#OccupyPeace Instead Of Occupy Worldly Interests [OPINION]

To many today, Christmas is just a holiday – a stressful one at that.  It’s a time for buying gifts that didn’t need to be bought out of a budget that couldn’t afford them.  It’s a time for squeezing par-ties and extra events into a schedule that was already too full.  It’s a time in which many feel rushed and over-committed when what they really need is to slow down and enjoy the season. Read: Give The Gift Of Love Christmas should be a time of peace, not of fear and unrest.  We fear we may overlook someone on our gift list, or maybe they won’t like what we bought them, or perhaps they will think our gift too cheap.  For some, Christmas brings the added tension of bringing together fractured families.  Instead of peace, they dread the inevitable conflicts.  Yet, Christmas should be a time of peace. Read: What Is The Song “12 Days Of Christmas” About? Christmas should be a time of hope.  Think about this, Christmas is poised at the end of one year and the beginning of the next – at the crossroads of the past and the future.  A previous year, with its blessings and its trials, is gone.  A new year looms ahead, full of uncertainty.  Yet, here is Christmas – the celebration of a birth that took place 2000 years ago – a perennial bright spot on our calendars – because God has give us hope.  Christmas should be a time of hope. Christmas should be a time of love centered around the greatest love story ever told – the story of God who so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.  Christmas is the story of God’s greatest gift given to meet our greatest need – because God is Love.  Christmas should be a time of love. Read: The Greatest Story Ever Told The Christmas story – a tale retold year after year, yet it never loses its majesty; it never ceases to fill our hearts with wonder.  I want you to see three facts – three certainties – that if you will let them find room in your heart today, they will fill this Christmas with peace, hope, and love. Let’s first think of the reality of this story, It contains scandalous behavior. She was found with child.  Forget, for a moment, the part about “of the Holy Ghost.”  You and I know that now because we have it written in the Word of God.  But only Mary knew it then.  For five, maybe six months she had been able to keep her condi-tion a secret.  But the day arrived when her pregnancy could no longer be hidden.  She was found with child.  She was found out. Into the midst of this confusion, with all its conflicting thoughts and emotions, Joseph receives a word from God.  And let me say, that is what we need when our lives spin out of control. A tiny baby came into a grim and dark world, shining light across the barren landscape – a light that still invites men to come into the warmth of God’s grace and find there peace, and hope, and love. ‘Twilight’ Pop Culture Parodies: Celebrating The Year’s Best

We look back at videos that got the ‘Twilight’ treatment in this week’s ‘Twilight’ Tuesday. By Kara Warner Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I” Photo: Summit Entertainment In the spirit of the season of giving and spreading holiday cheer, this week’s “Twilight” Tuesday is all about the gifts we’ve received via several higher-profile “Twilight” parodies that were prevalent in pop culture this year. With four films having been unleashed upon the masses to date, there is more than enough material to work with, and you know what they say about imitation: It’s the highest form of flattery. Without further ado, here are the best videos that got the “Twilight” treatment in 2011, plus a couple old-school standouts that are always worth revisiting. Auto-Tuned at the Oscars The Academy wasn’t subtle about trying to lure younger viewers for the 83rd annual Oscars telecast when they signed on co-hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway, and that was even more apparent when a musical mash-up was introduced that featured short Auto-Tuned videos from the year’s most popular films. The “Twilight” moment arrived toward the end of the video in a little ditty titled “He Doesn’t Own a Shirt,” which featured that infamous scene in “Eclipse” wherein Edward scoffs at Jacob’s impossibly toned abs and asks Bella why the werewolf never wears shirts. Nickelodeon’s Fred Figglehorn Does “Twilight” Speaking of shirtlessness, in Nickelodeon’s “Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred,” Internet celeb Fred Figglehorn showed off his own set of impressive abs in a kooky Jacob vs. Volturi-type scene . In this setup, Fred/Jacob has a squeaky high-pitched voice and instead of turning into a wolf, he morphs into a Pomeranian. “Breaking Prawn” With the Muppets We can all agree that the marketing campaign for “The Muppets” was brilliant. After taking on the likes of “Green Lantern” and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” via parody trailers, our favorite fuzzy friends spoofed “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” with their “Breaking Prawn” clip and three equally clever posters advertising “The Muppet Saga” that featured Kermit as “Vamphibian,” Miss Piggy as “Bella Swine” and Rowlf as “WereRowlf.” Bonus #1: Jimmy Kimmel’s “Friggin’ Twilight” Yes, this video arrived in 2010, but because it stars our very own colorful characters from “Jersey Shore,” it’s too good not to mention here. This little gem first aired during Kimmel’s talk show and featured Snooki as Bella, The Situation as Edward, JWoww as Alice, Vinnie as Tyler Crowley, Pauly D as Jacob, Ronnie and Sammy as Cullens/Volturi, and a cameo by “Shore” cast-off Angelina as evil Victoria. Most ridiculous moments involve The Sitch’s sparkling abs and Pauly D’s stringy werewolf facial hair. Bonus #2: “SNL” Digital Short “Firelight” Leave it to the kings of pop culture mockery at “Saturday Night Live” and pop star princess Taylor Swift to create a killer “Twilight” parody. In the 2009 Digital Short “Firelight,” guest host Swift did a spot-on Kristen Stewart impression, complete with repeated lip biting and multiple hair-behind-the-ear moves, all while quoting actual lines from “Twilight.” However, in this case the Edward character is not a vampire, he’s the big, green, clumsy, strangle-happy monster Frankenstein. What “Twilight” moments did we miss? Sound off in the comments below and tweet me at @KaraWarner with your thoughts and suggestions for future columns! By Gil Kaufman Amy Winehouse Photo: Getty Images Like you, we’re pop-culture obsessives. That’s why from stars revealing baby bumps on live TV to the end (or near-end) of two of the most monumental movie franchises in recent memory and the deaths of a pair of the aughts’ quirkiest, most singular personalities, MTV News brought you everything you needed to know about the bold-faced names that mattered to you most in 2011. We looked back at the many big stories of the year and came up with a list of our Top 10 Newsmakers of 2011: 10. Amy Winehouse’s Death At age 27, British soul belter Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment on July 23. The “Rehab” singer had lived a life on the edge, with multiple arrests and stints in detox, and while we were pulling for her, the news of her death from alcohol intoxication was a gut punch. As MTV readers flooded us with remembrances of her sultry voice and no-B.S. persona, everyone from Katy Perry and Rihanna to Nicki Minaj shared their love, fellow musicians paid tribute at the VMAs and I recalled the first time I saw her perform in the U.S. and how the pain in her songs set the stage for such confessional singers as her friend Adele . 9. Beyonce Knowles Interview With Katie Couric: Pregnancy, Biggest Accomplishment Of The Year, And Touring [Video]

Katie Couric and Beyonce are good friends… we hear: When Katie Couric greeted Beyonce Knowles with a hug before their “20/20″ interview, she couldn’t resist giving the world’s most famous, fabulous and fierce baby belly a little rub. “I bet your mom does it all the time, and your sister,” Couric said. “Oh yeah. I mean, I can’t walk. I have somebody holding me and hugging, and there’s going to be so much love around the baby,” Knowles said, laughing. Last summer, while Knowles performed four nights of sold-out shows at New York City’s Roseland Ballroom, a sequinned mini-dress was strategically draped over her growing belly. The concerts have been captured on a DVD, “Live at Roseland: Elements of 4,” which was released this week. Knowles, 30, already has the resume of a legend: singer, songwriter, actor, fashion designer and model. So it’s no surprise that for the concert film she was performer, director, choreographer and producer — all in one. PHOTOS: Beyonce Through the Years Beyonce’s co-parent and husband is, of course, hip-hop star/mogul Jay-Z. In August, Jay was among the thrilled onlookers when Knowles “announced” her pregnancy at the MTV Video Music Awards. Knowles sang her hit “Love On Top” — while hiding her secret under her top. After the song, she opened her jacket and rubbed her belly, smiling. Turn the page for the 7-Minute preview to the interview tonight.

Hilary Duff Busts Out

Alright, this pregnancy thing is kind of annoying me now. Here’s Hilary Duff either trying to smuggle a Thanksgiving turkey out of the house under her top or she’s really pregnant now. I was kind of hoping that it was just beer bloated, but it looks like this baby thing is really happening. I guess I wouldn’t have a problem raising some other man’s baby, as long as Hilary gets back to her sexy self after the birth, we’re all good. I’ll name him Clyde and I’ll read him Heathcliff before bed.
