Killer Herpes: A Mother Warns Parents That Cold Sore Kisses Could Kill Your Infant

Don’t let people kiss your baby ! Facebook Mother Posts Horrifying Photos Of Infant Sick With Herpes Virus A Facebook status posted by a newborns mom has parents around the world clutching their pearls. The mom of the above infant  intended to warn everyone , don’t let people kiss your baby! The infant contracted the life threatening virus after allowing a friend to kiss her in the mouth. Here’s what she had to say: Please share this with every new mum and pregnant woman you know… COLD SORES CAN BE FATAL FOR A BABY. Before 3 months old a baby cannot fight the herpes virus. If a baby contracts this it can cause liver and brain damage and lead to death. I know this sounds like I am scaremongering but if my friend had not told me about this my baby girl could have been very seriously ill. I noticed the signs early and got her to A&E, we have now been in hospital on a drip for 3 days and have got another 2 to go. She was VERY lucky, all her tests came back clear. The moral of the story is DO NOT let anyone kiss your newborns mouth, even if they don’t look like they have a cold sore- 85% of the population carry the virus. And if someone had a cold sore ask them to stay away until it has gone. Everyone who I have spoken to had not heard of this before and so I felt it was important to share Brooke’s story and raise awareness to stop anyone else going through what we have this week. The precious load seems to be doing fine now, the mom has since posted healthy pics of the baby. You can see the preciousness after the jump.

Moses Malone Dies; NBA Legend Was 60

Three-time NBA MVP and Basketball Hall of Famer Moses Malone has passed away at the age of 60. His death was confirmed this morning by a statement from the Philadelphia 76ers, whom Malone led to an NBA championship in 1983. No cause of death was given. Over the course of his 20-year career, Malone played for nine teams and was voted into the NBA All-Star game an astonishing 12 times.  Malone led the league in rebounds for five straight seasons, earning him the nickname “Chairman of the Boards.” He remains the NBA’s career leader in offensive rebounds. “It is difficult to express what his contributions to this organization – both as a friend and player – have meant to us, the city of Philadelphia and his faithful fans,” says the statement issued by the 76ers organization. “Moses holds a special place in our hearts and will forever be remembered as a genuine icon and pillar of the most storied era in the history of Philadelphia 76ers basketball. “His generosity, towering personality and incomparable sense of humor will truly be missed. We will keep his family in our thoughts and prayers and as we are once again reminded of the preciousness of life.” Following the death of Daryl Dawkins last month, Malone is the second NBA legend to pass away in the last three weeks. Tributes from fans, former teammates and sports journalists have already begun to pour in on social media. View Slideshow: Celebrities We Lost in 2015

A “Lil Positivity”: Air Force Vet Finds Three-Year-Old Girl He Rescued After Hurricane Katrina

#FindKatrinaGirl Search Ends In Terrific News! Social media is sometimes a place for shade, messiness and overall f*ck sh*t. Other times, it’s a place where people can reunite with those who changed their lives. An Air Force Pararescue Jumper spent 10 years looking for an adorable three-year-old girl he rescued after Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on New Orleans in 2005. With only a heartwarming picture taken minutes after the rescue, and no information on the little girl or her family, the Air Force vet turned to social media and the hashtag #FindKatrinaGirl to find the Nawlins tyke. And because the Internet is awesome, it worked! Via PEOPLE: Mike Maroney had just returned from a devastating rescue mission in Afghanistan when he was called to New Orleans in September 2005 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Maroney and his team spent seven days descending on rooftop after rooftop, rescuing stranded residents around the city, a grim task that left him wondering how many would actually survive. One of the few bright spots was an adorable, pigtailed three-year-old girl, who greeted the soldier with a big, joyous hug after she and her family landed in his helicopter. That hug “recharged me and gave me a little bit of a silver lining and some hope…that kept me going through rough times,” Maroney, 40, now an Air Force Reservist who teaches people how to become pararescue jumpers in San Antonio, Texas, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “It couldn’t have come at a more important moment.” Maroney, who never got the little girl or her family’s names, has been searching for her ever since – and he’s finally found her, he tells PEOPLE. Her name is LeShay Brown, she’s now 13 years old and she lives with her family in Waveland, Mississippi. The two will reunite in New Orleans later this month. “I can’t wait to meet her to tell her how important she is,” he says. “In my line of work, it doesn’t usually turn out happily,” he says. “This hug, this moment, was like – everybody I’ve ever saved, that was the thank you.” So sweet! LeShay doesn’t remember, but she’s eager to meet the man who saved her life and can’t believe he spent all those years looking for her. Catch the full backstory over at PEOPLE .
