Jussie Smollett Gives First Interview Since Being Attacked & Shuts Down Rumors

Source: Stephen Green / Getty The ‘Empire’ Actor Recalls A Traumatic Night J ussie Smollett is finally speaking up after reports of his brutal attack by racist, homophobic MAGA must. Smollett sat down with Robin Roberts of Good Morning America for his first interview detailing his attack last month. He said he was in the middle of picking up some food from Subway in Chicago and was on the phone with his manager when someone called him a racist and homophobic slur. Jussie said a guy in a mask then punched him screaming “This MAGA country ni**er,” and Jussie punched him back, which resulted in a short scuffle outside. He said a second unknown guy jumped in, kicking Jussie in his back. In the interview with Robin, Jussie also addressed the doubters who might’ve thought he was lying about the whole incident: “I have to acknowledge the lies, and the hate. And it feels like if I had said it was a Muslim, or a Mexican, or someone black, I feel like the doubters would have supported me much more. A lot more. And that says a lot about the place that we are in our country right now… It’s not necessarily that you don’t believe that this is the truth, you don’t even want to see the truth. Smollett, who portrays the openly gay musician Jamal on Empire , said he suffered injuries to his clavicle bone and ribs during the attack. However, some still questioned his story: “For me, the main thing was the idea that I somehow switched up my story, you know? And that somehow maybe I added a little extra trinket, you know, of the MAGA thing,” Smollett said. “I didn’t need to add anything like that. They called me a f—-, they called me a n—-. There’s no which way you cut it. I don’t need some MAGA hat as the cherry on top of some racist sundae.” Jussie also addressed rumors that he was in the middle of a late night love visit when he got attacked. “I’ve heard that it was a date gone bad, which I also resent that narrative,” he said. “I’m not gonna go out and get a tuna sandwich and a salad to meet somebody. That’s ridiculous. And it’s offensive.” Jussie was actually hanging with his friend and creative director Frank Gatson in an apartment, and they got hungry, which prompted the Subway visit. Smollett said the only reports he heard that were inaccurate were the ones claiming the attackers were wearing MAGA hats, which they weren’t. Smollett also explained why he was initially reluctant to hand over his phone to the police: “They wanted me to give my phone to the tech for three to four hours. I’m sorry but — I’m not gonna do that. Because I have private pictures and videos and numbers: my partner’s number, my family’s number, my castmate’s number, my friends’ numbers, my private emails, my private songs, my private voice memos.” Jussie didn’t even want to call the police at first, but Gatson did it on his behalf. When the cops arrived, they said they found Smollett in his apartment with stained clothing and a “white rope draped around” his neck, according to the report. “I was looking at myself, just like checking myself out. I saw the bruise on my neck, you know, like the little — the rope burn around my neck,” he said. “So when the police came I kept the clothes on, I kept the rope on me. … I mean, it wasn’t, like, wrapped around. But, yeah, it was around because I wanted them to see.” Jussie said he believes the photos released of the two possible suspects are accurate. He’s hopeful that the police will track the culprits down, and he hopes his story will inspire other marginalized groups: “I think people need to hear the truth,” Jussie said. “Cause everybody has their own idea. Some are healing and some are hurtful, but I just want young people, young members of the LGBTQ community — young, black children — to know how strong that they are.” You can watch a clip of Jussie’s words below, then hit the next pages for more videos. “I want young people, young members of the LGTBQ community, young black children to know how strong they are.” @JussieSmollett thinks people need to hear “the truth” after his attack. https://t.co/b5efiP0JCG pic.twitter.com/YGVIDMipgC — Good Morning America (@GMA) February 14, 2019

I don’t believe it, not around here … Half the people are gay and the other half are black.” On Sunday, Chicago police said Smollett has yet to turn over data from his cellphone to verify that he was on the phone with his music manager, Brandon Moore, when he was attacked. Related:  Is Jussie Smollett Telling The Whole Truth About His Attack? “We have no reason to doubt the statements, but for a criminal investigation, we need to independently confirm the phone records,” Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. “We offered to take the phone to download the data and he expressed he couldn’t be without his phone for several hours.” Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson told the Daily News Smollett, 36, is being treated as a crime victim, but would be held accountable if cops learn he filed a false report. Albert Finney Dies; Legendary Actor Was 82

Sad news out of Hollywood today, as legendary actor Albert Finney has passed away at the age of 82. Finney’s family confirmed reports of his passing in a statement to the Associated Press Friday morning. “The family request privacy at this sad time,” read a brief statement. Few details were provided about the cause of Finney’s death, but the family indicated that he passed following “a short illness.” Finney fought kidney cancer in 2011, but it is not known if that illness played a role in his death. Amassing more than 60 credits over the course of his five decades in Hollywood, Finney’s resumé reads like a diverse list of some of the most beloved films of the past 50 years. Whether your tastes run toward action films ( Skyfall , the Bourne franchise), musicals ( Annie, Scrooge ), acclaimed dramas ( Erin Brockovich, Under the Volcano ), or thought-provoking indie fare ( Big Fish, Miller’s Crossing, Before the Devil Knows Your Dead ), Finney not only dabbled in your genre of choice, he helped define it. After rising to fame with his titular role in Tom Jones in 1963, Finney quickly gained a reputation as an actor’s actor. His love of the craft led Finney to continue working on Broadway even after finding success in Hollywood. He eventually earned two Tony nominations to go along with his staggering 5 Oscar nods. Finney also gained widespread acclaim and numerous nominations for his work as Winston Churchill in the 2002 television movie The Gathering Storm . Finney’s thoughtful insights on acting are often quoted by both veteran instructors and up-and-comers in search of inspiration. “I don’t think that we necessarily lie. I mean, we make our living by pretending that we’re someone else. I don’t tell tall tales. I always tell the truth,” he once remarked. “To be a character who feels a deep emotion, one must go into the memory’s vault and mix in a sad memory from one’s own life.” The actor turned down an offer of knighthood in 2000, arguing that the UK’s honors system serves to “perpetuate snobbery.” Finney was married three times, including his tempestuous 8-year romance with actress Anouk Aimée He is survived by his son, Simon, and his widow, Pene Delmage. Our thoughts go out to his family during this difficult time. View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

Offset Slams Chris Brown: I Know You Only Fight Women!

This explosive feud between Offset and Chris Brown started over a 21 Savage meme. Now, it’s personal, and Offset is calling out Chris for his appalling record of domestic violence. Chris is hitting back — to no one’s surprise — by calling Offset a coward and exposing his DMs for the world to see. “I ain’t really have too much rap for you on this social media s–t,” Offset wrote on Instagram. “But since that’s where you wanna take it,” the Migos rapper continued. “Tell the people why you had your management reach out to squash the s–t!” He’s exposing Chris for trying to have his management quietly quash their feud. “Check my record and check yours,” Offset accused. “Only people you go to toe to toe with is women that’s for lame nikkas ” Lame barely begins to describe the evil of domestic violence. “Oh and btw,” Offset concluded. “Ima smack the shit out you when I see you” Chris Brown published his DMs from Offset in retaliation, as captured by The Shade Room . Offset DMed Chris, using shorthand to ask “Where you at.” “I’m in LA,” Chris replied. “I’ll be home at 4 … like I said before.” “I’m wit all a dat,” Chris continued. “You can run me my fade today, no cap!” To run a fade means to fight at a scheduled time and place. Again using shorthand, Offset asks for Chris’ address. “You know where I stay!!!” Chris insists. “Google Maps! My address ain’t no secret spot.” “I’ll be there at 4,” Chris says, attempting to make it sound like he is eager for this confrontation. “Police,” Offset replies, clearly shaming Chris, and using a police emoji. “Naw, that’s ya’ll,” Chris fires back. “Ya’ll police.” “Not comin’ to your house when I see you know it’s up,” Offset writes, clearly refusing Chris’ bait. “Boy, you’re p–sy as hell,” Chris accuses. “You’re scared to fight?” “Stop DMing me,” Offset writes. “This police right here, bro.” “I’m a grown man,” Chris Brown insists. “You’re a little boy. I’ll be home at 4.” Chris then sets some conditions: “No opp s–t, cameras, police, none of that s–t.” “I’m just going to beat you the f–k up,” Chris vows. “MY ADDRESS,” Chris continues. “Please [show] up. I pray you come.” Offset replies: “12.” Chris fires back: “Boy, run me my fade. Stop acting p–sy.” It’s unclear if Chris really hopes to goad Offset into showing up for the confrontation. It may be that, at this point, he had decided that he would reveal the messages, and decided to go all in to “impress” his fans. While there are plenty of people who would risk their own safety to give Chris Brown a taste of what he deserves, Offset … should not. Not only is he a person with his own well-being to consider, but he’s also a father. We have all seen the photos of the kind of violence that Chris can inflict upon a person. By exposing his DMs with Offset, Chris hopes to shame Offset for not making good on his threats, even though it was the sensible choice. In the world of rap, a man’s perceived willingness to fight is sometimes linked with his reputation for authenticity. In other words, when Chris shared these DMs, he went for the jugular. WTF?! Groom Allegedly Gropes & Exposes Himself To Underage Waitress In The Middle Of His Wedding Reception

Source: Dario Loew-Albrecht / EyeEm / Getty He Also Has Lengthy Confrontation With The Cops Instead of having eyes only for his wife, one Pennsylvania groom allegedly set his predatory gaze on an underage waitress. According to The Inquirer , Matthew Aimers was arrested in Bucks County for sexually assaulting an underage girl. The incident reportedly went down at Aimers’ wedding reception. According to the affidavit of probable cause for arrest, Aimers, 31, approached an underage waitress at the Northampton Valley Country Club. He told the girl the two of them could “do whatever you want.” The waitress told the police she rejected Aimers’ advances, saying the interaction left her shaken. Aimers didn’t stop with his pursuits though. According to the affidavit, he followed the waitress into the women’s bathroom and pulled her into a stall that was empty. It was here that he sexually assaulted her and exposed himself, according to the waitress. When the girl tried to escape Aimers, he continued “to proposition her” and at one point, he offered her $100, according to the affidavit. The waitress was eventually able to break free and leave the bathroom. Hours later, as the reception was coming to an end, the Northampton Township police were called to the country club to address reports of a fight. When the cops arrived, they encountered Aimers “pushing and punching people,” according to an affidavit filed in that case. A country club employee told officers that the groom had punched him after he tried to prevent him from bringing alcohol outside. With the cops arrival, Aimers attempted to board a shuttle bus parked near the country club, and he ignored the police’s commands to stop, said the affidavit. That’s when one of the cops boarded the bus with his taser drawn, and he ordered Aimers to leave. However, Aimers kept arguing with the officer, calling him derogatory names and at one point, he even tried to provoke him with a fight, read the affidavit. When Aimers finally left the bus, he was taken into custody after a short struggle with the cops. Aimers was booked on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. For his reported run-in with the teen waitress, Aimers was charged with indecent assault, indecent exposure, imprisonment of a minor, harassment, and related offenses. Aimers was released from custody on Wednesday after posting 10 percent of $350,000 bail, according to court records. He faces a preliminary hearing for the sexual assault charges on February 21. On Thursday, his attorney Louis Busico said that Aimers “absolutely denies all charges.”

The Finesse Fell Through: New Jersey Man Caught On Tape Faking A ‘Slip and Fall’ For Insurance Fraud

Source: Westend61 / Getty Man Fakes A Fall At Work And Gets Charged With Fraud A man from New Jersey has officially been charged with fraud after surveillance footage showed him faking a “slip and fall” at his former workplace, according to reports from   CBS . The (honestly kind of hilarious) video shows 57-year-old Alexander Goldinsky purposely turning over a cup of ice onto the floor of his office’s break room. After then throwing the cup in the garbage, he walks back over and steps on an ice cube, and very unconvincingly “falls” on the floor. The man stayed there, laying on his back until he was discovered, CBS reports. Following this poor attempt at some insurance money for his “accident,” Goldinsky was later arrested on January 15 and charged with insurance fraud and theft by deception since, ya know, the fall seems completely non-accidental . The incident took place last year at an unidentified company in New Jersey, where Goldinsky was employed as an independent contractor. Following his arrest, he was released with a summons until he has to go to court in February. “Yes, I was brought to the police department,” he said to CBS New York. “I didn’t do it, it was a mistake.” But, on the contrary, authorities believe that the footage clearly shows he faked the fall. Following the incident, Goldinsky filed a claim for an ambulance and medical care at a hospital for the injuries he allegedly suffered. This is still an open and active investigation, according to prosecutors. The New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal is taking a bigger interest in cracking down on insurance fraud within the state, according to CBS New York. If you haven’t seen the video of Alexander Goldinsky’s “fall” just yet, take a peek down below. #Busted New Jersey man accused of faking a fall caught on camera. https://t.co/eVS5WxwoBl pic.twitter.com/ELB2cM42sH — Derick Waller (@wallerABC7) February 1, 2019
