NYPD Guns Down 66-Year-Old Mentally Ill Woman An NYPD police sergeant fatally shot a 66-year-old woman suffering from schizophrenia inside her own Bronx home when she charged at him with a baseball bat on Tuesday evening. According to NBCNY , officers were on the scene in response to a neighbor’s 911 complaint about the woman, who the community has long known to suffer from mental issues. A uniformed sergeant encountered the woman inside her 7th floor apartment, where she was reportedly naked and armed with scissors. The officer convinced her to put the scissors down…but the moment she did, he reports that she grabbed a bat and attempted to swing at him with it. Even though the officer had a stun gun on him, he instead fired two shots from his service gun, striking her twice in the torso. The woman was transported to a nearby medical center, where she later passed away. The NYPD says it’s conducting an investigation into the case, including why the 8-year veteran sergeant chose to shoot the woman with his firearm instead of his stun gun. SMH. We can never understand opting to KILL when you could easily diffuse a situation instead. And that’s only IF she even was swinging a bat around the way they reported… NY1/NBC NY

Justin Bieber is not out of the legal clear just yet. While most accounts of the fight that took place this weekend outside a club in Southampton agree that Bieber himself did not throw any punches, Police Sergeant Todd Spencer tells The New York Post that the singer may still face charges from the incident. “Part of the investigation,” Spencer said to the newspaper, “[is] whether Bieber directed [his security team] or not.” According to Page Six, the victim at the center of the brawl was a 22-year old named Wayne Rennalls. He got into an argument with Bieber inside the club and it “escalated” outside, says an onlooker. “He was screaming in Wayne’s direction, ‘Punk bitch!’ Wayne thought somebody threw something at him,” alleges this source. “Wayne picked up a small rock and threw it back towards Justin. ““That’s when Wayne heard someone yell, ‘You done [bleep]ed up now.’ Justin jumped out the sunroof of his car and slid down the car like he was in ‘Die Hard’ . . . He dropped his shirt and threw his hat and wanted to throw hands. His people surrounded Wayne, who was getting punched from all angles.” Rennalls – who went to the hospital and suffered a black eye, a wounded lip and bruised ribs – filed an assault claim the next day. Police are looking into the incident and could include Bieber in any charges if they determine he egged his entourage on. LeSean McCoy Sued For Assault According to TMZ NFL superstar has been sued by a woman who claims the running back humiliated her on a party bus — sprayed her with a beverage — and then booted her from the ride on the side of the Jersey Turnpike. According to the lawsuit filed by a woman using the alias “Mary Roe” … the Philadelphia Eagles RB had invited 15 women to join him on a party bus that went from Philly to a NYC nightclub on December 18, 2012. During the trip, the lawsuit alleges, McCoy, along with his bodyguard and a couple of other guys, began to spray some of the women with water. Roe claims she protested the water spraying … so McCoy ordered his bodyguard Big John to “get her.” In the suit, filed May 10 in Philadelphia, the woman claims McCoy and/or Big John proceeded to hit her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. While she was on the floor, the men allegedly physically restrained her and poured a beverage onto her hair, clothes and body. And if things couldn’t get worse … the woman claims McCoy and Big John then forcibly ejected her from the party bus on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike. But some of the women allegedly complained to McCoy about Roe getting the boot — so she was snatched back up from the side of the road and placed back on the bus. The woman claims she was taken to a nearby rest stop — where the football player once again ditched her — and continued on with his party trip. Roe is now suing for more than $50,000 in damages for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment and negligence. Roe says she suffered head trauma, a disc protrusion on her spine, bad sprains, contusions and bruises all over her body, and severe shock. New Jersey State Police Sergeant Brian Polite tells us … officers did meet with a woman at a rest stop near the Jersey Turnpike on December 19, who claimed she had an altercation with a male on a party bus. Sgt. Polite tells us … during the initial meeting with the accuser, she never named McCoy as her attacker. LeSean McCoy is adamant … he NEVER assaulted a woman on a party bus back in December — and claims his accuser is just trying to shake him down for some cash. TMZ spoke with McCoy’s lawyer, Andrew M. Smith, who tells us, “The allegations against LeSean McCoy are completely, unequivocally false.” Smith continues, “There are no criminal charges pending [against McCoy] and no probable cause was ever found.” McCoy’s lawyer says, “This is sadly an attempt to extract money and LeSean will vigorously defend any attempt to collect money through a personal injury claim.” How do you wait until like five months later to sue for assault? LeSean McCoy, one of the NFL’s best running backs, has been sued by a woman who claims he treated her very poorly during a recent party bus jaunt. In documents obtained by TMZ, an unidentified female alleges that the Eagles star invited 15 members of the opposite sex to get down with him on a bus from Philadelphia to New York City on December 18, 2012. During this trip, McCoy and members of his entourage supposedly starting spraying water on their companions. Once the accuser asked them to stop, she says McCoy and/or his bodyguard punched her in the face. She then says she was restrained and more liquid was poured over her body. To top it all off, the woman says she was forcibly removed from the vehicle and left on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike… until other party bus attendees convinced McCoy to at least leave her at a rest stop instead. The accuser is suing the All-Pro for over $50,000 in damages for assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment and negligence. A New Jersey State Police Sergeant, meanwhile, confirms to TMZ that he met with a woman at a rest stop on that date. She had no visible injuries and did not name McCoy as her attacker. But she did go into detail about an altercation of this nature on a party bus. An investigation is ongoing.

People ain’t isht … According to ABC News: A Florida police sergeant was fired for allegedly bringing Trayvon Martin shooting targets he purchased on the Internet to a firearms training session. Sgt. Ron King, who had been with the Cape Canaveral Port Authority since January 2011, was fired Thursday, authorities said. On April 4, when two fellow cops discovered King intended to use the Trayvon Martin shooting targets in their weapons exercise, they told him “they didn’t think it was appropriate,” said John Walsh, CEO of the Cape Canaveral Port Authority. The next day, he said the officers informed the Port Authority Police Chief, who called in internal affairs. Authorities declined to say whether any of the targets were used. “We want to apologize to the community and the family of Trayvon Martin and don’t feel that this is tolerable or acceptable in any level. It’s something that we’d never want the Port Authority to be involved in and we truly apologize to the families for the pain that they even had to hear about something like this and had to relive their son’s death again,” Walsh said.
