President Ahmedinejad Threatens U.S. With War ‘Without Boundaries’

Iranian President Says Country Will Defend Its Nuclear Facilities Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad warned the Obama administration today that if Iran's nuclear facilities are attacked, the U.S. will face a war that “would know no boundaries.” The Iranian president, who is in New York for the annual meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, spoke at a breakfast meeting with reporters and editors at Manhattan's Warwick Hotel. He said that Iran is on the brink of becoming a nuclear power, and warned Israel and the U.S. against attacking its nuclear facilities. Asked about the possibility of a U.S.-supported Israeli air strike against Iran, the fiery Iranian leader said an attack would be considered an act of war, and suggested the U.S. is unprepared for the consequences. Such a war “would know no boundaries,” Ahmedinejad said. “War is not just bombs.” Iran claims it has no plans to make a nuclear weapon, but the country is faced with United Nations sanctions, spearheaded by the U.S., meant to convince Iran to comply with international regulations and abandon its nuclear program. In a wide-ranging question-and-answer session, Ahmedinejad said he was prepared to meet with the Obama administration, but that “the whole outlook has to shift.” Sanctions in particular, he said, had damaged the chances for an improvement in U.S.-Iranian relations. He took some credit for last week's release of Sarah Shourd, one of three American hikers who were jailed 14 months ago and accused of espionage. The decision to free Shourd, he said, was a judgment made by the judiciary and by Ahmedinejad himself. “A combination of both” a judicial act and an act of sympathy, he said. Shourd, who still faces charges, had to guarantee a $500,000 bond before she was released. Her fiance and and another male friend remain in Iranian custody. Ahmedinejad acknowledged the possibility that Palestinian leaders may ultimately make peace with Israel, he questioned the legitimacy of Palestinian negotiators and raised questions about the Holocaust that have marked his tenure as president. http://www.prisonplanet.com/president-ahmedinejad-threatens-u-s-with-war-without… added by: im1mjrpain

Kim Kardashian Talks Justin Bieber Beef With Chelsea Handler

‘I used to like her,’ reality star teases about VMA host. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Rya Backer Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber Photo: Larry Busacca/ Getty Images Everyone loves a good catfight, and it seems like one just might happen at Sunday’s Video Music Awards . VMA presenter and reality starlet Kim Kardashian admits that, since host Chelsea Handler called Justin Bieber a “two face” and blamed Kardashian for stealing her man, things have been tense. “Chelsea and I have this, you know, [beef],” she joked at a QVC Fashion’s Night Out event in New York on Friday (September 10). “I used to like her. We’re on the same network, but now it’s just, you know … we can’t really be in the same room together. It gets really bad on the E! studios. They have totally roped off Chelsea on one section, me on the other. You know, it’s, I don’t want to talk about it.” Handler has been quite open about her discomfort with Bieber’s love-’em-and-leave-’em style. “He’s using the flirty card with everybody he meets, and I’m not gonna fall for that,” she said. “I’m 35 years old. I only have about five good years left in me, and I’m not going to waste my time on that guy.” While Kardashian might not be excited to run into Handler on Sunday night, she is looking forward to the possibility of her pal, Bieber, taking home a Moonman for Best New Artist. “That’s amazing! I wish him the best of luck,” she said. “I hope he wins it. I don’t know who he’s up against, but I hope he wins.” The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday. The party starts with MTV News’ VMA Pre-Show at 8 p.m., followed by the main event at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for Best New Artist from now through Sunday. Related Videos VMA 2010 Exposed Related Artists Justin Bieber

NBC Chief Jeff Zucker Open to Political Run, Bringing Couric Back to Network

We’ve heard the knocks on NBC and the institutional bias that exists in its network – from the subtle spin in its flagship network’s news coverage at NBC to the over-the-top bias at its cable news channel MSNBC. So maybe the man behind the curtains at NBC Universal would like to be more overt with his opinions – as a politician? On MSNBC’s Aug. 25 “Morning Joe,” Jeff Zucker, president and CEO of NBC Universal, addressed both his possible political aspirations and bringing back one of the network’s former star personalities. Host Joe Scarborough asked Zucker where his political interests were at this stage. “You know Joe – look, politics is something I’ve always had an interest in,” Zucker said. “It is something I’ve always thought about. It is not something that is on my current radar. It’s not something I’m thinking about in the next few years, but it is something that I would always consider. I think – I love politics. I would love to give back. I would love to serve. I would love to do something, but it is not imminent. It’s nothing now.”  That set Zucker up for a question from Scarborough – if he was holding out to bring Couric back to the peacock network where she was a fixture at NBC’s “Today” from 1991 until 2006. “You are going to wait until you get Katie Couric back at NBC then you’re going to get into politics?” Scarborough asked.  It’s been no secret the Katie Couric project at the “CBS Evening News” has not produced the results that were anticipated. Couric’s broadcast just tied its all-time low in total viewers with an average of 4.89 million tuning in during the five days. Zucker dodged Scarborough’s inquiry, but Scarborough continued to press him on the topic.  ZUCKER: I think those are two separate issues there. SCARBOROUGH: Is Katie coming back to NBC? ZUCKER: Well I think she is fully ensconced in a job today and she’s happy where she is. SCARBOROUGH: No, she’s not. Come on. You’re talking like a politician. She hates it over there. ZUCKER: Oh, I don’t know that’s the case. SCARBOROUGH: No, it’s the case. MIKA BRZEZINSKI: That’s not politically correct. SCARBOROUGH: Since she doesn’t like it where she is — ZUCKER: I thought we were talking politics here for a second. BRZEZINSKI: I was going to ask you about the mosque. SCARBOROUGH: This is your first press conference here buddy. So since she doesn’t like where she is, since you have a great relationship with Katie, would you like Katie Couric back at NBC? Zucker relented, saying he would be open to the possibility of Couric returning to NBC in some capacity. “I always said that, look Katie would be a great addition wherever she is,” Zucker said. “If the time were right, I think that’s something we would look at. But she’s under contract now, and I think she’s happy where she is, whether you believe it or not, so I’m not going to wade into that controversy.”

Saudi Clerics Advocate Adult Breast-Feeding

(June 5) — Women in Saudi Arabia should give their breast milk to male colleagues and acquaintances in order to avoid breaking strict Islamic law forbidding mixing between the sexes, two powerful Saudi clerics have said. They are at odds, however, over precisely how the milk should be conveyed. A fatwa issued recently about adult breast-feeding to establish “maternal relations” and preclude the possibility of sexual contact has resulted in a week's worth of newspaper headlines in Saudi Arabia. Some have found the debate so bizarre that they're calling for stricter regulations about how and when fatwas should be issued. Sheikh Al Obeikan, an adviser to the royal court and consultant to the Ministry of Justice, set off a firestorm of controversy recently when he said on TV that women who come into regular contact with men who aren't related to them ought to give them their breast milk so they will be considered relatives. “The man should take the milk, but not directly from the breast of the woman,” Al Obeikan said, according to Gulf News. “He should drink it and then becomes a relative of the family, a fact that allows him to come in contact with the women without breaking Islam's rules about mixing.” This is so screwed up I'm speechless. added by: 2helenahandbasket

Usher, Chris Brown Tease Co-Headlining Tour Online

‘What would you guys say if me and Usher went on tour?’ Brown tweeted after producer leaked tour in YouTube video. By James Dinh Chris Brown and Usher Photo: Robert Keshishian/ Newscom With their top-notch dance moves and tunes that make the ladies swoon, an Usher and Chris Brown co-headlining tour sounds like an idea made in R&B heaven. And according to producer Bryan-Michael Cox, it may just happen. This news comes just weeks after Breezy’s surprise onstage appearance during Usher’s set at Reggae SumFest. Speculation began when Cox revealed during Jermaine Dupri’s “Living the Life” YouTube show that the singers are planning to tour together. “Usher and the boy Chris Brown are going on tour, y’all know that, right?” Cox said. Dupri immediately replied, “They might not know that.” But after the cat was let out of the bag, Cox admitted, “I might’ve just gave y’all some exclusive sh–.” Once word spread that that Usher and Breezy might be planning a co-headlining tour, the trio took to Twitter to respond to the hype. Responding to a fellow songwriter, Cox seemed to backpedal his revelation when he tweeted , “@rchonore86 I was drunk. Lol. Talking crazy. I don’t know for a fact that THAT tour is happening. But it would be dope tho. Lol.” But the R&B heartthrobs kept the idea alive as they asked fans what they think of the possibility of an Usher/Brown tour. “What would you guys say if me and Usher went on tour?” Brown tweeted . An hour later, Usher’s Twitter message read, “If you could see Usher perform live with anyone – who would it be?” Reps for Usher and Brown could not be reached for comment at press time. Earlier this year, Brown’s U.K. tour plans were postponed because the singer was denied a work visa on the grounds that he is guilty of a serious criminal offense. What do you think of the possibility of Usher and Chris Brown touring together? Let us know in the comments below! ‘Glee’ Creator Ryan Murphy And Javier Bardem Talk Guest Spot

‘He wants to be a Spanish rock star, and I’m like, ‘What about a janitor?’ ‘ Murphy tells MTV News. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Javier Bardem Photo: James Devaney/ WireImage On Tuesday night at the “Eat Pray Love” red carpet , the focus was on all things culinary, spiritual and passionate — for the most part. But with director Ryan Murphy also happening to be the creator of a certain hit musical TV show, talk often turned positively “Glee”-riffic. Murphy dished to us about Britney Spears’ upcoming guest spot on the series and also spilled a couple clues about Javier Bardem’s future appearance on the show. “He wants to be a Spanish rock star, and I’m like, ‘What about a janitor?’ ” laughed Murphy, who also said he wants Bardem to don that less-than-flattering bowl cut he sported in the Oscar-winning drama “No Country for Old Men.” Bardem, for his part, got a chance to weigh in on that hairstyle choice Tuesday, since he stars alongside Julia Roberts in “Eat Pray Love” and also walked the carpet. Asked about the possibility of once again rocking his “No Country” locks, Bardem set the record straight. “That haircut is passed,” he said. That is pretty much the conclusion Murphy came to, though he continues to hold out hope for Bardem to undergo a coiffure epiphany. “I might want him to,” the Gleek-in-chief said. “I don’t think he will.” They won’t shoot that scene until the winter, so we suppose there’s ample time for creative negotiation. Bardem, though, knows exactly what he wants to do. “I said to him I will do a rock and roll star that sings so bad that they shut down the whole school,” he said. Mel Gibson Dumped … By Leonardo DiCaprio

In perhaps the first sign that Mel Gibson’s career is starting to disintegrate, Leonardo DiCaprio is apparently dissociating himself from Gibson, Reel Movie News says. DiCaprio is dropping out of a partnership with Gibson to develop a period epic about Vikings. We highly doubt that timing of Leo ditching Mel is a coincidence, either. The news comes on the heels of the Mel Gibson tapes – his widely publicized racist, sexist, rage-filled conversations and messages with now-ex Oksana Grigorieva . “Not a chance,” a source close to the Inception star responded when asked about the possibility of DiCaprio collaborating with Mel Gibson on the Viking pic. Don’t expect these two to link up professionally anytime soon . Without elaborating, the source added that “Leo has earned the right to pick and choose who he works with these days and Mel Gibson is not one of them.” Gibson was set to produce the film along with Graham King, and Oscar winning screenwriter William Monahan ( The Departed ) was going to pen the script. But now that shocking, disturbing details of Mel’s personal life have become public thanks to Oksana, it’s hard to see his reputation not being tarnished. Whether the tranquilizers make him nuts or not, he needs help. This is not good news for Gibson, whose last starring role (after an eight-year hiatus) in Edge of Darkness failed to win over audiences at the box office. Is this the beginning of the end for Mel’s career?

Large China oil spill threatens sea life, water

China's largest reported oil spill emptied beaches along the Yellow Sea as its size doubled Wednesday, while cleanup efforts included straw mats and frazzled workers with little more than rubber gloves. An official warned the spill posed a “severe threat” to sea life and water quality as China's latest environmental crisis spread off the shores of Dalian, once named China's most livable city. One cleanup worker has drowned, his body coated in crude. “I've been to a few bays today and discovered they were almost entirely covered with dark oil,” said Zhong Yu with environmental group Greenpeace China, who spent the day on a boat inspecting the spill. “The oil is half-solid and half liquid and is as sticky as asphalt,” she told The Associated Press by telephone. The oil had spread over 165 square miles (430 square kilometers) of water five days since a pipeline at the busy northeastern port exploded, hurting oil shipments from part of China's strategic oil reserves to the rest of the country. Shipments remained reduced Wednesday. State media has said no more oil is leaking into the sea, but the total amount of oil spilled is not yet clear. Greenpeace China released photos Wednesday of inky beaches and of straw mats about 2 square meters (21 square feet) in size scattered on the sea, meant to absorb the oil. Fishing in the waters around Dalian has been banned through the end of August, the state-run Xinhua News Agency reported. “The oil spill will pose a severe threat to marine animals, and water quality, and the sea birds,” Huang Yong, deputy bureau chief for the city's Maritime Safety Administration, told Dragon TV. At least one person died during cleanup efforts. A 25-year-old firefighter, Zhang Liang, drowned Tuesday when a wave threw him from a vessel, Xinhua reported. Officials, oil company workers and volunteers were turning out by the hundreds to clean blackened beaches. “We don't have proper oil cleanup materials, so our workers are wearing rubber gloves and using chopsticks,” an official with the Jinshitan Golden Beach Administration Committee told the Beijing Youth Daily newspaper, in apparent exasperation. “This kind of inefficiency means the oil will keep coming to shore. … This stretch of oil is really difficult to clean up in the short term.” But 40 oil-skimming boats and about 800 fishing boats were also deployed to clean up the spill, and Xinhua said more than 15 kilometers (9 miles) of oil barriers had been set up to keep the slick from spreading. China Central Television earlier reported an estimate of 1,500 tons of oil has spilled. That would amount roughly to 400,000 gallons (1,500,000 liters) — as compared with 94 million to 184 million gallons in the BP oil spill off the U.S. coast. China's State Oceanic Administration released the latest size of the contaminated area in a statement Tuesday. The cause of the explosion that started the spill was still not clear. The pipeline is owned by China National Petroleum Corp., Asia's biggest oil and gas producer by volume. Friday's images of 100-foot-high (30-meter-high) flames at China's second largest port for crude oil imports drew the immediate attention of President Hu Jintao and other top leaders. Now the challenge is cleaning up the greasy plume. “Our priority is to collect the spilled oil within five days to reduce the possibility of contaminating international waters,” Dalian's vice mayor, Dai Yulin, told Xinhua on Tuesday. But an official with the State Oceanic Administration has warned the spill will be difficult to clean up even in twice that amount of time. Some locals said the area's economy was already hurting. “Let's wait and see how well they deal with the oil until Sept. 1, if the oil can't be cleaned up by then, the seafood products will all be ruined,” an unnamed fisherman told Dragon TV. “No one will buy them in the market because of the smell of the oil.” added by: JanforGore
