Katy Perry Releases ‘Part Of Me’ Movie Poster

‘From a hairbrush to a headliner,’ singer tweets of image, which shows her singing into a hairbrush in her bedroom. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry in her ‘Part of Me’ concert poster Photo: Katy Perry/Twitter/Capitol Records Katy Perry ‘s “Part of Me” movie poster is super-colorful and a little kitschy. After teasing fans with pieces of the poster , she officially debuted the image on her Twitter. “So happy to share with you the official #KP3D movie poster … from a hairbrush to a headliner,” she tweeted . “Get ready, JULY 5TH!” So happy to share with you the official #KP3D movie poster…from a hairbrush to a headliner…get ready, JULY 5TH! twitter.com/katyperry/stat… — Katy Perry (@katyperry) May 17, 2012 That “love who you are” message is represented on the poster itself, which features Perry in her PJs singing into a hairbrush in her bedroom. In the mirror next to her, she’s dolled up in a sparkling red costume and bright blue hair, singing into a candy-cane microphone. “Be yourself and you can be anything,” the poster reads. The big reveal came with a bit of a contest. The first 20 people who were able to put the full poster together out of the puzzle pieces she’d released and tweet a photo to @KatyPerry using #KP3D will be picked to have a chance to see their Twitter handles featured in the closing credits of the colorful 3-D flick. The July 5 release was directed by Magical Elves’ Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz, who also served as producers on Justin Bieber’s successful “Never Say Never” concert movie. In a trailer released in early April , fans got a taste of what they would see and hear in the flick, including Perry’s candid confessions about her religious childhood and her split from Russell Brand. MTV News spoke to Perry in March about the film, and she explained just what fans will see in it. “It’s closing the chapter on [my album] Teenage Dream, but it’s giving you such an inside perspective,” Perry said. “This film, you’re going to see it from my best friend/buddy perspective, you’re going to see exactly what I mean and feel and think about everything.” The movie was filmed during her California Dreams trek. “That tour was so life-changing to me. I learned so much, I went through so much along the way,” Perry said. “I’m not necessarily trying to prove anything to anyone, but not only will people really hands-down know me after they see this film, but you’ll see me as the Dorothy wearing the red ruby slipper and at the end of it all I’m the [Wizard of] Oz as well.” Related Videos MTV First: Katy Perry’s ‘Part Of Me’ Related Artists Katy Perry

How The Possession Poster Raises the Bar For the Horror Genre

It’s really easy to be cynical about horror movie posters. Most of them are garish, Photoshop nightmares unworthy of a second look. But we really owe it to ourselves to bask in the sublime surrealism of the one-sheet for The Possession . A poster like this one, for a low-budget horror film with a decent pedigree (Sam Raimi is among the producers) that will play as late-summer counterprogramming in multiplexes around the country, comes around, oh, never. I’ll grant you that it is of questionable construction. It’s flat and nearly monochromatic, the Photoshop is sloppy in spots (especially where the wrist meets the mouth), and it feels like a detail from the poster for another Raimi film, Drag Me to Hell : Still, there’s beauty in the simplicity. Take away the title, taglines, and credit block and you instantly know this is a person-possessed movie. No weird upside-down people , no impossible-for-even-the-most-elastic-yogi posing , no one stuck to the ceiling — just a person being mauled from the inside out by a demon clawing its way out of that person’s maw. Any other image meant to illustrate “possessed” looks like unicorns and rainbows in comparison. And why not? Reality is always stranger — and scarier — than fiction, and, my God, this really happened! Somewhere, out in the world, someone is telling the story about that time a girl they knew vomited up a gnarled ghoul hand that then ripped her face off. That’s the takeaway, anyhow, when “Based on a True Story” is placed above the poster’s horrific, inspired image. It’s an audacious juxtaposition. For nearly a decade, horror movies brandishing their ripped-from-reality bonafides have hewed to relatively realistic depictions of their content. The Exorcism of Emily Rose , for example, is atmospheric and unsettling in its depiction of a girl lost in foggy desolation. Similarly, the remake of The Amityville Horror exists in a scuzzy, off-balance suburbia, but it’s one that feels relatively in-step with our world. Even the ridiculous, porny poster for The Devil Inside feels grounded in some perversion of reality. Not so for The Possession . It’s a true story spewed forth from the interior worlds of Lovecraft and Dalí. Our first instinct is to laugh at the absurdity of selling a movie using this image as “based on a true story.” But disbelief quickly gives way to something like awe. On one hand it’s a complete inversion of how to market a real-person-possessed movie. Instead of people contorted by unseen supernatural forces — that is, something we can go in believing actually happened — we’re getting a person brutally face-hugged by a tangible hellspawn, a practical and realistic impossibility that subverts the scare power of these sorts of movies. It’s not frightening, after all, if we know it can’t really happen. (Shock cuts only go so far.) On the other hand, it’s a deft commentary on these kinds of films. We all know they’re ridiculous. But you’d never know it to look at their posters. From the images to the copy, they’re humorless voids of self-righteousness, like an ad for a sanctimonious documentary or a foreign art-house film. Except these are ads for movies about a kid puking, what, smoke? A scarf? Oil? Liquid gold? Or being suspended upside down, against one’s control . And on and on. The Possession one-sheet, in the grand Raimi tradition, is self-aware and calls attention to how ridiculous it all is while simultaneously giving us a good, solid modern horror movie image. I’d be surprised if the image on this poster is ever brought to life in The Possession (but here’s hoping!), and time will tell how grossly it misrepresents the tone and content of the film. But all that seems beside the point when you have a poster of such sly wit and artistry. PREVIOUSLY IN ONE-SHEET WONDER The Simple, Fan-Driven Pleasures of Moonrise Kingdom ‘s First Poster Dante A. Kevin Spacey’s Chinese Buddy-Superhero Movie Inseparable Looks… Interesting

It’s been nearly two and a half years since word first came of Kevin Spacey heading off to China, where the Oscar winner and noted cell-phone critic would become the first major star to lead a fully Chinese-funded production. That production, Inseparable , finally has a teaser on the Web, and it’s… interesting . The given tagline — “A young man with problems at home and work befriends his odd neighbor” — is vague enough, but nothing quite prepares you for the last shot… …unless you happen to have previously had a look at the new posters. Thoughts, anyone? Ha! Trick question — your head exploded. Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .

Casey Anthony Video Diary: Possibly Hacked, Definitely Her

Plenty of questions surround the strange Casey Anthony video diary, which mysteriously surfaced online a day ago, but two things are crystal clear: 1. Everyone’s talking about it, and 2. The whole thing is bizarre. No one seems to know why Anthony would record the thing, but even more strange is the lack of information regarding its release and Casey’s role in that. It almost magically appeared in the Facebook ether without explanation, even by the person who posted it. Even that anonymous person pleads ignorance. Casey Anthony Video Diary The video is taken in mirror image, thus making it harder to pinpoint her location, and the audio cuts in and out throughout, which may indicate editing. Some think it was released by Casey Anthony , unintentionally or intentionally, only to be yanked offline quickly, but not before one person discovered it. Others, chiefly Anthony’s attorney Cheney Mason, feel her computer was broken into by a sophisticated hacker. Mason told the Today Show as much: “If we find out who did it and how they did it, then they are going to be, I hope, answering to state and federal law enforcement agencies,” he said. Meanwhile, the original YouTube poster , who claims he didn’t steal it, spoke to E! News about how he got his hands on it … and is extremely vague. “I checked Facebook one day and I had a message saying, ‘I have some things that you might be interested in and I trust you with it,'” the poster said. He would not reveal his name for obvious reasons. Adding that he was sent the video by an unnamed acquaintance, he says, “They gave me the video because they trusted me with the video and the pictures.” “They knew I would not try and make money off it. And if it did leak onto the Internet, they would be authentic and that they were not fake Caseys.” The poster said before releasing it on YouTube, he blocked out names of specific people Casey mentioned before posting it onto his channel as “unlisted.” Asked why he released the clip at all, the poster said he simply wanted “Casey Anthony supporters to see that the secretive 25-year-old “is happy.” Casey Anthony has supporters? And despite the viral spread of the footage that he made possible, the poster insisted that Casey never intended the video for public consumption. “Casey did not want people to see these videos. Cheney Mason, her lawyer, says that Casey is doing the video diaries as a form of therapy.” “She has nobody. She has her dog and her webcam.” And yes, that was video diaries, plural. The poster confirmed he was in possession of a second video of Casey but does not plan on releasing it. The first video was up for four minutes before, the guy says, the Facebook group The People Against ‘We Support Casey Anthony’ found and reposted it. That is the alleged source of the widespread leak. “I did not mean for this to happen. I wish it would go away,” the poster said. “It snowballed out of control. I feel sorry for her because the media is ripping her and the video apart. They need to let the girl live. I respect the constitution and she was found not guilty.” The poster clarified that he does not know and has never met or been in contact with Casey Anthony, but claimed to know that Anthony has since altered her physical appearance from the blond bob and glasses look she had in the video. Well, that settles that. Raise your hand if this clears it up for you. Hello? Anyone?
