Mitt Romney Introduces Paul Ryan as "The Next President of the United States"

Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan for Vice President this morning, and apparently thinks very highly of him, as Paul received a promotion within five minutes! Okay, not really, but in introducing the Wisconsin Congressman and rising GOP star to a Norfolk, Va., crowd, Romney finished his remarks with a gaffe: “Join me in welcoming the next President of the United States, Paul Ryan!”

Ted Nugent: Obama Represents Everything Wrong With Humanity, Mitt Romney Everything Good

Love him or loathe him, Ted Nugent will never sugar coat his views. As such, it’s only a matter of time until he makes more headlines because of them. Actually, compared to some of his recent tirades against President Barack Obama – encouraging fans to chop heads off , etc. – this one isn’t that bad. Nugent was as extreme and unfiltered as ever when asked about the 2012 election in a recent interview. How does he size up the presidential race? With President Obama and Mitt Romney running tied or close to it in most polls, Ted sees the contrast as one that could not be more polarizing: “On important issues, I am saddened to admit that Obama represents everything bad about humanity and Romney pretty much all that is good.” “It is really that stark.” Nugent, of course, raised eyebrows earlier this year when he said that “if you can’t go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil, America-hating administration, I don’t even know what you’re made of.” Safe to say he’s voting for Mitt in November. President Obama: Anne Hathaway Was The Best Part Of The Dark Knight Rises

Yesterday at a $35,800-per-ticket fundraiser at the Westport, Connecticut home of Harvey Weinstein, President Obama big upped fellow dinner guest/event co-host Anne Hathaway while pretty much nailing his critique of The Dark Knight Rises : “She’s spectacular,” POTUS enthused. “I got a chance to see Batman, and she was the best thing in it. That’s just my personal opinion.” Ours too, Mr. President. Ours, too. According to a pool report, President Obama also praised Aaron Sorkin (“[he] writes the way every Democrat in Washington wished they spoke”) while Weinstein paid him his own Hollywood-themed compliment, calling Obama “the Paul Newman of American presidents.” The President was expected to raise $2.5 million between the Weinstein-hosted event and an appearance in Stamford, CT earlier in the day. No word on what he thought of all those pesky plot holes . [ Deadline ]

Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas on Balance Beam: Did They Win Medals?

Americans Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas gave it their all on the balance beam at the London Olympics today. Did either come away with a medal? Find out below if you want to know before it airs tonight … As the final competitor of the event, Aly Raisman earned a bronze, but not until her score was adjusted amid controversy and she won a tie-breaker. The very same one that screwed her out of a bronze earlier in the Olympics, as fate would have it. So what the heck happened on the balance beam? Chinese gymnasts Deng Linlin and Sui Lu had posted scores of 15.6 and 15.5, virtually assuring themselves of silver and gold medals, respectively. Romania’s Catalina Ponor was third at 15.066, a score Aly Raisman had a good shot at beating. She came just up short, however, at 14.966. The U.S. quickly put in an inquiry regarding the degree of difficulty score awarded to Aly and after the judges conferred, they raised it by 0.1. That tied her with Ponor, but Aly’s execution score was higher and that got her a bronze on nearly the exact grounds the lost it for her in the all-around. Degree of difficulty is not considered subjective – it is based on technical elements that are either present or not present – and is the only thing that can be reviewed. Her teammate Gabby, meanwhile, had a costly fall that put her in seventh. Douglas has failed to medal in both the beam and uneven bars. Don’t feel too bad for her, though. Gabby Douglas’ net worth should skyrocket soon after her amazing team and individual all-around titles.

Kristen Stewart Apologies for "Momentary Indiscretion" with Rupert Sanders

WOW . Kristen Stewart has come out and owned up to a romantic interlude with director Rupert Sanders . Within hours of an Us Weekly cover blasting this story to the world, and with photos of a kiss between Stewart and Sanders heating up the Internet, the actress has taken the very rare course of admitting to her actions and addressing the man most affected by them, boyfriend Robert Pattinson. “I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” the actress said in a just-released statement. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.” This is a remarkable development all around, considering Stewart and Pattinson rarely acknowledge they are even dating. But Stewart gave herself no choice here but to accept responsibility for her cheating ways. Could it actually affect the box office haul of Breaking Dawn Part 2 ? How will Twihards react to the many appearances Kristen is likely to make in promotion of that film? Will Robsten stay together? So many questions. Not many answers at the moment. Just a stunned, crushed fan base trying to determine its next step.

Colorado Shooting Prompts Celebrity Debate Over Gun Control

While the country continues to mourn the losses incurred inside an Aurora, Colorado movie theater last week, and while new information continues to leak out about shooting James Holmes , a debate has also taken shape around America: Considering the types of automatic weapons Holmes purchased legally, should the topic of gun control be more firmly addressed in light of the latest massacre? Mayor Michael Bloomberg has made his feelings on the topic known, as have a number of celebrities . Let’s focus on two because they possess such contrasting opinions. In an interview over the weekend, rapper/actor Ice-T took expressed his take: “The right to bear arms is because it’s the last form of defense against tyranny… If somebody wants to kill people, they don’t need a gun to do it.” He later Tweeted: “If you go into the jungle…. Will you NOT get eaten because you’re a vegan??” Now, let’s hear from Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame, also via Twitter: “I cannot understand support for legality of the kind of weapon in this massacre. It’s a military weapon. Why should it be in non-mil hands?” Two sides. One contentious issue. Where do YOU stand? Should automatic weapons be made legally available to the public?

POLL: Should Mitt Romney Release More Tax Returns?

It’s an issue Democrats will not let go of, and one even many Republicans now believe must be addressed: Mitt Romney has released tax returns from 2010 and 2011. But he has so far refused to delve further into his past, raising questions about what sort of loopholes or offshore accounts the Presidential candidate is hiding. “We’ve given all people need to know and understand about our financial situation and about how we live our life,” Ann Romney said today on Good Morning America. But even prominent conservatives such as Haley Barbour think Romney ought be more forthright, and a USA Today survey of 539 adults show one-third of Republicans agree . It hasn’t been the best week for Romney. He was booed during an NAACP after making a comment about Obamacare . Where do you stand on the tax return issue? Should Romney release more documents?

Rush Limbaugh on The Dark Knight Rises Villain: Liberal Conspiracy!

Rush Limbaugh recently referred to a Georgetown student as a slut because she wanted to have birth control covered by her health insurance plan. Incredibly, however, this comment was positively rational compared to the conspiracy theory spewed forth by the radio host on Tuesday. Discussing The Dark Knight Rises and its primary villain, a terrorist played by Tom Hardy named Bane, Limbaugh went off about the clear connection between this bad guy’s name and the issue Democrats have been hammering home in recent election ads: Mitt Romney’s role in the company Bain. It’s a conspiracy, people! “The villain in The Dark Knight Rises is named Bane, B-a-n-e,” Limbaugh ranted. “What is the name of the venture capital firm that Romney ran and around which there’s now this make-believe controversy? Bain. “The movie has been in the works for a long time. The release date’s been known, summer 2012 for a long time. Do you think that it is accidental that the name of the really vicious fire breathing four eyed whatever it is villain in this movie is named Bane?” Well, readers, he’s asking: Do you think it’s a coincidence? Or is Christopher Nolan a secret agent for Barack Obama? Weigh in now: Are liberals behind the casting of Bane in The Dark Knight Rises?
