Argentina’s New Ambassador Has a SKINtillating Soft-Core Past [PICS]

Here’s some political news that won’t put you to sleep: Argentina’s new undersecretary to the Ministry of Culture is none other than soft-core legend Isabel Sarli . Isabel’s skinema career may have ended decades ago, but one gander at her photos and it’s obvious why they haven’t been forgotten. The sexbombastic Ms. Sarli started her career as a model and went on to win the title of Miss Argentina 1955 before her career took a very sensual turn in the films La Diosa impura (1963), Desnuda en la arena (1969), Fuego (1969), Fiebre (1970), and more. She even had the distinction of becoming the first Argentinean actress to do full frontal nudity on film, and in spite of censorship and persecution went on to became an international star. Now that’s how you put the “ass” back in ambassador! See pics after the jump!

Clear Eyes, Full Heart, Can’t Use: Did Mitt Romney Plagiarize ‘Friday Night Lights’?

Politicians have long appropriated pop culture to lend their campaigns relevancy and catchy hooks, so it wasn’t unprecedented when Republican nominee Mitt Romney began using the popular Friday Night Lights catchphrase “Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose” in his bid for the Presidency. That doesn’t mean filmmaker Peter Berg has to be happy about it. In an open letter to Romney, Berg — who directed 2004’s Friday Night Lights , adapted from H.G. Bissinger’s book about a small Texas town obsessed with football, and created its subsequent spin-off television series — slammed the former Governor of Massachusetts for using the now-famous FNL line. “Your politics and campaign are clearly not aligned with the themes we portrayed in our series,” wrote Berg, who described the citation as plagiarism. Via EW : Governor Romney: I created the TV show “Friday Night Lights” and came up with the phrase “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.” I was not thrilled when I saw that you have plagiarized this expression to support your campaign by using it on posters, your facebook page and as part of your stump speeches. Your politics and campaign are clearly not aligned with the themes we portrayed in our series. The only relevant comparison that I see between your campaign and “Friday Night Lights” is in the character of Buddy Garrity — who turned his back on American car manufacturers selling imported cars from Japan. Your use of the expression falsely and inappropriately associates “Friday Night Lights” with the Romney/Ryan campaign. Mitt, we all wish you and your family all the best. We are grateful for your support of our beloved show, but we are not in any way affiliated with you or your campaign. Please come up with your own campaign slogan. Sincerely, Peter Berg. To be fair, President Obama ‘s campaign also used the slogan, albeit less overtly and on Tumblr . I guess that was at least football-related, and therefore more closely aligned with the themes Berg & Co. portrayed in their series. [E W ] Follow Jen Yamato on Twitter . Paris Hilton Apologizes to Gay Community, Praises "Strongest and Most Inspiring People I Know"

In a letter to GLAAD , Paris Hilton issued a full apology and explanation, praising the gay community as the strongest and most inspiring group she knows.

Mitt Romney 2011 Tax Returns: Released!

Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann Romney, released their 2011 tax returns today. Spoiler alerts: They’re still really rich, and Democrats will call for him to release more! They paid $1.94 million in federal income taxes on income of $13.7 million, most of it from investments, for an effective tax rate of 14.1 percent, his campaign said. That’s slightly above the 13.9 percent rate the couple paid for 2010. The Republican presidential candidate’s taxes have emerged as an ongoing issue in the 2012 election, as he has declined to release any returns filed before 2010. Romney’s fortune and association with Bain Capital, the private equity firm he co-founded, have been lightning rods in his bid to unseat President Barack Obama. Critics, including Obama, have urged Romney to release more than just the two years of returns; for whatever reason, he has indicated he does not plan to do so. It’s been kind of a tough week for Mitt, with his 47 percent comment going viral, and even a surprising story about his eldest son Tagg Romney emerging today. What do you think? Should he release more tax returns? Election 2012: Who deserves to win?

Tagg Romney Abortion Controversy: Clause Added to Surrogacy Agreement

Mitt Romney’s son Tagg signed a surrogacy agreement that gave the surrogate, Tagg and his wife the right to abort her recent pregnancy, according to TMZ. Tagg, the oldest of Mitt’s five sons, had twins this year through a surrogate, and Mitt Romney covered some of the expenses connected with the arrangement. The twin boys, David Mitt and William Ryder, were born on May 4, 2012. Tagg and his wife Jen, along with the surrogate and her husband, signed a Gestational Carrier Agreement dated July 28, 2011. Paragraph 13 of it reads: “If in the opinion of the [physician or obstetrician] there is potential physical harm to the surrogate, the decision to abort or not abort is to be made by the surrogate.” “In the event the child is determined to be physiologically, genetically or chromosomally abnormal, the decision is to be made by the intended parents.” “In such a case the surrogate agrees to abort, or not to abort, in accordance with the intended parents’ decision.” “Any decision to abort because of potential harm to the child, or to reduce the number of fetuses, is to be made by the intended parents.” In other words, Tagg and Jen Romney gave the surrogate the right to abort the fetuses even if her life wasn’t in danger. Only “potential physical harm” was needed. The Romneys had the right to abort the fetuses if they felt they would not be healthy. Mitt Romney was involved in the surrogate arrangement because he paid some of the expenses, but it is unclear if he read the contract or knew the terms. The Republican presidential candidate has said he is in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest and the health and life of the mother. Otherwise, Romney says he’s against abortion, a position he didn’t always hold. Interestingly, Tagg used the same surrogate in 2009, and there was no Paragraph 13 providing for abortion at that time because Tagg and his wife didn’t want it. In 2011, when the second contract was being drafted, it was in there.

Obama in 1998: I Believe in Redistribution

An audio recording of President Obama speaking at Chicago’s Loyola University in 1998 has surfaced. In it, Obama outlines his belief in the redistribution of wealth. Sam Bacile Anti-Islam Video Called "Disgusting" By Hillary Clinton

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is sharpening her criticism of an anti-Islam video by Sam Bacile that provoked protests in the Arab world. Clinton says the YouTube film, titled Muhammad , is “disgusting and reprehensible” and termed it a cynical attempt to offend people for religious beliefs. Hillary noted, however, that the U.S. would never stop Americans from expressing their views, no matter how distasteful, as they are central to freedom. Muhammad Movie Trailer Sam Bacile, who reports say is an Israeli-American real estate developer, posted the trailer this summer. Little is known about the man; he’s gone into hiding. She also says the film is no justification for violence or attacks on diplomatic facilities and personnel; a U.S. ambassador was killed in Libya Tuesday. Clinton said Thursday the U.S. is monitoring protests in Yemen and elsewhere, urging countries to take steps to prevent protests escalating into violence.
