michael live,” DJ Quik told BOSSIP. “My opportunity came when his promoter Terry Harvey called me to open some of his shows that he was going to do at the O2 Arena back in 2009. I was stoked. I had just put out a record with Kurupt and we were on a promo tour. Our promo tour started June 25, 2009 [the day Jackson died] so you know what day that was. While we were soundchecking, we get the news we’re not going to Europe and performing with him.” “I was out of it,” Quik added. “I don’t even know if I performed. I was hurt.” Quik took a moment to stroll down memory lane with us, remembering back to the first time he saw Jackson’s “Thriller” video: “We didn’t have cable at that point,” Quik told BOSSIP, “so I was across the street at my homeboy Billy Ray Smith’s house watching it on their cable TV — you know, back when the TV’s used to sit on the floor? One of them big RCA or Zenith TVs and being moved by it.” “We had seen all the rock’n’roll videos, Def Leppard and all that, but when his video came on it spoke right to us. It let us know that black people could do it.” Judy Eddy/WENN.com Asked to describe which Michael Jackson song best reflects his life, Quik, born David Blake, didn’t hesitate a beat. “‘Human Nature,’ because that record describes the whimsical part of life,” Quik said. “Michael Jackson was a dreamer and he was all about ooh’ing and aah’ing people. That record just has some kind of quality in it that lets you know you can be magic too.” With Prince and Paris Jackson in attendance and accompanied by his own son David Jr. Quik also took a moment to reflect on the importance of legacy. “It’s important because nobody is going to represent you like the people that you raised,” Quik said. “You can hire people publicists all day long and tell them to run this or run that, but when my son speaks about me he is going to speak from the heart. He’s going to speak about the personal experiences and public.” Quik’s son is also a producer and the Compton native said he couldn’t be more proud of him. “This kid is awesome. He did it on his own,” Quik boasted. “I didn’t have to tell him hey son do this or do that. Now I ask him for beats. ‘Can I rap on it one time? I still got it son, I think I still got it.’Now he’s performing, he’s engineering. I’m really proud of the stuff he does behind the scenes, he’s in the studio teaching other people how to engineer, how to patch wires… He got it honest.” Check out more photos from MJ’s Diamond Celebration below:

Danielle Mullins’ BFF: I Didn’t Mean to Say Muslim People Have Sex With Goats

Danielle Mullins and Mohamed Jbali are one of  90 Day Fiance ‘s most controversial couples — even though they’re now  bitter exes . Back when they were together, one of Danielle’s friends made a joke about Mohamed having lost his virginity to “his family goat.” Because many viwers pointed out that her jab appeared to have bigoted undertones, she is finally explaining herself to Danielle’s fans. Danielle’s friend Beth Mahar took to Danielle’s Facebook page to set the record straight. “Ok folks,” Beth writes. “Since my comment to Mohamed about his family goat is still such a hot topic for some people I am taking this opportunity to explain it” “I am not racist in any way, shape or form,” Beth insists. “I am married to a Muslim immigrant from Pakistan,” she shares, adding that she has been married “for the past 7 years now.” She even notes that “My husband is a much more devout practicing Muslim than Mohamed Jbali.” Obviously, friendship or even marriage does not preclude someone from being a bigot. But that doesn’t mean that Beth  is  a bigot, either. “This TV show,  90 Day Fiancé , etc, etc, is strictly for entertainment purposes only,” Beth points out. Beth says: “My comment to him about the family goat insinuating basically that the family goat was his first sexual experience was for entertainment value only” “Was it inappropriate or in bad taste?” Beth asks. “Yes, probably so, and I sincerely apologize to anyone who it may have offended.” After that very reasonable apology, she writes: “(except Mohamed…LOL)” “But seriously,” Beth continues. “I truly am not racist and no TV show whether reality or not should be taken so damn seriously.” “By the way just for everyone’s information,” Beth explains. “That comment and filming of this particular scene was filmed over a year ago.” “Again,” Beth continues. “I didn’t mean to offend anyone other than ‘s–t head’ and I certainly do not have anything against Muslims.” That is very reassuring to hear! Beth concludes: “I hope this helps to clarify my comment for those who got the impression that I am a racist, Muslim hater.” This is a complicated topic! On the one hand, it’s absolutely a reality television show. No one should seek to emulate the behavior that they see from random reality stars. On the other hand, the words that we say have impact, especially when those words are broadcast to millions of TV screens. Inside jokes or personal jabs don’t translate well through television. Some people may be offended, while others may parrot those insults to others who are  not  Mohamed Jbali but merely share his skin tone. It is great that Beth Mahar came forward to clear the air about this, even though it is admittedly pretty weird that she did it on Danielle’s Facebook page. (She could have made it on her own page and then let Danielle share it) But it’s important to remember that making fun of a bad person for something like weight, accent, or cultural differences doesn’t just impact them — it impacts entire communities. You can poek fun at Mohamed’s misdeeds if you like, but leave his culture out of it. View Slideshow: 90 Day Fiance Couples: Who’s Still Together?

Duggars Offer Back-to-School Advice (Despite the Fact They’ve Never Sent Their Kids to School)

The days are getting shorter, the never-used golf clubs and camping equipment are gathering dust, and the nagging sense that you’re wasting the best years of your life withering away under the harsh glare of fluorescent lights in a cubicle that seems to get smaller by the day is growing more profound. This can only mean one thing — autumn is upon us. All over the country, kids are back in the classroom, but for the Duggar family, there aren’t too many changes around the compound this time of year. That’s because the Duggar kids are homeschooled . Yes, not one of Jim Bob and Michelle’s 19 kids has ever set foot inside an actual classroom. And yet, for some reason, the family still feels it’s their duty to offer back-to-school advice to their devoted fanbase. “I know many moms and dads are in ‘back-to-school’ mode and have a thousand things to think about and many stressors in your life,” Michelle wrote on the Duggars official Facebook page this week. “Recently, I was reading in God’s word,” Michelle continued. “‘Be anxious for nothing.’ It was such a beautiful reminder that God has everything in control. He is working things out on our behalf. We have to place our trust in Him and He will direct our steps.” Decent advice, but it’s easy for someone to tell you to just chill out when they’re not the ones who have to buy their kid a separate three-ring binder for every freakin’ class. As In Touch Weekly points out, many commenters took issue with the Duggars’ advice for stressed-out parents. “Oh, the overt irony of that post,” wrote one Facebook user. Others echoed the sentiment, and it’s not hard to see why they’re so resentful of advice issued by someone who simply cannot relate to their plight. Obviously, homeschooling 19 kids is no easy task — but the Duggars have had plenty of help. If you’re a longtime fan of the family, you probably already know that the Duggars employ a buddy system , meaning that each child is assigned a younger sibling to look after — and educate. Now that so many Duggars have left the nest, most of the tutoring duties fall not to Michelle, but to Jana. Yes, with the help of her friend Laura DeMasie, Jana Duggar has been homeschooling her siblings for years. Some have gone so far as to suggest that the reason Jana is still single is that she’s so busy with helping to raise her siblings that she’s had no time to find a partner. We don’t know if that’s true, but we do know that Michelle is not the ideal person to be dispensing back-to-school advice. He recently shared the cover and confirmed the first single will be soon to follow.  Since July the multi-platinum producer has been flooding his Instagram account with posts promoting his second studio album. By the sounds of the snippets, the One Man Band Man might be sitting on his best work to date. For his birthday, September 13, Swizz unveiled the creative for  Poison . Besides an expected marriage of deadly bars and beats he explained a deeper meaning to the title. “ #POISON  official album artwork done by  @cleonpeterson  its titled END OF EMPIRE .. End of empire is about upending the system, taking power back from the corrupt and fighting for justice.  #POISON  = POISE ON !! Let the Madness begin ”. Along with rolling out the creative he also confirmed the lead track from the project “Pistol On My Side”. Featuring Lil Wayne, we get a small taste of Dean’s signature booming sounds with a couple of punchlines from Weezy via a 34 second sample. While he has yet to confirm a formal release date for  Poison,  Swizz announced that preorders for the album will start tonight to coincide with audio and video of “Pistol On My Side” dropping at midnight. Per his social media it looks like Kendrick Lamar, The Lox, Jim Jones, Pusha T, Young Thug and 2 Chainz will also make the cut. Let’s hope the LP matches the hype and the Nas album, solely produced by Swizz and RZA is the follow up. Via  Hot New Hip Hop Photo: WENN.com

Bossip on WETV Recap: Hat-Fishing Men Get Put On Blast

Source: Michael Loccisano / Getty The Bossip crew on tonight’s episode of Bossip on WETV pulled no punches, as usual when discussing major pop culture events of the week. Kym Whitley, Tami Roman, and Joseline Hernandez join tonight’s episode to get in on the smack talk. The first few topics up for discussion are Serena Williams’ match against Naomi Osaka. As we all know, Williams went off on the umpire for accusing her of cheating. That’s obviously a wtf! No athlete, especially one as good as Williams would ever want to hear such a blasphemous statement made about their playing skills so she rightfully went off. Tuh! via GIPHY Next, the crew weighs in on the new Miss America, Nia Imani Franklin. The 25-year-old multi-talented beauty was recently crowned in what was the first Miss America since the organization did away with the swimsuit competition. It’s Miss America 2.0, who can be mad at that? Some people can, but I’m not. Kym Whitley is the first guest to join the squad to discuss her new book, a novel entitled, The Delusion of Cinderella , and her time on Braxton Family Values helping Traci come up with some storylines outside of her sisters since they ditched her. It’s a cool vibe as they break down Chris Brown’s child support drama, Nicki Minaj vs. Cardi B’s beef situation, and the rumored Faith Evans vs. Mary J. Blige NYFW fight. The latter never actually happened, but it did inspire the Bossip version, which was cougar fights they’d like to see. They want to see Kris Jenner vs Caitlyn, Cicely Tyson against anyone (lordt), Madea and Mo’Nique, but Kym pointed out that, that technically already happened. It’s all just jokes people, but let us pray. Joseline Hernandez joins the convo via video chat to add nothing we don’t already know about the Nicki vs. Cardi situation, but she does offer that no one better mess with her. via GIPHY Tami Roman joins the group for a quick kiki and she discusses how people don’t often get to see her softer side on Basketball Wives because “they want people to be specific characters.” She’s a character alright! Anyway, she and Reggie still aren’t getting married and in case you didn’t know, the Bonnet Chronicles is the result of people on Basketball Wives talking smack about her. via GIPHY Finally, the episode concludes with gems only Bossip can deliver — Hat-fish offenders. Hat-fish is a term for big headed men who are fine when they have their hats on, but…you get it. Ne-Yo, Plies, and Young Jeezy are a few members of the hat-fish squad. Then, play cousin Marcellas Reynolds stops by to discuss NYFW lewks and finally, the episode winds down with the reminder that the Braxton Sisters plus Mama Braxton, will be back on Braxton Family Values next week and Iyanla Vanzant is going to read Tamar (and probably all of them) for filth. How Black Lives Matter Is Taking A Grassroots Approach To Stop Gun Violence

The rest is here:

G un violence across the nation has reached a human rights crisis level: from the out-of-control situations in Chicago and Baltimore  to tragedies like the Parkland, Florida , school shooting and most recently the Dallas cop who killed an unarmed Black man in his own apartment. NewsOne spoke with Philadelphia-based Black Lives Matter (BLM) national organizer and activist  Asa Khalif   about his grassroots effort to help stem the crisis in Philadelphia, where shootings have increased by 10 percent this year and homicides in southwest Philadelphia have  surged by 26 percent . See Also:  Heartbreaking: Chicago Mourns Gun Violence Activist As City Sees 21 People Shot Amnesty International released a new report on Wednesday that examined how the U.S. government has allowed gun violence to become a human rights crisis “on a massive scale” and accuses the powers that be of violating international human rights standards. U.S. officials are required to comply with certain global treaties that touch on the right to live free of violence, including the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination, the global human rights organization said. But gun violence has disproportionately affected Black communities. African-Americans represented approximately 13 percent of the population in 2016, yet they constituted nearly 60 percent of gun homicides nationwide. Naomi Wadler—the 11-year-old activist who delivered a poignant speech about gun violence at the March for Our Lives demonstration in March—will be honored by the NAACP. https://t.co/ofDM1xm1El pic.twitter.com/1egG1Cei3g — NewsOne (@newsone) July 15, 2018 Khalif said he supported Amnesty International designating gun violence a human rights crisis. Last year, He and other activists started an initiative in Philadelphia last year to reach out to young people in the community. He said they see themselves as uniquely positioned to contribute to a solution through preventing potentially violent situations from getting worse. NewsOne (NO): How is BLM organized to combat gun violence in Philadelphia? Asa Khalif (AK): We have defused and de-escalated at least 25 to 30 incidents last year, and 45 this summer. We know the players because we live in the community. When we get information, word on the street that there will be beef, often through Instagram or Facebook, it’s very easy for us to approach ‘Raheem’ and say, “Can I talk to you? I heard there’s a misunderstanding, could we have a conversation before it gets to a certain level.” A lot of this violence comes from misunderstandings. A lot of times the brothers don’t even want to engage in violence. A lot of it is ego, peer pressure, false pride. And they’re looking for a way out. Intervening helps both parties to save face and walk away without looking like a quote, punk. We are concerned about this issue. We live in the community. The myth is we only show up when there’s a police shooting. We are on the front lines when it comes to gun violence because it affects us. We have loved ones who have been victims. NO: The interventions you described are important, but what’s the bigger solution? AK: Gun violence is a virus in our community. We know the virus; we’ve detected the virus, and we know where that virus is coming from. It’s up to us, organizers and people in the community. We have the cure. We have to come together as people of color to make sure gun violence is not an issue in our community. There’s a church on every block in our community, and those churches go behind safe walls and preach to themselves. It’s time now for ministers and congregations to link up with the activists, and not be afraid of BLM activists who have been deemed militant. As I’ve said when the movie Black Panther was playing, we–the activists, community leaders and mothers and fathers who are standing in our communities–are the superheroes. Black Panther, Wonder Woman, Batman, those are people who don’t exist and are not coming to save our community, and so we have to pick up the torch. In #Philadelphia we #WearOrange , we march and we say #Enough to Gun Violence @MomsDemand pic.twitter.com/aGkcyWXa5R — Jme B GunSafety (@archymomjaime) June 2, 2018 NO: Do you share Amnesty International’s view that the government bears a lot of blame for the gun violence? Aside from the legislative failures toward achieving gun control, has other government policies contributed to the problem? AK: I’ve been extremely critical of the federal government, which has always had a hand in the flow of guns into the community. We have to hold the government and gun dealerships accountable. We need to call on law enforcement, instead of occupying our community and shooting us in the back, to do the job you were sworn to do. If you’re going to rush into our community, make sure the busts you do are the gun dealers, the ones who are making the big dollars, not ‘Raheem’ who sold a gun for 50 bucks. The government is also 99 percent to blame in setting the conditions that make gun violence an issue. We have poverty in our community, unemployment, our schools are not as well-funded as white counterparts. It all gives a sense of hopelessness. When you have those conditions and you have no self-worth, it’s very easy to pick up a gun and shoot someone who looks like you because you don’t value yourself. If you give people hope, you’ll see a turnaround. Give a man a job and you’ll see a drop in crime. Young people need a place to go and a purpose, an alternative to standing on the corner and selling drugs.
