Mo Money: Fugees Co-Founder Pras Michel Indicted For Illegal Donations To Obama Campaign

Source: Slaven Vlasic / Getty Pras Michel Charged In Obama Campaign Donation Scheme Former Fugees member Pras Michel has been charged with campaign finance violations that took place during the 2012 United States presidential race. According to the four-count indictment, Pras has been accused of funneling foreign money to a super PAC that allegedly supported Barack Obama’s reelection campaign. According to reports from TMZ , the legal document doesn’t specifically mention Obama’s name, but does point to a number of instances where the artist was photographed with the former president. Federal prosecutors are accusing the Fugees co-founder of conspiring with Malaysian businessman Jho Low to hide the source of these funds. The scheme is said to have involved using falsified records to funnel millions of dollars from foreign accounts to the U.S. That money ended up being split up among “straw donors,” who would then proceed to make small, more discreet donations to the PAC over time. “Mr. Michel is extremely disappointed that so many years after the fact the government would bring charges related to 2012 campaign contributions,” Pras’ attorney Barry Pollack said about the incident in a statement to CNN . “Mr. Michel is innocent of these charges and looks forward to having the case heard by a jury.” Michel is facing charges of conspiracy, making a false statement, and two counts of falsifying records. Pras and Low were both named in the DOJ’s investigation of the 1Malaysia Development Brand scandal. “According to the allegations in the complaint, Michel and [former Justice Department official George Higginbotham] defrauded U.S. financial institutions and laundered millions of dollars into the United States as part of an effort to improperly influence the Department’s investigation into the massive embezzlement and bribery scheme involving 1MDB,” Assistant Attorney General Benczkowski  said in 2018 . “The Criminal Division and our law enforcement partners will do everything we can to trace, seize, and forfeit the proceeds of foreign corruption that flow through the U.S. financial system.”

Ariel Winter Responds to Plastic Surgery Accusations on Instagram!

Okay, so after years of hype, winter never really came to Westeros — but did it show up at a Malibu plastic surgeon’s office instead? Yes, that’s our extremely lame way of introducing the latest round of Ariel Winter plastic surgery accusations. Interest in Ariel’s sitcom may be dwindling as Modern Family wraps up its 47th season, but on social media, the actress’ influence continues to grow.  Unfortunately, accumulating 4 million Instagram followers means being subject to a LOT of scrutiny, and because social media in 2019 is basically an open manhole, all that attention is gonna result in a whole lot of hateful comments. Sadly, Ariel is no stranger to body shaming, but fortunately, she typically wards off the trolls with surprising skill. But this latest round of trash talk is surprisingly specific, and bullies who really put a lot of thought into their idiocy are often the most dangerous kind. Ariel looks different in some of her recent pics, but that’s only because of her Little Mermaid-hued locks. (That name-appropriate comparison is hers, not ours. She captioned the above pic, “part of yourrrrrr worrrrrld”) But some extremely-online jackass who fancies himself a celebrity sleuth believes there’s more to the story. And thus, in what he probably considered some consummate act of d-bag bravery he “called out” Ariel and accused her of undergoing cosmetic surgery. “How many surgeries have you had on your body and face now?” sayeth the basement-dwelling goblin. When other followers pointed out that Ariel has spoken openly about her breast reductions and does not appear to have had any other work done, the troll presented his case in full: “Two breast reductions, that’s obvious, cheek bone and chin shaving and lip fillers. Pretty obvious, she looks so different #Truth,” he replied. Wow. He used the #Truth hashtag, so it has to be true, right? Yeah, not so much.  Ariel was quick to clap back and point out that nothing dude said has any basis in fact. “I wasn’t going to reply but I HAVE to ask…what the f–k is cheek bone and chin shaving????” Winter remarked, adding: “You’re also wrong about all of it by the way. One breast reduction & I lost weight but you do you boo.” That’s how you do it folks: Keep your sense of humor intact, set the record straight, and move on. Sure, there are times when it’s best to simply not acknowledge the haters at all. But to paraphrase Dr. Hunter S. Thompson, sometimes it’s important to not take any guff from these swine. Wendy Williams to Mistresses Everywhere: Prepare to Rot in Hell!

Wendy Williams may be done with her cheating husband. But she isn’t done with the concept of cheaters in general, as the talk show host made clear this morning on the latest episode of her daytime program. One month after Williams finally filed to divorce Kevin Hunter , who has admitted to stepping out his wife multiple times with different women, Wendy said the following on air Friday: “There are a lot of women with no respect for a marriage. “You know what I’m saying? A lot of women who know your man is married and will have the nerve to be right up under him, right under your nose.” Williams went off on this rant in response to Ayesha Curry‘s frustrations over females who have tried to cross boundaries with her husband Steph Curry – even while Ayesha is standing right next to the basketball legend. Wendy promptly shared a snippet from Ayesha’s interview with Jada Pinkett Smith on Red Table Talk, where she recounted an incident in which a fan “crossed the line with her,” explaining in more detail: “We wanted to buy bikes one day … [daughter] Riley, at the time, she’s less than a year old. And this group of people come over, they’re trying to ask Steph for pictures and autographs. “The woman opens the car door, sticks her body in the car and is just like, ‘Oh, let me see.’ And I’m like, ‘No, no, get out of the car.’ “And she goes, ‘Oh, honey, you know what you signed up for.’” Williams immediately shared her opinion on such groupies. “For you lonely girls who can’t keep their hands off other people’s men, there’s a hot place in hell for you,” the host said sharply She’s not really talking about Ayesha and Steph Curry here, though, of course. She’s talking about Hunter and Sharina Hudson, the mistress with whom her estranged husband has been sleeping for years . Rumors have circulated for a very long time about this affair, but they took on a disturbing life of their own after Hudson actually gave birth to Hunter’s baby this spring . Williams, a former hard drug user, responded to this development by falling off the wagon, getting drunk and getting rushed to the hospital. Thankfully, she eventually collected herself and kicked Hunter to the curb. At last. “The split is definitely due to Kevin’s ongoing infidelity and that his mistress recently welcomed their child,” a source told People Magazine. “Wendy had hired a private investigator and confronted him. He confessed to everything three weeks ago.” He confessed to nearly everything in public, too. “28 years ago I met an amazing woman: Wendy Williams. At the time, I didn’t realize that she would not only become my wife, but would also change the face of entertainment and the world,” said Hunter in mid-April , perhaps laying it on a bit too thick. He continued: “I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally.” And he concluded: I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans. I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs. No matter what the outcome is or what the future holds, we are still The Hunter Family and I will continue to work with and fully support my wife in this business and through any and all obstacles she may face living her new life of sobriety, while I also work on mine I ask that you please give me and my family privacy as we heal. Thank you. Williams has fully come to her senses, sources confirm. She has fired Hunter as a producer on her talk show and she vows not to give him a dime in the divorce settlement. 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? has returned with Season 4. Once again, Larissa Lima is back on our televisions, where her conflicts with Colt Johnson rage on. In hindsight, their squabbles from that time seem so small, relatively, compared to their marriage's catastrophic conclusion. But one fight had a dramatic, permanent impact on their relationship: when Larissa allegedly flushed her ring down the toilet. We know that she was mad at Colt (who isn't?). But did she really flush her ring, or was that a claim to hurt Colt or shock viewers? Larissa is opening up about what really happened and sharing further details about the ring. 1. Did Larissa really flush her ring? Reality television can include an unbelievable amount of drama, but some can’t help wondering if Larissa merely flushed an empty toilet to upset Colt, or if the entire storyline was concocted by producers for an extra dose of drama. 2. This season, their messy marriage is all out in the open We saw their conflicts on 90 Day Fiance when they were merely engaged. Then, we saw their meltdowns and their scandals on Instagram. 3. Hannah Brown: Why Do Fans Think She’ll Be the Worst Bachelorette in the Show’s History?

We’re just days away from the premiere of Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette , and as expected, the ABC promotional machine is going full steam ahead. As part of the effort to drum up interest and remind fans of what drew them to the series in the first place, host Chris Harrison presided over the largest-ever Bachelorette reunion — a gathering of most of the stars from the show’s previous 14 seasons. But it seems that for many, the reunion special (which debuted Wednesday night) had the opposite of its intended effect. The sight of all those beloved Bachelorettes of yore reminded some viewers that Hannah Brown is a very … untraditional choice for the wildly popular dating competition. In the past, the show mostly played it safe when choosing the woman who will be handing out the roses. However, the decision to cast Hannah was so controversial that even some of the franchise’s biggest stars felt the need to speak out. “This is a little intimidating for her. It’s a little scary, it’s a little wild and she isn’t prepped for it,” said former Bachelor star Ben Higgins (though he later retracted his comments). “It’s just random. Like, why?” Corrine Olympios said when asked for her thoughts on Hannah’s casting. “It’s, like, there’s nothing there that would have made me be like, ‘I need to see her again on TV. I need to see her find love.’ Like, she wasn’t even someone that I was like, ‘I want her to find love.’” Even beloved Season 13 star Rachel Lindsay questioned the decision of choosing Hannah as the show’s star, stating: “She wasn’t my first choice or my favorite.” During her stint on The Bachelor , there were times when it seemed that Hannah herself questioned whether she belonged on camera. Her conflict with fellow contestant Caelynn Miller-Keyes often left her in tears, and at various times she dubbed herself a “hot mess” and a “beast” (the latter caught on as an endearing nickname). So why would producers choose her to star in her own season of a show that relies heavily on the charisma of its central lead? Well, for starters, most of the criticism against Hannah is based on subjective observations about her personality, so allow us to go to bat for the former beauty queen: Hannah possesses an awkward, self-deprecating charm seldom found in reality stars (particularly ones whose first taste of the limelight came from competing in pageants). There’s no denying that she’s different from what we’ve seen previously — but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, particularly when it comes to reality shows that long ago surpassed the one-decade mark. The pop cultural landscape in which The Bachelor and The Bachelorette first premiered is markedly different from the one we live in today. Potential viewers have much, much more on their plate with regard to entertainment options, and as a result, long-running network reality series are a dying breed. And so, Harrison and company made the savvy decision to adapt. With Colton Underwood, they gave us something entirely new — a 26-year-old virgin prone to emotional outbursts and episodes of intense self-doubt. The result was one of the show’s more entertaining seasons in recent memory. So are viewers more willing to tolerate idiosyncrasy in men than in women? Most likely, but that doesn’t change the fact that Hannah seems likely to offer up something new and compelling to those who are willing to give her a chance. Daenerys Targaryen: Is the Khaleesi the Real Villain of Game of Thrones?!

Well, we’re just over one week away from the series finale of Game of Thrones . The bad news, of course, is that in a few short days, we’ll never again have another new episode of GoT to dissect, obsess over, and argue about. The good news is that after eight seasons of twists, turns, betrayals, and bloodshed, we’ll finally get to find out who wins the battle for the Iron Throne. From the very start, it was widely assumed that a fan favorite would emerge victorious in the end. Daenerys Targaryen and Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen were considered the frontrunners, of course, but if we were to bear witness to an unexpected chain of events that put Arya Stark or even Tyrion Lannister in the seat of power, that ending would likely be embraced by viewers, as well. Fortunately, George R.R. Martin and showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have never given a damn about what the fans want. And to quote Theon Greyjoy’s sadistic tormentor Ramsay Bolton, “if you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention.” Over the course of the past several episodes, we’ve seen Daenerys slowly stripped of just about everything meaningful in her life. She lost another one of her dragons, as well as her best friend and confidant, Missandei, who was brutally executed right before her eyes. On top of that, she’s now burdened with the knowledge that her lover and biggest supporter has revealed himself to be her nephew and the rightful heir to the throne she so covets. Obviously, all of this has taken a tremendous toll on the Khaleesi, the Breaker of Chains, and the Bearer of About 17 Other Official Titles. The change in her mindset has been so extreme that it’s begun to manifest itself physically. In ” The Last of the Starks ,” Dany sneers and spits venomous responses to those who challenge her, often while wearing more red — the official color of House Targaryen and its “Mad King” Aerys — then we’ve ever seen her in before. Her slow transformation from virtuous egalitarian to power-hungry despot-in-the-making has been masterfully portrayed by Emilia Clarke. And now many fans are wondering where it’s all headed. Nothing about the show up to this point has pointed to a conclusion in which the good guys win and justice prevails. Still, having been conditioned by decades of TV show storylines that played out along more crowd-pleasing arcs, we find ourselves expecting exactly that. But what if, as Dany prepares to lead her troops into “the Last War” against Cersei Lannister and her assembled forces, she’s not the one we should be rooting for? That’s not to say that Cersei has been a low-key hero all the while — it’s possible that there’s no one we should be rooting for, or that a third party will emerge as the GoT’s rightful protagonist. But whatever the case, it seems increasingly clear that Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen is not the ruler that the long-suffering people of Westeros deserve. Clarke stated this week that Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 is her favorite of the entire series. (As with every episode this season, its title won’t be revealed until the moment it premieres.) That could mean we’re in store for another epic military campaign on par with the Battle of Winterfell . But it might also mean we’re soon to bear witness to a tour de force performance as one of GoT’s most beloved characters finally breaks bad.

Speaking about fatherhood and raising his daughter Nova in an interview with Global Grind , the Power actor says that night he was just worried about his baby girl because she’d scratched her cornea. Omari says both Beyoncé and Jay-Z asked about Nova that night, which then led to an extended chat with Hov and the viral moment with Bey. From Global Grind : Criticized for how he interacted with Beyoncé at the award show, Omari had yet to discuss the moment publicly until explaining during our interview that, that night he was simply a worried father thanking his friends who’d expressed concern for his daughter throughout the night. “She has ironically been injured in two very historical moments for me,” Omari told  Global Grind  when asked about Nova. “Her cornea was scratched the night of the Image Awards. The length of [my] talk with Jay was him asking me about her eye. The length of the hug with Bey was her asking about her eye. I give the speech and I bring up her eye,” he recalls. Describing another moment when his daughter was hurt, Omari went on to tell us Nova’s head had been “busted by her little brother.” “Her eye is scratched by him the night of the Image Awards. A month to maybe a month and a half later, within the time of Nipsey’s death (who was a friend), now her head is busted,” he said, eyes wide with panic. “So, being a father of a daughter, makes it to where the MET experience for me might’ve been the most slow motion, beautifully embraced reality… walking through those long halls of that gallery… because I was thinking so much, on that long walk through those artifacts, about Nova. I kept thinking about Nova,” he revealed, referencing his appearance alongside Dapper Dan at the 2019 MET Gala earlier this week. Omari also said Jay is like a big bro, so there’s no way he wouldn’t show Beyoncé love. In an earlier sidebar, Omari explained that while the world knows him as Ghost, Jay-Z knows him as a little brother, saying “Jay-Z would’ve punched me in my face if I didn’t hug his wife.
