By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jonah Hill attends the 2011 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images After spending roughly two years in development purgatory, the wheels are finally turning on Jonah Hill’s big-screen take on the ’80s TV hit “21 Jump Street,” and the funnyman couldn’t be more amped. “The ball’s very slowly rolling,” Hill laughed to MTV News on the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards red carpet on Friday night. “We’re really excited.” The “Superbad” star, who penned the script, also gave an update about the production schedule and said filming is set to kick off in a just a few months. “We’re gonna shoot April 11 in New Orleans,” Hill divulged. “I’m excited. I’ve never been to New Orleans before.” While Hill and co-star Channing Tatum are slated to head in front of the lens, he added that the entire cast hasn’t been firmed up yet. “It was really important to get the main two characters together, and then now we gotta fill out the rest of the cast,” he said. However there is one superstar cameo Hill has been gunning for since the project was green lit: Johnny Depp. “Hopefully, he does it. It would be awesome if he did it,” Hill told MTV News in November about getting the “Pirates of the Carribean” star and “Jump Street” alum, even jokingly offering an aggressive plea to directly to Depp: “Just do it, dude. Don’t be an a–hole. Just be in the movie.” Depp seems down for turning up in the flick, telling MTV News in December, “I’m in.” A Depp cameo may lend the project some authenticity, but Hill has maintained that the film version will introduce brand new characters and bear little resemblance to its small-screen predecessor. “What happens is they get caught up in the high school-ness as opposed to the police work,” Hill previously told MTV News . “And whenever they get too caught up in the high school drama, police work comes in. And whenever they get too caught up in the police work, high school drama comes in. “It’s an entirely new imagination of what ’21 Jump Street’ is,” he explained. “We’re not doing a spoof whatsoever. The actor and his girlfriend, Jade Duell, welcomed a son on Friday in Hawaii, according to UsMagazine.com . “Everyone is doing well,” a rep for the “Marley and Me” actor told People. The new arrival comes just days after news broke that he and lady were expecting their first child together. Although the “How Do You Know” star has stayed mum about the pregnancy over the past few months, but an insider told Us that Wilson was looking forward to fatherhood and getting educated about becoming a dad. “[Wilson] has been doing research and learning as much as he can. He’s super into it and asks a lot of questions to make sure he knows what’s going on every step of the way,” the source said. After “Fockers,” Wilson’s next film to hit theaters is the comedy “Hall Pass,” which co-stars “Saturday Night Live” funnyman Jason Sudeikis and is slated to appear on screens on February 25. He also reprises his voice-acting role as Lightning McQueen in “Cars 2,” which will arrive in theaters on June 24. Wilson will also lend his voice-acting skills to the upcoming animated flick “Turkeys” alongside his brother, Luke. Wilson is also set to team up with “Fockers” co-star Ben Stiller for “Zoolander 2,” a sequel to their 2001 fashion-world spoof. Wilson outlined the plight of his and Stiller’s aging catwalk characters to MTV News during a sit-down in December. “We start off with them in a pretty bad place,” he said. “They’re about to ring 40’s bell. Oscar winner is expecting her first child with actor/director boyfriend Guillaume Cane. The actress’ rep confirmed the news to multiple celebrity websites; the pregnancy was first reported by Us Weekly. People reports that the baby is expected this spring. Despite being photographed wearing a sparkling ring, a gift from her beau, a source said the couple are not engaged. “They haven’t disclosed any plans concerning marriage,” the source explained. The Oscar winner and Cane, a French actor and director, met when they starred together in “Love Me if You Dare” in 2003. They began dating in 2007. They most recently worked together on Cane’s film “Little White Lies.” In a 2009 interview with The Telegraph, Cotillard made it clear that she wanted to start a family. “You can’t work all your life,” she explained. “I was thinking, of course, about my life, which is a lucky, lucky, lucky life. I have the choice to take a big break and I have to do that. I want to have babies so I must take some time to have babies.” In the same interview, she recalled some advice “Nine” co-star Daniel Day-Lewis gave her. “Take care of my life,” she recalled the actor telling her. ” ‘Don’t work too much.’ He’s right.” Next up, Cotillard will star in Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris,” alongside Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams, and Steven Soderbergh’s “Contagion.” Cotillard might be making the awards-show rounds this season as “Inception” is up for Best Motion Picture – Drama at the Golden Globes and is getting Oscar buzz. The “Benny and the Jets” singer has now spoken with UsMagazine.com about how it feels to have his longtime desire to become a father come true. “For many years we have talked about fulfilling one of our greatest wishes by becoming parents,” he said. “And now this wish has been granted to us, we feel so blessed and lucky.” While many celebrities are ringing in the New Year with engagement news , John and Furnish celebrated Christmas with the arrival of the 7-pound, 15-ounce baby, which was delivered by an unidentified surrogate. This is the first child for John, 63. A joint statement released by John and Furnish on Monday announced, “Zachary is healthy and doing well. [We are] overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment.” John and Furnish had attempted to adopt an HIV-positive 14-month-old boy from the Ukraine last year, but were prevented by government officials because of the pop icon’s age and marital status. But that didn’t turn the British singer away from his dream to become a father. He and Furnish hired a surrogate for the pregnancy, though they are keeping those details private. This may be the couple’s first child, they are no strangers when it comes to kids. John and his husband serve as godparents to a combined six children, including John Lennon’s son Sean, Elizabeth Hurley’s son Damien, and David and Victoria Beckham’s sons Brooklyn and Romeo.
