Heidi Klum Taking It "One Day at a Time" with Seal

Heidi Klum continues to take the high road in what she’s hoping does not become a public battle with her ex-husband. A couple weeks ago, Seal made it pretty clear that he believes Klum was “fornicating” with bodyguard Martin Kristen while still married to the singer. The artist then tried to clarify those comments – which the super model says came from a place of jealousy and anger – but the damage had already been done. “I don’t know if we’re the greatest friends right now, especially because of the things that he said,” Klum told to Katie Couric in a pre-taped interview for her talk show, Katie . “I just saw him on, on Sunday. We were talking and we’re in an okay place.” The estranged couple has four kids together, meaning they will remain a part of each other’s lives forever, rumors and infidelity accusations be damned. “It’s a work in progress,” Klum added of her relationship with Seal. “You have to take it one day at a time. It’s hard especially when you are in the public eye too.” “People are always looking at you closely and at everything you do. And they also don’t always see exactly how it really is.” “I haven’t felt like correcting every rumor that is out there. I’m focusing on moving forward.”

Pizza Guy Bear Hugs Obama, Trolls Go Nuts on Yelp

Big Apple Pizza owner Scott Van Nuzer received a visit from President Barack Obama Sunday in Fort Pierce, Fla., and reacted with a giant bear hug for the POTUS. Yelp trolls responded a little less positively. Irate, presumably conservative users flooded the rate and review website shortly afterward, sending Big Apple Pizza’s overall rating into a tailspin. “Talk about committing business suicide. After picking up Obama, your books are gonna be in the red pretty soon. Not too smart,” one “reviewer” posted . The commenter from Cottonwood, Ariz., 2,200 miles away, gave him 1/5 stars. Harsh. Hours later, though, Van Nuzer’s establishment had staged a comeback. Another Yelp commenter retaliated, “Really, conservatards? You try to trash a man’s business because he likes a different political candidate than you?” “What scum you all are. SCOTT VAN DUZER IS MY HERO!” Of the 229 comments listed on the page (30 “filtered,” one axed for violating terms of service), only two are pre-Obama bear hug. His overall rating is currently 5/5. The oldest review, posted in 2010, offers this assessment: “Nice variety of food for lunch or dinner. Love the Pizza, wings, subs, best stromboli in town. Great atmosphere in newly renovated dinning area, and flat screen TV’s … staff make you feel right at home. Special people and good food make for a local favorite.” Must have been what Obama read before deciding on Big Apple. Decision 2012:

Lindsay Lohan to Barack Obama: Millionaires Need Tax Cuts Too!

Lindsay Lohan feels she really needs a tax cut. Guess all those worthless lackeys, coke dealers, and lawyers really take a bite. Ohhhh, ziiing! No, seriously, she Tweeted at President Obama and asked for a tax cut. She’s since erased it from her feed, though as we all know, once it’s been out there on the Interwebs, someone’s likely seen and preserved it. Case in point? The following Twitter “exchange” … As President Obama’s convention speech alluded to last night, he wants to extend the current Bush-era tax breaks for all but the top earners in America. Lindsay does make a good point, though. Poor baby was just booted out of the Chateau Marmont after stiffing them on a $46,000 hotel bill . How’s she supposed to pay that with the government gouging her? Hopefully the Republicans stick with Paul Ryan as their point person for advocating conservative economic policy instead of the 26-year-old ne’er-do-well. This is the second most absurd Tweet Obama’s received from a troubled starlet this year, after Amanda Bynes’ plea for him to fire the cop who busted her for DUI.

Eastwooding: Empty-Chair Meme Explodes After Actor’s RNC Speech

The biggest story to come out of Thursday’s conclusion of the Republican National Convention was not Mitt Romney’s acceptance specch , but #Eastwooding. Eastwooding being the Twitter hashtag for parodies, jokes and memes at the expense of acting legend Clint Eastwood’s unusual, yet highly entertaining speech. The 82-year-old debated an invisible Obama in an empty chair in what had to be the strangest endorsement of Romney all week, and the Internet went nuts. Here’s the original photo – angled so Invisible Obama still uses a teleprompter (subtly hilarious) – along with some of our favorite celebrity-based parodies: Clint expressing utter disgust with Keanu Reeves’ first term: Clint debating Paris Hilton (basically an empty void of air): President Obama actually showing up for the debate: Clint debating the Princess Leia hologram from Star Wars: McKayla Maroney is not impressed by the stunt (or most other things):

Karl Rove Jokingly Suggests Someone Should Murder Todd Akin; Senate Candidate Not Pleased

The office of embattled Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO) is pretty furious with GOP activist and former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove. For joking that Akin should be bumped off, obviously. Businessweek reports that Rove spoke about Akin – who is facing calls to drop his bid for Missouri’s U.S. Senate seat – at a GOP donors’ breakfast in Tampa. The site says Rove quipped to the audience: “We should sink Todd Akin. If he’s found mysteriously murdered, don’t look for my whereabouts!” Akin’s office issued a statement calling the quote “deeply disturbing,” given that the FBI is investigating real threats following Todd Akin legitimate rape controversy. He’s vowing to stay in the race despite the criticism he’s endured since suggesting rape victims rarely get pregnant because the body will “shut the whole thing down.” Many influential Republicans – Rove included – wish he would bow out, believing another candidate would have a better chance against incumbent Claire McCaskill. Should Akin drop out of the race?

Ann Romney Republican National Convention Speech: Spreading the Love

Ann Romney, the wife of Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, addressed the party’s convention last night to discuss life, challenges, and her husband. “Tonight, I want to talk to you about love,” the warm and engaging Mrs. Romney said, regaling the crowd with stories of the couple’s courtship and marriage. The goal of her speech: Help people understand the personal side of her husband, a successful and decent man but one who struggles to connect with voters. Think she succeeded? Take a look below …

Republican Party Platform to Call For Constitutional Ban on Abortion, No Exception For Rape

Draft language for the official 2012 Republican Party platform reportedly includes support for a constitutional ban on abortion without exclusions. In other words, abortions would not be permitted even in cases of rape or incest. The news comes amid the ongoing Todd Akin legitimate rape controversy and calls for the GOP Senate candidate to drop out of the race. Akin, who opposes all abortions, remarked that rape victims rarely get pregnant because the female body finds ways to “shut that whole thing down.” The GOP Congressman running against Sen. Claire McCaskill has faced calls to abandon his campaign from both parties after making the comment. Despite the firestorm Akin ignited, leaked details on the Republican party’s position reveal that nationally, Republicans generally agree with him: “Faithful to the ‘self-evident’ truths enshrined in the Declaration of Independence, we assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed,” the GOP platform states. “We support a human life amendment to the Constitution and endorse legislation to make clear that the Fourteenth Amendment’s protections apply to unborn children.” Kirk Cameron would definitely approve … but what about the GOP standard-bearer? Presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s campaign moved swiftly to distance itself from Akin’s remarks. His spokesman Andrea Saul said: “Governor Romney and Congressman Ryan disagree with Mr. Akin, and a Romney-Ryan administration would not oppose abortion in instances of rape.” Yet the statement is a departure from Ryan’s, which has been that abortion should only be legal in cases where the life of the mother is at risk. Ryan sponsored a fetal personhood bill, which would effectively criminalize abortion and some forms of birth control without exceptions for rape victims. Romney personally told the National Review this week, “Congressman’s Akin comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, wrong.” “Like millions of other Americans, we found them to be offensive.” Should Akin drop out?
