Three teen boys have been arrested and charged with sexual assaulting their classmate, Audrie Pott, while she was intoxicated and passed out at a house party. Pott, who attended Saratoga High School in California, committed suicide at age 15, hanging herself eight days after photos of the attack were posted online. The case bears eerie similarities to the sexual assault of the Steubenville rape case in Ohio last year. Two teenagers were found guilty in that incident. The tragic incident occurred nack in September 2012 when Audrie Pott went to a party at the home of a friend whose parents had gone out of town. She passed out and was allegedly attacked as she was unconscious. When photos of the alleged rape spread online, the traumatized student posted on her own Facebook page that it was the “worst day of her life.” Eight days later, she killed herself. “Poor Audrie was terrorized by cyber-bullying,” an attorney for Pott’s family, Robert Allard, told the San Jose Mercury News , adding that the family throughly investigated the matter. “There is no doubt in our minds that the victim, then only 15, was savagely assaulted by her fellow high school students while she lay on a bed completely unconscious.” The family, which has set up a charitable foundation for music and art scholarships, two of Audrie’s passions, is calling for a new law bearing their late daughter’s name. “Audrie’s Law would address some of the things that happened here,” Allard said. “There are two common elements here that are being repeated across the country – sexual assault by an adolescent and the cyber-bullying that follows.” A school resource officer tipped off authorities to the attack and the students involved. The teens, two 16 and one 15, were not arrested until seven months later. They were booked Thursday into a juvenile facility, charged with two felony counts and one misdemeanor count each, according to a police spokesman. The Pott family said they hope the teens will be charged as adults. “The wound is still very raw,” their attorney said of the Pott family. “They want to feel as if justice will be done after these kids were arrested, after acting as if nothing had happened. But at the same time it’s a reminder that Audrie is gone.” The case mirrors yet another in Nova Scotia where 15-year-old Rehtaeh Parsons committed suicide last Sunday after enduring a sexual assault in 2011. Parsons was allegedly a victim of sexual battery by four boys and later bullied after sharing cellphone photos of the attack with their classmates. Police cited a lack of evidence to charge the teens in the case.

My name is Tara and I never thought in a million years I would be writing my own Bieber experience , especially after all the bad luck I had with him last year. It was in April 2012 when I first properly tried to meet him. I found out where he was that day so I went with my friend from school who is also a fan. When we got there, we made friends with about 7 other beliebers and I told them to stand by a door where no one was because he’d probably come through there. After a while, I decided to talk to some other people I knew who were standing literally a few meters up the road. As I turned and started walking, Justin came to the door. I didn’t know he was there as my friend didn’t tell me. Justin let them all in. They all met him as I was walking away. I was crushed. Since that day every time I tried to meet him I always failed. I didn’t think I would ever get to meet him. Then on Thursday 21st February 2013 my dream finally came true! My friend (who also had never met him) and I were planning for weeks how we were going to try to meet him. The day before, we found out he was already in London and we started freaking out. We already knew the hotel he would be staying at so we knew we had to go the next day. He needed to go to Manchester that morning so we decided to meet at 8 a.m. just to be sure we didn’t miss him. We were the first people there so we got really scared that he had already left. As time went on, more fans started coming and the tour buses came. At around 10 a.m. Justin’s crew started coming out. Then we realized the whole crew had got on the bus so we thought Justin might have already left or snuck on the bus round the back. Then Kenny got off the bus and started walking towards the hotel again. Everyone was asking him what was happening and he said Justin was getting all his bags ready then he was coming out soon. We were so excited. Then I saw someone wearing a snapback, hoodie and colourful shoes walking through the lobby. It was Justin. My friend and I were like the only fans not screaming. As he was walking out I just held my phone out and he came walking towards me. He took my phone and took a picture of us both. He said, “Thank You” and gave me my phone back. I just walked away. I was in shock. I don’t think I even knew where I was or what had just happened. It wasn’t until I told my mum on the phone when it hit me. I just started crying, I couldn’t believe it and I still can’t. It was quick but it doesn’t matter because I finally met Justin and got a picture with him. The next morning I actually had to search my phone just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming and it did actually happen. Mine was “ALAYLM” and of course I knew the lyrics. I heard “YOU’RE MEETING JUSTIN BIEBER.” I couldn’t believe it. I screamed, cried and was shaking. I honestly thought I was gonna have an asthma attack and I’m surprised no one called the police because of my screaming. On the 23rd February Justin had another book signing. I woke up early on the 2nd March and travelled down to Nottingham. I went too the arena and we were 2 hrs early so I brought some merchandise and we waited. We went to que up in the M&G line and I had too leave my present for Justin on a table where all the gifts were. While we were in the que, my mum started crying and said, “I’m so proud of you. I know how much you deserve this and how much he means too you. You’ve basically been here from the start and I can’t stop crying because I’m so happy for you.” I hugged my mum and I started crying too. I heard some girls screaming and I was wondering what was going on. Dan Kanter had come to say hi to everyone! I got to talk to him and get a picture, he’s such a lovely guy! Finally it was time to meet Justin. I walked over to him and said hi. He smiled at me and we took our picture. I had to go and he went to grab my hand. I just looked into his eyes and he moved his sunglasses down and WINKED AT ME FOR THE SECOND TIME. I was crying so much after and couldn’t stop saying thank you to Carolyn and Jerry, I was so grateful. Although I look terrible in my picture I don’t really care because I’m standing next to the person who has helped me and saved me. I couldn’t ask for a better idol. According to NY Daily News reports : A double amputee allegedly gunned down a Walmart worker after being asked to put his service dog on a leash — before being caught fleeing on his motorized scooter by cops. Daniel Pirtle, 45, was said to have been asked by assistant manager Jason Mahi, 33, to place the animal under control after entering the store in Anchorage, Alaska, on Saturday afternoon. His request sparked an argument, during which Pirtle pull out a weapon and shoot Mahi in the stomach, witnesses said. Trying to escape on his electric vehicle, Pirtle was nabbed by cops close to the building’s entrance. They arrested him, placed him in handcuffs and confiscated his handgun. Army veteran Sergeant Carlos Morales told the Anchorage Daily News the gunshot “sounded like somebody dropped a big box”. Morales, who was in the store with his wife and children, said he rushed to help Mahi who had fallen on the floor. “He said, ‘I can’t feel my feet.’ He just kept talking about his kids,” said Morales, before adding: “My kids, my son,’ that’s basically all he said. Everyone else tried to keep him awake.” Mahi was rushed to hospital where he underwent surgery. He is now in a stable condition. Anchorage Police Sgt Cameron Hokenson said Pirtle was charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree weapons misconduct. He is now being held at Anchorage Jail on bail of $50,000. His dog has been taken temporarily to a female police officer’s home. Walmart spokesman Dan Fogleman said the shooting was a “senseless, unprovoked act of violence”. SMH. Thank God the man lived!
