Environmental Campaigner Swims Across Everest Glacial Lake

Lewis Gordon Pugh is a 40-year-old lawyer from Devon. He is an environmental campaigner who swum 1kilometers (0.62miles) across a glacial lake on Mount Everest to highlight the impact of global warming. Pugh wore only swimming trunks, goggles and swimming hat when he swum the 2C waters of Pumori Lake at 17,000 feet (5.300meters). He looks forward to bring the “world’s attention” to the melting of glaciers and its effect on the region. He has been nicknamed as the “human polar bear” for his cold water swims. He has completed the swim near the Khumbu Glacier in just 22 minutes and 51 seconds. He has already swum in Antarctica and across the North Pole to get attention to melting sea ice. On his latest trip, he experienced altitude sickness and freezing conditions. He said: “It’s one of the hardest swims I’ve ever undertaken. When I swam in Antarctica and across the North Pole I swam with speed and aggression but on Mount Everest you can’t use the same tactics. Because of the altitude you need to swim very slowly and deliberately. Swimming 20 meters at full speed in the test swim, I felt I was going to drown. I was gasping for air and if I had swum any faster I would have gone under.” Lewis Gordon Pugh is deeply concerned on how to find a delicate balance whether he’s going too fast or too slow, because this could cause him to get hypothermia. He advocates government to make tackling climate change as a priority because he has witnessed glaciers around the world and many were slowly melting away. British model Naomi Campbell celebrated lavishly her 40th birthday on the glamorous French Riviera. Campbell was given 40-white roses by Russian billionaire boyfriend Vladimir Doronin as for their one-year anniversary as well. The gorgeous bouquet was delivered to the Eden Roc Hotel to mark Naomi’s big day. The celebration was star-studded, attended by the great and the well-groomed, including Top Shop boss Philip Green and his daughter Chloe. Fellow model Eva Herzigova turned upwearing a thigh-skimming pale pink dress with silver stripes. Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony hitched a lift to the hotel with Philip Green, whose boat was used to ferry guests to the party. Sarah Ferguson and Princess Beatrice were also spotted arriving at the exclusive hotel to join in the celebrations. And while Grace Jones was snapped in the hotel grounds in what seemed like post-party attire, with a bath robe and towel wrapped around her head, Naomi looked the picture of elegance in a lilac dress and gladiator sandals. Earlier in the week, Naomi was living the high life aboard the Benetti built Silver Angel – a spacious 65metre-long boat, which can accommodate up to 12 guests within its seven en suite, roomy cabins. After dining in style at her regular haunt, the Eden Roc, the supermodel was taken back to the Silver Angel, before changing into her evening floor-length gown for the amfAR charity dinner at the Hotel du Cap. For someone who started out as a working class girl from Streatham, Naomi has certainly come a long way. She was brought up by in a single-parent family by mother Valerie (she’s never met her father) and was just a regular girl who attended a comprehensive school. Every time a certain important event is happening, Google contributes to it by having a related Doodle. Today, everyone has been amazed to see the famous arcade game Pac Man. It is not just a simple Doodle but a first ever interactive one. The Doodle is a real Pac Man game. Google is not celebrating Pac Man’s 30th Anniversary. 30 years of providing happiness to every gamer. Though the game doesn’t possess colorful charms and high tech weapons but the excitement every time the monsters would chase you is truly amazing. The game was developed by Namco and licensed for distribution in the U.S. by Midway. It was first released in Japan way back May 22, 1980. Megan Fox Is No Longer Appearing On Transformers’ Third Installment

Transformer ravisher Megan Fox, an American actress and model, is no longer appearing on the third installment of Transformer movie. The actress has confirmed rumors. “I chose to leave Transformers.” “Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3,” representative for the actress tells PEOPLE. “It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best.” According to reports, studio and film director Michael Bay is intending to cast another actress as star Shia LaBeouf’s love interest to move the story in a different direction. The film is set off to be released on July 2011 across United States. Fox is prepping for the June 18 release of Jonah Hex, an action film she stars in opposite Josh Brolin, John Malkovich and Will Arnett. Japan has hosted the world’s first wedding to be conducted by a robot. I-Fairy is an automated creature who conducted the wedding of Tomohiro Shibata and Satoko Inoue in Tokyo, Japan. Since the couple is connected to the thriving robotic industry, they have decided to use the robot to wed them. They said that the robot had brought them together, so it’s just appropriate to have one officiate at their wedding. It’s their natural choice.
