Passengers traveling to Seattle, Washington from Portland, Oregon were stuck on the tracks since Sunday when their train hit a tree that had fallen on the tracks. NBC reports that the passengers were stuck for nearly 40 hours and complained of panic attacks and screaming babies. “There has been so little communication from Amtrak. I am very disappointed,” said Kim Shelton who was stuck onboard with her daughter and spoke to “Today.” We’ve had two people have anxiety, heart-related issues. We have just had to take care of each other. The two are lovingly raising their son, baby Oliver, and have another child on the way. But when Kalani unveiled her baby bump to the world, she took the opportunity to roast her mom-shamers. In the captions of the photo that you will see below, Kalani took a swipe at her most vocal critics. “Yes, my son is always in pajamas or something comfortable,” she acknowledges. “And, no,” Kalani writes. “I don’t need to explain why.” See, trolls have been hounding her — for unfathomable reasons — about baby Oliver, who is a baby, wearing onesies. “There are lots of unsolved mysteries in this world,” Kalani jokes. “Like,” she writes. “Why those of you who comment about my baby’s clothes look like you either bathe bi-weekly, share TV dinners with your cats, or special kiss your cousins.” Oh wow!! Kalani isn’t done with her insults. This time, she cuts to the heart of the issue. “While your internet projections may temporarily give you ‘self-esteem’ and distract you from dealing with yourself,” Kalani begins. Her caption concludes: “I made sure we all dressed up extra snazzy!” First of all, that’s a great photo on its own. Second of all, you have to love that she made sure that htey all were sporting onesies in solidarity with baby Oliver. In real life, we know that children have particularly sensitive skin. Some kids will, consciously or unconsciously, strip off all or most of their clothes because being naked is more comfortable. A onesie is a great way to keep a child comfortable, warm, and clothed. Kalani hurled a series of insults at her mom-shamers, but she really has a point. Not about the special-kissing of cousins. That’s more ad hominem. But people who bombard others, especially celebrities, with hateful insults or various types of “shaming” do so for a reason. They just want to feel better about themselves. it’s kind of like old people who get a sick thrill from ruining some poor retail employee’s day by fussing about them to the manager. Many people are motivated by personal frustrations and self-doubts and they want to lash out at anyone whom they can hurt. Kalani is smart to not fall for that. She might have gotten knocked up not once but twice because Asuelu thinks that condoms are for “slut people.” But she has a good head on her shoulders about most things. She made some really good points about the huge logical inconsistencies that Eric and Leida had towards Eric’s daughter, Tasha. Sure, Kalani can wig out when it comes to the safety of her baby, but she’s not going to let mom-shamers ruin her day. That’s very reassuring. Source: georgeclerk / Getty He’s In The Middle Of A Complex Lawsuit With The Institution Of Higher Learning A Black political science professor, who was fired by the City University of New York, is currently tied up in a multi-million dollar federal lawsuit over lost Black history research. According to New York Daily News , Professor Joseph Wilson says decades of lectures, writings, correspondence, books and research, including some that can’t be replaced, was illegally seized by CUNY. The professor says years of research was boxed up and carted away by clueless CUNY security guards without warning in a series of warrant-less raids of his school offices. The drastic actions came after the celebrated professor was accused of enriching himself on the school’s dollar. Over the past several years since the the raids happened, Wilson has been fighting to save his Brooklyn College teaching job. He’s also tried with limited success to track down his items. Some were found tossed into random boxes, others were strewn across school shelves and plastic bags, and other items have completely disappeared. Wilson is seeking unspecified punitive and compensatory damages for his lost work in a lawsuit. He also is demanding CUNY dig up his property or pay him for what was lost. “All I want is justice. What gives people the right, for whatever alleged violations they used to fire me, to trash my history and my intellectual property?” Wilson told the Daily News . “The university has to be held accountable and apologize profusely and profoundly. They made some dastardly errors.” CUNY denies all allegations made against them by Wilson. The school said a neutral arbitrator found Wilson was appropriately terminated due to “serious misconduct” that included taking an additional $100,000 in compensation he wasn’t entitled to over the course of three years. He also allegedly submitted false documents to college officials. “We look forward to a full airing of all of the facts in this case, which clearly show that Mr. Wilson’s claims are without merit,” a spokesman said. “The lawsuit is built on false allegations.” Despite the allegations made by CUNY, Wilson definitely has a strong rep in the academic world. The 67-year-old was a leading expert on the history of Black working class and the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the first Black union. He’s also enjoyed a long tenured career as a political science professor at Brooklyn College, and he founded the Brooklyn College Center for Diversity and MultiCultural Studies, dedicated to increasing diversity among students, teachers and classroom topics. In 1997, he was also appointed director of the Graduate Center for Worker Education in lower Manhattan. Things took a shift for the downside when the “raid” was carried out at the Worker Educations Center in January 2012. “We were told not to move, that we couldn’t make any phone calls, or leave the office or speak to anyone,” said Wilson. Several months later, the suit says another seizure was carried out on the Brooklyn College campus where Wilson had two offices. Everything was taken, including his letters with poet and fellow teacher Allen Ginsberg , his correspondence with music legend Ray Charles , a transcript and notes on a previously undiscovered speech by Martin Luther King Jr. , and thousands more pages and items. Even his research into a death threat made against Civil Rights and labor organizer A. Philip Randolph (who was mailed a severed human hand) was taken. In addition to all this, Wilson also can’t find the bulk of his 40-year academic research, which independent scholars value at $12 to $14 million. Wilson filed his federal suit in 2017, but the complex case is still underway nearly two years later. For Wilson, the main goal is to recoup as much as his work as possible. He reflected on the experience saying: “I have to tell you, it was traumatic, shattering and world changing what happened, and I never believed that it could and I certainly didn’t think it would happen at CUNY. I amassed an incredible amount of documentary history on Black workers…a treasure trove on some of the great and the unknown civil rights leaders. How it is possible that all this is going to be erased?”

A Wisconsin teacher was recently placed on administrative leave after he allegedly ripped several braids from an 11-year-old student’s scalp. According to WISC-TV , the young girl’s mother, Mikiea Price, claims the assault happened on Feb. 13 by the hands of Madison Metropolitan School District’s acting principal and positive behavior support coach Rob Mueller-Owens. Price states that the incident happened when Mueller-Owens got upset when her daughter and a friend that sprayed some perfume in class. When the girls did not listen to him to stop, they were instructed to leave the class. “When he came in, he asked (my daughter) to step out and she didn’t listen, and didn’t step out and as he walked toward her, she said she went toward the window and just wasn’t following direction, and he told her in front of the whole class, to the teacher, ‘Take the class somewhere else,’” Price told Madison365 . “And (my daughter) said, ‘No, that’s fine. They can stay, I’ll go.’ As the girl was walking out of the classroom, Price said, Mueller-Owens began pushing her out. Soon after, she fell into a row of lockers, where the teacher lost his balance and fell on top of her. It’s believed that somewhere in this scuffle, three of her braids got ripped out. The incident was caught on tape and is currently being reviewed by the Madison police and the school district. The video has yet to be released to the public. A Madison teacher is on leave after a student said he pushed her and pulled out three of her braids (In the photo you can see where those used to be). Now, her child is too afraid to come back to class. “Just the whole experience is just traumatic and devastating and just confusing,” Price told WISC-TV. She added, “I’m just disgusted at this whole incident. You know I send my kid to school to learn, and that’s a place where mothers send their kids to be comfortable in. I just feel violated in so many ways that … this even happened to her.” Price is also disappointed because Mueller-Owen is an expert on restorative discipline practices, which focuses on getting to the root of behavioral problems with positive techniques. “That’s the devastating part about it,” Price said. “That’s the disgusting part about it. To have that much education and that much training and that much knowledge, to be certified with kids and not follow protocol, I think that’s the part that hurt me the most and disappointed me the most.” The Madison Metropolitan School District released the following statement: “As a District, we take any situation of this nature very seriously. All of our students need to be safe and supported in school, and we have a thorough investigation process and protocol that we follow. While we cannot talk about the details of a specific student or personnel situation, it is our responsibility to consider all of the facts of the situation and determine the right next steps. The staff person was put on leave while the situation was investigated. Based on that investigation, the staff person will not return to Whitehorse Middle School, and we are determining next steps. Trust is important in this role because at a certain point in order for me to accomplish certain things with my job, I have to have a certain level of trust. Morris Chestnut: That person is my co-star Erica Shepherd played by Jennifer Carpenter. When the story opens I am pursuing her character because she is a traitor. She committed treason and she is also responsible for the death of my fiancée. At one point she’s giving me all this information. I don’t know what information that I can trust and what I can’t. You are doing network television again. Tell us, what attracted you to the story. Also, take us through that moment when you got the script in your hand. Morris Chestnut: So, I just finished Rosewood. Rosewood was fun and light. My manager sent me this script and while reading it I was really involved in the character. I was engaged with the story. When I got to the ending of the pilot I was like wow! – I didn’t see the ending coming. The character was very dynamic. I wanted to get back to doing something that was more challenging dramatically. This was it. HelloBeautiful.com: What’s it like for you to go from the big screen working on those big box office films to working on 30 minutes to hour projects? Morris Chestnut: It is a blistering pace. That’s the most challenging part. Most of the times, that’s the only drawback to doing television. The material nowadays – most are big blockbuster comic book, Black Panther, The Avengers – big ticket type films. So, a lot of the really good material is also going to television. However, the challenge with doing network TV is that you don’t have time to prepare, because it is so fast paced. HelloBeautiful.com: In this role you are very stoic and focused. What makes you weak and what makes you fold? Morris Chestnut: There is going to be a lot of vulnerability that you see and it all relates to my fiancée that I lost. You will see the moments when I have to trust and sometimes I am burned by that trust. You will see me vulnerable. HelloBeautiful.com: In sync with that – let’s talk about sacrifices. Erica Shepherd didn’t want to lose her daughter. You lost your fiancée. Let’s talk about some other sacrifices that you had to go through in The Enemy Within. Morris Chestnut: The FBI and the CIA – they don’t have a good relationship. The FBI is more by the book and the CIA are more like cowboys who go and do whatever they want to get the job done. The FBI somewhat resents the CIA. So, part of the sacrifice is having to work with someone who Will feels is responsible for the death of his fiancée, while working with others from the CIA. HelloBeautiful.com: Why is The Enemy Within good for NBC? Morris Chestnut: The one thing that I love about NBC is that they really focus on diversity. They don’t just talk about it – they are definitely about it. We have diversity in front of the camera and behind the camera. We have diversity with our PA’s, writers, directors, and the crew.
