President Obama Aghast at Notion of Peas in Guacamole

Gay marriage? Health care subsidies? The 2016 Presidential Election? Please.  President Barack Obama has a far more important subject to debate: the mere suggestion that one ought to put peas in one’s guacamole. The New York Times published an article on Wednesday, July 1 that dared to make this recommendation, as the venerable newspaper Tweeted along with the photo posted above: Add green peas to your guacamole. Trust us. The accompanying piece argued that including peas with this chip-themed delicacy adds an “intense sweetness and a chunky texture to the dip.” But a certain Commander-in-Chief strongly disagrees. “Respect the nyt, but not buying peas in guac,” Obama tweeted. “Onions, garlic, hot peppers. Classic.” As you might expect, the President’s own list of essentials sparked their own bit of online outrage, but let’s save his guacamole recipe for another time. Now, we simply want to know your take on this escalating situation: peas in guacamole? Yay or nay?!?

Donald Trump Critics Petition NBC to Fire Presidential Candidate

Critics of Donald Trump would like NBC to say two magic, well-known words to the 2016 Presidential candidate: YOU’RE FIRED! In light of Trump’s controversial comments regarding immigrants during his  Presidential announcement press conference this month, a petition is going around at Change.org. Signed by over 175,000 people, it asks NBC to cut ties with Miss USA, Miss Universe and Celebrity Apprentice. “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best,” Trump said at the press conference. “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.” Really. A candidate for President of the United States said this. In response, Univision has pulled out of airing the Miss USA Pageant, though Trump has threatened the network with a lawsuit if they stick to this plan of action. NBC, meanwhile, has issued a statement that distances itself from Trump’s world view… but this is not enough, according to those who signed the petition. They are urging NBC to sever ties in every way, shape and form with Trump. “He needs to be shown that his behavior belongs in the past before the civil rights movement,” the online document reads. “It is time for him and people like him, to join this century and work for this country, not against it. A large part of your audience is Hispanic and we watch NBC, NBC News, and Telemundo. “How about looking out for us?” View Slideshow: Donald Trump Announces Presidential Run; Twitter Reacts!

“Not In My House”: President Obama Tells Transgender Woman To Fall Back When She Heckles Him During White House Speech [Video]

President Obama Scolds White House Heckler President Obama is getting more and more gutter in the twilight of his second term. The POTUS had to put a recent party guest in her place when she repeatedly interrupted his speech on LGBTQ civil issues by a transgender woman who decided it was time for him to switch gears and talk about immigration. Via MailOnline : President Obama shut down a heckler who tried to interrupt him during a speech at the White House Wednesday evening, then had her removed from the room. Obama was half-way through delivering an address about civil rights for lesbian, gay and transsexual Americans at a reception in the presidential mansion Wednesday night when he was interrupted by one of his guests. Jennicet Gutiérrez, a transsexual Mexican woman and campaigner, started yelling at him to close deportation centers until she was escorted out by security. According to the woman who invited Gutiérrez as her plus-one, the heckle was a pre-planned stunt to raise awareness. Gutiérrez shouted out that she was an undocumented immigrant and a trans woman and was ‘tired of the abuse’ she claims immigration officials are carrying out on minorities. Obama tried to ask her to stop, but turned sour when she wouldn’t stop shouting. He said: ‘Hold on a second I – OK, you know what? No no no no no. You’re in my house.’ SMH. What did she think was going to happen? Some folks need too much attention… DailyMail

Mike Huckabee Stands By Anti-Transgender Views, Speech

Mike Huckabee is standing up for what he believes in, no matter the backlash that has accompanied those beliefs. Earlier this year, the Presidential hopeful took to the stage at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention and made his transgender views very well known. Referring to anyone who believes him or herself to be a member of the opposite gender as a national “threat,” Huckabee then mocked the seriousness of these individuals. Mike Huckabee Slams Transgenders “I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers,” the Republican joked. On Friday, speaking to radio host Steve Deace, the politician was asked about the comments he made four months ago and whether the media’s focus on Caitlyn Jenner is an example of “misplaced priorities.” Yes, absolutely, Huckabee said, adding: “I take nothing back from that speech. I’m kind of glad it’s posted because people, if they watch the whole clip, what they’re going to see is that I’m giving a commonsense answer to the insanity that’s going on out there.” You can watch the video above for yourself to determine if this is true. “Everybody wants to be politically correct, everybody wants to be loved by the media and loved by the left and loved by the elitists,” the ordained South Baptist minister continued. “I know I’m not going to be, so let’s just get it over with. I’d rather be a commonsense candidate for people who did take their brains to work today.” Huckabee also made headlines recently when he stood up for admitted child molester Josh Duggar. Carly Fiorina Announces 2016 Presidential Run; Former HP CEO to Seek GOP Nomination

Yesterday, retired brain surgeon Ben Carson announced his 2016 run for the GOP presidential nomination. Today, another controversial figure from the private sector has thrown her hat into the ring, and like Carson, she differs from the typical Republican nominee in many ways, but might ironically suffer in the primaries due to her old-guard views on several important issues. Carly Fiorina is best known for her tenure as CEO of Hewlett-Packard and her 2010 senate campaign, both of which ended badly. Even so, Fiorina believes she has the necessary name recognition and respect from her fellow Republicans to have a real chance in an already-crowded field of nominees.  “Yes, I am running,” Fiorina said today during an appearance on Good Morning America. “I think I’m the best person for the job because I understand how the economy actually works.” “I understand the world; who’s in it.” Often described as one of the worst tech CEOs of all time thanks to the disastrous HP-Compaq merger that she spearheaded in 2005, Fiorina entered politics after being forced to resign from by the board at HP. She went on to work with John McCain during his 2008 presidential run and even addressed the RNC that same year. Fiorina quickly developed a loyal following among conservative Republicans, but was soundly defeated when she attempted to unseat California Senator Barbara Boxer in 2010. “She’s a very talented candidate and connects well with voters,” says Marty Wilson said, a political adviser who managed Fiorina’s senate campaign. “The problem is after 2010, she was no longer a candidate. So mail lists and email lists tend to atrophy when they’re not in use.” As with Carson, Fiorina’s lack of political experience could prove to be a major liability, but both candidates are likely hoping that voters will share their belief that a Washington outsider is just what the White House needs. Jeb Bush to Run For President in 2016 … Says Nicolle Wallace!

Jeb Bush will run for U.S. President in 2016 … according to former George W. Bush communications director turned The View co-host Nicolle Wallace! Nicolle Wallace: Jeb Bush 2016! “I’m so excited that Jeb Bush is running,” Wallace said of the 2016 election in an interview with The Insider ’s Debbie Matenopoulos on Thursday. “He really sort of shaped my views of what a conservative can be and is, and the problems they can solve and how they can solve them differently.” “I hope he’s successful. I hope he wins the nomination. I hope he wins the White House. But I’m going to be cheering for him from here,” she added. By that, Wallace meant that while she “would do anything” for the Bush family, she has no intention of leaving her post to work in the White House. Jeb Bush 2016 talk has been constant since … well, the 2012 election results were announced, and he is among the frontrunners in many polls. But the Republican ex-Governor of Florida and brother of George W. Bush has not officially announced his candidacy yet. So … thank you Nicolle? If this was his de facto entry into the race, he probably imagined it happening in a slightly different way. But hey, you gotta start somewhere right? Assuming he really is planning a bid to become the third Bush president in the last five, Jeb faces some stiff opposition within the GOP. Popular U.S. Sens. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio have all announced their candidacies to succeed Barack Obama this spring. Many other big names are mulling candidacies for the Republicans as well, ensuring a crowded, hard-fought campaign this year and next. For the Democrats, Hillary Clinton is the heavy favorite, but got her first challenger yesterday when U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders announced he will run. GOP Smackdown Ahead: President Obama Warns Republican Majority That He Plans To Use His Veto Pen If Neccessary

Translation: “Uhhh, I still run this sh*t, in case y’all forgot…” The GOP may have gained control of Congress following the mid-term elections , but President Obama is making it clear that he’s still running the show and won’t hesitate to use his veto pen to control the outlandish counter-legislation that will surely come once the new Congress is sworn in next month. via Fox News The new Congress hasn’t yet been sworn in, but President Obama already is warning he plans to use his veto pen to counter initiatives from the incoming Republican majority. Obama, despite his near-constant friction with congressional Republicans the last few years, rarely has used the presidential veto — in part because legislation he didn’t like typically died in the Democrat-controlled Senate before reaching his desk. But with Republicans taking charge of the Senate next month and building their majority in the House, Obama said in an NPR interview he’s dusting off the veto pen. “There are going to be some areas where we disagree and, you know, I haven’t used the veto pen very often since I’ve been in office,” Obama said. “Now I suspect there are going to be some times where I’ve got to pull that pen out.” The agenda for the incoming Republican majority indeed could set up a series of veto stand-offs. In the interview with NPR, the president suggested he would mostly use his veto pen to block efforts to unravel existing laws and regulations pushed by his administration. “I’m going to defend gains that we’ve made in health care; I’m going to defend gains that we’ve made on environment and clean air and clean water,” he said. It’s good to know that the POTUS is ready to flex his Presidentia l power because the petty party aka the GOP are surely going to make his last 2 years in office hell.

Castle Season 7 Episode 8 Recap: Wrong Side of the Tracks

Detective Esposito ended up on the wrong side of the tracks on Castle Season 7 Episode 8 , almost literally: He was one of many taken hostage by a captor with a mysterious agenda. For many, the Presidential address (regarding the non-indictment in Ferguson, Missouri) cut into the opening few minutes of the hour. But the catalyst for the culprit to take so many hostage was less important than the question of how Espo (and his new transit cop buddy) would extricate himself from this dangerous situation. It wouldn’t be easy, considering the man in charge was wearing a suicide vest that would detonate if he died. Due to a surveillance camera on board the train, Rick, Beckett and company were able to keep an eye on Espo… until the bomber nearly figured out its presence just as Espo was set to make a grab him in concert with the HRT squad (their plan was communicated via pizza box, naturally). Lanie was concerned for her man, of course, and ended up helping in the investigation. She took note of the hostage taker’s sickly appearance, which we later learned was due to him exposing himself to a flu strain in order to create an epidemic, thereby making a certain lab (that had stockpiled the vaccine) rich. Espo and his pal jumped their captor in the end, using a shoelace to secure his “dead man’s switch.” Was the detective exposed to the virus? Nope, he was back hugging his friends and colleagues (including a big one for Lanie) not long after the ordeal was over. Go watch Castle online via TV Fanatic in order to see how Espo came to a realization about Lanie and decide: are these two finally headed toward something “real,” as Espo said? Check out the following video, meanwhile, to get a look at Castle Season 7 Episode 9 , which will take Rick and Kate to the movies: Castle Season 7 Episode 9 Promo
