Newtown Didn’t Happen, Professor Claims

A professor is causing befuddlement and outrage with recent claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Conn., did not occur. The Daily Mail reported that James Tracy, a tenured history professor at Florida Atlantic University, wrote this in a lengthy post on his personal blog. Tracy explores what he says is the possibility that the Newtown shooting may not have happened the way that it is widely believed, if it happened at all. The 47-year-old professor bases his claims largely on the flurry of conflicting media reports that were made as news of the shooting was released. The Daily Mail also reported that the school has distanced itself from the professor. “While it sounds outrageous, one is left to inquire whether the Sandy Hook shooting ever took place, at least in the way law enforcement authorities and the news media have described,” he says. On his blog, he hits a number of other conspiracy theories: September 11, the purview of the Department of Homeland Security, the PATRIOT Act, the death of Osama bin Laden and Fukishima. In his latest shocking claim, he focuses much of his attention on the fact that early reports claimed that police were either searching for or had two suspects in custody. The story then progressed that Ryan Lanza was the lone gunman, based reportedly on the identification that the shooter had on him at the time of the attack. Ryan, 24, was then found at his home in Hoboken, N.J. – two states away from where his 20-year-old brother Adam, the actual shooter, committed the atrocities. Police say Adam Lanza opened fire inside the Connecticut elementary school, killing 20 children and six adults. Police say Lanza then killed himself.

Sean Lowe on The Bachelor Premiere: Amazing, Nerve-Wracking!

Sean Lowe says that The Bachelor season premiere , which aired last night was an exciting, but anxious experience, one he “can’t quite put into words.” He tries his best, fortunately, in his weekly blog . Heading into the night, he wondered, “Would I feel a connection with anyone? Am I going to meet my future wife tonight? Am I going to make it out alive?” Sean did in fact survive to dole out the roses another day, and at least from The Bachelor spoilers we’ve read, the season goes pretty well for him. Neither here nor there right now. Here’s how Sean summed up his first night as the star of the ABC reality franchise, from beginning to end … “The women amazed me. They seemed sweet, funny and gorgeous! Any nerves I had going into the first night were calmed by the unusual and very funny antics of a few women.” “I felt so bad for Robyn when she attempted that back handspring and landed on her head. But I must admit, it was a great icebreaker and it definitely made a big impression on me.” “I love a girl who doesn’t take herself too seriously.” “Lesley definitely scored points with me when she pulled the football prank on me. It was fun, creative and most importantly, it made me want to spend more time with her.” “The woman who made the biggest entrance of the night had to be Lindsay.” “The girl showed up in a wedding dress! My first thought was that she was crazy, but I quickly learned that it was just her quirky sense of humor and she wasn’t afraid to put herself out there.” “Lindsay was someone I wouldn’t forget. But the woman who made the biggest impression on me was Tierra. I can’t explain it but I just felt an immediate connection with Tierra.” “Her piercing eyes and beautiful smile stopped me in my tracks and I knew right then and there that I wanted to give her a rose.” “I didn’t stop to think that by giving her a rose so quickly I might be putting a target on her back, but I’m glad I made that decision because I knew I wanted to spend more time with Tierra.” “After meeting the 25 women, I was ready to get inside and start talking with them but of course Chris Harrison had a surprise for me: there was a 26th woman and it was none other than Kacie from Ben Flajnik’s season of The Bachelor .” “I was shocked to see her step out of the limo because I was already friends with her. We met at a charity function a few months prior and I was able to spend a good amount of time with her.” “I thought she was really sweet and fun, but I never looked at her in a romantic light and I had no idea she had developed a crush on me.” “I knew it would be a transition for me viewing Kacie as someone who is more than a friend, but I was certainly willing to try because I respect her as a person so much.” “I made the decision to hand out roses during the cocktail party because I felt like being in the moment. Each rose I handed out was just a way of my telling that woman that I liked her and wanted to get to know her more.” “I found myself handing out roses left and right and thought it would make the ceremony easier. But then when it came time, there were so few roses left and so many great women that it was just as hard!” “Overall, I had an amazing first night and I am so excited to start this crazy new journey with all of you. I don’t think I realized right away, though, just how crazy the journey would be!”

Lottery Winner Killed After Winning $1 Million; Cyanide Poisoning Suspected

Chicago Police are investigating the death of a lottery winner, Urooj Khan, 46, who was killed, reportedly by poison, just after he got his winnings. Khan won a $1,000,000 scratch-off ticket last June after he paid $60 to buy two tickets at a 7-11 in the Windy City’s Rogers Park neighborhood. A check for his prize money of almost $425,000 was issued July 19. He never got to see the check. Within 48 hours, he was dead. The next day, Khan came home from work, ate dinner and went to bed. The Chicago Tribune reports he woke up screaming and later died at an Evanston hospital. The Cook County medical examiner ruled Khan died from natural causes, but police investigators took a closer look into his death after a relative raised concerns. Last month, tests revealed that Khan died from cyanide poisoning and his death was ruled a homicide. A motive has not been determined yet, officially. Police haven’t ruled out the possibility that Khan was killed because of his seven-figure lottery win, a law enforcement source told the Tribune . As part of the ongoing investigation, officials say they are considering exhuming his body to determine how much cyanide he ingested or inhaled. Khan is survived by wife Shabana Ansari and their teenage daughter, Jasmeen Khan. His wife said he was the “best husband on the entire planet.” She has spoken with police about the investigation.

Homeless Heir, Set to Inherit $19 Million, Dies

Timothy Henry Gray, a homeless man, died under a railroad overpass in Wyoming – just before learning he stood to inherit $19 million from a reclusive New Yorker. Eccentric Huguette Clark (pictured) who died in 2011 and left nothing of her $300 million fortune to her family in her will, but relatives challenged the document. That meant her great-nephew Gray, 60, stood to inherit $19 million. Sadly, children playing on sleds discovered Gray’s body in the snow on Thursday. The former cowboy died of hypothermia in the 10-degree Evanston, Wyoming weather. The death of his 104-year-old relative caused a flurry of media attention because of Clark’s wealth and reclusive nature, which evoked comparisons to Howard Hughes. She hadn’t even been photographed since 1930. Clark was the daughter of United States Senator and industrialist William Andrews Clark, who made a fortune in copper and other ventures. Although she dabbled in art and once exhibited her paintings, Clark distrusted family members and strangers because she feared they were after her money. The fate of her fortune is still unclear.

Santa’s Grey Outfit Angers Guest in Sweden

Santa’s grey outfit did not sit too well in Sweden over the weekend. Some guest at a spa and conference center was apparently angered by such a sight. Police had to intervene after a foreign visitor grew angry because the Santa Claus on the premises was wearing grey instead of his usual red costume. No one was arrested during the incident in Vallsta, three hours north of Stockholm, but police said the guest grew irate and argued with the staff over it. They did not say where the guest was from. As for the photo above, don’t even ask. It’s just what comes up if you do a Google Image search on “grey Santa.”

Killer Left Chilling Note Before N.Y. Firefighter Shootings

William Spengler, the killer of two New York State firefighters, apparently left a chilling note before opening fire on first responders earlier this week. An ex-con with the same military-style rifle used in the Connecticut school shooting , Spengler typed a note pledging to burn down his neighborhood. He said he was going to “do what I like doing best, killing people,” police said as another body, believed to be the gunman’s missing sister, was found. Spengler, 62, served 17 years in prison for manslaughter in the 1980 hammer slaying of his grandmother. He set his house afire before dawn Monday. At that point, he took a revolver, a shotgun and a semiautomatic rifle to a sniper position outside, Webster, N.Y., Police Chief Gerald Pickering said. He shot dead two firefighters responding to the fire. The death toll rose to three as police revealed that a body believed to be his 67-year-old sister, Cheryl Spengler, was found in his fire-ravaged home. Authorities say he sprayed bullets at the first responders, killing two firefighters and injuring two others who remained hospitalized Tuesday. Those two victims are awake, alert and expected to survive. He then killed himself as seven houses burned on a sliver of land along Lake Ontario. Police recovered a military-style .223-caliber semiautomatic Bushmaster rifle with flash suppression, the same make and caliber weapon used in Newtown, Conn. The chief said it was believed the firefighters were hit with shots from the rifle given the distance but the investigation was incomplete and ongoing. “He was equipped to go to war, kill innocent people,” the chief said. The 2-3 page typewritten rambling note left by Spengler did not reveal what set off the killer or provide a motive for the shootings, Pickering said. He called the attack a “clear ambush on first responders.” He read only one chilling line: “I still have to get ready to see how much of the neighborhood I can burn down, and do what I like doing best, killing people.”
