Sorry Newt: Donald Trump Endorses Mitt Romney

Donald Trump endorsed Mitt Romney today in Las Vegas, Nev., contrary to earlier reports that he would get behind Newt Gingrich for the GOP nomination. “Mitt is tough. He is smart,” Trump said, Romney at his side at a Las Vegas hotel bearing his name. “It is my honor, and privilege to endorse Mitt Romney.” Perhaps not coincidentally, Trump’s announcement comes two days before the Nevada caucuses, and 10 days before the premiere of Celebrity Apprentice . Probably more so the latter. While some questioned whether Romney, a clear favorite in Nevada, would even want the endorsement of Trump, the Republican said he was glad to have it. “It means a great deal to have the endorsement of Mr. Trump,” Romney said, referring to the publicity maven the same way contestants on his show do. Trump told reporters in Las Vegas ahead of the official announcement that he would hit the campaign trail on behalf of the Republican front-runner. “Well they’d like me to and I’ll do as much as I can,” Trump said, adding that he would also consider donating to the Super PAC supporting Romney. Several media outlets, including CBS News, The AP and The New York Times , erroneously reported that Trump would endorse Newt Gingrich instead. Trump blamed the Gingrich campaign for spreading that word. Referring to the Gingrich campaign, he said: “They put that out. You know that right?” If so … what an epic fail by Newt.

Newt Gingrich: Sued Over "Eye of the Tiger" Intro Music!

Poor Newt Gingrich. Already under siege from Super PACs, media members and politicians in the tank for Mitt Romney , guy is about to lose his own theme song! The candidate is being sued by a company which owns the rights to Survivor’s 1982 hit “Eye of the Tiger,” for using the inspirational Rocky III tune at campaign events. Rude Music Inc., owned by a member of Survivor, filed the suit against Newt for jacking the song to push a political agenda … that the band clearly isn’t a fan of. Newt, who has surged into contention for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, has been using the song at various political events from 2009-present. And probably not for much longer. Newt Gingrich Enters to Eye of the Tiger RMI claims Gingrich, along with his campaign team, Newt 2012, Inc., recently

Things Young Americans Should Consider When Voting

Continue reading here:

You’re between the ages of 18-24, life feels like its moving 100 miles a minute and you may feel like you have no place in the political system. But you do. As a matter of fact, the people you elect to public offices can have a HUGE impact on your life. Here are some things every young American should consider when voting Does the person I’m voting for have a plan? Most members of Congress and candidates talk a lot about the need to reduce our deficit and control the national debt, but few have a realistic plan.  Before you head to the voting booth find out which candidates have a plan and see if it makes since.  Are they telling you that we can balance the budget by just cutting spending or raising taxes?  If so they probably don’t have a realistic plan or a clear understanding of the problem. Does my candidate have a plan to create jobs for the future? We all know that jobs are the number one issue with voters this year, but as young Americans you need to think of more than just jobs in the near term.  The world we will face is much different than that of our parents.  It will be one of increased competition and decreasing resources.  Does your candidate have a plan not only to create jobs but the high skilled ones we will need to be competitive with the rest of the world? What are they going to do about education? Read More HERE

Jan Brewer, President Obama Trade Barbs on Tarmac

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer received an earful from President Obama when she met him on an airport tarmac outside Phoenix yesterday – and responded in kind. The Democratic chief executive and Republican governor could be seen engaged in an intense conversation right at the base of Air Force One’s steps. Both could be seen smiling, but speaking forecefully at the same time. At one point, Jan Brewer pointed a finger directly in Barack Obama’s face. Why? Asked later what the conversation was about, Brewer, who recently published Scorpions for Breakfast , said, “He was a little disturbed about my book.” Jan Brewer Points Finger at Obama Something of a memoir of her years growing up, Scorpions defends her signing of Arizona’s controversial law cracking down on undocumented immigrants. Obama, who opposes that law, was objecting to Brewer’s description of a meeting they had at the White House in June 2010. Bad blood has boiled since. Brewer described Obama as lecturing her like “a little kid in a classroom, if you will, and he was this wise professor … I felt minimized to say the least.” The Governor also said that later that year, Obama blew her off when he was in town to deliver the commencement address at Arizona State University. On the tarmac Wednesday, Brewer handed Obama an envelope with a handwritten invitation to meet her for lunch and to join her for a visit to the border. “I said to him, you know, I have always respected the office of the president and that the book is what the book is,” she told reporters Wednesday. She said Obama was upset that she wrote he was not cordial: “I said that I was sorry he felt that way. Anyway, we’re glad he’s here, and we’ll regroup.” The President is visiting the Grand Canyon State to push for initiatives laid out in his State of the Union address , which began his reelection bid in earnest. State of the Union Fallout: Will Populist Message Help Obama?

Aside from the optimistic platitudes, soaring rhetoric and feel-good proposals, President Barack Obama’s 2012 State of the Union address was overtly populist and unquestionably combative as he maps a path to a second term in 2013. Obama’s speech included no shortage of appeals to unity, bipartisanship and overriding American purpose, and he articulated plenty of vague, popular-sounding policy goals, similarly to how Bill Clinton kicked off his 1996 campaign. His central message, though, stressed a sharp and basic philosophical contrast with his ideological opponents, clearly forming the centerpiece of his reelection effort. While Obama prevailed in 2008 as a change agent – a more progressive implementer of American ideals than his GOP opponents, certainly, but still a post-partisan uniter – he appears to be taking a dramatically different tack in 2012. Can this new, 2012 version of Obama recapture the same campaign magic, however? Will independent voters return to him over the Republican alternative? With approval ratings in the mid-40s, he’s clearly banking on it, since this seemed in many respects a speech designed to align him with the “99 percent.” You tell us: President Obama in 2012?

Jay Leno Sued Over Sikh Mitt Romney Joke

Jay Leno is facing more than criticism over his recent joke at Mitt Romney’s expense. A Bakersfield, Calif., resident is suing him over the Sikh comedic bit. The punchline of the joke was that Romney, the very wealthy businessman and GOP presidential candidate, spends his summers in a solid gold palace. Jay pulled up a photo of India’s Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple of Amritsar, an extremely sacred building in the eyes of the Sikh people. Jay Leno Mitt Romney Joke There’s been a lot of outrage among Sikhs, but one man, Dr. Randeep Dhillon took his religious fervor one step further, filing a libel lawsuit against Leno. Dhillon claims Jay is responsible for encouraging hatred and ridicule of his religion and is suing for general and punitive damages. The rationale there? According to Randeep, Leno’s Mitt Romney joke “falsely portrays the holiest place in the religion instead as a vacation resort owned by a non-Sikh.” LOL. Not to encourage Randeep suing us as well, but come on dog.

Florida Presidential Debate: Ron Paul Edition!

We counted 21 questions for Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich at last night’s GOP debate in Florida, with 12 for Rick Santorum, and a mere eight for Ron Paul. To a point, we get that this is influenced by results and polling … but on the flip side, aren’t results and polling likely to be based on amount of exposure? Why not give candidates equal free media exposure at the debates? It’s not like these are fringe guys really. Ron Paul has a strong third and second place finish and polls in double digits everywhere; Santorum won Iowa . Makes no sense. Fortunately, we came across this highlight reel of Paul’s answers from the debate in Tampa. Let’s hear it for video editing and YouTube! Florida Debate Highlights: Ron Paul Edition!

Gabrielle Giffords to Resign from Congress

We cannot change that,” Giffords said in a video on her website. “I don’t remember much from that horrible day, but I will never forget the trust you placed in me to be your voice. Thank you for your prayers and for giving me time to recover. I have more work to do on my recovery. So to do what is best for Arizona, I will step down this week.” Giffords is expected to attend the State of the Union Address on Tuesday night and then submit a letter of resignation to House Speaker John Boehner and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer.
