Singer and new Voice coach Shakira has released a photo of her baby, for a good cause. That Gerard Pique sure is a handsome fella, isn’t he? Oh, and their son is pictured too! Shakira gave birth two weeks ago to Milan, seen above sharing a sweet moment with his soccer star dad. Want to celebrate the moment with them? The photo was made available through the couple’s UNICEF website , where the charity is accepting $5-110 donations in honor of the arrival of Milan. “We hope that, in his name, other less privileged children in the world can have their basic needs covered through gifts and donations,” Shakira, 36, writes. “Thank you for sharing this unforgettable moment with us.”
A flight from Halifax bound for the Dominican Republic was forced to land in Bermuda Friday night after three passengers refused to stop smoking. Bermuda police said they were called to the airport around 9:55 p.m. local time to meet Sunwing flight 454, which was on its way to Punta Cana. Police boarded the plane and arrested the three smokers. “It appeared to be a father, a mother and a son. The parents appear to be in their 50s. The son, I believe, is around 22 or so,” said acting Insp. Paul Simons. Dave Shellington’s wife was on the plane. She texted her husband: “They were smoking in the plane’s washroom and when they came out they got into a little bit of an argument with the attendants.” “They couldn’t say where they put their cigarette butts and that caused a bit of a commotion, I guess. From there it kind of escalated with the father, the mother and the son. Apparently there was a lot of screaming and swearing. Simons said he couldn’t confirm the family’s nationality or if they had also been drinking, but said they were co-operative when they were removed by police. They were taken to the police station and have since been released; the flight was grounded overnight and the crew and passengers were put up in a hotel. The flight was rescheduled to leave on Saturday, the family not so much; they’ve had their passports and travel documents seized by the Bermuda police. Totally worth it for those sweet, sweet carcinogens …
He might be back together with Selena Gomez , but all is not perfect in the world of Justin Bieber. Police are reportedly investigating a member of the singer’s entourage, believed to be his bodyguard, after a man approached Justin at a Best But in San Fernando Valley last night and snapped a picture. Insiders tell TMZ that the bodyguard flipped out at the move, ordering the fan to delete the photo and threatening him until he obeyed. The individual felt so uneasy about the confrontation that he called the cops and filed a report when they arrived on the scene. No word yet from the superstar’s camp regarding the incident, but they have a lot to deal with these days. New Justin Bieber weed photos are allegedly circulating, as are claims that the singer was caught with Sizzurp .
Frank Ocean WILL NOT press charges against Chris Brown after last week’s brawl, announcing that he after some soul searching, he has opted to move on. Ocean posted on his Tumblr, “As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man. But as a man I am not a killer.” “I’ll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace.” Simple, yet profound thoughts from the rapper. The Chris Brown-Frank Ocean fight broke out last Sunday outside a recording studio in L.A., allegedly (at least at first) over a highly coveted parking spot. A witness on scene said Breezy threw the first punch and Ocean spoke to the police, while Brown left the scene and was the suspect in the battery case. Sources close to Chris remained adamant Frank came at him, Ocean’s crew started it, and that Brown never hit anyone. No one was charged in the case. With Frank letting it go, that’s how it will stay. Hatchet, buried … at least until the next studio run-in.
Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL who wrote “American Sniper” about his career as a marksman in Iraq, was shot dead at a gun range in Texas Saturday. Kyle, 38, and another man were found dead at the shooting range of Rough Creek Lodge on Saturday afternoon, the Texas Highway Patrol said. The killer, identified as Eddie Ray Routh of Lancaster, Texas, was arrested after a brief pursuit, Trooper and spokesman Lonny Haschel confirmed. The other victim was named as Chad Littlefield, aged 35. Kyle, a Texas native who grew up hunting, served four tours in Iraq with Navy SEAL Team 3, and is credited with 160 confirmed kills as a marksman. His shooting during battles in Ramadi and Fallujah became legendary, and insurgents nicknamed him the “Devil of Ramadi” and put a bounty on his head. Remarkable skill at his craft – one shooting too place from 2,100 yards, 1.2 miles away – earned Chris the reputation as “America’s deadliest sniper.” In a February 2012 interview with NBC News, Kyle said he didn’t want to put the number of people he killed in the book but the publisher insisted. “If I could figure out the number of people I saved, that’s something I would brag about,” he told NBC News’ Lester Holt, regarding the U.S. mission. Those close to him were shocked by the news. “It just comes as a shock and it’s staggering to think that after all Chris has been through, that this is how he meets his end,” Scott McEwen, his co-author, said. After leaving the Navy, Kyle founded Craft International, a group that provides training to military, police, corporate and civilian clients, Reuters said. Kyle was married with two children. Police said Routh is believed to have shot the victims at around 3:30 p.m. before leaving the shooting range and returning to his home in a pickup truck. The link between Routh and the two victims wasn’t immediately clear. The Dallas Morning News reported that Routh is 25 and had military training.
The Grammy Awards may feature many top acts on stage next Sunday, but the same can’t be said for the ceremony’s actual ballots. Justin Bieber is not nominated in any category. Neither is Carly Rae Jepsen. Or Nicki Minaj, for that matter. And the American Idol judge thinks she knows why… although she isn’t saying. “I think that the Grammys had a different reason, that I do not want to discuss … and that’s just between me and them,” Minaj said in a recent interview. “But I respect their organization and I’ll get a Grammy eventually. I’m not worried about it.” Minaj was nominated three times last year, including for Best New Artist and Best Rap Album. It’s unclear to what motive she is referring in the quote above, but Nicki insists she’s fine with this supposed snub: “I understand that artists and critics make a big deal over the Grammys. But when I go to my shows and I’m selling out arenas in London, and when I’m in Australia and Japan, there aren’t any Grammys there. There are human beings who I’ve touched. There are human beings who are inspired by me, who I love dearly. And that’s what my career is based on.”
Police say they’ve recovered 18 shells from the scene of the apparent drive-by Rick Ross shooting attempt in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., early Monday. Officials won’t say whether or not Ross, 37, also fired a weapon before or while he crashed in an attempt to evade the bullets fired during the drive-by . While Ross has not made a public statement about the shooting, Pusha T has confirmed that the Miami rapper is doing well and “layin’ back” at home. Good to know. Ross has apparently kept a low profile in the days following the incident, and is supposedly being protected with 24-hour security. A few more details have emerged from the crime scene, including audio of the first 911 call , in which a woman got scared and hung up (with good reason). Clearly, someone fired a lot of bullets Monday morning, but some people on Twitter are skeptical of Ross’ role and whether he was really in danger. In particular, 50 Cent has openly mocked rival Ross, Tweeting, “hahaha fat boy hit the building? lol it looks staged to me. No hole’s in da car.” Ross was unhurt and his Rolls-Royce was undamaged by bullets, at least according to photos, prompting Fiddy to suggest that he staged it. “hahaha that boy was spooked. I ride like OBAMA level 6 built proof, bomb proof, you already know. Nah they shot in the air then he drove into a building.” “Man they miss the whole f–king car were they do that at ? ok it was just firecrackers but who ever lit them in trouble cause the man damn near had a heart attack!” What do you think? Was the shooting staged? Maybe. No holes in the car. Or Rick. No! How can you even suggest that. View Poll »
Is this commercial racist, or is everything racist nowadays? NBC Reports: Arab-American groups have sharply criticized a Coca-Cola Super Bowl ad depicting an Arab walking through the desert with a camel, and one group said it would ask the beverage giant to change it before CBS airs the game on Sunday before an expected audience of more than 100 million U.S. viewers. “Why is it that Arabs are always shown as either oil-rich sheiks, terrorists, or belly dancers?” said Warren David, president of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, or ADC. Coca-Cola released an online teaser of the commercial last week, showing the Arab walking through a desert. He soon sees cowboys, Las Vegas showgirls and a motley crew fashioned after the marauders of the apocalyptic “Mad Max” film race by him to reach a gigantic bottle of Coke. In its ad, Coke asks viewers to vote online on which characters should win the race. The online site does not allow a vote for the Arab character. “The Coke commercial for the Super Ball is racist, portraying Arabs as backward and foolish Camel Jockeys, and they have no chance to win in the world,” Imam Ali Siddiqui, president of the Muslim Institute for Interfaith Studies, said in an email. “What message is Coke sending with this?” asked Abed Ayoub, ADC’s director of legal and policy affairs. “By not including the Arab in the race, it is clear that the Arab is held to a different standard when compared to the other characters in the commercial,” he said. CBS declined comment. Coca-Cola spokeswoman Lauren Thompson said Coke took a “cinematic” approach with the ad, employing the characters as a nod to movies of the past. “Coca-Cola is an inclusive brand enjoyed by all demographics,” she said in an email. “We illustrate our core values, from fun and refreshment to happiness, inspiration and optimism across all of our marketing communications.” Ayoub said ADC intended to contact Coke and CBS Corp on Thursday to “hopefully start a dialog.” “I want to know why this happened and how can we fix this if possible before Sunday,” he said. The ADC garnered attention back in 1992 when it complained that lyrics in the Walt Disney animated film “Aladdin” were racist. Ronald Goodstein, professor at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University, said he was surprised by the image as well. “If Coke’s vision is to be an arm’s distance away from every customer, why would they want to offend the Arab world?” said Goodstein. Ayoub said the commercial could harm Coke’s business with the Arab community. “Coke should understand and respect their consumers and have a better understanding of the market they are sharing,” he Ayoub. The company has a large market share in the Middle East and North Africa, he noted, and many convenience stores and other retail outlets in the United States that offer Coke are owned by Arab-Americans. Got rocks??? Via NBC News: Police arrested a father Tuesday night after officers said he smoked crack in a car with his 2-year-old twins sitting in the back seat. According to authorities, Dennis Robinson’s wife called police after he failed to pick her up from work in Plainville, Conn. She called Robinson, 28, several times but he continued to give her excuses for not showing up, police said. Four hours later, Robinson’s wife finally got a ride home and called police to report her husband and her two children missing. Officers spotted Robinson’s 2002 Dodge Durango and tried to stop him. According to police he briefly tried to flee, but officers stopped him on Harwinton Road. Another man in the car told police the two drove to Waterbury, Conn., and bought crack cocaine with the kids in the back seat. The pair smoked the crack in the car, according to police. Man, some people should really never ever ever ever ever…EVER have children!!!!
They need to lock this sick f**ker up and throw away the key! This girl was 13!! According to NBC News: A married father of two who coaches girls’ softball is accused of having a sexual relationship with his teenage daughter’s best friend — a girl who looked up to her coach as a father-like figure, according to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC10. Kevin Jones, 34, of Fairless Hills, Pa., northeast of Philadelphia, is accused of having intimate contact with the girl starting when she was 14, according to Falls Township Police. Police say that Jones would text and Facebook message with the girl, whom he coached on the same softball team, the Levittown Bulldogs, that his daughter played on. The girl and Jones would tell each other that they loved one another and he would refer to her as his “baby doll” and she would call him “daddy,” according to a criminal complaint. Jones allegedly told the girl, whose father left the picture about seven years ago, that she could consider him a father. “I’ll be your dad from now on and I’ll protect you like I’m your dad,” Jones told the girl, according to the affidavit. According to the criminal complaint, the relationship between the two started in the spring of 2012 with “flirting” as Jones would put his arm around the girl and hold her hand while speaking to her. Over time, the girl told police that their relationship progressed, first to kissing then to sexual activities and eventually to intercourse about two weeks ago. The affidavit said that Jones’ children were in his home during many of the alleged sex acts. The girl, now 15, told police that all the alleged sex was consensual and that no drugs or alcohol were involved. Jones denies any sexual contact with the alleged victim outside of hugging and kissing that happened only in front of the girl’s mother. The criminal complaint states that during questioning Jones told police, “I don’t know if she thinks I touched her, we play fight.” The relationship was uncovered after the teenager confided in her sister about the relationship and the girls’ mother in turn reported it to Falls Township Police on Jan. 9. Around that time, the victim allegedly tried to warn Jones that her mother knew of their alleged relationship in a series of texts and Facebook messages that are referenced in the affidavit. Those Facebook messages date back to June of 2011, when the girl was just 13, and include messages where Jones threatens to kill any boy the girl has interest in, according to the affidavit. Police planned to serve a search warrant at Jones’ home on Jan. 25, but around 2 p.m. the home burned down. Jones and his family escaped the blaze and the cause of the fire remained under investigation. Jones was arrested Monday and charged with six counts including indecent sexual intercourse with a minor, statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and related offenses. He was arraigned and held on $2 million bail, according to court documents. Wow, and these are the types of people we trust and leave our children with…so sad.
