‘Harry Potter’ Star Tom Felton Says Farewell Scene Is All About ‘Presence And Look’

‘I had a monologue prepared, but time was short,’ actor joked about the ‘Potter’ epilogue. By Kara Warner Tom Felton Photo: MTV News While the recent trailers and TV spots for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” have proven to be sufficient teasers for Potterheads — showcasing a darker, more serious film and more harrowing action sequences — fans can’t seem to get enough news about the series’ much-discussed/hyped final scene: the epilogue. When MTV News caught up with celebrated villain and MTV Movie Award winner Tom Felton , we asked him if in his big final scene, which is set 19 years in the “Potter” future, Draco Malfoy closes the series with any sweeping dialogue. “I had a monologue prepared, but time was short,” he joked. “No, it was all in the presence and the look.” So Draco Malfoy’s farewell is all in his menacing presence? “This is the idea, that’s what they told me,” he said. “Hopefully that reads. It was a lot of fun.” Adding to the epilogue fun is the fact that Felton’s real-life girlfriend, “Potter” stunt assistant Jade Olivia, plays his wife in that final shot. “She was at first reluctant, but I pulled her arm and twisted it,” Felton told MTV at last month’s Movie Awards of convincing Olivia to step in and play Astoria Malfoy. “She was filming with me for three days at King’s Cross [railway station in the U.K.]. We were very excited.” “It gave me a chance to see what she’s going to look like in 19 years,” Felton added. “And if that’s what she looks like, I’m doing pretty well for myself,” he laughed. “But I look terrible ,” he said of his own aged visage. “The years have not been kind to me in the slightest. But what can I do? I’ve gotta just roll with it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . ‘Harry Potter’ Star Warwick Davis Recalls Emotional Final Day On Set

‘I was actually really quite choked up about it,’ Davis tells MTV News of finishing ‘Deathly Hallows.’ By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Warwick Davis Photo: MTV News The recently released trailer for “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” offered fans a great taste of things to come (the first half of the film arrives in theaters this November). But for the cast and crew members involved with the long-running franchise, the magic is already at an end, as shooting on the final two-part installment concluded earlier this month. “I shot my last day on ‘Harry Potter’ last Saturday. It was a very sad, very emotional day,” actor Warwick Davis told MTV News recently at the grand opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park . “I never really get upset finishing a film. I’m normally glad that it’s over, that I won’t have to wear the makeup anymore — but I was actually really quite choked up about it. Ten years’ worth of work finished, and on Sunday, it was worse. I woke up Sunday morning thinking, ‘No more Harry Potter. That’s it.’ ” Davis, who plays Hogwarts’ residential Charms expert Professor Flitwick, recalled the emotional final day of shooting. “I was filming with the second unit, and then I went over to the first unit where they were doing the last shot with Dan [Radcliffe], Rupert [Grint] and Emma [Watson]. The first assistant director didn’t shout, ‘It’s a wrap.’ He didn’t say that. He said, ‘Come over to the screens over here. I have a lot of video to show you.’ He set up the video: a piece of film that they’d shot every day with what’s called the golden boards. It would be a special guest that day or an actor who was finishing up the film, or whatever. If something unusual was happening, they’d be the person holding the golden board. Twenty minutes’ worth to summarize the last year and a half that we’d been working on the movie. It was really very sad.” Although Davis couldn’t divulge the final scene that was shot for “Deathly Hallows,” he confirmed that the last shot involved Radcliffe, Grint and Watson. “It was them, as it should be,” he said. “The three of them. I was lucky to be there for the last day. I think I was the only other castmember in on it.” Even though his work filming “Harry Potter” is complete, Davis’ journey through Hogwarts continues on. “It’s lovely, because we’re all here,” he said, referring to the newly opened Wizarding World of Harry Potter. “It’s like a big school trip. We’re all on holiday, so this is like a new beginning. And we still have the films to see as well.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com . Big Boi Gets ‘Live And Down To Earth’ In ‘Follow Us’ Video

‘It’s like a college frat party down in Savannah,’ MC says of clip for second Sir Luscious Left Foot single. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Kelly Marino Big Boi Photo: MTV News Next week, Big Boi is set to release the video for “Follow Us,” featuring Vonnegutt, the Atlanta MC told MTV News on the red carpet of the 2010 BET Awards. He’s already shot the clip, which is scheduled to premiere the visuals in time for the release of his album, Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, next Tuesday (July 6). “Left foot, right foot, stepping over biters,” he raps over the track’s syncopated drums. “The game seems haunted/ ‘Cause there’s so many ghost writers.” “It’s just live and down to earth,” Big Boi said of the “Follow Us” video. “It’s like a college frat party down in Savannah, Georgia. Just riding through the city, having fun.” The number follows Big Boi’s current single, the Scott Storch-produced “Shutterbugg.” Sir Luscious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty is the OutKast rapper’s first proper solo offering; he and rhyme partner Andre 3000 released solo projects bundled into an group album with Speakerboxx/ The Love Below. Now, Big Boi isn’t entirely on his own: He’s got the help of T.I., B.o.B and Jamie Foxx on the LP. Andre 3000 was slated to have a prominent role on the project, particularly on the songs “Royal Flush” and “Lookin’ for Ya,” but OutKast’s label, Jive, blocked Dre from appearing on the Def Jam release. “Jive Records is trying to block 3 Stacks from being on the album. Boi Stop!!!!” Big Boi tweeted earlier this month. Big Boi spoke to MTV News in April about “Lookin’ for Ya,” which was produced by Boi-1da. “It’s me and Stacks, two verses apiece, back-to-back lyrical manslaughter,” Big Boi said of the collaboration. “Who’s better than the ‘Kast? Nobody.” Are you looking forward to more of Big Boi’s solo work? Would you rather OutKast got to work on new music together? Sound off in the comments. Related Artists Big Boi

‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows’ Trailer: Six Key Moments

We break down the best parts of the new sneak peek. By Terri Schwartz Bonnie Wright and Daniel Radcliffe in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” Photo: Warner Bros. The first full-length “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” trailer comes at the perfect time to remind everyone why they loved the story about the boy with a lightning-bolt scar to begin with — and to ask everyone else who didn’t what they were possibly thinking. While previous trailers for “Harry Potter” movies — even the especially dark “Half-Blood Prince” — mixed humor with the action and magic, this sneak peek shows that the “Deathly Hallows” films, like the book, will take themselves very seriously. There’s a lot packed into the two-minute teaser, as well as some hints as to when the split between the two films will lie, so we’re going to break down some of the best parts. The Attack at the Ministry There are only two quick shots of the Ministry battle, but they promise greatness from that scene. At 1:24, there is a shot of Ron (Rupert Grint) running away terrified, and then at 1:46, there is another shot of the Ministry employee who is pursuing him. Godric’s Hollow Another section of “Part 1” that made it to the trailer is Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Hermione’s (Emma Watson) journey to the home of Harry’s parents, Godric’s Hollow. Their entrance can be seen at the one-minute mark, and even though it looks like only Hermione is walking, that is because Harry is under the invisibility cloak. There is a lot more to the location than meets the eye, though, and you can see Harry being attacked by Voldemort’s snake Nagini inside Bathilda Bagshot’s home at 1:47. Ron Destroying the Slytherin Necklace Horcrux In the scene that has long been assumed will close out “Part 1,” Ron reunites with Harry in the woods and helps him destroy one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes. At 1:17, Ron can be seen looking terrified of the images the Horcrux is showing them (some pretty scandalous scenes between Harry and Hermione), and then at 1:48, Harry can be seen encouraging Ron to “kill it!” The Gringott’s Break-In Switching to moments that will (presumably) occur in “Part 2,” it might seem a bit confusing to see Harry riding alongside his enemy Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) with a goblin named Griphook (Warwick Davis) at :54, but that’s actually because Hermione is impersonating Bellatrix, a scene Carter said she enjoyed playing . The shot of a half-blind dragon at 1:16 also comes from the Gringott’s scene, and the dragon flying away from the wizarding bank at 1:39 is the trio’s escape route to safety. Harry’s First Confrontation With Voldemort It was an interesting move to open up the trailer with one of the final scenes in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” but the shots of Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) standing with his Death Eaters in the woods and Harry approaching them actually come toward the end of the story. “Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, come to die!” Voldemort announces dramatically in the trailer, before seemingly casting the killing curse — Avada Kedavra — on Harry. The Final Battle A good portion of the action scenes that are shown in the trailer are taken from the final battle sequence that will take place at the end of “Part 2.” USA Today reported that the battle was expanded for the film, which means those shots of people running at each other in the woods are probably from the creative mind of director David Yates. But the wand confrontation between Harry and Voldemort at 1:59 is right out of the book, and Voldemort’s final line of the trailer — “Only I can live forever” — is a daunting way of teasing the final installments of the “Harry Potter” franchise. ‘Harry Potter’ Stars Impressed By Theme Park’s ‘Total Immersion’ Experience

‘It’s not even odd,’ Daniel Radcliffe says of seeing the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. By Terri Schwartz The cast of “Harry Potter” at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening Wednesday Photo: Gustavo Caballero/ Getty Images ORLANDO, Florida — Magic was seemingly everywhere on Wednesday night, at Universal Orlando’s grand opening celebration for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter . The theme park doesn’t officially open to the public until June 18, but Universal brought in the stars of the film and conductor/composer John Williams to kick things off with a bang. Though many of the stars of the “Harry Potter” films have come to see the park over the past several months, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, James and Oliver Phelps, Bonnie Wright, Matthew Lewis and Warwick Davis were given a special tour of Wizarding World’s many attractions on Wednesday so they would be primed to speak about them. “It’s not even odd,” Radcliffe said about seeing the world he spent the past decade working on in film represented as a real place in hot and humid Orlando. “It’s absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t be more impressed.” There was some debate amongst them as to which of the three rides in Wizarding World was the best. Radcliffe and Grint said the twin roller coasters in Dragon Challenge were their favorite, while Lewis, Wright and the Phelps loved Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey . And there was an even divide over which was better: regular or frozen Butterbeer . The stars seemed most impressed by the amount of detail making Hogwarts and Hogsmeade come to life, creating an experience they couldn’t even have on the movie set. “It’s just total immersion into the world,” Lewis said. “In 100 years, it’s still going to be here. It’s a little weird for me.” “It’s kind of the beginning and ending. It’s kind of surreal,” Wright said of the park’s opening coinciding with the end of filming of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” earlier this week. “All the little memories we have, now other people can have them as well.” The actors said they loved the rides, which include two roller coasters (Flight of the Hippogriffs and Dragon Challenge) and a visual experience (Forbidden Journey). It was the first roller-coaster ride for Davis. Grint shared that his coaster-riding technique was to hold on for dear life, while Felton said that he keeps his hands in the air, screaming for his life. Radcliffe had a very specific procedure: Make sure the harness is extra tight; try to keep his eyes open for as long as possible, and make the longest, most prolonged scream possible. When he gets off, his experience isn’t complete unless all his hair is swept to one side. Though she did not speak to the press and was kept well hidden at the event, “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling did make an appearance at the grand opening. Williams conducted the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in a special presentation of the various themes he had written for the “Harry Potter” film series. In the end, the stars seemed to think Universal had left no magical stone unturned in the creation of the Wizarding World. All of them, that is, except Warwick Davis. When asked what he thinks Universal should add to the park, he responded, “Something involving Professor Flitwick. Or Griphook the goblin, perhaps.” Are you planning to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Tell us what you’re excited to see in the comments. ‘Harry Potter’ Filming Wraps — For The Last Time

‘Farewell Harry & Hogwarts, it’s been magic!’ co-star Warwick Davis tweets after shooting final ‘Deathly Hallows’ scene. By Terri Schwartz Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I” Photo: Warner Bros. It’s the end of an era. Warwick Davis said it best when he tweeted on Saturday from the set of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” once director David Yates had wrapped shooting on the “Potter” franchise — for the last time — after 10 years. “The end of an Era — today is officially the last day of principal photography on ‘Harry Potter’ — ever,” wrote Warwick, who is also known for his work in “Star Wars” and “Willow.” “I feel honoured to be here as the director shouts cut for the very last time. Farewell Harry & Hogwarts, it’s been magic! X … and goodbye Griphook!” Davis is known to “Potter” fans as Hogwarts Professor Flitwick, but in “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” director Chris Columbus also cast the actor as a “goblin bank teller” at the wizard bank, Gringotts. Davis’ teller comes to the aid of Harry Potter and his half-giant guardian Hagrid in the 2001 film. And that goblin, Griphook, has a larger, more pivotal role in “Deathly Hallows: Part 1.” It had long been announced that the final scene to be filmed at the end of “Deathly Hallows,” would be a flash-forward epilogue, but it appears some scenes needed to be re-shot from either the ( spoilers ahead ) rescue of Griphook from Malfoy Manor or the break-in at Gringotts, both major scenes featuring Griphook in “Deathly Hallows: Part 1.” To celebrate the end of filming, Rupert Grint showed up to set in his “Mr. Whippy” old school ice cream truck and served up scoops to the cast and crew. “It brought a smile to everyone’s face on what was a very emotional day,” Davis wrote on Twitter.
