Miley Cyrus’ MTV Live-Stream Show: The Good Girl Grows Up

During six-song set in L.A., singer speaks her mind and performs ‘Who Owns My Heart’ for the first time. By James Montgomery Miley Cyrus performs at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on Monday Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Her new album is available now. She has a brash new attitude to go along with it. And both of those things were on display Monday night (June 21), as Miley Cyrus took to the House of Blues in Los Angeles for a live-streaming concert called, appropriately enough, “Miley Cyrus: Live in L.A.” Her six-song set — streamed on MTV.com — showcased songs from her just-released Can’t Be Tamed and gave the 17-year-old Cyrus a chance to get a bit rebellious, speaking her mind on a host of topics (including abusive relationships and gay rights), prowling the stage with purpose and even working a profanity or two into the mix. She kicked things off with the title track from Tamed, a strutting, steamy thing that saw her spitting lyrics, tossing her hair, popping her hips and even re-enacting the faux kiss she shared with a female dancer earlier this month on “Britain’s Got Talent” (though, perhaps in the spirit of equal opportunity, she also shared a fake smooch with a male dancer). But it wasn’t all sass. At song’s end, Cyrus showed off her pipes a bit too, extending a “knoooooow” to glorious lengths. That was followed by another Tamed track, “Who Owns My Heart” (which Cyrus introduced by telling the rapt audience that it was the first time she’d ever performed the track live), which galloped along on a shuffling beat and was given added punch thanks to the addition of a live band. There was some heavy panting from Cyrus and a big-time chorus — “Who owns my heart/ Is it love, or is it art?” — that had the crowd shouting along. Loudly. She changed things up a bit with “Liberty Walk,” a song she co-wrote and dedicated to “women who are stuck in abusive relationships … to empower them.” The song — which features a stomping beat and even a bit of rapping from MC — also gave her the chance to slip a couple of “sh–s” by the censors too … much to the delight of the audience. Up next was her cover of Poison’s “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” which featured some genuinely windswept guitar work, but not Poison main man Bret Michaels (the two performed the tune together last week on “Good Morning America” ) though she did dedicate the song to him and urged the audience to “pray” for his continued health (she also said the song was her mom’s favorite). “Rose” was followed by the anthemic “Robot,” which saw the reappearance of her backup dancers, and then the MTV.com live stream ended with “Heart Beats for Love,” a power-packed ballad that Cyrus introduced by saying that she wrote it “mostly for my gay fans,” adding that she abhorred the fact that, “We have people on this earth who hate someone for loving another.” She then launched herself into the song, eyes closed, making a pair of peace signs with her hands, and by the time the tune had reached its crescendo, everyone in the audience was doing the same, showing (much like everything else on this night) not just the power and confidence of Cyrus’ new songs, but the sway she holds over her fans too. Sway she’s apparently decided to use for good. And, really, that speaks a lot louder than some fake girl-on-girl action any day of the week. What did you think of Miley’s six-song set? Megan Fox Wants To Play Native American Lesbian Superhero Rainmaker

‘Jonah Hex’ star would love to star in adaptation of ‘Gen 13’ comic book series. By Jocelyn Vena Megan Fox Photo: Jean Baptiste Lacroix/ Getty Images Though Megan Fox’s turn as a gun-toting prostitute in the adaptation of comic book “Jonah Hex” failed to make an impression at the box office, the actress said she would like to have another go at the comic book genre. “I don’t want people to protest this, but I would like to be [Sarah] Rainmaker in ‘Gen 13’ if they ever made that into a movie,” she told Fox News . “Gen 13” is about a group of teens who escape from a government training facility after they realize they’re being kept there to test their superhuman powers. Rainmaker is an Apache superhero who has the power to manipulate the weather using her thoughts. She also is skilled in all things combat. Despite that aptitude, she is a pacifist, unless she has to fight off evil villains. “I grew up reading ‘Gen 13,’ ” Fox told MTV News last year, but more recently, she clarified that she’s not an expert in the genre. “I have some knowledge, but I’m not a hard-core nerd. Unfortunately, I would like to be, but I just don’t have the knowledge.” But speaking to Fox News, she was confident in her ability to play Rainmaker. “She’s a Native American, and I have a little bit of that blood in me,” Fox said of the role. “It would be a bit of a stretch — but if Jake Gyllenhaal can be the Prince of Persia, I think that I can do that.” As for the combat part, she luckily had to learn those skills for “Jonah Hex.” “The best part was the guns, because I’ve never done that before so that was a completely new challenge, and there was really not a ‘worst part,’ ” Fox explained. “If I had to pick, I guess I would say the corset, but I personally enjoyed that, and it’s just hard to kick ass when you’re laced up in something like that.” Would you like to see Megan Fox in the role of Rainmaker? Leonardo DiCaprio To Star In J. Edgar Hoover Biopic

The movie, penned by ‘Milk’ screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, will be directed by Clint Eastwood. By Adam Rosenberg Leonardo DiCaprio Photo: Michael Buckner/ Getty Images Leonardo DiCaprio is no stranger to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In “Catch Me If You Can” he was constantly one step ahead of the FBI as legendary scam artist Frank Abagnale Jr. He also earned the domestic intelligence agency’s attention as industrialist Howard Hughes in “The Aviator.” Now DiCaprio is set to lead the FBI, playing its very first director, J. Edgar Hoover. Deadline Hollywood reports that the “Shutter Island” star will take on the challenging task of bringing the controversial Hoover’s life to the big screen in a biopic to be directed by Clint Eastwood, who is also producing with Brian Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment. The script comes from Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning screenwriter of “Milk.” Deadline further reports that the film is untitled, though IMDb identifies it simply as “Hoover.” A great deal of controversy surrounds the life of the FBI’s first director. Hoover served in a leadership role over the FBI and its precursor organizations for a total of 48 years. Although he is credited as being responsible for instituting many of the bureau’s grand-scale crime-fighting techniques, he has also been accused of misusing his power for political purposes and employing illegal methods in evidence-gathering. Following Hoover’s reign, the FBI instituted a 10-year maximum term for all directors. As for Hoover’s personal life, it is fraught with rumors that he was a closeted homosexual and cross-dresser. Many of these allegations come from untrustworthy sources and have been refuted, but it remains to be seen how Black chose to handle that aspect of the FBI director’s life in his script. DiCaprio teamed with filmmaker Martin Scorsese earlier in the year — their fourth collaboration — for an adaptation of the Dennis Lehane novel “Shutter Island.” The actor also has a major summer blockbuster coming next month, sci-fi action/thriller “Inception,” from “The Dark Knight” director Christopher Nolan. Eastwood has shifted in his later years from grizzled cowboy actor to respected filmmaker. He picked up Oscar nominations for “Mystic River” and “Letters From Iwo Jima,” and he took home Best Director and Best Picture awards in 2005 for “Million Dollar Baby,” a film for which he also received a Best Actor nom. Eastwood is set to release his latest directing effort, “Hereafter,” later this year. The Peter Morgan-penned supernatural thriller stars Matt Damon and Bryce Dallas Howard. “Hoover” is tentatively scheduled for a 2012 release. Lindsay Lohan Actually Tests Negative For Alcohol

It looks like Lindsay Lohan is in the clear with the L.A. County Probation Department … because her urine was also clear. Of alcohol or other substances. Lohan didn’t have alcohol in her system when her SCRAM ankle bracelet went off earlier in June at an MTV Awards afterparty, according to her attorney. Shawn Chapman Holley says a urine test taken after the alert showed a negative result for alcohol, and that Lindsay doesn’t know what triggered it. An L.A. district attorney spokeswoman wasn’t aware of the negative test result, which they previously said was considered “an alcohol-related violation.” However, in all likelihood, legitimate test results will be good enough for them and the Probation Department will not pursue the matter beyond that. Lindsay Lohan tends to important business and cruises around with her new, male assistant. We give this guy 10 days. [Photo: PacificCoastNewsOnline.com] It’s unclear what could have triggered the ankle monitor if she was in fact clean, and we haven’t yet heard any of the legendary Lindsay Lohan excuses . But false positives do happen, and Lindsay is in compliance with her probation, as far as department officials are concerned … at least until the next party. Lohan remains free on $200,000 bail , and is subject to weekly random drug testing. She must abstain from alcohol altogether between now and July 6. That’s when she faces probation violation hearing and could get up to six months in jail if a judge determines she hasn’t fully complied with the terms. She did not comply with court-mandated alcohol ed courses before, but given the month she bought herself, may complete them in time. Stay tuned.

Gary Coleman Cremated; Anna Gray Pays Respects

Three weeks after Gary Coleman died, his wish to be cremated was granted, although the fate of his remains – and estate – is still very much up in the air. Entertainment Tonight confirmed the actor’s cremation, and that Coleman’s former girlfriend Anna Gray paid her last respects to the star earlier this week. Anna Gray , named in a 2005 will as the executor and beneficiary to Gary’s estate, left Memorial Mortuary in Murray, Utah, after a private viewing of his body. There will be no funeral service, per his request . If valid, the 2005 will supersedes a 1999 will already entered for probate by the actor’s former manager, Dion Mial, who implied there was foul play involved. R.I.P. Gary Coleman (1968-2010) . Mial is likely insinuating that Gary’s former wife Shannon Price had something to do with it, given the power grab she’s made for his estate since he died. But Anna Gray’s lawyer Randy Kester, who was also Coleman’s attorney during his divorce to Price, said the 2005 will may also override Price’s claims. If valid, it nullifies the handwritten codicil (amendment to a will) that gives all assets to Shannon Price, including a $315,000 home in Santaquin, Utah. While Gray and Price have conflicting wills, both documents agreed that Gary wished to be cremated, so the attorneys agreed to go ahead with that. What happens to his remains, and assets, is another story. More than likely, the battle for Coleman’s estate between Gray and Price is far from over.

UFC 115: Liddell Confident Against Franklin

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight king Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell vowed to come down hard on Rich “The Ace” Franklin in his first fight since his 14-month lay off from mixed martial arts. Liddel said he’s very much in shape, probably the best in his career. This, he said, spells trouble for Franklin, a former UFC champion himself. “I think I’m in the best shape I’ve been for a long time,” said The Iceman in a UFC promotional video. “He better be ready for me, I’m coming hard.” The former UFC champions will exchange blows at the ufc 115 live stream at the General Motors Place in the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on Saturday. Liddell hasn’t fought since his technical knockout (TKO) loss to Mauricio Rua in UFC 97 in April 2009. But his stint in “Dancing with the Stars” has helped keep him in shape before training camp for UFC 115. The Iceman said he will use his “ever reliable” right hand, which he used to topple some of the best fighters in the Octagon such as Randy “The Natural” Couture and Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort. He said it will be a perfect foil for a left hander like Franklin. “I’ll always go back to the big right hand, especially with a south paw, there’s a lot of opportunities to do him with a right hand,” said Liddell, who has 21 wins against 7 losses. Franklin, meanwhile, is coming from a lay-off himself. The Ace, a former UFC middleweight champion, had spent some down time from MMA after undergoing hernia surgery. He claimed he wasn’t worried about what Liddell can do to him. “I’m not concerned about Chuck, I’m not worried about what Chuck has been doing, I gotta worry about what I’m doing,” said Franklin. The Ace said he will probably take advantage of the “weakness” in Liddell’s fighting stance with a lot of low kicks. “Chuck’s fighting stance is really a lot wider, especially on that front leg. We’re emphasizing the times that I can take advantage of that. We’re going to do a lot of inside movement, using jabs and feints to set up inside kicks,“ said Franklin, who has compiled a record of 27 victories, 5 defeats and 1 no contest (NC). UFC commentator Joe Rogan said the Liddell-Franklin fight will be a very interesting match up between a devastating puncher and technical stand-up fighter. “Chuck Liddell is one of the greatest knockout artist in the history of the sport. He has devastating power in his hands, his knees and his kicks… Rich Dranklin is the type of guy that’s gonna formula a really good game plan for a specific opponent. It’s going to be interesting to see how he’s gonna deal with the power of Chuck Liddell,” said Rogan. UFC 115: Liddell Confident Against Franklin is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading
