Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones has come out with a damning accusation against a fan in San Francisco. Following his team’s 10-2 victory over the Giants yesterday, Jones Tweeted the following to his 129,000 followers: “I want to thank whatever slapd— threw that banana towards my direction in CF in the last inning. Way to show ur class u jacka–.” Adam Jones Alleges Racist Fan Interaction Jones is African-American and the tossing of a banana has generally been considered an especially racist move. Jim Moorehead, the Giants’ senior director of media relations, told The Baltimore Sun that he will be reviewing security footage today in order to investigate the allegation. “I love how some ppl are defending the actions by someone today,” Jones wrote as a follow-up Tweet. “Shows how u really are also. All good wit me. I just #StayHungry.” Jones added that he may “get off social media soon” based on the reaction he’s received to this claim. Jones went 2 for 5 in the game and hit a home run, as the Orioles continue to battle for a playoff spot and head to Arizona for a three-game series that starts tonight.
It’s little consolation now, but the racial discrimination claim in the lawsuit by Lisa Jackson that torpedoed Paula Deen’s career has been thrown out. A judge just ruled in Paula’s favor after Deen claimed Jackson had no right to claim racial discrimination … basically because she is also white. Any racial slurs made by Deen or comments that she and her cohorts may or may not have made have no legal consequence to her, the judge decided. Jackson also made the tenuous argument that someone in her family is bi-racial, which Paula disputes. The judge said even so, she was an ” accidental victim .” The lawsuit as a whole is still in effect, because Jackson also claims sexual discrimination, and that part can’t be dismissed on quite the same grounds. However, it’s extremely ironic that Paula’s career took a HUGE hit because of a leaked deposition she gave following a bogus claim of racial discrimination. Is she perfect? Absolutely not. Is the fact that she, by her own admission, used racial slurs in the past enough to change people’s opinions of her? Clearly. Still, her supporters will surely argue that damage that has been done feels disproportionate when compared to the actual impact of her actions. Especially now that at least part of the lawsuit was unfounded. The Food Network and other business partners dropped her after she acknowledged using racial slurs in the past during questioning by Jackson’s lawyers. Deen denies all of Jackson’s allegations of discrimination, which she alleges she experienced during the five years she worked at Paula’s restaurant.
Jenelle Evans’ latest mug shot is here, after she failed a drug test after her latest court hearing … in which she struck a plea deal to keep her out of jail. At least she was in good spirits, apparently: The Teen Mom 2 star was in court today, answering to charges of drug paraphernalia, heroin and Percocet possession , stemming from her arrest in April. Jenelle Evans agreed to a plea bargain in which she pleaded guilty paraphernalia charge, in exchange for the other, more serious charges being dropped. She was hit with 18 months’ probation, but no jail time – amazing, given that she was busted with major quantities of the drugs and assault on her husband. That charge was dropped when Courtland Rogers pleaded guilty, so all was looking up for Jenelle … until she was randomly drug tested and failed. Today. The MTV star tested positive for marijuana and the judge sent her to jail for 48 hours, her (hard-working) attorney Dustin Sullivan confirmed to TMZ. It’s unclear why she was in such a good mood at the time officers booked and processed her at the station, but … better than being suicidal, we guess? It’s also unclear what impact it will have on the probation terms she just agreed to and when, but you can guarantee there will be consequences. And that she’ll likely be back in front of the booking photo camera before long, as she hasn’t learned much of a lesson from her previous 245 arrests.

Zimbabwe Opens ‘Blacks Only’ Stock Exchange Via Telegraph reports: The plan to grab mining companies, most of which are South African-owned, follows President Robert Mugabe’s landslide re-election last week. Saviour Kasukawere, the ‘indigenisation’ minister, said on Tuesday that the government or black Zimbabweans would take 51 per cent of the shares in all major foreign-owned companies, valued at about £4.8 billion. No compensation will be paid. John Robertson, an independent economist in Harare, said: “There is no logic in that plan. He is in danger of introducing economic apartheid which is absurd.” Mr Robertson added: “I think this is only politicking and there is no substance to this.” Metals and minerals, including platinum and gold, accounted for 71 per cent, or £480 million, of Zimbabwe’s total exports last year. South Africa has a bilateral trade and protection agreement with Zimbabwe. If the regime presses ahead and seizes a controlling stake in South African mining companies, they could use these agreements to secure compensation or the return of assets via international courts. Whether Mr Mugabe’s regime would respect any such rulings is another question. Mr Mugabe seized almost all of Zimbabwe’s white-owned farms, often in defiance of court orders, and without compensation. The government taking over all wealth and means of production? This is LITerally the worst news we’ve heard all week. In news initially broken by BuzzFeed and then confirmed by NBC, Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe are on their way out of Parks and Recreation. For reasons presumed budgetary reasons, the actors will depart the hilarious sitcom following Episode 13 of Season 6. “The news about Rob and Rashida is true,” executive producer Mike Schur said in a statement. “We’ve been working on their storyline (on and off) for four seasons now, and heading into this year, with the two of them contemplating parenthood, it felt like a natural time to move them into the next phase.” When we last saw Jones’ Ann Perkins (who has been with the series since its pilot) and Lowe’s Chris Traeger (who joined toward the end of Season 2), they had agreed to make a baby together. It’s unclear how the characters will be written out, but it’s safe to assume this parental mission will be accomplished and the pair will choose to raise their child outside Pawnee for whatever reason. Concluded Schur: “We absolutely love both Rashida and Rob, and will be sad to see them go. Rashida was one of the very first people we knew we wanted in the cast, and as important as Ann is to [Amy Poehler’s] Leslie (and vice-versa), she’ll certainly never be far from Pawnee. Rob we initially thought we could only have for six or eight episodes, and we couldn’t be happier that he will have stuck around for 75 “They are wonderful, funny, committed actors, they’ve been a huge part of the Parks and Rec family, and we think we have a great Pawnee send-off in the works for them.
As previously noted, Amanda Seyfried loves her dog . And now we know why. The actress appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman last night and brought along her trusty canine, Finn. And, much to the shock of the veteran host, the pet perfectly followed his owner’s commands, sitting very still even when a juicy hamburger was placed on his adorable, obedient head. Retirement from swimming apparently suits Michael Phelps well in the girlfriend department – he’s dating Golf Channel’s Win McMurry – and the facial hair realm. As mustaches go, Phelps’ is fairly epic by modern standards: Debuted within an adorable, black-and-white photograph of the Olympic champion and his niece, the new look definitely suits him, don’t you think? Phelps posted the shot on his Instagram today, and we’re not sure if it just works because he has 87 gold medals, or because it’s just that awesome. Either way, though, it’s en emphatic win.
