Artie Lange: Arrested For Drug Court Violation After 100 Days of Sobriety

Sad news out of the comedy world today, as Radar Online is reporting that troubled comic Artie Lange is headed back to jail following an unspecified probation violation. The news comes just two days after Lange tweeted an encouraging update about his sobriety. “Lange is non-compliant,” said a spokesperson for the Essex County Sheriff’s Office in New Jersey. “Consequently, he will be taken into custody by officers from the Essex County Sheriff’s Office,” the official added. “He will be returned to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.” The representative added that reports of Lange’s progress and commitment to sobriety have been exaggerated, saying: “All the stories gave the impression he was doing great, but that is not the case.” Those positive progress reports included a tweet on Friday that showed Lange, smiling and holding Howard Stern’s latest memoir while working at a New Jersey gas station. “Pumping gas and reading Howard Sterns new book, which is great by the way,” a rep for Lange tweeted on the comic’s behalf. “I read in 2004 Trump interview with me there. I’m reading about the POTUS when a guy yells at me ‘yo fill it with regular’ lol, my crazy life!” Lange was a co-host on Stern’s satellite radio show for several years before being let go as a result of his substance abuse issues. During his press tour for the book, Stern confessed that he felt guilty for firing Lange at a time when his friend was most in need of support. “I get sad talking about Artie. He was a tremendous contributor. But we had to move on,” Stern told The New York Times . “I got my fingers crossed for the guy. And it wasn’t a clean break.” Clearly, Stern joins Lange’s many thousands of loyal fans and comedy colleagues in hoping for the best for Artie — and being continually disappointed by developments like today’s. Lange has been arrested numerous times over the course of the past three years, and on each occasion, his brushes with the law seemed to serve as needed wake up calls. Artie was most recently released from jail  in February, and he immediately headed to an in-patient rehab clinic. He was unable to use social media during his time in treatment, but with the help of friends and representatives, he was able to post encouraging messages about his commitment to recovery. The 51-year-old comic had reportedly accumulated 111 days of sobriety before his latest violation. Our thoughts go out to Lange and his loved ones during this difficult time. Lamar Odom: I Used a Prosthetic Dong to Cheat at the Olympics!

Lamar Odom is back in the news this week, and folks, we’re all better off for it. Odom has a new memoir coming out, and in order to promote the book, he’s been sharing previously-unknown revelations about his wild life and times. We’ve known for quite some time that Odom engaged in all manner of bad behavior off the court, but it turns out his downward spiral was more severe than most of us realized. In the book, Odom confirms that he was a coked-up wild man during his marriage to Khloe Kardashian . The drug use has been well-documented — Odom nearly died from an overdose  in 2015 — but it turns out Lamar’s cheating was just as extreme. Odom claims he’s slept with 2,000 women in his life, and while those aren’t quite Wilt Chamberlain numbers, we’re hoping poor Khloe has been thoroughly tested since ending that disastrous marriage. So obviously, Lamar had trouble keeping it in his pants — but it turns out his penis problems don’t end there. Odom was named to the 2004 US Olympic basketball team, and in the book, he calls his selection “one of the biggest honors in my career.” However, “the joy of being named to the twelve-man roster quickly turned to anxiety when Olympic officials informed me that I would have to pass a drug test before officially joining the team,” he writes. Odom says he was “smoking weed every day that summer” and knew he could never pass a urine test the old-fashioned way — and so, he got creative. “We started googling ‘fake penises’ and studied different ways to beat a drug test,” Odom writes While he says he “was paranoid it wouldn’t work” going into the test, the fraudulent dong apparently did the trick. “(An official) stuck a thermometer in the cup to gauge the temperature … satisfied that the pee was mine, said ‘Welcome to Team USA,’ ” Odom writes. The US team went on to deliver a disappointing performance that year, earning a bronze medal after suffering a shocking loss to Argentina. (No shame in a bronze, but when you have freakin’ Lebron on your team …) But Odom learned a valuable lesson that obviously stuck with him for several years afterward:  No one really wants to take out a magnifying glass and examine your privates, so they’ll mostly just believe whatever sort of dong-related deceptions you can come up with. Words to live by. View Slideshow: Lamar Odom: A Timeline of Tragedy, Love, Loss … and Redemption?!

Game of Thrones Series Finale: Was It Really as Bad as Critics Say It Was?

Well, it’s over. One of the most groundbreaking and beloved series in the history of television came to an end on Sunday night. And for many fans — possibly even the majority — the final assessment is that Game of Thrones ended not with the bang they had hoped for but with a whimper befitting a newly orphaned dragon, one whose grief encapsulated the profound disappointment of fans all over the world. While we’re sure the finale has some ardent defenders, it’s not easy finding positive feedback on social media. Even those who supported the show during its rocky final season seem to have accepted defeat in the end, as the Thrones series finale offered little in the way of dramatic surprises, instead focusing on wrapping up the series’ many dangling plot threads in a perfunctory and largely unsatisfying fashion. Yes, Jon Snow killed Daenerys Targaryen. (Sorry for the lack of a spoiler alert, but if you got this far into an article about an episode you haven’t watched yet, perhaps the blame doesn’t lie entirely with us.) But after the events of “The Bells” was anyone really stunned by that development? As for the other big plot twist that failed to elicit much in the way of an emotional response, Bran was named to the Iron Throne, which was satisfying in some respects — characters with profound physical disabilities rarely get to enjoy heroic moments on TV — but maddening in others. (He has a better story than his sister, the shape-shifting, ultra-stealth assassin who just saved the freakin’ world? Really?!) On Twitter, memes expressing the profound disappointment of millions was evident in the endless barrage of hot takes and disparaging memes. Some took the opportunity to reflect on the series as a whole, and many of those fans concluded that GoT began to falter when showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss ran out of source material and began expanding on George R.R. Martin’s story without the aid of his novels to guide them. But are we simply demanding too much from a series whose most egregious sin may have been setting the bar too high in its early seasons? It’s tempting, at this point, to draw parallels between GoT and previous acclaimed series whose finales were better received. Breaking Bad seemed to have been the favorite standard-bearer on Twitter last night, but that’s an unfair comparison for a number of reasons. For starters, Bad — while a fine show in its own right — never attempted anything nearly as ambitious as Game of Thrones . Furthermore, it’s important to bear in mind that Walter White’s last stand was not universally well-received back in 2013. (Many rightly argued that the character got off far too easy, given all the atrocities he’d committed over the course of his transformation from likable every man to villainous kingpin.) The point here is not to disparage a deservedly acclaimed series like Bad , but to point out that it’s always been difficult for beloved series to stick the landing, and that challenge may have become even more daunting in the prestige TV era, as showrunners attempt to subvert tropes and offer something new to increasingly sophisticated audiences, while at the same time being burdened by greater-than-ever expectations. In the case of Thrones , those expectations were compounded by the fact that no series has ever prompted quite so much debate and dissection on social media. As a result, the best way to stand out when tweeting about Game of Thrones is to lean heavily on hyperbole. Thus, a disappointing finale quickly becomes the worst series finale in television history . It’s just the nature of the social media beast in 2019. As we said, very few are arguing that Game of Thrones delivered a finale that lived up to the unprecedented hype that surrounded the show’s final season. And we’re certainly not making that argument here. But it’s worth remembering that over the course of its eight-season run, GoT accomplished things that no other series ever even attempted. And many of the complaints about its final episodes were not about the plot developments themselves (although Daenerys’ conversion to war criminal understandably did not sit well with many) but with the hurried and hasty fashion in which they took place. There’s been much debate over who’s primarily at fault for this rushed conclusion, though the consensus seems to be that Benioff, Weiss, Martin, and HBO all share some of the blame, No Game of Thrones finale would have left every viewer feeling satisfied, but fans were right to expect a show that’s killed off so many characters to be a bit more skillful in its final execution. Even so, we’re doing our best to move on from this bad breakup focus on the many, many highlights of one of the most transformative series of all time. And now our watch is ended. What a time we had. New Book Highlights The Legacy Of Black Cyclist Marshall Taylor

Read the original post:

A n unsung Black athlete is finally getting the recognition that he deserves. Marshall ‘Major’ Taylor —a man who dominated cycling during the late 1800s—is being highlighted in a new book, Chicago PBS reported. Taylor was the world’s fastest athlete at the turn of the 20th century in a sport for which the wheels were just beginning to turn in the U.S. — cycling. https://t.co/JBxAIygShB — WTTW (Chicago PBS) (@wttw) May 15, 2019 The book, titled The World’s Fastest Man: The Extraordinary Life of Cyclist Major Taylor , America’s First Black Sports Hero , was penned by political reporter Michael Kranish . It delves into the racism that Taylor faced while competing during that era. Due to Jim Crow laws, he was banned from participating in several competitions and endured racially charged physical attacks during races. Taylor—who at one point was the world’s fastest cyclist—didn’t let the racial discrimination that he experienced deter him from cycling. In fact, he used all of the negative experiences as fuel to push forward and understood that what he was doing was something bigger than himself; he was opening up doors for generations of Black athletes to follow in his footsteps. Many star athletes would follow suit and lend their voices to social and political issues including Jackie Robinson , Muhammad Ali , Colin Kaepernick , LeBron James and Serena Williams . “He really was a civil rights icon for his day,” Kranish said in a statement. “He wrote extensively about racing not just for his glory. He wanted to show that if he could win a fair match against whites, that any Black could compete and triumph whatever field they tried, if they were given a fair shot.” Taylor is also the inspiration behind a new art exhibit slated to be unveiled next month. Artist Kadir Nelson —known for doing the cover art for rapper Drake ’s Nothing Was the Same album—will create a bronze sculpture of Taylor that will be on display at 3 World Trade Center. Tyga Used to Be Married to Tristan Thompson’s First Baby Mama and Everyone is Like, Come on Now!

That’s it! We give up! We give in! It can now be deemed official: We’ve heard absolutely everything. Just when we thought that it was impossible to be shocked by anything at this point, considering all the utterly insane nonsense we read on a daily basis as celebrity news purveyors, the following story comes to our attention: Tyga was once married to Jordan Craig. Allow us to elucidate why this revelation is perhaps more stunning than Kim Kardashian naming a child Psalm . In 2011, Tyga started dating Blac Chyna . The stars welcomed their first child, son King Cairo, in October of 2012, prior to splitting in 2014. The following year, Tyga started dating Kylie Jenner . These two broke in 2017 and Jenner went on to date Travis Scott, with whom she had a daughter, Stormi Webster, in February 2018. Following along? Okay, good… In 2016, meanwhile, Black Chyna started dating Kylie’s brother, Rob Kardashian . They got engaged after just a few months as a couple and welcomed a daughter, Dream Kardashian, in November of 2016. Months later, the two called it quits. So that completes the Tyga branch of this effed up and confusing family dating and baby tree. On a literally related note, back in 2014, Tristan Thompson got together with Craig . The basketball player broke up with his model girlfriend toward the end of 2016 — when she was pregnant with their son and because he had started dating Khloe Kardashian . Craig, pictured above, gave birth to a boy named Prince in December of 2016 . Khloe then gave birth to Tristan’s second child, a daughter named True, in April of 2018. About a year later, Khloe dumped Thompson after he was caught cheating on her one too many times. Still following along? Don’t worry, there won’t be a test. These relationships all seemed incestuous enough… and that was before TMZ obtained legal documents that prove Tyga married Craig on September 6, 2010. The rapper filed for divorce exactly one month later and the split was finalized in 2011. Jordan, even added Tyga’s real last name (Stevenson) to her own after the marriage and dropped it after it ended. Did we also mention that, in recent weeks, Tyga began liking Jordan’s Instagram photos? We didn’t see this former marriage coming, but we did report a couple days ago that Thompson and Tyga seemed to actually be fighting over Craig . “Tristan is furious after he was told by a friend that Tyga was creeping on Jordan’s social media,” an insider close to the situation told Hollywood Life this past week. But now said creeping makes a lot more sense. And what’s even crazier is that Thompson apparently has no right to be upset — because Tyga had Craig first! Who would have guessed? This is sheer madness, people. View Slideshow: 13 Men Whose Lives Were Ruined By the Kardashians

“LHHATL’s” Stevie J Fears For Daughter Bonnie’s Safety, Asks Judge For Primary Custody & Child Support From Joseline! (Exclusive)

Source: Johnny Louis / Getty Former “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” Couple Back In Court Over Toddler Bonnie Bella Reality star Stevie J says he’s concerned for his youngest daughter’s safety and has asked a judge to award him full custody of the girl while accusing his former co-star and lover Joseline Hernandez of purposely cutting him out of their daughter’s life. The former Bad Boy producer filed a flurry of court documents earlier this week alleging that Hernandez committed “parental alienation” after she hightailed it to Miami to shack up with another guy. Jordan said his daughter’s mother won’t let him visit the now three year old, speak to her on the phone or have a say in her day to day upbringing – which are all violations of their paternity agreement. Jordan said that Hernandez has blocked him from doing things like participating in the little girl’s academic life and she refuses to communicate with him about the girl’s development – even their Miami address, his court filing – which was obtained by BOSSIP – states. Interestingly, Jordan also claimed that he fears for Bonnie’s safety and well being, and has asked the judge to appoint a “guardian ad litem” whose job is to represent Bonnie Bella’s best interests and eventually report their findings to the judge. He says he is more financially and mentally stable to care for the little girl, and has a safe and loving home to raise Bonnie in with new wife, Faith Evans, his adult children and extended family, according to court documents. Source: David Becker / Getty Bonnie Bella was born in December 2016 amid a nasty breakup between her parents that devolved into an acrimonious paternity battle. Each side accused the other in family court of drug abuse, cheating and violence. But last year, both Hernandez and Jordan agreed to Hernandez having primary physical custody of Bonnie, with Jordan getting weekend visitation and a say on things like her schooling, healthcare, religion and extracurricular activities, court documents say. The “Leave It To Stevie” star said that Bonnie and his relationship has ultimately suffered because of Hernandez’s actions, and he wants a judge to punish her. He also wants Hernandez to pay child support to him if the judge awards him primary custody. We’ve reached out to both Hernandez and Jordan’s lawyers for comment. A judge has yet to rule on Jordan’s request.

Cops Kill People: Arlington, Texas Cop Fired And Charged With Criminally Negligent Homicide Of Unarmed Black Man

Source: Robert Alexander / Getty Texas Cop Fired For Killing Unarmed Black Man While we’re glad that this cop is facing a real punishment for taking the life of a Black man, we can’t help be wish this was the rule and not the exception. According to NYPost , an Arlington, Texas police officer, Bau Tran, was fired and charged with the criminally negligent homicide of 24-year-old O’Shae Terry last September. Texas isn’t exactly a place where police are held to a standard of accountability when it comes to violence against people, but especially people of color. Tran shot Terry on Sept. 1 after another officer pulled the Forest Hill resident over on a registration violation. After talking for several minutes, body camera footage shows Tran grabbing the passenger-side window of the SUV Terry was driving as it begins to roll up. The officer stepped on to the vehicle’s running board as it started to move, pointed his gun into the SUV and fired multiple shots. Terry later died at a hospital. Tran was initially placed on restrictive duty, but then placed on leave after the grand jury indicted that a$$. Good riddance. Take some of your bacon-scented buddies with you.

Hailey Baldwin Catches Justin Bieber Texting Selena Gomez, Flips the Eff Out!

Earlier this month, we heard reports that Justin Bieber was ignoring his wife to chat with Selena Gomez . We didn’t want to believe it, for Hailey’s sake — or, frankly, for Selena’s. But a new report says that Hailey discovered that Justin was chatting with Selena behind her back. And she went ballistic . According to RadarOnline , Hailey Baldwin “exploded” when she looked through her famous husband’s cell phone. “Justin is constantly talking about Selena,” an insider reports. Pro tip: Discussions of your ex — especially your most serious ex — can often be a sore subject around your new spouse. “And Hailey is at her boiling point with all of this,” the source expresses. The discovery of their alleged communications, however, pushed things over the edge. Apparently, Hailey was doing her level best to make peace with Justin’s reported fixation on Selena. “But” the insider claims. “When she caught Justin with Selena texts on his phone last week,” that all changed. “Hailey absolutely lost it,” the source reports. “And,” the insider adds, Hailey even personally “reached out to Selena.” The source explains that she made this contentious contact. “to tell her to stay away from her man!” Shockingly, the insider claims that Selena “laughed” at Hailey’s attempt to set a boundary. “Selena thinks all of this is just hilarious,” the source reports. The insider explains that Selena allegedly holds this opinion “because she knows that Justin will always love her.” “And,” the source adds, Selena supposedly knows “that Hailey is disposable.” “The worst part,” the insider opines. “Is that Hailey knows this too.” “There is truly nothing that Hailey can do to change how Justin feels,” the source laments. Other people’s feelings are their own, and out of our control. For that matter, some people can’t even control their own feelings! “He is talking to Selena again,” the insider emphasizes. “And,” the source adds. “The two of them are on good terms.” It sounds like Jelena shippers, at the very least, don’t think that Justin’s marriage to a whole other person means much. Not in the long run, anyway. “Hailey is a small blip in his life,” the insider cruelly characterizes. “And,” the source claims. “Everyone knows that it is just a matter of time before she is out of the picture.” Wow, that is cold. But … is it true? At the risk of stealing Gossip Cop ‘s schtick, this just doesn’t add up to a true story. We don’t know what this alleged source heard or didn’t hear. Maybe Hailey is insecure in her marriage because of how quickly it happened and how unorthodox it was, at times. But we cannot for the life of us imagine Selena Gomez cheerfully gloating over Hailey’s misery. For one thing, Selena is the one who ended things, and it’s believed that she did so last time because she realized that Justin hadn’t really changed. Justin’s indecision and personal issues don’t mean that Selena feels the same way. We hope that Hailey knows that.
