The guy even went on to compare his situation to Hannah dating Colton Underwood before becoming the Bachelorette, an idea that really made no sense whatsoever. She was with someone before and is now single. That’s just how life works. Scott has backup options just waiting for his call! Having heard enough, Hannah trashed Scott as a “jerk” and swiftly threw him out of the house. The Bachelorette then told the remaining men to go home if they had similar circumstances, making it very clear they weren’t dealing with some pushover this season. Thankfully, no one else could relate to Scott. And some of these 30 aspiring husbands proved to be rather creative and funny upon their introductions: Connor S. jumped a fence, a sly reference to Colton doing the same on The Bachelor …. Devin lied about being a virgin, also mocking poor Colton… Joe leaped out of a box… and Cam did a freestyle rap. Prior to entering the mansion for the cocktail party Hannah paused to say a prayer. She then said that she had a slight crush on Jed after he sang her a “Roll Tide” ballad because Hannah hails from Alabama — and she shared kisses with Luke P., Connor S. and Cam! As for who earned the First Impression Rose? It went to a 24-year-old Import/Export Manager who showed off his shirtless physique in his introductory clip and who met Hannah back during the After the Rose special several weeks ago. “I think I’m a good looking guy,” this stud told the camera with a smile and laugh. “When I was in college, a lot of the girls around me thought so too.” This same person is from Gainesville, Georgia and said on air that God spoke to him in the shower once and that he changed his focus in life as a result and has been “working on the husband that I want to be for my future wife.” He also was the first person to comfort Hannah after she sent Scott packing. Well, it finally happened. On Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, First of Her Name and Perpetrator of Plot Twists broke bad and roasted more peasants than a medeival insult comic. Like many, many others, we long ago predicted that the Khaleesi would make a heel turn and be revealed as the show’s final villain, but if Twitter is any indication, the events of “The Bell” came as a complete shock to many viewers. In one sense, this is hard to understand, as the show has been hinting at a darker side to Dany ever since her very first rants about “laying waste to armies” and taking what’s hers “with fire and blood” way back when her dragons were about the size of pet iguanas. But at the same time, the surprise is quite understandable. After all, prior to this week’s episode, the Khaleesi was arguably the show’s best-loved character, and many considered her ascendancy to the Iron Throne to he a foregone conclusion. As a result, creator’s D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have been accused of prioritizing shock value over organic character development with their decision to have Dany embrace her family’s mercurial nature and unleash unspeakable violence on innocenr civilians and soldiers who had already surrendered. If that were the case — if a character who had been built up as the savior of a people and an incorruptible force for good suddenly embracec wickedness out of nowhere — then these critics would be right to complain. But Dany’s turn was hinted at so often that many speculate it would never happen simply because it would be too predictable for a show that’s always trafficked in surprises. So yes, you have one camp griping that the character’s shift came out of nowhere, and another complaining that it was entirely too obvious. And in that sense, the clash over Dany’s true nature highlights the biggest challenge facing the Game of Thrones as we approach the show’s wildly anticipated finale: It’s nearly impossible for any show to conclude in a way that will leave an audience of millions universally satisfied — and that task is even harder for a series that revels in moral ambiguity and long ago raised the bar in terms of gut-punch surprises. Don’t get us wrong, there were legitimate complaints to be made about “The Bells”: Several major figures behaved in ways that flew in the face of eight seasons’ worth of character development. Some combatants seemed to be shrouded in impenetrable plot armor (We’re looking at you, Arya!) while others met frustratingly anti-climactic fates. (Evil genius Cersei Lannister is felled by freakin’ falling rocks? Really?) But the main issue that many fans seem worried about is the climactic battle for the Iron Throne will likely be fought between Daenerys Targaryen and her conflicted neph-boo Jon Snow. This is a baffling concern, not only becsause the show has been foreshadowing such a conflict for quite some time, but also because Weiss and Benioff insist that they’re staying true to the “broadstrokes” of the ending mapped out by George R.R. Martin’s several years ago. Yes, they’ve made some missteps along the way (The less said about the lighting for the Battle of Winterfell, the better.), but we’ll continue to place our faith that the kings who led us this far will be wise and just in wrapping up TV’s most ambitious story. Just over a month after Felicity Huffman agreed to plead guilty to charges of fraud for her role in the nationwide college admissions scandal , the veteran actress officially entered her plea on Monday, May 13. Wearing a dark coat and a pleated dress, the former Desperate Housewives star did so inside of a courtroom in Boston, multiple outlets have confirmed. In response to Huffman’s plea, prosecutors have recommended a four-month jail sentence. But, on a later date, a judge will have final say over the star’s exact punishment. Huffman has admitted to paying $15,000 to admissions consultant William “Rick” Singer and his nonprofit organization, Key Worldwide Foundation. A federal indictment has alleged that this so-called charity was really just a front for accepting bribes, however. Singer then facilitated cheating on Huffman’s oldest daughter’s SAT test by having a proctor correct the teen’s answers after the fact. Over two dozen wealthy individuals were snared in this operation, with Huffman and fellow Lori Loughlin the most well-known among them. While addressing Judge Indira Talwani on Monday, Huffman broke down in tears explaining that her daughter really had been seeing a neuropsychologist since the age of eight and had been receiving extra time on exams since she was 11. She told the judge that neither her daughter nor the neuropsychologist had any knowledge of the bribery scheme. At one point, witnesses inside the courtroom confirm, Huffman grew so emotional about her error in judgment that she needed a minute to compose herself. Huffman broke her silence on the scandal on April 8, announcing that she planned to plead guilty and accepting full responsiblity for her actions. “I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions,” she said in a statement. It continued: “I am ashamed of the pain I have caused my daughter, my family, my friends, my colleagues and the educational community. “I want to apologize to them and, especially, I want to apologize to the students who work hard every day to get into college, and to their parents who make tremendous sacrifices to support their children and do so honestly.” She then turned her attention to Sophia, the 18-year old daughter for whom Huffman paid to have test scores altered: “My daughter knew absolutely nothing about my actions, and in my misguided and profoundly wrong way, I have betrayed her. “This transgression toward her and the public I will carry for the rest of my life. My desire to help my daughter is no excuse to break the law or engage in dishonesty.” The ex-American Crime star and husband William H. Macy, who got married in 1997, are also parents of 17-year-old daughter Georgia. While Huffman allegedly “made arrangements to pursue the scheme for a second time” for her younger daughter, she ultimately opted “not to do so,” per legal documents. Under her plea deal, Huffman is prohibited from running for office, owning a firearm and ammunition, and faces other restrictions. She will return to court for her sentencing on September 13. Loughlin, meanwhile, has taken the opposite approach from Huffman. She has not pleaded guilty and plans on fighting all fraud and bribery charges against her, despite these accusations being extreme in nature. The former Full House cast member is accused of shelling out $500,000 as part of an elaborate scheme to pretend that her two daughters were on their high school rowing team. In exchange, Singer arranged for an official at the University of California to place the young women on the school’s athletic recruitment list — thereby lowering their admission standards. Both teenagers were subsequently accepted to this college. After the actress and husband Mossimo Giannulli, rejected a plea deal in April, they were hit with additional charges of money laundering conspiracy They now face 40 years in prison .

N ew York City rush hour traffic was literally brought to a halt Monday morning ahead of administrative trial for the police officer who killed Eric Garner nearly five years ago. NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo , who has not only avoided being arrested for the flagrant killing caught on video but also managed to secure a lucrative salary boost in the interim, could be fired if found guilty. In anticipation of the ruling, protesters took to a major highway in Manhattan to bring attention to something they say should have been done immediately following the death caused by the use of a chokehold that the NYPD bans its officers from using. That questionable decision could provide a hint at what to expect from Pantaleo’s trial. Garner was approached by undercover NYPD officers on July 17, 2014, for the alleged offense of selling untaxed loose cigarettes. When officers failed at handcuffing him for the nonviolent misdemeanor, Pantaleo was caught on video with his arms wrapped tightly around Garner’s neck from behind. The chokehold ultimately killed Garner. The entire deadly episode was captured on cellphone video and filmed by a bystander. Garner’s final words “I can’t breathe” — became a rallying call for social justice advocates who saw his death as a murder. The New York Police Department (NYPD) only began disciplinary proceedings against Officer Daniel Pantaleo in June of 2018. A grand jury decided not to indict Pantaleo and the Department of Justice declined to bring a civil rights case against him. A 60-year-old grandmother from Philadelphia is living proof that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. A few years ago, Rhonda E. Davis made it a priority to go back to school and get her college degree and she went above and beyond her goal by not only earning two degrees from Cheyney University but graduating as the institution’s Class of 2019 valedictorian, Philly.com reported. This 60-year-old Philly grandmother lived in the dorms at Cheyney. Pursuing her education was no easy feat. Davis’ mother had her at the age of 16. She was the oldest of six children and once she was a teenager she had to start working to help provide for her younger siblings. Her education was ultimately put on the back burner. Davis eventually started a family of her own and once her kids got older and her husband started working with SEPTA, she wanted to try something new and believed that education was the answer. After telling her husband that she planned on going to college to earn her degree, he decided to leave her. The lack of support didn’t stop the grandmother of 11 from going after what she wanted. She was awarded a scholarship through Cheyney University’s Keystone Honors Academy. Davis left her Southwest Philadelphia house and lived on campus where she became a source of inspiration for many of her fellow students. She would often tutor other students and give them advice about staying on the right track. At Cheyney, Davis displayed academic excellence. She earned a degree in graphic design and one in fine arts and finished with a 3.97 GPA. Her children and grandchildren were all in attendance at her commencement ceremony and her mother live-streamed the event from her Virginia Beach home. For Davis, the graduation was a full circle moment. She visited the HBCU in the 70s and loved the school. As for what’s on the horizon for Davis, she plans on growing her jewelry box business and creating children’s books. Her educational journey isn’t coming to an end anytime soon. Davis wants to pursue her master’s degree in fine arts. A tlanta-bred rapper T.I. tragically lost his sister Precious Harris in February, but he is turning his pain into something positive and ensuring that her legacy is kept alive through the creation of a scholarship fund. Tierani Scott —a college junior who attends Philander Smith College in Arkansas—was awarded with the scholarship during VH1’s Dear Mama: A Love Letter to Mom special. Scott, who is a single mother, exudes excellence academically and in her personal life. She serves as the president of her class, has an outstanding grade point average, and leads a group called Queen Women’s Empowerment Organization all while balancing motherhood. She majors in sociology. Harris said that he wanted to select a recipient who embodied the same values as his late sister. “This year’s recipient is like my beloved sister,” he said. “It is our hope that this scholarship will help her continue on her path to do great things in her future.” Philanthropy is nothing new to Harris. He has continually utilized his platform as an avenue to give back. In April he teamed up with Scrapp Deleon and the New Birth Missionary Baptist Church to bail out non-violent offenders in time for Easter. Earlier this year he was honored by the Georgia Senate for his dedication to bettering the Atlanta community. “So many times, our answer to fixing things is “I’m gonna make some money and leave all these people behind.” There’s rarely an intent to get rich and make where you came from better for generations to come,” he said in an interview with Inc. “It’s extremely ambitious, but I’ve worked myself to a place where I should be the one leading the charge. Source: Tom Hall / EyeEm / Getty Minnesota Teacher Placed On Leave For Using N-Word Toward Students A middle school teacher in Minnesota has been placed on leave after a video showing her using a racial slur while speaking to students went viral, according to the district earlier this week. Saint Paul Public Schools Superintendent Joe Gothard promised to take aggressive action after footage was posted online of teacher Wendy Brilowski using the N-word toward her Highland Park Middle School students. Brilowski can be heard saying ” f—— n——” in the video, which the district verified as being authentic to NBC News . Another staff member tried to excuse the behavior, saying, “she’s repeating what you’re saying” after the slur was used, but the short video clip does not show any students speaking prior to the teacher’s comments. The district did not provide more detail on the context of what happened before or after the video was taken, but did confirm the incident occurred during school hours. Gothard also apologized in a video to parents, adding that foul and racist language has no place in the district. “As educators, we have to be held to a higher standard and we know that this situation represents a failure on our part,” Gothard said. “And we will not fall silent in the face of racism in our schools.” Brandy Coleman, the mother of one of the students, told NBC-affiliate KARE that the video was the boiling point of tensions between Brilowski and her daughter that had been simmering over the past couple of months. According to her daughter, the teacher had previously called her and other students “negroes,” the mother told KARE. “It breaks my heart that I didn’t know the magnitude of the situation so that I could intervene before that video,” Coleman said.
Meghan Markle did not celebrate Mother’s Day for the first time on Sunday. But she did celebrate Mother’s Day for the first time as an actual mother. The Duchess of Sussex, who gave birth to son Archie this past Monday, posted a brand new image of the newborn earlier today in honor of this special occasion. Not everyone may have been aware upon first viewing the photom, but it also paid tribute to Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana. How so? In the snapshot, which was taken at the famous couple’s new Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor, Diana’s favorite flower, forget-me-nots, can be seen in the background. It’s a subtle, yet poignant nod to the mother-in-law Markle never had a chance to meet. “Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you,” Harry and Meghan wrote as a caption to this picture. They continued: “Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe. “This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex.” And they concluded: “Quote from ‘lands’: my mother was my first country; the first place I ever lived.” According to various outlets, Markle is spending the day at home with her new son, alongside her husband and her mom Doria Ragland. The latter flew in to Great Britain several days before her daughter gave birth and has no plans to leave any time soon. Meghan and Harry, meanwhile, debuted little Archie last Wednesday. While fans are debating whether they gave their child this unexpected name in order to royally piss off Harry’s native country , the stars themselves seemed very relaxed and overjoyed during the photo opportunity. “It’s magic. It’s pretty amazing. I have the best two guys in the world, so I’m really happy,” Markle told the gathered press, adding of her newborn: “He has the sweetest temperament. He’s really calm.” Harry then quipped: “I don’t know where he gets that from!” And Markle added: “He’s just been a dream.
