Priyanka Chopra to Meghan Markle Haters: You Are ALL RACIST!

Despite her beauty and grace and giving birth to a royal baby, Meghan Markle remains unpopular in certain circles in the UK, including the tabloids. The reason for which so many people are eager to attack her is no real mystery, but it seems that only Priyanka Chopra is willing to say it. The hate engine that constantly attacks Meghan? It’s fueled by racism. In an interview with The Sunday Times , Priyanka Chopra spoke about the absolute vitriol that has been directed at Meghan Markle. The most famous of Meghan’s haters, of course, are members of her own family. But even the media — especially British tabloids — have taken a hard line, blaming her for any and all societal ills. Priyanka understates that this cruel coverage is “really unfortunate.” “But,” she notes. “If there’s anyone who can handle it, it’s her.” When asked if she believes that the bizarre animosity is rooted in racism, Priyanka speaks the truth. “For sure, 100%,” Priyanka accurately replies. “Of course it has to do with racism.” So many people have tried to tiptoe around and avoid calling out famously racist British tabloids for their blatant racism. But not Priyanka. She explains that “it’s an obvious reason.” “But the beauty of Meg,” Priyanka praises. “Is that she’s been herself through all of this.” Priyanke then goes on to praise her friend’s authenticity — while also reminding the world that they were friends before Meghan was on any royal radar. “A lot of people got to know her after everything [once she started dating Harry],” Priyanka notes. “But I knew her before,” she adds. And she can confirm that Meghan has remained true to herself. Priyanka affirms: “She’s the same chick.” Some people allow this level of global megafame to change them. Meghan has not. “Now that she’s got a real platform,” Priyanka continues. “She talks about the same things she always did.” “We spent hours speaking about the difference that influence and dialogue can make to the world before this whole thing happened,” she says. “So what you see now,” Priyanka emphasizes. “Is authentically her.” “She’s always been the girl wanting to move the needle,” she praises. Priyanka is no stranger to global fame — or to moving the needle — herself. She starred in dozens of Bollywood films before most people in the United States new her name. And, like her friend Meghan, she recently married one of the most famously desirable men on the planet. (Real talk, Priyanka and Nick Jonas are both beautiful, talented, and head-over-heels in love with being famous — they’re a perfect match) It’s wonderful that Priyanka is in a place where she, as a fellow public figure, cna defend her friend against mindless hate. Some people will object to the characterization that much of the criticism of Meghan has been fueled by racism. Those folks are either lying to the world or to themselves. Meghan is a charming, beautiful, polite woman. She and Harry are madly in love and have already produced an heir. Prince William very probably cheated on his wife with a marchioness. The people inventing claims that Meghan is the source of tension between the royal brothers have no excuse. The only non-racist explanation for the hate is a blind resentment because she’s American. That’s better, but not by a whole lot. View Slideshow: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Share Never-Before-Seen Wedding Pics on 1-Year Anniversary

Stormi Webster Spends Day in Hospital. Is She Alright?!?

Kylie Jenner lived every parent’s worst nightmare over the weekend: Her child fell ill, and there was nothing Kylie could do about it. The 21-year old explained what happened in a lengthy and emotional Instagram Story post yesterday, frightening her followers at first but eventually reassuring them that little Stormi was okay.; “Blessed beyond words,” Jenner wrote at first, along with a snapshot of her backyard, adding mysteriously: “Thank you God. I believe in being a reflection of what you’d like to receive. If you want love, give love. If you want success, wish success.” As you might expect, such a message left fans wondering what the heck might have happened to elicit such a response from the reality star, who never really invokes God or religion very often. Jenner then added a photo of a sleeping Stormi, writing along with it a caption explaining the traumatic ordeal mother and daughter experienced over the weekend. “Spent the day in the hospital with my baby. She had an allergic reaction but is 100% okay now and we are home,” she explained. “Nothing else matters when these things happen. God bless all the moms with sick babies. I’m sending so much love and positive energy your way. We’re so very glad Stormi is back at home now and, by the looks of her, resting comfortably and happily. This is the second time in two months that a Kardashian/Jenner young one has been hospitalised due to an allergic reaction. Back in late April, Kim’s son Saint West was rushed to the ER during a family vacation to Palm Springs. Thankfully, he, too, is doing just fine now. Jenenr, meanwhile, may or may not elope with Travis Scott at some point this summer. But she is definitely totally smitten with her 16-month old infant. “I always knew I wanted to be a young mother,” Jenner told Interview Germany in March, adding in more detail: “I remember people used to ask, ‘Are you ready for this?’ “And I always knew I was ready but you don’t know what that love and that feeling is like until after you have a child, but I feel like I was definitely made for this and she has changed my life for the better.” How would Kylie say she has changed overall as a result of delivering Stormi? “The way that I look at things is a lot more positive and I really feel like my life didn’t start until I had her,” she told this same magazine. Despite her extensive experience in advanced retail operations and striking beauty she had never thought she would end up in one of the ads that she was once oversaw the distribution of. Her foray into the limelight started on a dance floor. “It’s kind of a funny story, I was at a party dancing and having a good time and this lady came up to me and asked if I ever thought about modeling,” she told HelloBeautiful in an exclusive interview. “You Next” Project Illustrates The Impact And Influence Of Black Barbershops

See more here:

B lack barbershops have been a central part of Philadelphia native Antonio Johnson ’s life. From childhood to adulthood, they’ve always been intertwined in his journey. He has vivid memories of his early experiences in the barbershop. As a child he would arrive there at 6:00 a.m. to get his haircut by his uncle—who at the time was DJ Jazzy Jeff ’s barber. There were hats on the coat hooks that marked your place in line. He remembers the scent of the alcohol going across his forehead when his haircut was completed and the feeling of invincibility when he left the barber chair. It was in a Philly barbershop owned by a local named Mr. Leon where Johnson—a Morgan State University graduate—picked up a magazine as a teen and learned about the cultural importance of historically Black colleges and universities. While traveling abroad to places like Cuba he learned firsthand that the impact of barbershops transcended geographically and culturally. The culmination of those experiences led to the creation of Johnson’s “You Next” project. For Johnson, Black-owned barbershops nestled in neighborhoods across America have far more value than simply being places where you can get a cut. Barbershops are embedded in the fabric of Black culture. They’ve become safe spaces for crucial conversations and have evolved into establishments for Black wellness. Through his photo project, You Next, Johnson visually captured the influence and impact that these businesses have on the lives of Black men and women. Bringing this project to fruition was no easy feat for Johnson. He came up with the concept for You Next two years ago and made the brave decision to leave his corporate job behind to pursue this project. He knew that You Next was something bigger than himself and wholeheartedly believed that it would be an important contribution to Black culture. “It was really tough. There were a lot of long nights where I thought about whether what I was doing was smart. It took a lot of faith to step out on that limb,” he told NewsOne. “I found inspiration in the journeys of barbers. When you start barbering you have to be confident and trusting of the process. You have to have faith that the community you’re servicing will support you. That’s what pushed me to move forward with the project. The project went through a few iterations. I wanted to create something that was new and reflective of the time that we’re in.” With the help of a Kickstarter campaign that he launched, he was able to move forward with making You Next a reality. College students from the nearby Atlanta University Center share a moment at Philly’s Finest Barber Shop in Atlanta. Credit: Antonio Johnson Johnson has had many memorable experiences along his journey. He’s witnessed toddlers get their first haircut—which he calls a rite of passage—and has been present for some heated barbershop debates about everything from sports to politics. He also got the opportunity to meet Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ’s former barber. Through the project, he’s been to 16 cities—including New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Oakland—and has highlighted over 100 barbershops. Johnson has transformed his photo project into a coffee table book that will feature 250 black and white images that he’s captured and poignant essays from individuals in the barber community, cultural critics, and leading voices in the literary world. The written pieces will cover entrepreneurship, gentrification, faith, and sexuality. It will be published by the Chicago Review Press and is slated to be released in September 2020. An elderly man sits in Atlanta’s Philly’s Finest Barber Shop.  Credit: Antonio Johnson At a time where there is a lot at stake for Black folks socially and politically Johnson says that barbershops are needed now more than ever; especially with the 2020 presidential election approaching. He wants them to be utilized as tools to increase votership among the Black community. Going beyond politics he hopes that discussions about ownership, economic empowerment and wellness practices are brought to more barbershops. Barbershops are often a key to economic freedom for individuals who have been incarcerated. “Barbershops have cultivated a sense of community,” he said. “They are the most important small businesses in our country and when we invest in them the return is strong. The You Next project stands on the shoulders of Black barbers that started their own businesses and have allowed us to look fresh for important life milestones like birthdays, weddings, and even job interviews. You Next celebrates the most important business in our community.” Stay updated about the You Next project through Instagram and visit Antonio Johnson’s website . Lonnie G. Bunch III Makes History As Smithsonian’s First Black Secretary

View post:

E ducator and historian Lonnie G. Bunch III has dedicated his career to the preservation of important facets of American history. After leading the creation and development of the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the Newark native will now serve as the Smithsonian Institution’s 14th secretary; making him the first Black person to be appointed to the position, NPR reported. Smithsonian names Lonnie Bunch III as new secretary, the first African American to lead the institution https://t.co/9e9BhKCGCW — The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) May 28, 2019 Bunch was selected by the Board of Regents to take on the role. He succeeds David Skorton who has served as the institution’s secretary since 2015. In his new position, Bunch will be responsible for steering the direction and driving growth for the Smithsonian as well as overseeing the daily operations of all of its libraries, museums, and the National Zoo. He began his journey with the Smithsonian nearly 30 years ago and has held several executive level positions at the National Museum of American History. When he became the director of the National Museum of African American History and Culture there was only one person on staff and no funding. Through his leadership the museum—which has over 40,000 artifacts that capture the essence of the Black experience—has attracted upwards of 4 million visitors. Bunch has also spearheaded capital campaigns for the Chicago Historical Society where he served as president from 2001 through 2005. One of his goals as secretary of the 173-year-old institution is to keep history relevant in a digital age. He wants the artifacts and information housed in the Smithsonian institutions to foster creativity and innovation. “It is important for the public to view the Smithsonian not simply as an addict of nostalgia, but as a cauldron of ideas of innovation and understanding that can be transformative for our country,” he said in a statement. “It must be an institution that is ripe with technology, an institution better suited to serve 21st century audiences, and an institution of research, of great collections, and of wonder that helps America understand itself and its world.” Bunch is slated to officially start his new position on June 16. Andrei Castravet to Elizabeth: Don’t Terrorize Me With Your Pregnancy!

90 Day Fans have only a couple of days to tear themselves away from Larissa Lima's assault trial verdict and prepare for the new episode. Happily Ever After? returns on Sunday night, and in this clip, Elizabeth tries to put her foot down with Andrei about getting a job. Like, a real job. But Andrei scoffs at her suggestions, and demands that she not “terrorize” him with her pregnancy. Yikes, dude. In this 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? sneak peek, Elizabeth gets assertive about Andrei needing to figure out a means of gainful employment. “I'm fixing up an ad,” Andrei tells a pregnant Elizabeth. “Posting it.” “I'm just fixing it up,” he adds. “I have to add some stuff.” Andrei then tells the camera: “The difference between America and Moldova is life here is more expensive.” “And I think Elizabeth is a little frustrated because we're not having enough income at this point,” he correctly speculates. Andrei seems confident that his alleged handyman skills, the ones that he did not display at their last home, will solve that problem. Meanwhile, Elizabeth talks about how busy she was at work that day. She has real concerns that she will soon reach the point at which, because of her pregnancy, she will have to take time off. Andrei responds to that by making a strange expression, as if Elizabeth is somehow being overly dramatic. This … is not going to endear him to viewers. This isn't endearing him to his wife, either. “I don't really think that Andrei realizes how much this is affecting me,” Elizabeth admits. “And,” she continues. “It's really coming to a point where it's getting to me.” Elizabeth is worried “because I'm only becoming more and more pregnant and more hormonal and exhausted and stressed.” “And,” she correclty expresses. “It shouldn't be that way.” In an apparent attempt to ease the tension that his indolence has created, Andrei offers Elizabeth a drink. “You wanta  beer?” he asks his pregnant wife. “Yes,” Elizabeth answers in a total deadpan. “Please.” “Just messing,” Andrei says, sounding amused with himself. “I know you're pregnant.” Careful, Andrei's next big career move idea might be to try his hand at standup. “So,” Elizabeth asks. “Have you tried asking my dad for a job?” “Oh my God,” Andrei replies. “No,” he says firmly. “I'm not going to ask him.” Her face conveying mountains of frustration, emotional exhaustion, and good ol' fashioned physical exhaustion, Elizabeth asks: “Why?” Andrei's excuse is, frankly, difficult to understand, but it sounds like he thinks that her father will be critical of his work. “Elizabeth's dad, for her, is saving angel,” Andrei assesses, noting that she has gone to her father for assistance. Andrei thinks that, because he's the “man of the house,” this is demeaning to him, which is extremely stupid. “So … you're not gonna ask him,” Elizabeth asks. “It's stupid, Lib!” Andrei exclaims foolishly. Then, she lets him have it. “Your attitude is stupid!” Elizabeth exclaims. “Just ask him for a damn job. It's not that hard.Ask him for a job!” Actual job hunts are extremely difficult, particularly in this hell economy. But Andrei has an opportunity that's knocking and he's ignoring it. “Because of your pride and your ego, you refuse,” Elizabeth notes. “And I'm over here stressed out and pregnant, and have all this weight on my shoulders.” Then Andrei demands: “Don't terrorize me with your pregnancy.” Ugh.

Be Clear: Meghan Markle Has No Time For Y’all President

Read more from the original source:

Source: Max Mumby/Indigo / Getty The Duchess of Sussex has no time for y’all President during his upcoming London trip. According to CBS News , while Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, plan to meet the Royal Family in June, Meghan Markle has decided not to attend any of the festivities. The Royal Family recently announced the details of the trip in a press statement. “The President of the United States, President Donald Trump, accompanied by Mrs. Melania Trump, has accepted an invitation from Her Majesty The Queen to pay a state visit to the United Kingdom,” it reads. Apparently, the visit will last for three days and will include one event which will consist of a private palace lunch and tea with Prince William ,  Kate Middleton ,  Prince Harry  and the Trumps, CBS noted. Once again, Markle cannot and will not be bothered. Granted, she recently gave birth and probably would rather spend time with baby Archie, but she’s also no Trump fan. In a 2016 interview with Comedy Central’s Larry Wilmore , the former Suits actress called then-presidential candidate Trump “divisive.” “Trump is divisive, think about female voters alone, right? I think it was in 2012, the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points; that is a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it…Trump has made it easy to see that you don’t really want that kind of world that he’s painting,” she said. Listen…we don’t blame her. Girl, stay at home with your baby and live your best life. RELATED NEWS: Meghan Markle Gives Birth To Baby Boy!
