Joe Biden Senselessly Suggested ‘Civility’Toward Segregationists & The Innanet Dragged Him To The CLUELESS Chasm

Source: W.Wade/WENN / WENN Joe Biden Dragged For Suggesting Civil Working Relationship With Segregationists Joe Biden got BLASTED after he suggested the nation work toward a “civil” relationship with segregationists this week. According to NPR , he told donors at a fundraiser in NY Tuesday night: “I was in a caucus with James O. Eastland,” Biden said, according to a pool report. “He never called me ‘boy’; he always called me ‘son.’ ” “Well, guess what? At least there was some civility,” Biden said, also pointing to a working relationship he forged with Georgia Sen. Herman Talmadge, another segregationist Democrat. “We got things done. We didn’t agree on much of anything. We got things done. We got it finished. But today, you look at the other side and you’re the enemy. Not the opposition, the enemy. We don’t talk to each other anymore.” Is dude serious?? New Jersey senator Cory Booker wasted no time responding… “You don’t joke about calling black men ‘boys,’ ” New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, one of three black Democratic candidates for president, said in a statement Wednesday. “Vice President Biden’s relationships with proud segregationists are not the model for how we make America a safer and more inclusive place for black people, and for everyone. I have to tell Vice President Biden, as someone I respect, that he is wrong for using his relationships with Eastland and Talmadge as examples of how to bring our country together.” California senator Kamala Harris agreed that what Biden said was absolutely wrong… California Sen. Kamala Harris told reporters at the Capitol, “I have a great deal of respect for Vice President Biden. He’s done very good work, and he has served our country in a very noble way. But to coddle the reputations of segregationists, of people who if they had their way I would literally not be standing here as a member of the United States Senate, is, I think, it’s just misinformed and it’s wrong.” Harris declined to say whether Biden should apologize for the comments. As for Uncle Joe himself, he’s saying that Cory should apologize to him. “There’s not a racist bone in my body,” said Biden. Mo Money: Kanye West and Pusha T Are Being Sued Over A Sample On ‘DAYTONA’

Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Kanye West and Pusha T Sued Over An Unauthorized Sample Kanye West knows a thing or two about being sued over some samples, so it’s not very surprising to hear the producer and his G.O.O.D. Music President Pusha T could be headed to court over that very issue. According to legal documents obtained by  The Times Daily , both artists are accused of using an unauthorized sample on “Come Back Baby,” a track from Pusha’s 2018 album  DAYTONA . FAME Enterprises Inc. filed a lawsuit against the musicians two weeks ago in the Circuit Court of Colbert County, Alabama, claiming “Come Back Baby” features a portion of George Jackson’s 1972 record “I Can’t Do Without You,” which FAME produced and owns. The complaint states that Pusha’s song “includes the following repeated, unauthorized, unlicensed samples from ‘I Can’t Do Without You’”: Never have I been locked up in a world of misery I need you darlin’ to set me free Come back, baby, try me one more time Ooh, baby, I’m ’bout to go out of my mind I can’t— The company goes on to point out that over 35% of “Come Back Baby” is comprised of unlicensed samples of “I Can’t Do Without You.” FAME also says that Jackson’s record is about drug use and illegal drug trade, which is why they would have never agreed to license the song “for such a use under any circumstances.” The plaintiff is suing “for disgorgement of profits, compensatory, consequential, incidental and punitive damages in an amount to be determined by the trier of fact in this case, plus statutory fines, costs, interest and expenses.” UMG Recordings, Def Jam, and G.O.O.D. Music are listed as codefendants.    View this post on Instagram I finally got my album art… #DAYTONA 5/25 A post shared by Pusha T (@kingpush) on May 24, 2018 at 2:03pm PDT

Camille A. Brown Is The First Black Woman Choreographer Nominated For A Tony Award In Over 20 Years

Link:

T his year’s Tony Awards could turn out to be a historic evening for Black women in the realm of dance. According to Forbes , choreographer and artistic director Camille A. Brown is the first Black woman to be nominated in the Best Choreography category in 23 years. #ICYMI this piece about @CamilleABrown #dance #choreographers https://t.co/AZnPkrZzVK — Dance/USA (@DanceUSAorg) June 7, 2019 Brown—who is the founder of the New York City-based Camille A. Brown & Dancers dance company—is nominated for her work on the play Choir Boy . The play, which was written by Tarell Alvin McCraney , chronicles the experiences of a Black student who leads a gospel choir. Brown intertwined the storyline with powerful forms of dance expression. She says the premise of the play prompted her to pull inspiration from South African dance traditions, Step dance routines, and Juba dance which was started by Africans who were enslaved. “When I was hearing the spirituals [in Choir Boy] I was thinking about the historical context of them because they’re over 200 years old, but then looking at the men [in the cast] and how they are walking in life in 2019,” she told Deadline in an interview. “I told them that this was a time for them to be unapologetic on stage, and to step into what all this means. I told them, you’re carrying this historical information but you’re also carrying who you are. It’s not just about me coming in and putting in steps – there has to be the need and intention, an urgency, this combination of working and moving our bodies in space and having a dialogue.” The award-winning choreographer has had a storied career in the dance industry. She attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts and went on to dance with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Brown’s dance company has performed internationally and she has led the choreography for shows that include Once on This Island and Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert! . Brown says being nominated for the Tony Award is meaningful and speaks volumes about the need for more representation in dance and theatre. “When I wanted to do theatre, I didn’t see many reflections of myself. This Tony nomination is so important to me, and has deep meaning, because the last black woman that was nominated in this category was Marlies Yearby in 1996, for Rent ,” she said. “I have I hope that a young black girl who wants to choreograph for theater but doesn’t necessarily see many black females can see a reflection of herself through me.” The 73rd Tony Awards will air on June 9. Meghan Markle: I’m Back! Just One Month After Giving Birth!

Meghan Markle may be an extremely nasty person , according to President Donald Trump. But she’s a very loyal and loving granddaughter-in-law, according to Queen Elizabeth II. Emerging from her maternity leave for the first time in week, the Duchess of Sussex attended the annual Trooping the Colour parade on Saturday, June 8 in England in order to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II‘s birthday. The photos above and below represent Markle’s first public appearance since she stood sort of awkwardly in front of reporters just two days after welcoming son Archie on May 6 . Markle was with husband Prince Harry and other members of the Royal Family for this special occasion, which took place about two months after the Queen turned 93 years old. At the parade, Meghan donned a navy Givenchy dress and matching purse by the designer and Noel Stewart hat. She was also spotted wearing a third ring on her wedding ring finger. The British family put up a united front for the day’s festivities, but rumors continue to run rampant. Chatter on the Internet still hints strongly at some major tension between various relatives. And it’s more than mere chatter, too: Sources have confirmed that Harry and Meghan will be breaking away from their joint charity, The Royal Foundation, with William and Kate. The organization established in 2011, with the former Suits actress joining for her first public appearance on its behalf in February of 2018. A source told Us Weekly that the two couples will now pursue separate charitable efforts, fueling the constant talk — which has been going on for months — that these four simply do not get along. However, Radar Online recently reported that things are improving… thanks to Kate Middleton and her ongoing efforts at finding a common ground between the quartet. “The rift between the brothers and their wives has ripped the royals apart – and Kate decided enough was enough,” a high-level palace source told this website, adding: “She was heartbroken her children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte, wouldn’t be close to Harry and Meghan’s child” unless she healed the irritating rift. We shall see if this report holds true. As you might, almost no one has actually gone on record in regard to this alleged feud. It’s only been an abundance of anonymous sources who continue to claim that Meghan and Kate hate each other, while Harry and William aren’t close these days, either. Elsewhere, Markle’s name was in the news last week because President Trump was alerted to some remarks she made about him in 2016. These remarks were not positive and the Commander-in-Chief responded to them as follows: “I didn’t know that she was nasty.” He later sort of tried to backpeddle by telling Piers Morgan in an interview : “I hope she enjoys her life. I think she’s very nice.” Whatever, right? We don’t have time for his nonsense. Let’s just focus on some adorable photos of Arche instead, shall we? Click down below now! 5 Light-Hearted Netflix Picks, Perfect For After You Watch Something A Little Too Heavy

View original post here:

Source: Kevin Winter / Getty 5 Netflix Picks That’ll Get You Out Of A Serious Slump The world is still reeling from what we all saw when we watched Ava DuVernay’s recently released masterpiece, When They See Us . The all-too-familiar story about the Central Park 5 was presented to us with more information, more emotion, and more grit than ever before–causing outrage, anger, and every other possible emotion for the poor young men who suffered the consequences of a crime they didn’t commit. When They See Us is more than necessary, but even so, it’s still hard to watch the reenactments of just how seriously these unassuming teenagers were taken advantage of and wrongfully punished. With that being said, sometimes the only thing we want after watching something so draining is something more light-hearted to take our mind off of the terrible things still going on in this world. Here are five picks to add to your Netflix queue for the next time you watch something painfully heavy and need some balance in your life. 1. Always Be My Maybe View this post on Instagram If you haven’t watched #AlwaysBeMyMaybe yet, I suggest you get to it tonight before all your co-workers discuss the big spoiler at work tomorrow! A post shared by Ali Wong (@aliwong) on Jun 2, 2019 at 10:20pm PDT “Childhood sweethearts have a falling out and don’t speak for 15 years, only reconnecting as adults when Sasha runs into Marcus in San Francisco. Although the old sparks are still there, the couple live in different worlds.” Always Be My Maybe is the epitome of a light-hearted, funny movie that just puts you in a good mood! If you just watched something heavy, or even if you’re just feeling down because of some other reason, this should be your number one pick. 2. Good Girls View this post on Instagram Some light gardening or a crime scene cover up? #GoodGirls A post shared by Good Girls (@nbcgoodgirls) on May 6, 2019 at 12:00pm PDT “When sisters Beth and Annie and their best friend Ruby become fed up with playing by the rules and not getting the respect they deserve, they band together to take control of their lives — by holding up a local grocery store.  In desperate need of money, the women plan the heist expecting to ease their financial burdens. But new to the game of crime, they get pulled in deeper than they ever imagined — and the only way out of this will be together.” You might think a show about moms-turned-criminals is pretty heavy, but I promise you, it’s not. Good Girls is the perfect mix of action and comedy and you’ll probably get through all of season 1 on Netflix in a night or two. 3. Dead To Me View this post on Instagram Did we just fall in love? (fun fact: that's dreamy actor @brandonoscott actually singing!) A post shared by Dead to Me (@deadtome) on May 18, 2019 at 10:30am PDT “Jen’s husband recently died in a hit-and-run, and the sardonic widow is determined to solve the crime. Optimistic free spirit Judy has recently suffered a tragic loss of her own. The ladies meet at a support group and, despite their polar-opposite personalities, become unlikely friends. As the women bond over bottles of wine and a shared affinity for “The Facts of Life,” Judy tries to shield Jen from a shocking secret that could destroy her life as she knows it.” Okay, so this isn’t the lightest show in the world, but the dark comedy will suck you in and be sure to get you out of even the lowest slump. 4. Jailbirds View this post on Instagram Congrats to @44_blue whose new series #jailbirds is officially the No. 1 Reality Show on @netflixuk, and No. 5 in their list of Most Watched Shows this week! #jailbirdsnetflix #numberone A post shared by Red Arrow Studios (@redarrowstudios) on May 23, 2019 at 10:31am PDT “Jailbirds is a documentary television series about inmates at the Sacramento County Jail.” This show is….crazy. If anything, the things you see going on in this jail will take your mind off of whatever you’ve got going on just from how wild these people and their antics are. 5. Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee View this post on Instagram Ladies and gentlemen, the one and only @realtracymorgan. A post shared by Jerry Seinfeld (@jerryseinfeld) on Jul 15, 2018 at 6:59am PDT “Comic Jerry Seinfeld is the creator, executive producer and host of this unique series that features vintage cars, funny conversations and a lot of caffeine. Jerry picks up each guest in a special car and heads to a cafe or restaurant. While the guests are typically comics, one episode features a drive around the White House grounds with President Barack Obama in a 1963 Chevy Corvette Stingray.” Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee   is the definition of light-hearted. With guests like President Obama and Tracy Morgan, there’s an episode for just about everybody–and there’s nothing better than seeing two comedians tell jokes back and forth for a good 30 minutes.

So Sad: Miami News Anchor Commits Suicide, Believing He Had Same Dementia As His Mom

Source: Scott Olson / Getty Miami News Anchor Todd Tongen Kills Himself, Believing He Had Dementia A longtime Miami news anchor and reporter Todd Tongen met a tragic end at age 56 when he committed suicide, according to WPLG Local 10 News . According to the outlet where Tongen worked for 30 years, Tongen’s wife was on vacation in Italy with their younger son when she was unable to reach her husband. She asked a friend to check on Tongen and eventually, the police were called. The anchor was found dead in his home on Monday morning. Tongen’s death was a complete shock for many of the people who knew him. His brother, Dr. Scott Tongen, told Local 10 that he had no clue Todd was struggling. “I don’t really think he was thinking about ending his life, as far as I know,” he said, explaining that Todd had upcoming plans for a trip to Canada and Las Vegas. “But there was clearly something that was bothering him.” “He left some garbled messages that we haven’t seen yet, but there was a simple note that said he was lost and to forgive him,” Scott continued.   Scott said he believes his brother suffered from a looming fear of dying from Lewy Body Dementia (LBD), which is a progressive disease that also cost the life of his mother back in August 2017. “I’m convinced that he thought he had it,” Tongen told Local 10, explaining that his brother had been having some balance issues, which their mother also experienced at the start of her disease. “Whether there was conclusive evidence or not, I think he thought he had it, and that may have been enough.”   LBD is the same disease Robin Williams had before he died of suicide in August 2014 at age 63, according to his widow Susan Williams . In response to the tragic news, WPLG President and CEO Bert Medina released a statement to the outlet about Todd and the memories the station would cherish: “We are shocked and saddened by the death of Todd Tongen, but we are choosing to remember how he lived,” Medina said. “Todd was an incredibly talented journalist. He spent 30 years at WPLG telling the stories of the people in our community and giving so much of himself to this community. He was an incredible person. He lit up the room with his warm personality.” He continued: “As hard as it is, our news team is reporting on the circumstance of Todd’s death, we will report on this painful subject of suicide and mental health and perhaps we can help one person out there who is struggling. We miss Todd terribly. Our staff is suffering, but I commend them for how they’ve handled this situation with grace, strength and professionalism.” All condolences to Tongen and his family.

Loyola has an 8:1 teacher-to-student ratio and a nationally recognized debate team.
