Miley Cyrus posted this picture on twitter 21 hours ago. I have been staring at this picture for 21 hours. It is amazing…. I like this reinvented Miley, it works for me, all sexed up in a sexed up society, like a little Rihanna who doesn’t need to be on all fours because Disney has made her enough money to retire on, but who chooses to be like this, because all girls are sluts and like being jerked off to…thank god for that. I mean seriously, this bitch could move to the farm and live the good life with horses, but instead she wants to make rap music, fuck d-boys and rappers, and tweak. I like where pop culture is going.
Last year, independent film gave us Elizabeth Olsen, and this year it appears the spotlight is set to shine on her Martha Marcy May Marlene co-star Julia Garner. But whether she’s doing an indie film like Electrick Children or Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s upcoming Sin City 2 , Garner says “it’s all about finding a good story”. What’s the story behind Electrick Children ? Kickstarter! When writer/director Rebecca Thomas and producer Jessica Caldwell, then film students at Columbia, wanted to fund her feature film about a Mormon teenager’s voyage of discovery they turned to the popular website – and literally struck gold. More Mormons? Yes it looks like pop culture isn’t done with the religious group yet, Thomas told me she “wanted to adapt the Virgin Mary story from the Bible, and thought if there was ever a girl who thought she had immaculate conception it would probably be from one of these really closed-off fundamentalist communities.” Check out my full interview at The Cinema Society and Make Up For Ever’s NYC screening below: Follow Grace Randolph on Twitter . Wearing a stunning Armani Prive beaded dress, Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain looked the polar opposite of her CIA agent character in Zero Dark Thirty. “I’m such a fan of movies, I just love cinema,” she told Ryan Seacrest of the inspiration for her dress. “It’s a very ‘Happy Birthday, Mr. President’ kind of dress.” “It reminds me of old Hollywood glamour.” Channeling her inner Marilyn wasn’t an easy call. Chastain admitted it was ” a very tough decision ” picking out a dress this year, given the number of options on the table now that she’s a Best Actress nominee. Along for the red-carpet ride? Jess’ grandmother, who said she couldn’t be more proud. “Twice in two years? This is so cool,” the cool Michael Kors-clad granny said. Sadly, the 35-year-old Chastain isn’t keeping her accessories. Showing off her Harry Winston bracelet, she confessed it would indeed have to go back Monday morning. But, she added, “We’ll see if they can find me at 10 a.m.” Hopefully they don’t have to send a repo guy after her. Either way, her gown is widely considered to have been one of the best of the 2013 Oscars … something the Anne Hathaway Oscars dress can’t claim.
Kat Graham is under the spell of a new hair color. The actress – who plays Bonnie Bennett on The Vampire Diaries and also just released a new pop music album – debuted a much lighter hair color at last night’s Oscar viewing party, hosted by Elton John. It was an event also attended by co-stars Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley , but our focus for now is on Graham’s new ‘do. Are you a fan? What do you think of the blonde hair? Love it! Hate it! If you have deep pockets (and hopefully a lifetime supply of B12), you can now own a piece of Jersey Shore history. Snooki is selling her car on eBay. Her Cadillac Escalade has fetched bids in excess of $77,000! The pink-trimmed Cadillac Escalade is truly one of a kind. The ad reads, “This 2011 Cadillac Escalade is currently owned by Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi . It is the actual car that she has driven in many of her TV appearances.” “This is not a vehicle that you can buy every day.” The ad also indicates that the car has been custom designed to the new mom’s specific specs; custom wheels, ambient lighting, and “hot pink” trim. The car auction was seemingly started by a friend of Snooki’s, who has also reminds buyers that “it is an opportunity to own a piece of pop culture history!” Snooki has even autographed the hood of the car. The auction was posted with the title “2011 Cadillac Escalade ext” with the car based in Marlboro, N.Y. The highest bid is currently listed as $77,510. No word if Sitch’s boxers are also for sale.
Haley Joel Osment is an interesting child star because he has become Emily Osment…. You know most child stars, when they are no longer cute or interesting to the public, you know after puberty….turn to drugs and self-destruction to deal with the rejection the world has thrown there way…but this proactive young man…said…you know what…I’m gonna do this girl thing cuz life is way easier for girls..girls don’t even have to be hot or pretty…they just have to be willing to get half naked… So here he is promoting himself in a bikini for his instagram….unless this is actually his “sister” and not just a front…but how would you explain them never being in the same room, at the same event, or in the same picture…. Exactly.
Rihanna has a fun instaram…from low quality…almost ghetto promo pics for Barbados…featuring parts of her…like her ass….and titties…along with nonsense captions….to her in a bikini showing off her decent at best body….to her controversial naked in bed with a wedding veil on picture from the day after Halloween….this girl…in all her craziness that was bound to happen…since being a ghetto, poor girl in the islands prior to being the biggest fucking thing ever….fucks a person up….and at least it fucked her up in a half naked way….I mean her life is crazier than a fucking lottery win….and she’s probably torn from all angles trying to make sense of it…especially since she’s all uneducated on top of it…so getting beat up and beating up….to telling us all to fuck ourselves..then producing pics to help us fuck ourselves…make Rihanna pretty fucking special to me….probably the best thing pop culture has to offer…and we should thank her for that via our collective masturbation.
Wonder if she’ll cover any LGBT-related issues ? If you don’t remember, Queen had her own talk show back in 1999. This new refresh is dubbed to be a better run though and has some serious backers. According to Essence: Queen Latifah’s talk show has been given the green light by CBS! The Queen Latifah Show is set to debut fall 2013 and will feature celebrity guests, comedy, pop culture, musical performances and more. The show will be executive produced by Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment. This is the actress’ second shot at day time TV. With all of the talk shows out there, and some getting cancelled after two seasons (shout out to Anderson Cooper), will QL have what it takes to last?? Images via WENN
Politicians have long appropriated pop culture to lend their campaigns relevancy and catchy hooks, so it wasn’t unprecedented when Republican nominee Mitt Romney began using the popular Friday Night Lights catchphrase “Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose” in his bid for the Presidency. That doesn’t mean filmmaker Peter Berg has to be happy about it. In an open letter to Romney, Berg — who directed 2004’s Friday Night Lights , adapted from H.G. Bissinger’s book about a small Texas town obsessed with football, and created its subsequent spin-off television series — slammed the former Governor of Massachusetts for using the now-famous FNL line. “Your politics and campaign are clearly not aligned with the themes we portrayed in our series,” wrote Berg, who described the citation as plagiarism. Via EW : Governor Romney: I created the TV show “Friday Night Lights” and came up with the phrase “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can’t Lose.” I was not thrilled when I saw that you have plagiarized this expression to support your campaign by using it on posters, your facebook page and as part of your stump speeches. Your politics and campaign are clearly not aligned with the themes we portrayed in our series. The only relevant comparison that I see between your campaign and “Friday Night Lights” is in the character of Buddy Garrity — who turned his back on American car manufacturers selling imported cars from Japan. Your use of the expression falsely and inappropriately associates “Friday Night Lights” with the Romney/Ryan campaign. Mitt, we all wish you and your family all the best. We are grateful for your support of our beloved show, but we are not in any way affiliated with you or your campaign. Please come up with your own campaign slogan. Sincerely, Peter Berg. To be fair, President Obama ‘s campaign also used the slogan, albeit less overtly and on Tumblr . I guess that was at least football-related, and therefore more closely aligned with the themes Berg & Co. portrayed in their series. [E W ] Follow Jen Yamato on Twitter .
