They’re to be hugged and caressed, you know?” What about the incident with Brooke Mueller in Colorado and Capri Anderson in NYC? “The Aspen thing was thrown out. Rihanna-Ciara Beef Escalates on Twitter

You really gotta love Twitter. Celebrity feuds begin suddenly over nothing and spiral out of control for all to enjoy so efficiently in this high-tech day and age. Today’s star-studded social media beef: Ciara and Rihanna! On Joan Rivers’ Fashion Police last night, the host was discussing with Ciara some absurd outfit Rihanna had worn (take your pick). That’s when Ciara said: “I ran into her recently at a party and she wasn’t the nicest, and it’s crazy because I’ve always respected what she’s done with fashion and I’ve ran into her before, but this time it just wasn’t the most pleasant run-in, so …” That thought was completed by Rivers: “…a bitch. Next!” No sooner had the show aired, Rihanna took to her Twitter page , fuming about the remarks, writing: “My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u? #howrudeofme.” It only got better from there … Not even an hour later, Ciara hit right back: “Trust me Rhianna u dont want to see me on or off the stage“ (notice the misspelt name….ouch). Rihanna: “U gangsta huh? Haaa. Good luck with bookin that stage u speak of.“ Maybe because C didn’t write back, Ri felt bad, offering the following olive branch Tweet a bit later: “Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I’m heartbroken! That’s y I retaliated this way! So sorry! #letsmakeup.” Ah, Twitter feuds. They start fast, but they also conclude promptly. As the saying goes, sticks, stones and Chris Brown can break your bones and maybe even knock you unconscious, but Twitter trash talk is fleeting.

Stop Blaming The Victim

Recently I spoke to my cousin, who lives in Alabama, on the phone and he flatly said, “you won’t believe the sh** that happened to me.” He starts telling me about this pretty young thing he met in the club Saturday night. He spared no details; apparently, with a body like hers she should compete with Buffie the Body for the Horse Award. They exchanged numbers and planned to meet up the next day. The next day they spoke on the phone and set up a time to get together at her place. When he pulls up in front of her house he hears a bunch of commotion, sounds like some sort of domestic dispute. Things are crashing in the house; but he ignores it. Ms. Fatbooty, as Mos Def would call her, is not picking up her phone either. Again he hears a big boom. Before he could blink, the door opens up and there stands a man throwing a suitcase and the pretty young thing from the club out the door. She’s in a t-shirt sans underwear; she looks over to my cousin and then turns back to the door, banging so that the man will let her back in. My cousin, not wanting to end up in an episode of ‘where keeping it real goes wrong’, pulled off and then called the police. Later on when he spoke to her, she said the man gave her a black eye, apparently he beat the young lady up pretty bad. Continued at HipHopWired.com

Sh*t Is Real In Egypt: Violent Political Protest Enters Day Three

On Monday, we told you about civil unrest in Tunisia . Folks in Egypt are going through it this week too, as they fight for a new level of political freedom. The politically embattled nation of Egypt — rocked and stunned by an eruption of surprisingly bold street protests this week — is bracing for a major demonstration on Friday. There was still a smattering of street protesters in Egypt on Thursday after massive public protests on Tuesday and Wednesday calling for the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak convulsed the nation and prompted a tough security crackdown. There’s been talk of a huge outpouring after Friday prayers, and now two major symbols of opposition plan to make their presence known in the nation. The Muslim Brotherhood has called for its followers to demonstrate after the weekly Muslim prayers — the first time in the current round of unrest that the largest opposition bloc has told supporters to take to the streets. Mohamed ElBaradei, the Egyptian Nobel laureate and opposition leader, is returning home from Europe on Thursday and plans to participate in the big protests. “I am there to make sure that things will be managed in a peaceful way,” ElBaradei said as he was waiting to leave Vienna, Austria. “I have to give them as much support, political support, spiritual, moral, whatever I can do, you know,” he said. “I will be with them. They are my people, and I have to be there, and I’d like to see Egypt, a new Egypt.” The protest movement in Egypt has been fueled by blogs, Twitter and Facebook, and ElBaradei, who is also the former head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog agency, has been posting messages of support for the demonstrators on Twitter. In an interview Tuesday on CNN’s Connect the World, ElBaradei disputed a recent comment from U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the Egyptian government is stable. “Stability is when you have a government that is elected on a free and fair basis. And we have seen, you know, how the election has been rigged in Egypt. We have seen how people have been tortured,” he said. The outpouring of protests has led to unprecedented violence this week. Police turned water cannons and tear gas on protesters Wednesday to try to break up anti-government demonstrations as the Interior Ministry warned it “will not allow any provocative movement or a protest or rallies or demonstrations.” In the heart of Cairo, people were being beaten with sticks and fists and demonstrators were being dragged away amid tear gas. Witnesses saw security forces harassing journalists and photographers. Demonstrations continued into the nighttime hours. In Suez, the state-run Nile News TV reported violent clashes Wednesday night between security forces and protesters. At least 27 people were wounded, Nile News said, most of them police officers. Quoting provincial officials, the station said most of the clashes took place in the Alarbeen neighborhood and that looters attacked some shops. The Muslim Brotherhood said 35 people were injured in Suez and that security forces in the city had implemented a curfew there Wednesday night. Families and friends of people slain in Suez said angry demonstrations occurred because police didn’t hand over the bodies of those killed. There were at least three demonstrators who died in Suez, and a police officer was killed in Cairo. The Egyptian government cracked down on Twitter and Facebook today, hoping to somehow limit the chatter they say is fueling the protest. Or maybe as a way to stop the people from talking about the injustice they’re fighting against. Remember these things still happen in the world the next time you don’t think you need to be involved in the political process. It could just as easily be us. Source
